Rep. Weiner Staff Calls Cops on CBS News Reporter (but Not the Alleged Hacker)

WASHINGTON (CBSNewYork) — Congressman Anthony Weiner said Thursday he’s finished talking about the lewd photo sent from his Twitter account.
But he still wouldn’t say whether he’s the one in the picture.
So CBS 2 political reporter Marcia Kramer decided to go to his office on Capitol Hill to try to get you some answers.
You’ll never believe what happened.
Kramer tried to get an interview with the six-term New York Democrat and as a result had the cops called on her.
Kramer walked in to Weiner’s office, announced herself as being from CBS 2 in New York City and said she’d like to see the congressman. Those few words created quite the stir. Doors slammed and people pretended she wasn’t there.
Finally, brave press secretary David Arnold arrived. The following is the exchange Kramer had with him:
Kramer: “All I want is for him to say something to his constituents, the people who have to vote for him.”
Arnold: “I don’t think you can say he hasn’t said anything to his constituents. He spoke for nine hours yesterday.
Kramer: “But not to anyone in New York. You know, this is the sort of in-the-bunker in the capitol, not to anyone in New York.”
After Kramer left Weiner’s office, his staff called the Capitol Police.

Salacious headline aside, there seems to be something missing from this story. I find it difficult to see why the cops were called if Kramer had already left the office, unless there were something more to the visit. I think we'll be hearing more….

MY theory for what it is worth? He is a newlywed and newly married couples do lots of things…and I believe that is a photo of him that he took…because he will not deny that point. However, it was intended to go to his wife…and her only! He could have made a mistake when sending and/or he was actually hacked and when the photo was revealed THEY decided to send it around as a joke!
At any rate it needs to be investigated…and since he won't tell the truth…let the truth be revealed…as was that picture!

Well maybe he does. If we're talking about grown women in their 20s before he was married, then more power to him. They're probably preying on him (status, wealth, power) as much as he's preying on them (prestige, arm candy, sex).
If we're talking about underage girls, he'll deserve worse than he gets. But making or implying that accusation before all the evidence and explanations are heard is as evil as the act itself if it turns out to be untrue.
And if this liberal Democrat, or any other politician, Democrat or Republican, stalks underage girls, engages in perverse acts, distributes obscene pictures, or betrays his own wife, then his credibility and respectability are destroyed; and he should be ceremoniously kicked out of office.
Character matters. But if people jump to conclusions and make or imply ugly accusations that turn out to be untrue, their character is no better, and they will… and should… lose all credibility themselves.

I'm inclined to think this whole "scandal" involves something more on the level of a poorly conceived and executed prank, or an embarrassing internet communications blunder, maybe by Weiner himself or his wife. Maybe that's why he doesn't want to answer embarrassing questions or get thoroughly investigated. As you say, "Well one never knows… what goes on behind closed doors…RIGHT?" Right. And if the door inadvertently got left open a crack, those unintentionally exposed should not be expected to give a detailed public account of their private activities.
If Weiner has done something bad then he'll deserve what he gets, maybe more. But as far as I know, no one has claimed to be a victim or that he has harmed them in any way. My concern is that until some seriously incriminating facts are revealed all the speculation and accusations going around are no more than prurient gossip that has great potential to bring discredit and shame upon those spreading it.
When a conservative says, "Any way" it can be assumed she/he means "Any legitimate way"… because we are not like them.
