In the two previous blog installments “Part 1: Quid Pro Quo” and “Part 2: Get Out Jail Free Cards” the real-life scandal of government union boss Ron Saathoff is documented. “Part 1” exposes Saathoff’s abuse of his position and taxpayers to reap a special taxpayer-funded retirement increase...

And I thought my dad was nuts, winter golfing in Cleveland…
Golfing in Besieged World War II Britain
And yet, somehow, the idea of history repeating itself, just doesn't sink into the brains ( or lack thereof !) of people who just don't bother to read or better yet, study!
Yep and WW3 is brewing in the middle east while all the brainless zombies in the media and in DC praise it as some wonderful thing with the formation of "democracy". They can have their democracy Ill keep my Republic!
Any nation Emperor Obama praises and encourages an uprising is the ones that will start the most trouble as it is/was the radicals rising up. Anytime the people were uprising against the regimes he was silent…. you all did pick up on that right?!!
We are already involved as the Emperor complains about inheriting 2 wars, ones could have just pulled us out of but no he increases US involvement, but it doesnt stop there. He authorized action in Pakistan, Libya, Syria and Yemen. How many is that now Barry? 6… Only a matter of time until it all comes apart then the final piece is laid out. The US will be to blame and "someone" will pick a direct fight with us!
You Are The Resistance… http://www.savingtherepublic.com
Yet people are still dying today from this war…………………..
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/09/01/world-war...
The coming world war, and it IS coming, may not be like the last, but it will come because far too many people have centered their lives on the unimportant while allowing evil to metastasize. Primarily in the form of socialism and islam. Political correctness, complacency, and an entitlement mentality are our bane.
Had the Progressive Herbert Hoover and the even more Progressive FDR not been in charge, WWII would not have even happened. Our world was screwed by Progressivism. Had the roaring twenties become the roaring thirties and fourties, we would have have the resources to squish the various Marxists in Europe (e.g., the Nazis, the Fascists, and the Communists).
Sorry Publius, WWII began when Germany signed the Armistice ending WWI
Oh, and
Ron Paul 2012.
And the French let them pass the Maginot Line without firing a single shot.
Kind of reminds me of LBJ and the escalation of the Vietnam war.
"Ron Paul 2012"
That would be the year of his retirement.
The French suffered between 90,000 and 120,000 KIA in May and June of 1940.
November 2008, obama declared war on the United States of America.
It will look more like the Civil War.
Those who ignore history are more than likely doomed to repeat it. Seems we haven't learned much since WWII. We have forgotten Jefferson's remarks – Friends to all entangling alliances with none. One day soon maybe our govt will wake up and realize we are not the world's police force. Counting Korea we have been involved in several police actions(Korea, Vietnam, Grenada), two wars(Iraq and Afghanistan), one non war(Libya), one skirmish(Somalia), and interference in Yemen. And all we have to show for our efforts are the expenditures of our blood and treasure. May all those who have given their all rest in peace and walk with the angels.
Cute Chuckie but wars start when the killing begins,……
not when politicians make dumb decisions.
Take your take to its ultimate conclusion and,……
one can rationalize that,…..
the start of WWII was when,……..
Adam took the apple from Eve.
and the start of liberal comeback.
And like England and France,…..
we should have declared war the following day.
LBJ's Democrat Congress came up the idea of raiding Social Security to finance 'The Great Society' and look where it has led us. Never let a lib run a war. The beneficiary of the Vietnam War was LBJ's buddies, Brown & Root who rebuilt South Vietnam on taxpayer dollars. Billions of dollars of fraud in Iraq and Afghanistan? Lets check that out! Watch the fraud with Libya.
That is because German violated the agreement to disarm while Wilson did disarm the United States, Britain and France who were unprepared for Germany's rearmament thanks to liberal anti-war types in all three governments.
I don't think (and fervently hope) that we'll ever see a major land-based war in Europe again. The ME and here is another story . And it will not take much of a spark to set-off in either location.
