Union Official, Professor Teach How-to College Course in Violent Union Tactics
by PubliusIf you are wondering why some folks are starting to question whether a college education is worth the cost, the video below goes a long way towards explaining it. Recently, the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) sponsored two college courses: Introduction to Labor Studies and Labor Politics and Society, to be taught simultaneously through a video conference between to two campuses.
The Professors are Judy Ancel, Director of Labor Studies at UMKC and Don Giljum, business manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers at Ameren UE in St. Louis. (Bonus: he is a member of the Communist Party.)
In the class, the Professors not only advocate the occasional need for violence and industrial sabotage, they outline specific tactics that can be used. As one of our colleagues pointed out, its the matter-of-factness of it all that is so disturbing.
And yes, the schools, and the professors’ salaries, are funded by taxpayers.

So we have state (taxpayer) funded college professors encouraging kids to violent tactics in the name of union strength. Why am I unsurprised that this is not a story gaining widespread media attention? Public sector unions and private sector unions are going to be the ruin of the country, all aided and abetted by the Union-Thug-in-Chief, Obama.

Contacted the Provost in Charge of Academic Studies at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, Dr Glen Cope. She was on the phone so the secretary took my message. I emailed her this video and told her we will be contacting their Alumnae to let them know your professors are advocating violence in defense of labor issues. I told her I hope their enrollment drops off considerably as this video makes the rounds. She tells me the Provost will call me back.

It relates directly back to obtaining funds for this evil. Taxpayers should NOT be paying for these type of classes, nor should public facilities be used.

The biggest myth about labor unions is that unions are for the workers. Unions are for unions, just as corporations are for corporations and politicians are for politicians.
Nothing shows the utter cynicism of the unions and the politicians who do their bidding like the so-called "Employee Free Choice Act" that the Obama administration tried to push through Congress. Employees' free choice as to whether or not to join a union is precisely what that legislation would destroy.
Workers already have a free choice in secret-ballot elections conducted under existing laws. As more and more workers in the private sector have voted to reject having a union represent them, the unions' answer has been to take away secret-ballot elections.
Under the "Employee Free Choice Act," unions would not have to win in secret-ballot elections in order to represent the workers. Instead, union representatives could simply collect signatures from the workers until they had a majority.
Why do we have secret ballots in the first place, whether in elections for unions or elections for government officials? To prevent intimidation and allow people to vote how they want to, without fear of retaliation.
This is a crucial right that unions want to take away from workers. The actions of union mobs in Wisconsin, Ohio and elsewhere give us a free home demonstration of how little they respect the rights of those who disagree with them and how much they rely on harassment and threats to get what they want.
It takes world-class chutzpah to call circumventing secret ballots the "Employee Free Choice Act." To unions, workers are just the raw material used to create union power, just as iron ore is the raw material used by U.S. Steel and bauxite is the raw material used by the Aluminum Company of America.
The most fundamental fact about labor unions is that they do not create any wealth. They are one of a growing number of institutions which specialize in siphoning off wealth created by others, whether those others are businesses or the taxpayers.
There are limits to how long unions can siphon off money from businesses, without facing serious economic repercussions.
The most famous labor union leader, the legendary John L. Lewis, head of the United Mine Workers from 1920 to 1960, secured rising wages and job benefits for the coal miners, far beyond what they could have gotten out of a free market based on supply and demand.
But there is no free lunch.
An economist at the University of Chicago called John L. Lewis "the world's greatest oil salesman."
Two things stand out in this video. One is how profoundly childish all the comments and those who make them sound. The second is how chilling it is to hear these comments, knowing of the tens of millions of people who have died at the hands of people making them.

1. Right to work, and no forced union and/or "fair share" dues. Cut off the funding one source at a time.
2. Bust the public school teacher monopoly. Privatize the system along the same lines as Poland and Korea (what we call the voucher system). Both countries' kids show vastly superior acedemic performance, starting around the 4th grade level.
3. Curtail university funding to eliminate whole useless departments, think the "womyn's studies" and the various racially-oriented "studies" programs.

The federal deficit fell from 6% to 3.2% of the GDP under Reagan. Growth of federal spending fell from 4% under Carter to 2.5% under Reagan. And most importantly, the taxes on the top tax bracket fell from 70% to 28%. That is NOT a typo, kid. Your progs were robbing the country blind.
Clinton didn't save us from anything. Bush senior was such a lousy president the people swung prog again, and put a prog congress in. Then we believed "the man from Hope" who was going to fix it all. Then we had to vote Gingrich and co. in to save us from Clinton.

Reagan and Goldwater were opposed to all the civil rights legislation of the 1960s. Pretending that the pre-1964 GOP was the same as today's GOP is dishonest at best. Republican liberals and moderates are a thing of the past.
King believed that both capitalism and socialism were flawed. He advocated very clearly a path that took the better parts of both. If you doubt it, look up his speech to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. So tell me again, how does that square with Republican principles?

Communism is responsible for more death and destruction and any other ideology including Nazism. Stalin murdered 20 million Russians. Mao murdered 10's of millions of Chinese, some estimates put it at nearly 100 million. Pol Pot murdered 2 million people. These people don't care that the authors of their ideologies were hateful evil mass murderers. They just want power and they want to impose their will on everyone else. They are not willing to listen to reason.
