In the two previous blog installments “Part 1: Quid Pro Quo” and “Part 2: Get Out Jail Free Cards” the real-life scandal of government union boss Ron Saathoff is documented. “Part 1” exposes Saathoff’s abuse of his position and taxpayers to reap a special taxpayer-funded retirement increase...

As of 3am, it's been downgraded to a Cat1. I'm sure there will be flooding, loss of power and minor structure damage up the East Coast, even up to MA, but it won't be nearly as bad as they originally thought. Hope everyone in the path is safe and acts wisely.
Prayers going out to all of our east coast Patriots. May God protect you.
These things always crap out by the time they hit land.. all that hype of biblical level storm was a waste as usual. I dont get why we always have to subjected to such fanatical rants. The insane news coverage is still going on. Saw Fox had some lady live on the phone bou t her big decision to stay and ride it out. Yea I would too b/c they are never what the weather terrorists make them out to be! Any massive storm that is of high threat that forms 2-4days out at sea NEVER hits mainland as the beast its said to be.
The news outlets will be disappointed if there is not more destruction. Tradgedy is their favorite event.
If the northeast coastline gets even a smidgen, of what a really hurricane is like, hopefully they won't mess around with the next one! Oh, yeah. there will be another one!
Everyone on the Right Coast please be safe regardless of the category of the storm. All it takes is one big branch falling on your head and its "GAME OVER!"
Be safe, use common sense, and pray for others to be safe as well.
It is too bad this storm wont wash this administration out to sea, but hopefully Hurricane Palin in November 2012 will…
Be well. God Bless.
'Nuff said…
Didn't catch his name, but Levin had a guy on last night who was talking about how serious the over-
hyping of these storms is. His concern is folks won't listen when there really is a BIG one, because
the media seems to try and make EVERY one"THE" BIG ONE.
I'm so GLAD to be in drouth stricken TEXAS today…

Starbucks’ Schultz Says 100 Leaders to Halt Campaign Giving
Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) Chief Executive Officer Howard Schultz said more than 100 business leaders have joined his pledge to boycott U.S. political campaign donations. http://www.facebook.com/UpwardSpiral2011?sk=app_1...
WoooHoooo !!
COMMUNISTS HATE THE GOP AND LOVE OBAMA:
http://trevorloudon.com/2011/08/communist-leader-...
Obama … dearest Obama the most merciful one, surely if you can make the oceans of the world recede you can calm the winds …
"This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."
I promise to always eat my peas.
I hope it's not as bad as they say it's going to be.
I'm in D.C. and we're just gonna get wet from the rain, but my old hometown on the Island (Long Beach, about a half-mile wide between the ocean and the channel) could be underwater. My brother and his family are still up there, and he's planning on bugging out. Way back when, our usual drill was to help dad batten down the hatches at the house and then go body-surfing.
I don't know what is worse,……
those who make a mockery of our political system or,…….
those who turn their backs on it and allow,…..
the mockery to continue.
We seam to have lowered the bar on just about everything,……
in the past few years,……
why not on what we shall now deem,……
as a "catastrophic event"
A chicken in every pot and,…….
a FEMA in every community.
I wonder if the Obamunist is going to take credit for Irene dropping down to a Cat 1 hurricane….all that "Hype" caused it to change…..
Wonder what's going on in the real world today?
YAWN!!! It is going to be interesting to see how the bastion of LIBERALISM fares over the next 48 hours.
Since my part of the country is in a severe drought, I'd like to see a redistribution of weather.
I have just decided that I like Hurricanes http://news.yahoo.com/photos/woman-tans-empty-bea... .
I think I might become a storm chaser.
That was cute.
Mine too. My prediction is that, as hurricanes go, this one is going to do some damage in NC and thereafter be much like a fart in a whirlwind.