If memory serves, it was due in part to both their antiquated material and the pompus French generals thinking more of a WWI battlefield. Neither the French nor the British were prepared for a modern war of rapid deployment and movement.
One of our most awake and articulate citizen assets Pamela Gellar says it best about the war we are now engaged in:
http://www.youtube.com/user/atlasshrugs2000#p/f/2...
The fight for our lives and our future is going on around us right now. No time to sit on our laurels.
And the World was forever changed.
All it took as the fanatic visions of one man.
It took the world six long, blood-soaked, years,
with the loss of millions of lives,
to stem the tide of Fascism.
Today, we are at war with a similar Fascism.
A silent, creeping Fascism, that has attacked US from within.
It is openly on display, its members proudly proclaiming themselves.
In the membership of the Congressional Black Caucus,
and the Progressive Congressional Caucus.
I can hear ol' Uncle Joe snickering "just as planned" from hell right now.
That comeback will take a generation, Ralph. If we do this right, "liberalism" and "progressivism" will be equated with insanity. As it should.
CR, there is truth to Chuck's statement. Had the treaty of Versailles not been so damning, Hitler might not have gained control of Germany. If memory serves, Wilson even opposed the harsh treatment of Germany by England and France.
Along with Keynesian economics.
ol' Uncle Joe is due to be stoked with another burning coal about now.
Well said, CL.
We are at war with more than one similar Fascism as sharia slithers into our legal framework and into gullible young skulls full of mush at our universities where they are teaching sharia finance among other aspects of mudhamman's curse on the world.
Oh, and nope.
If somehow the people and society of today were the ones alive at this time, as Germany invaded Poland, can you imagine the words and deeds of people today?
Ron Paul would appease Hitler and preach his isolationist crap just like he does today with Islam.
Obama would go golfing with Hitler and make up non-offensive terms for German Invaders like he does with Terrorists today.
Allen West would call the Nazi's out on the carpet and vociferously argue they were a REAL threat to the USA.
Sarah Palin would tell huge crowds of people that we need to defend our allies, and step up to the plate and do the right thing.
All the anti-semite trolls on the Bigs would march around in their Hitler Youth outfits. Oh I'm sorry, the same as they do that today…
My 2 cents. America of 1940's would totally kick America of 2010's a$$… Were these things to happen today, I fear too many in USA lack the spine and moral courage to stand up and fight. Shortly we would Sprechen Ze Deutch…
Grenada was more of a rescue operation, so you can take that off the list.
How did Jefferson feel about the Barbary Pirates? Do you call that a "police action"?
200 Protestors or Rent a Democrat Mob showed up outside where Eric Cantor was holding an Advisory Council Meeting near Richmond VA yesterday. He is also my Rep.
The guy screaming into the megaphone looks like he belongs to the Black Panthers.
http://www2.wsls.com/news/2011/sep/01/tdmet01-abo...
Is anyone else out there seeing this type of activity at your Reps. office?
I forgot about the pirates. Thanks. But that was long before WWII. With regard to Grenada, the US did invade under the auspices of saving the students. The truth of the matter was to let Castro know that the US would not allow Castro to expand his influence in the Caribbean.
"Some people were provided transportation to the site, according to Virginia Organizing, a left-leaning grass-roots organization that coordinated the event with other groups, including the Service Employees International Union
Let me fix that. ALL of those people got a ride from either OFA or SEUI.
I had a half dozen uncles, and my father-in-law who fought Tojo, Mussolini, and Hitler. These unassuming men had a lions heart, the heart of a free American, and though they are all gone, their legacy is ours now – - what will we do with it?
It still wouldn't go on your list. We DID rescue U.S. citizens and we DID convince Castro that it was in his best interest not to leave his little island. As with the pirates, there has to be a point as to when the U.S. should act in order to preserve its interests.
