In light of recent investigative reports from the Daily Caller that reveal close coordination between Media Matters for America and the White House, BigJournalism and BigGovernment have undertaken the task of revisiting some of our prior reporting on the media watchdog group and our list of its donors. I'll take football over an Obama speech anytime.
I really feel bad for Colt fans over Manning. That would suck for any team.
Go Saints!
"Okay, this is probably what you most want to talk about tonight. "
I only know about it thanks to this post. *laughs*
The Saints and the Pack, two class organizations w/two great quarterback/leaders.
Brees & Rodgers, what a change from the incompetent poser giving a speech during the pre-game.
Obama hasn't demonstrated the leadership skills necessary to manage a family picnic.
He claims his plan is paid for. How? He asks the Debt Commission to make new recommendations for more cuts & tax increases. But nobody has even accepted their old recommendations yet. The whole thing is phony.
FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At last! Our long national nightmare is over.
OK. I have to post this again. :^D
Tom Brady, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Patriots flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Tom," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Tom felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.
On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a GREEN & GOLD sidewalk, a 50-foot tall flagpole with an enormous PACKERS flag, and in every window, a CHEESEHEAD .
Tom looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I hold many NFL records, and I even won a few Super Bowls."
God said "So what's your point, Tom?"
"Well, why does Aaron Rodgers get a better house than I do ?"
God chuckled, and said: "Tom, that's not Aaron's house……it's Mine."
GO PACKERS !
Hello everyone. I am personally an Eagles an myself.
I also did catch some of "the speech." I liked the part where Obama wants to cut the payroll taxes for small businesses to promote hiring. That sounds like it will really help those small business job creators. I look forward to hearing the GOP support of that part at least, since it is a page straight out of their playbook.
An Eagles fan? Oh, so you're the one!
;^D
I'm sorry, you seem to be under the impression this is a GOP blog.
It is not.
Please try again.
Go Lions! For first time since 1956, I actually think my team is going to have a good year. Yes Suh.
Puck the Fackers! GO BEARS!!!
who doesn't want to go out and tackle someone after an Obama speech?
Any easy call:
NFL = 1
BHO = 0
you guys got some great players up front now. should be fun this year.
The City of Brotherly Thugs…
They won the NFL title in '57 — that was pretty good.
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!
why on God's green earth do the Packers go from Favre to Rodgers when we have to go through 20 QB's to find one guy like Cutler?
you guys have plenty of bums coming at you in the future..karma, baby!
Those Brothers could kick the Eagles asses!
Who needs karma. We've got Vince Lombardi calling the plays!
GEAUX SAINTS is right breaux!!!!!!
AAAAAH……FOOTBALL!
Go Giants!
You must be a Giants or Redskins fan to post something like that…
;-p'''
Grew up in MI, I'd like to see them have at least a decent year.
Someone should have gotten tackled during the speech! I'll let you guess who…
What Blasphemy! It's Dallas and the Pack! Love it when they play each other, then I always win!
Go Harry Tuttle! Uh huh you tell him! Seriously, I find it funny when I identify myself as a conservative all non conservatives hear is Republican. If I had a nickel for every time I had to say " look I am not going to be nice if you call me a Republican again, got it?"
Obama is an utter failure because his "ideas" seek to overturn the laws of human nature – i.e., we are "self interested" and do not respond to threats or platitudes. Nothing gets created in an economic climate where no one has anything to gain for themselves.
Tossing dead, rotting fish to trained seals does not prepare one for a leadership position. That's the other reason Odumb@ss is a failure…
Note to Obama:
The picture above, think about this as We the Taxpaying Citizens of The United States. Come November 2012, we WILL be there waiting for you to plug your A$$ in the ground like a 250lb linebacker and will enjoy every last second of the absolute terrifying pain heaped upon you by voting you the hell out of our lives!
This goes the same for the rest of your "sons-of-bitches" progressive/marxist friends.
The opiate of the masses…….. Quick… hand me the syringe.
Now if we could just get Obama to understand that businesses only hire when they see increased demand ie sales that sure would be something. Oh yeah go Pats!!!!
Suggestion to the NFL, please get some talent who has a beautiful voice and they can sing one of the most beautiful and powerful songs ever without artistic interpretation. JIST SAYING!!!
TD!
SCORE!!!!!!!!
Go Seahawks!
Well, beyond that, it seems that the young troll is just not up for the challenge.
What a freaking surprise. /sarc
Is Dallas gonna suck – again? My Bears will be the toughest guys the Pudge Fackers face all season – if they stay healthy…
I'll never forget what happened when my team won it's sixth SB… Our owner thanked Obama!
We deserved what happened to us against Green Bay last year………… We were jinxed.
Go Steelers.
Black & Gold Forever! On the stairway to seven in season 2011! Go Steelers!
