In the two previous blog installments “Part 1: Quid Pro Quo” and “Part 2: Get Out Jail Free Cards” the real-life scandal of government union boss Ron Saathoff is documented. “Part 1” exposes Saathoff’s abuse of his position and taxpayers to reap a special taxpayer-funded retirement increase...

Watch the media celebrate the events showing people caring about the environment and forgets to cover all the trash these people will leave behind. They won't make the comparisons with conservative groups that show up for rallies and don't leave messes behind.

is it B.Y.O.B. ?
The first `Earth Day ' made a big impression on me , we watched a film at school about `Global Cooling '
and at the end we all received 2 ecology stickers…Then our teacher gave a short speech of how Indians are crying along the roadways cause my Dad is chucking beer cans out the windows….
Cool – I'm in !
I have a bunch of used Anti – Freeze we can pour on the ground around the tire fire to
prevent it from spreading to the garbage dump…
Happy Hump A Tree Day….brain bleach will be our friend today.
never have I been more grateful we have no trees around the property.
We can use the empties as targets, dude!
Its the closest as I get to "being green" <snort>
Earth Day…If was a day that people actually celebrated, and respected our wonderful planet, I would join in the festivities…however, it's just another reason for the loony left, to try to shove their false agenda's on the rest of the population!
I have enormous respect for our planet and it's environment…I will say my thanks quietly, and I will NOT leave a huge mess for someone to clean up!!
Today in 1945: Pfc. William H. Thomas was in the point squad of a company attack in the Zambales Mountains on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. During the attack Pfc. Thomas had both legs blown off by an enemy satchel charge. He refused to be evacuated and continued to fire at the enemy until his weapon was disabled by an enemy bullet.
He died later that day and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor five months later, on September 24, 1945.
Now THAT is history worthy of study and commentary.
God Bless PFC Thomas. RIP!
But pray tell, exactly what is an "Editionq?" Something our men at arms brought home from Iraq?
"Earth First! (We'll strip mine the other planets later.)" — from a lapel button
And don't forget to police the brass afterwards……
Oh yeah, the original PSA Adcouncil TV commercial starring Iron Eyes Cody
Wonder if there's any video around of the proceedings at the first Earth Day, in which a car was buried, using a huge diesel smoking earth moving machine? Oh the sweet irony!
Always.
Mr Pix loves his new reloading bench ; )
right on, rckmom! my wife & i live pretty simple lives, NEVER litter, are not wasteful, etc. in short, our "carbon footprints" (insert eye roll here) are a tiny fraction of some self-absorbed Hollywood B-lister and we are sick & tired of being lectured by the self-appointed, self-anointed nannies of the left.
To an Atheist `Earth Day is like Christmas….
But the bigger question I have Is Environmentalism a modern type of religion for Atheists ?
…and why did they pick Lenin 's birthday ? ( Born April 22, 1870 ) exactly 100 years later …
at first i thought it was just a typo, but then it occurred to me that the author might be playing headline scrabble and slipped in a "Q" for an extra 10 pts…
I still think jugears arrived on our world in an escape pod from the planet Dipsh1t.