If we had allowed Castro to take over the Caribbean islands, behind backed by the U.S.S.R., what would you consider to be the stopping point? Do we wait until he had taken over all the islands? Waited until he started invading South American countries? Waited until he moved up to Central American countries? Both full of unstable governments. Or, do we wait until he attacks the Keys or Florida itself?
Yes, some interventions should be out of the hands of U.S., but there has to be a point when the U.S. intervenes in order to stop a larger issue further down the road. Hence, the Marshal Plan after WWII as a lesson learned from WWI.
Good morning, FC. Communists coming to a neighborhood near you?
Yep. 'Not so sure about Allen West, though.
A series of political events starting with Versailles (as you correctly point out),….
up to 1939 could have indeed prevented the start of hostilities (war).
War is the ultimate form of resolving the inability of our learned leaders,……
in order to avoid what the common man must resolve with his blood.
Yep. Too close for comfort.
My mom called me from work because a coworker had told her they shut down the highway and the police were called.
This is happening leading up to Obama's BIG JOBS announcement next Thursday. So the question is, will the Republicans allow themselves to get manipulated again by this regime to pass some stupid bill?
Morning BTW. I have pollen allergies again and reading this makes me even crankier.
It's a shame that WWII had to break out. Germany rebuilt from economic ruin after WWI, and instead of pursuing peace and trade war had to destroy everything again.
And what did the Weimar Republic do that caused the economy to collapse so that the Nazi's could take over? That's right, they printed money.
Hitler won the Nazi Party vote by ONE vote. Vote against Obama next November because every vote counts.
Why Mr. Chamberlain, how nice of you to join us.
He's movin' kinda slow, now: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=petticoat+jun...
You do know that Hitler met with the Muslims of his time, wanting to form an alliance as their factions were so closely mirrored.
Hell, they even planted trees on the sides of the roads so the Germans could march in the shade…
What consistently strikes me as relevant is how little time has passed since then.
The history has already been rewritten to such a degree that the wars gravity is lost upon people from grade school right on up to the retiring adult. We have no clue because the lessons are not taught.
And to make matters more depressing, when the lessons are taught like the Jews consistent harping on the Holocaust, they are called out for trying to manipulate and shame the populace for their own benefit. At least they have the good sense to want to live to see another day.
Pop quiz of the day….
When American Capitalists(GE, GM etc) were ready to loan the German Government the necessary funds to stem the spiraling inflation what individual nixed the whole deal due to a hidden loan that would have divulged a corruption at the top?)
The resulting hyper inflation ushered a clever loser into power who is purported to have used this information to gain power.
How so very true.
TheGnatKingHatesCoal?! Heheheheh… That moniker is, ah,
Unforgettable.
Yeah, we're gonna be a while scrubbing the unforgettable GnatKing off of us…
Was Grenada not a policing action?
It won't be a cold war much longer, considering the overt efforts to incite violence….
Those Malthusians may get their wish to trim-off the excess population…..
He did more than meet with them. 13th Waffen Mountain Division – muslim Bosniaks and others, the Ostmusselmanische SS-Regiment, the Arabisches Freiheitskorps….
http://histclo.com/essay/war/ww2/cou/ger/mil/for-...
and many other references. History shows that muslims seem to allign with whoever they can in order to kill Jews, and our despicable lame stream media continues to suck up to them.
It was a rescue operation. Instead of removing the hostages/victims, the military instead, removed the threat.
In removing that threat, the military reduce further danger as a side note.
Now for your question.
What is the situation, outside of U.S. territory, in which the U.S. should engage in military action? In other words, at what point is the line in the sand crossed that the U.S. should engage?
You might say he was……*stallin'*
Morning my Virginian Sis. Hey, you know what I will be watching on Thursday night? Packer vs. Saints. Now normally I would care about his speech but it will be exactly the same as the one he gave one year ago so…
If the game get pre-empted by his buffoonish prattle I will be sure to withhold some of my income tax for entertainment expense losses.
Yes, same here……..GO PACK GO! I knew Aaron would become a good QB studying under Favre all of those years.