This shoulda caused a storm;
Secret Service Buys Two New $1.1 Million Buses For Three-Day Trip…
US President Barack Obama (C) walks to his bus as he arrives in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Minnesota, August 15, 2011, where he is to begin his three-day bus tour in the Midwest centering on ways to grow the economy. (AFP PHOTO/Jim WATSON)
He FLYS into an airport somewhere in the midwest, hops into a brand new 1.1 Million $ bus, paid for by you and me, for a “bus tour” ‘around the midwest’, and after an hour or so, gets driven back to the airport for ANOTHER FLIGHT, lands at another airport where another 1.1 Million $ brand new black bus is waiting for him… and repeats all that until his midwest bus‘tour’ is done?? Oh yes……and THEN he leaves on a 12 day vacation to Martha's Vineyard…….to REST UP from this campaign bus tour!
And don't forget……..those brand new shiny black buses aren’t DRIVEN to the location where they meet Obama. Those buses are loaded up on one or more C-17s. Then, they are flown to the destination ahead of AirForce-1.
AND!…….this is REPEATED FOR EVERY CAMPAIGN STOP.
On this 'bus tour', the Prez will lecture the 'little people' on how they need to live within their means and cut-back! Remember when very recently Obama told that family man to GO BUY A HYBRID VAN when he said he couldn’t afford to fill up his truck????
Obama's 'carbon footprint' must be as large as most cities by now.
All of this on the taxpayer's dime…..But remember, this is NOT a campaign trip – it is "Meet with the people" trip only! So that the DNC does NOT pay a cent for all of this.
You all are titty baby whiners. I live in Florida and we eat hurricanes for breakfast.
Dust devil Eileen sure is dominating the news. Because there certainly isn't anything else worth reporting now is there?

Jan 2013 and beyond should be entertaining. The Obama's will no longer have the bevy of personal assistants paid for by us. No dressers (personal wardrobe assistants), no hairdressers, no make-up artist, no maids, no butlers, no personal trainers, no chefs, no car-washers, no personal assistants to pick up the dry cleaning and groceries, no secretaries, no private pilots… Just a few Secret Service Agents not prone to tidying up after the Obama's. I doubt they will be able to keep anymore than 1 full time domestic and 1 person can not keep pace with these demanding idiots. His pension will only go so far and he may not get big ass speaking engagements. They may have to LIVE on a BUDGET!
America has never seen a Storm like HURRICANE OBAMA ! It has hit every city, every town in 57 States' causing catastrophic devastation. ( 60 counting the ones he didn't visit ) . Cleanup begins November 2012.
I am not sure exactly what you are saying.
I get the impression that companies are speaking and acting with their purse strings.
The companies were De facto Pac's
And they see the elected officials as not acting in the best interest of the country or their constituents.
The elite libs are sipping TEA it seems.
They are already jumping off the piers to go surfing this morning.
A much a do about nothing.
You'd think someone would write a song about that. /s
Peace and tranquility do not sell very well…..
What's the motive? This turd business owner also fully supports cap and trade. He is probably one of those leftists that does not believe obama is "left" enough.
I no longer buy anything starbucks……
Many who are staying are doing so for the opportunity of looting, sure there are immovably stubborn people but there are also allot of crooks.
Many of the "victims" of Katrina actually stayed behind just so they could go looting in the chaos of the hurricane's aftermath.
Take Washington DC, New York and Atlantic City, mix in a hurricane, poorly educated welfare dependents, chaos in law enforcement and the loss of electricity and VOILA! the perfect storm for looters is born.
Of course after many of the looters will drown and the media will blame George W. Bush and John Boehner for their deaths even if bodies are found clutching bags full of jewelry, new stereos or 3-D TVs..
Thanks for the chuckle!
And weren't those two taxpayer-financed, 1.1 Million dollar campaign event buses built in Canada.
The entire event…of a mega-wasteful campaign swing…financed by taxpayerss…on a Canadian-built bus…in order to tour the midwest…and blame his lousy performance on everybody and everything…right before heading off to posh Martha's Vineyard, as the economy contines crumbling….
Seems like one big FU to Amerca.
LOL… "Wonder what's going on in the real world today?"