With Michelle blocking? Butkus would think twice.
A good year for you guys is 4 wins………….
Sorry. That was wrong, wasn't it?
There is always the possibility that Dallas will suck…again! You may be right about Da Bears. My favorite rivalry is Packers/Bears, it doesn't seem to matter what their record is or who's got the best talent, It's just a big donnybrook!
Send him in!
http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13234/ndamukon...
sorry, I used it all.
I always thought "Gladiators" would make a great name for a pro team… for many reasons.
Because they understand how to run a football franchise and our guys don't…
Do you know why the NFL won't let Iowa have professional football team?
Because, then Illinois would want one!
I think they will suck – again… A healthy Bears team will give the Pack fits because the D knows them so well. If the O-line comes together we may have another late-January rematch. How fun would that be? Marion the Barbarian should add a nice dimension for my guys (if healthy). Biggest questions are O-line and safeties (and health). The Pack should have the best record in the conference. I hate them with a passion, but I respect what they have done recently as an organization. I am also a Blackhawks fan, but I don't let that affect my respect for the long term excellence of the Detroit RedWings…
Did'ja have a nice b-day?
Meanie!
;-p',',',',',',',',',',
Like the joke says……..God is a Packer Fan!
Packers 14
Saints 7
Obama 0
My 3 yr old granddaughter thinks football is called go go go go go. Due to the emotion and shouting I guess.
That would be fun! In a snowstorm!!!! Awesome!!!!
Yeah, I had a great b-day. Even Mother Nature gave me a present, The temp dropped from highs around 106 to highs in the eighties and it's still like that! Dang near put a sweater on!
With ya WM, I am Pgh born and raised, now living in Browns' country have pity on me.
The football season just got a little less fun for me, but I'll still be cheering the Colts on. The main thing is for Peyton to take care of his health, but it's going to be a tough year.
For my uncle, who's watching on the super big, virtual reality TV up in heaven, GO PACKERS!
Glad to hear it. Corn said you guys had cooled off considerably, and she even got a decent amount of rain…
I would be fine with a rematch at Lambeau Field…
After watching them for 50 years, 4 wins in a season was some of their better years
.
I will proudly say I'm a Giants fan. My dad was a Giants fan and he raised me to be a Giants fan. And now that he's up in Heaven, I will continue to carry that flag proudly . . . no matter how much they suck.
Try explaining that to my mother. She's no liberal; she's one of those annoying "I hate everybody and everybody sucks!" people that has no plan or ideas to offer only that: Everybody sucks. So I complain about Obama and she starts saying "Well the Republicans don't know anything." And I explain to her over and over again – "I'm an Independent Conservatarian, mom, I don't like the Republicans either, but for the same reason I don't like the Democrats."
At some point it might get through her stubborn head.
Yeah, baby! Nice to see another Giants fan.
Don't talk to me about details by the way. I'm a girl. My dad raised me a Giants fan and so I root for them, even when they suck.
Ah, wouldn't that be nice. They'll have to find someone from the military to do that.
I used to think it was called "@sshole!" because my dad, being a Giants fan, used to yell that a lot at the TV.
;-D
What speech? Its football day!
Eh, I was mostly just teasin' Sisty. There are worse and more pathetic things than being a Giants fan… Like maybe a Redskins or Eagles fan… Or a Lions or Vikings fan… Cleveland, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Carolina, Houston… Oakland… Seattle, San Francisco… Dallas… Plenty of loser teams to choose from… Big Blue did beat Tom and Bill and the Bostonians a few years back…
I swear I was raised by a dad who thought "oh, go blow your nose' was the ultimate insult. He dropped the f bomb at age 84 in front of all his grown kids and we were stunned into silence. As for me, I was banned from watching football in front of the kids because a whole different cursing me came out.
Yeah, I know. Ooh, Redskins and Dallas – YUCK!
And yes I remember when the Giants one a few years ago. It was a typical nail-biting Giants game. That's what made it fun! Nothing worse than watching one team just mow over the other one and the game is basically over after the 1st quarter.
My dad is very much like your mother,"throw them all out" . Certainly for the 2012 election I am not going to argue, dads in Maine. My aunt and uncle are just as clueless but they lean dem. I have been talking with them and trying to help them evovle with the times. They are JFK democrats and they really don't quite understand that today's dims are a far cry from those days gone bye. My brother, oh how to describe it, he is my older brother so I can't teach him anything. I'm just running with I am not a republican or a democrat and oh by the way you are dead wrong and an azz. To top it off I find out via Facebook that my cousins in WI who I met once when I was like six took part in the anti Walker rallies. I just torture them via Facebook with the facts and the outcome of Walker. In closing I am the only conservative…they will learn soon…the hard way! I would not bet that your mom will get, just a suggestion. Keep up the fight my friend!