I'm actually surprised we haven't all shot our boob tubes at this point any way. I stopped watching him WAY back in 09. I could feel high blood pressure coming on, an ulcer and I already had a full blown case of insomnia LOL.
Why, to protect Polish neutrality? Good luck selling that one to 1939 America, Mr. President.
Remember to bring a bucket of rocks.
Thanks for the link, tt. So you didn't spill "pepper" on yourself?
)
None of which I'm aware. That I live in a very red district, in a very red state, may have something to do with the absence of mobs who have not one whit of understanding of economics, of business, or of the factors that influence the success of a business, one that grows and employs people.
The standoffish email says Obama will push Congress to act, but "whether they will do the job they were elected to do is ultimately up to them."
But both you and I can pressure them to do the right thing. We can send the message that the American people are playing by the rules and meeting their responsibilities—and it's time for our leaders in Congress to meet theirs.

Good for you.
VA was a very red state until the libtards started moving into northern part of the state. We voted in a conservative Governor in 09 after having so called moderate Dems in for a while. We had a surplus in our budget the first year, imagine that!
Obama the greatest *promoter* of the 2nd amendment!
Off topic but it is open thread, while former President Bill Clinton is out making more money giving speeches this is what George Bush is doing http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=8TiGYDvc4lU&...
Until the wife and I decided to raise our kids in a country setting, we lived in various locales in/around D.C. in the late 70's through the 80's. So I'll confess that I recall the demographics of N. Va. and the People's Republic of Maryland right well.
D.C. Metro during that time was a great place and time to buy and sell houses. That was not my day job, but flipping houses back before flipping was cool, was a great way to supplement a single income so mom could stay home with the young'uns.
I believe that you are correct. VERSAILLES guaranteed WWII would happen, that is pretty much agreed on by students of war. FYI: Middle East conflict and Vietnam both came out of Versailles.
My opinion is that there was actually only 1 war. That so many soldiers were killed, the stalemate so dense, that it took a generation to basically reload and come up with a solution to trench warfare. Then, the war took off again. Some battle lines, pretty much the same parties, same two-front war Germany faced, many of the same leaders still in place, the Generals of WWII were captains in WWI.
For some, no less than our best. For the remainder, TBD…
Mr. FC and I had our own real estate business and he had just gotten his broker's license when the bottom fell out. We just shut it down like the responsible thing to do and he went back into the work force. You didn't see me standing around asking for a bailout! Foreclosures are back logged four years. I have stayed at home our whole marriage and I home school my kids which starts next week. Kudos to you and the Mrs. for supporting the SAHM (stay at home mom) thing. I wouldn't have it any other way.
The sad thing is that there is still a lot of hurt feelings over slavery in the former Confederate Capitol where I live. They still have slavery protests down in the Shockhoe Bottom where they used to off load slaves from the James River. It does no one no good to be focused on the past. I'm not racist at all and have black friends and so do my kids.
Obama has damaged race relations. I fear it will take a long time for this to heal.
Incidentally, my husband brought home a book about the "Boy Brigade" who fought in the Civil War. They were from the Richmond and surrounding areas. The author is from Fredricksburg.
And how many people realize we have not won WWII and are still fighting it?
All you have to do is realize we have not annihilated all the Nazis. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/816232/pos...
Oh sure, we defeated the Nazis in Germany, but not the ones who still worship Hitler today elsewhere.
A quick anecdote. My kids who are now 20 and 24, and have never really been hard core liberal or conservatives, but thought that Barry would be swell. Now three years hence, and they think he sucks, as do most of their friends, who I’ve overheard talking about Barry, and the condition of the country. My point, there is hope for the future, it’s our generation that needs it’s a$$ kicked, the fifty to seventy year olds. We must educate, and explain the good points and the absurdity that was the ‘60s and ‘70s. We are being led by radicals and their spawn, as promised. It’s time to set the record straight, and expose these creeps for who, and what they are…America hating bastards.
