My last job had me working on equipment in many of the union buildings within the city. I won't get too descriptive, but it was amazing. The work ethic and general mindset I saw whenever I was there was an absolute reinforcement of the typical union stereotype. And the president of the one local was probably the best example of the worst traits. For years I was in and out of that place working on equipment that was right outside his office door. And in all that time, 11+ years, I only saw him once. And that was because I had to set something up on the computer he had in there. The office was fogged with cigarette smoke(This was after the MI smoking ban was in place.), and he was playing some golf game on the computer and watching The View. But that was the only time I ever saw him. He never left that office while he was there, he had his own bathroom, refridgerator, and microwave. I know he was there, because I would often hear him call someone in, but he never came out. The sick part is that he was making ungodly amounts of money. I know he passed away not long ago, which I'm sure had to do with his 300+ pounds, and judging by the fog in the office, 2+ pack a day habit.

I do remember being there to do some work the day after 2010 elections. The depression in that place was so thick it made the air heavy. It was like a funeral was taking place.