Yes it would be refreshing. I would love to hear Norah Jones sing it straight.
Two of my top five SB were Giants victories. The aforementioned one over NE, and the 20-19 win over Buffalo. SB XX is, of course, my favorite, but Denver over GB and NE over the Rams round it out. AZ over the Steelers woulda been real nice, but they came up short. Kurt Warner should be a first ballot hall of fame inductee… Too many record setting performances to ignore with that one…
LOL! Yeah, neither of my parents cursed much when I was growing up (at least not in front of me). But I do recall that my dad did some of it in front of a Giants game and it was the only time it was apparently okay. Nothing worse than @sshole that I can remember.
Listened to the game on the net WWL AM-870 New Orleans, was a pretty good game to the last play, close one.
Another Packer win against the Saints is in the bag!!!!!!!
Didn't see the game but it must have been a good one for people who just like touchdowns.
As a Browns fan, I'm glad that Manning won't be available for Week 2. =^) Go Browns!
Didn't look like the defenses were ahead of the offenses did it?
up here in Canada….. our Western Division final in Calgary last fall featured a fourth quarter temperature nearing minus 30 degrees, lol. And yet Jerrel Freeman (a native of Dallas) of the Saskatchewan Roughriders was out there givin' 'er with bare arms…..
Before the game, I was very much of the opinion that "it isn't fair" to the players to have worked all season only to have such horrific weather possibly determine the outcome. But after watching the game and seeing them all out there going hard, I came to the conclusion that if the weather doesn't bother them, then surely it shouldnt' bother me as a fan.
"Nothing gets created in an economic climate where no one has anything to gain for themselves. "
Even the soviets responded to incentives. When factories were paid by the ton for their output of glass, they produced windows so thick you couldn't see through them. So the incentive was changed to being paid by the square foot, at which point they produced windows so thin that they would break almost upon being touched.
The Canadian Football League RULES!!!!!!
Bigger field, 3 downs, more passing…..way more exciting.
A great game with the game ending with the Saints at the one half yard line with no seconds left on the clock. Rodgers and Brees put on a fabulous show.
SB XX….
Da Bears!!!
I should have bet the over…
I always felt that weather was part of the game, the intangible thing. Some of the best games EVER were played in the worst weather, outside on real grass!
I was waiting for someone to comment on the juxtaposition of that little brown pile (out of focus in the pic) as it related to the green and gold squatter… No dice on that one I guess…
GO BEARS!!!
You know what got me? Collinsworthless called the Hawk penalty at the end of the game, before he even committed it. And to top it off, if you watched the slo-mo, you could see that before Hawk was going to go over-the-back (which is a penalty, no contest there — but then again, you can't call a penalty until it happens, not on the theory that it will happen in the future) — anyhow, the backjudge ( I think that was the ref position) started to go to his waist to pull out the 'yellow hanky' before Hawk did anything wrong. Insteresting!
I think you are right concerning the weather being part of the game. I am not a gear head and know all the ins and outs, but a more schooled friend said that weather plays a role not only for the conditions themselves but also in which team prepares for whatever the conditions are. "all that stuff is part of the game," in the same way that soft ice in a warm arena is part of the Stanley Cup.
I saw a little snippet once about the new astroturf stuff (with all the ground up rubber that sprays up) and it seemed to be essentially that surface rolled out over a slab of concrete. Jeeeeezus that must hurt when you land on that stuff.
Of course when it gets to minus 30, even if you are on a grass surface, it might as well be cement, LOL.
You are so right!
Gonna be a big one this weekend against the Ravens. Go Steelers!
This is almost as funny as democrats cutting taxes.
As a Tampa Bay fan I'm glad the Saints Lost. That's about all I can say.
funny you should mention that,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Gladiators
If Cutler is YOUR idea of a good QB I'd LOVE to know what the bad definiton is.
One of the few times this COWBOYS fan ever rooted for the G-MEN was SB XLII, just to see ERRAND BOY! and The Hoodie get theirs.
8-8. Problem is gonna be the last six games when they play Green Bay twice, New Orleans, and San Diego.
Right team. Wrong sport.
I'm sick to death of that too. Someone needs to tell these egotistical morons they aren't Quiet Riot and our national anthem isn't some obscure Slade song.
"CATCH THE DAMN BALL, YOU IDIOT" was how I originally identified it.
just wait til they play Detroit, when you'll hear Theo scream OH MY GOD! THE QUARTERBACK IS TOAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're a brave man, my friend
Better mourn when Ndamukong Suh KILLS Josh Freeman Sunday.
"I liked the part where Obama wants to cut the payroll taxes for small businesses to promote hiring"
A good jesture perhaps, but in the end its just a game of favoritism that does little to help the problem. The Fair Tax would be a much more revenue-generating, equitable, and even, dare I say it progressive, means of taxation.
*Gag*