It's a train wreck of a proportion not seen since the Depression of the 30's. The silver lining is if a person is fortunate enough to be in a position to buy real estate, it's a great time. On the other hand, if a person is in the position that requires they sell real estate, not so much.
I salute you and Mr. FC.
What else could a rednecked, knuckle-dragging, bitter-n-clingy, Neanderthal such as myself do?
Neither would we… And now that the kids are grown and gone, I hear faint rumblings from them every so often on the topic of how they now appreciate having had their mom at home for them. Just goes to show that there are things money can not buy.
Funny how so many kids will adapt to and even embrace reality when, as adults, that reality gets in their face and snarls. I have a good deal of confidence in most young people. Heck, I can almost remember being one of em.
Blame? Yep, we of the boomer generation have much to regret. First and foremost, at least IMO, is that we trusted those elected to represent us to do the right things for the nation while most of us distractedly worked to build homes, raise families, and pay Federal, FICA, State, Local, Sales, Fuel, and Business taxes, etc., etc., etc. all while not doing our due diligence in all matters of civil affairs.
That said, there is plenty of blame to go around if one were to coldly consider the whole. We could say that the previous generation irresponsibly coddled and indulged the boomers, who in turn did the same to the subsequent generations, and worse, we ignored them while we focused elsewhere. To assuage the guilt of spending insufficient time with the young'uns, we bribed them and they grew to believe in the mythical free-lunch.
Such are the generalities a person can use to assign blame to groups. Stick in the mud that I am, I try not to dwell on blame but look for the fixes. Oh, how I'm looking forward to the primary season.
Wow, look, those tanks are so little compared to the monsters we have now.
Agreed. The best gifts you can give your child as a parent are to love God and love your spouse.
I've heard that the banks are sitting on two trillion dollars until this train wreck gets out of the house.
Even in Mexico, it seems. President of the world.
Depending on how this plays out for the next 1.5 years, who would have thought we might actually be thanking those evil bankers?
Yeah. The IRS will receive 12,000 shotguns.
Rush was yukkin' it up on his opening monologue that everyone will be watching the opening game. Obama also put NBC is a hard place b/c advertizes have bought spots for the hours leading up to the game. I guess there are concerts and stuff too.
What to do, what to do when you are an azz kisser of Obama.
They are playing it wise. Maybe lending will start up again if we can win.
So true but then, all they had to contend with were horses. Sixteen countries swept through in a mere four months.
That harkens back to that old saying attributed to Churchill, to paraphrase, “if you’re under twenty-one and not a liberal, you don’t have a heart, if you’re over twenty-one and not a conservative, you don’t have a brain.” Colors the picture quite well, don’t you think?
I know. I minded my business, ran my company, raised my children, and played by the rules, as I thought all Americans did…silly me. No longer is “conservative apathy” okay. We must stay engaged and use everything in our arsenal to fight back, which is substantial.
Indeed the children of WWII are most definitely the spoiled generation, as opposed to the Greatest.
I haven’t been this worked up about an election since 1980.
Germans at home were all taken in with a fake "invasion" by Poland against their homeland. The Nazis created a small battle scene complete with dead criminals stuffed into Polish army uniforms, and tossed them around a village from which faked broadcasting was done.
That's how Hitler justified the invasion of Poland to the Germans.
To advance gun control Obama needed justification.Only the violence was in Mexico. Victims included at least one US law enforcement officer. And Fast and Furious and operation Gun Runner fueled that increased violence.
The free world has to stop Obama, Hillary and Holder. They are very dangerous people playing dangerous games.
General Pershing said that the premature Armistice meant another war with Germany in a few decades. But, what did he know?
Unprepared how?
Britain and France had been rearming, and depending on how you rate such things did have some superior ordinance. The problem they faced was the massively superior German doctrine.
The anti-war types were responsibile – the French could have fought Hitler when he moved into the Rhineland in 1935 (IIRC). They just didn't have the will to fight or spend the money.