Some politician (s) are stealing us blind somewhere… but you knew that… ; )
Happy Trails, ryda!
.
Nice comment TJ… they can keep that "weather", I'd like to see a redistribution of moisture… ; )
.
Must be European…LOL… like those hairy pits CL?;-D
.
What a "Racist ,TeaBagger,Conservative " thing to say !!
Those people are just practicing the"Spread the Wealth" message they got from the POTUS.
Don't you know that they are "Entitled" ?
Go say 5 "Hail Obama's" and beg forgiveness !

We have a tropical storm warning here in Richmond VA. My power has been blinking, but so far, we are good to go. There are already 1,300 people in my area without power and the worst is supposed to hit this afternoon.
Shadow, not hair.
Although it sort of reminds me of the old joke about a baseball pitcher and a girl in the stands. Last line is "flies"…but I won't tell the whole thing.
By the state cops no less. Funny that the local cops cruised by and wished him luck.
Storm chaser. Is she an X man (X person?) or a stripper, CL?
LOL
Precisely. Cry wolf every month for a decade, then see if anyone is still listening.
That's the main reason many people in New Orleans didn't evacuate.
former President b.clinton reports that the storm is just a lewinsky
As a friend of mine pointed out, $1.1M was probably the base price, before they hardened it and added the Presidential communication system. Probably more like $5M all tricked out.
Anyone look at the $1M plus mobile party houses some of the Hollywoodies are using, featured the other day on Drudge?
But, but… but… daddy-O told us those N'awlinians stayed behind because they were too poor…
'member? LOL, as far as I was concerned mother nature was just thinning the herd, by natural
selection methods… Seems it works every time.
.
That over-hype stuff will get people killed in the future.
Hurricane Ivan-wife and kids left day before it hit, it took them over 13 hours to make what is normally a 6 hour drive. I got home from work a couple hours after they left. I needed to finish boarding up, grab the boat & dogs & head out. That evening, I was packed & boat was hitched to the truck & dogs were acting stupid. But the roads outta here were just long parking lots. I decided to try and sleep for 2 hours then get up when traffic was clear. Well after this sleep & see thing turned into the next morning because traffic never did clear. I decided it would be better to get at least a couple hours away [50-100 miles]. As I started putting the last items in the truck, the local weather guy said 'the storm has turned'. I spent the next hour watching and sure enough, I decided to stay home. It was close. We still lost power and had some bad weather, but not life threatening. It could have went way worse.
I wasn't prepared to stay under those conditions-it wasn't part of the plan. But the plan I did have didn't work. I got lucky. Whether it's storms or finances or whatever, you need to have a contingency plan.
It's weakening even further. By the time it gets up here to NH, it'll be weaker than a chipotle fart. (granted, it'll probably smell better)
"Plans" of that nature rarely last much past the first wave of the event, do they? Seems they may be
more for giving us peace of mind than helping us survive. I wonder if any economist has ever both-
ered to study the cost to the citizenry of these mass evacuations. I guess that is something one
should factor into their family budget when buying homes in coastal communities. Add that onto
the premium for housing near "the water", I suppose. Heh, heh… I'll take the plains, and risk dodg-
ing the tornadoes. Compared to hurricanes their footprint is minute…

NOAA’s Phony “Hurricane” Coming On Shore With 33 MPH Winds
NOAA claims the winds are 85 MPH, but none of the Weather Underground stations in the area report higher than 33 MPH winds. By definition, this is not a hurricane – and is just barely a tropical storm http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/noa...
When I came here [NOLA area] 20+ years ago, I was completely ignorant to hurricanes. But I came here needing a job really bad.
The following is something I put on FB yesterday. It kinda fits your post-costwise-kinda.
After watching some of the video of mildly long lines at gas stations and roads with folks evacuating, I was wondering how many Volt, Prious & other EV's will be left behind because you just can't use them to evacuate. And if you do have one of these itty bitty smart cars, how much of your stuff can you actually take with you. I guess if everybody had electric vehicles, they couldn't have mandatory evacuations could they?