"Thus he [General Fox Conner, Ike's mentor] was convinced that the Versailles Treaty after World War I was a badly conceived document — that is almost guaranteed another world war within a quarter of a century unless it should be quickly and drastically modified." Dwight D. Eisenhower. Conner told Ike this in 1921.
Except it wasn't the Weimar Republic printing money that caused the economy to collapse.
It was the Weimar Republic adhering to the terms of the Treaty of Versailles that caused the economy to collapse.
Had they not been forced to ship off all their trains, surrender all their mines, sell their food surpluses at massive discounts, and had their industrial centers occupied and exploited, their economy would have recovered quite nicely. And since they had to give up all their gold reserves, they had nothing available to use as money other than what they printed.
The hyper-inflation caused by printing money was merely a symptom of the collapse at that point, not the cause of it. The alternative would have been abandoning money completely and reverting to barter, which would have destroyed the industrial base completely, and left Germany as an agricultural colony to be fought over from then on. Of course that's what many would have preferred, both then and after WW II, but it would hardly have made much difference to the people exactly how their economy was extirpated.
You're correct. Weapon-for-weapon comparisons don't tell much of the story — it's how those weapons were employed; German tactical doctrine (on the ground and in the air) was vastly superior in 1940.
I think the real difference was in strategic planning, though. The Germans executed an excellent (and fairly risky) plan of attack (the armored thrust through the Ardennes) and Allies reacted EXACTLY as called for by the plan (the advance into Belgium to "meet" the Germans, who would shortly turn up behind them).
It absolutely defied the maxim: "No plan survives contact with the enemy." This plan could not have worked as well as it did without the enemy's cooperation.
My rep is Fred Upton.
I'm typing this under curly light bulb light…
I concur.
The only mistake the Germans wound up making was trusting Goering to win Dunkirk. If they hadn't done that . . .
Recommend you read an outstanding book-Winston Churchill's "Memoirs of WWII" which begins by explaining the end of WWI, League of Nations, Treaty with Germany (Wilson) were the cause of WWII by which he meant the disarmament of Europe/US. This position prevailed until sadly the Germans walked through Poland and then Belgium, literally pushing the British off the shores. This book is fantastic, an abridgement of six volumes on WWII. Lets face it, Churchill basically ran WWII for the Allies. He uses his daily journals. This book is the source of my comments, I was not there.
We are talking about the same US that was so isolationist that even as late as the summer of 1941, over 80% of the nation opposed directly joining the war? The US whose population in 1939 was overwhelmingly in favor of strict neutrality policies, and against the selling of war materials and loans to the British and French? The US who was pulled kicking and screaming into the war only by Pear Harbor, a direct attack on us?
As much as we like to glamorize the Greatest Generation, the fact was that in 1939, no one in the US was willing to even consider a war to save Poland, and even the thought of joining to save Britain was rather heated as late as 1941. The US of the time was vehemently isolationists, with export embargoes on war goods, and a prevailing sense that Britain had stabbed us in the back in WW1, and that it was not in our best interest to join in this "European War". It took years for attitudes to shift, and it wasn't until 1941 that attitudes had begun to shift towards intervening in Britain's favor. The US did begin to see rearmament, and there was some aid granted to Britain, like our occupying Greenland and Iceland, but much of this assistance had to be done with a low profile in order to make it politically acceptable. Neutrality patrols in the Atlantic were often given little publicity, and Lend Lease was sold as merely a temporary loan, and that the US was not simply giving vital war goods to Britain, but rather that it was merely a temporary affair that would be repaid later (a baldfaced lie as it turned out).
Nice Video! Thanks for posting it.
I also watched another yesterday where he was golfing with Vets (Also on FOX News), in the interview he said he is going to spend the rest of his time doing things with Vets, I know that every time a plane load of Vets come home to Texas he and Laura are there to greet them, you will not see this in the lame stream media