God Bless & Happy Trails!
The wanted Andrew, but got Andre. Check please garçon.
LOL…I'm ALWAYS looking for the silver lining… You made me think of how fortunate those who
could leave those EV's behind to be drowned… perhaps enabling their owners to collect some
insurance on them. Wonder how many would make the EV choice a second time?;-D
Thanks, Same to you BD!
.
The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.
-Ronald Reagan
Sorry I think I will stick with NOAA and not on your phoney website.
If you watch any of the live coverage, you can see that these winds aren't just 33 mph winds.. they're much stronger than that. This may not be the monster hurricane that was expected, but it's still a dangerous storm. I don't quite understand the cynicism about it here, I guess.
Anyone who is making light of this Hurricane either has not been paying attention or just ignorant. All along the meteorologists have been saying that it was not the category of this storm, but the fact at the size of this storm, how slow it is moving prolonging the wind/rain event and storm surge during high tides. Many East coast states have had over 10 plus inches of rain this month alone making the ground saturated and no where's for the water to go. You also have to look at the fact that most Hurricanes when they come to shore, loose their strength because the storm no longer has the moisture to feed it, thus peters out. This storm is different because it is not going to make a complete landfall and will be partially over water as it moves up the coast. The worry here is flooding due to the large amount of rain that will fall, especially in areas where they already have had large amounts of rain earlier this month.
Please heed the warnings and get out while you can as it is better to be safe than sorry.
Looks like my troll is still following me.
Hi troll! Having a good day? I hope so!
I thought that Obama said that the Japanese earthquake cost American jobs. It looks to me that they created a couple and it's government sticking a nose where it doesn't belong that is causing job losses.
I wonder why you'd get a thumbs down for that?
Here in New England it;s supposed to hit at high tide, which doesn't bode well either.
Dirty laundry, baby. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46bBWBG9r2o
I think the budget will include a teleprompter so he can try to make money giving speeches to liberal colleges, just like Bubba did when he left office.
As an extra, added bonus, kiddies, Moochelle promises to fly around in her own, private AirForce2 747, also at taxpayer expense, to enjoy shopping, sightseeing, and eating trips galore, with her harem of servants in tow.
The "(C)" after the name was a nice touch.
I am hoping for oblivion like Plains Georgia's prodigy.
Near Fredericksburg Va.—been raining since 10:00, (now 5:20), getting some good gusts of wind. Sitting here drinking a Guinness, waiting for some of my pine trees to give up the ghost. If and when they do, hope they fall away from the house.
Freaking trolls are lurking in the area, that is why. Plus he/she is For the Constitution, which goes against everything a lousy troll stands for.
Sometimes I could go for one of those, I got to admit.
You said it well, Va. brother.
There are many partisans in them there parts, but we will be ok.
Thank you & Bless you brother Yossarian22.
So far (knock on my big wooden head) we still have power, we have only got one minor leak (at least in the one house I am living in, my rentals might be another matter). the storm is supposed to be bad here until 1am and then start ramping down. the wind is HOWLING outside…
Be well my brothers and sisters, all-o-y'all!
God Bless.
I am already pissed off at how much 24/7 wall to wall coverage it is getting even though it has amounted to no big deal at all. But I suppose the cable outlets have discussed it and concluded 'Well, we already sent out the newstrucks and reporters, we gotta hype it now" LOL
BINGO!
Yeah, yeah….Living your "Key Largo" fantasy, I get it. LOL. You gotta admit that sooner or later the odds could catch up with you. If you end up in the ER one day with a hurricane propelled chunk of 2 by 4 in your chest you may say "Maybe they are not such a cakewalk". LOL But I did give you a "thumbs up".
I said it days ago, and I'll say it again. Obama will use Irene as an excuse next month if figures for the economy gets worse, and he will use them as a affirmation of his "great leadership, ideas and policies" if things improve by even a tick or just remain the same. It's a win-win situation for him either way.