Here's the PSA , I think it was a very powerful ad for it's time…
I think we should burn a windmill in effigy to celebrate.
Not at my house. We are fasting to remember Someone who died a horrible, demeaning death. Someone who said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Thank God His request also pertains to the actions of the mixed-up children of today.
Absolutely.
Good morning everybody! I have a post up at my place which I'd like to share with you:
Take Your Earth Day and Shove It! http://zillablog.marezilla.com/2011/04/take-your-...
For the life of me I still do not know why there is a huge resistence to anything environmental here. You people do know that there is a large and mostly unspoken tradition of conservatives who are actually environmentalist right? Don't cede things like earth day to the fringe left, do your own thing in a way that is rational and makes sense. Otherwise, we'll end up with a BigEnvironment site since thats exactly the behavior that led to the need for a BigHoillywood and a BigJournalism.
This isn't the video , But I think it's the article your referring too…
http://articles.sfgate.com/2010-04-20/entertainme...
It's Good Friday, not "Earth Day".
I know that the Episcopal Church has decided to try and conflate the two by issuing a special letter comparing Christ's ressurrection with responsible environmental policy, but so what?
It's Good Friday. Christ died for us so that all who believe in Him may have everlasting life.
Many of us are Conservationists , we care for the land but use it for the benefit humanity ….
We support clean water , air and even some of the ecology programs , but the environmentalists go to far
with their mandates on the rest of us and they even support genocide….
What ever it was, it happened in 197o….
Thanks for the post ….
Thats great, then celebrate conservationism, which is just a rational environmentalism. I just get afraid because the second one side cedes a topic as being the other guys "thing", they own it. Thats when it get mishandled.
On earth day this year I will celebrate by using gasoline to light my barbeque, to cook a steak, and eats some beans, and make my small contribution to the green house gas emission output. This is how I will honor "mother earth"
Get out much AKM? The EPA is already telling farmers we will be fined for plowing our fields
while the wind is blowing… Ever been to the Texas Panhandle AKM? There's hardly a minute
in the day… 365 when the wind isn't blowing. And much the same pattern exists in most to the
nation's breadbasket. This is no damn joke. We will cease to produce food in the USA if these
wacky EPA ''rules'' are enforced.
Go to farmfutures.com to read the latest of many horror stories. We're fighting, but getting no public
support in this effort. If you eat, you're involved in agriculture. Remember the demise of the entire Central Valley of California as a veg and fruit producing mecca? It is no more… Will you be comfortable having all our food producing industry move to foreign lands?
It's happening NOW!
Happy Trails!
; )
Their Christmas?
Wierd nobody has mentioned how this is also Good Friday. I wonder if they'll have a Messiah today as well?
thanks for the link. looks interesting.
remember: no farms, no food.
Amen. I was just checking to see if He was remembered on this thread. Now I can sleep soundly.
Don't forget, Obama is a guy who has a brother who still lives in a hut, as far as we know, and he has yet to send him anything, including a little sign that says, 'Hut, Sweet Hut'. …Rush Limbaugh
Sure hope it grows legs and explodes to impeachment!
We've had enough of the kid from Kenya.
Obama admits not being born in Hawaii.
Can one doubt his own admission? Where is Sixty Minutes?
Who would believe Obama is actually on this video admitting he was not born in Hawaii but was born in Kenya and is not even a citizen. Obviously he made these statements because he did not know at that time that a president must be a "natural born" citizen. OOOPS!
Circulate this before they yank it from the internet.
Will some one tell me why this guy is not being impeached??
If you just watch the first 30 seconds your mouth will drop open.
Obama admits he is not a citizen
Watch it before it is pulled! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwhKuunp8D8&fe....
His first speech is apparently just after his election to the US senate.
IIt'd be interesting tonight if my pastor says anything about "Earth Day" at our service tonight. My thought? It should be totally insignificant to the true reason for marking the day. And what are the pagens going to celebrate Sunday?
The Good Lord intended trees to,………..
grow big and strong and,……
produce as many 2 X 4's as possible.
Don't know who thumbs downed ya princess but,…..
if ever I find out,..I'm going to kick his A**.
Ahh! The good old days when the idiots were trying to scare us about an Ice Age, wow in forty one years we went from Global Cooling to Global Warming and history shows us that it takes over 100,000 years, I guess we beat Old Mother Nature at her own game.
Excellent
Im not putting myself in a position to defend the EPA. With reason. You're getting no media support because the left base heres an attack on the EPA and they can typify you as anti environmentalists. When thats entirely not true, but not being corrected. Theres just a failure to control the story.
The weed harvest was in .
Bet his birth certificate was printed on s**t paper
Not to worry. If we disturbed the earth too much it would just swallow us up, grind us into dust, and start all over like it was nothing more than hiccup.
Thanks. That is far more significant than "earth day."
As is the fact that it's Good Friday.
Great Post O.C.P.
One of the greatest Scams the environmentalists have tried to pull is to
STOP COWS FROM FLATULATING …
http://www.ethicurean.com/2009/01/22/cow-tax/
Obama's fraudulent, stolen social security #. My God, where is 60 Minutes on this??!! http://drkatesview.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/who-i...
April 22 1970 Earth Day was on a Wednesday not Friday
Do YOU eat AKM? LOL, YOU just proved one of my points with your own verbiage.
"You're getting no media support because the left base heres an attack on the EPA and
they can typify you as anti environmentalist."
YOU use the words You're and you, rather than We and we're… ; )
Again I ask, do you consume food? If so,YOU better join this fight. (not picking on you speci-
fically AKM, of course YOU is meant to address the general public as a whole) The mindset
on this issue had better change in a hurry, we have little time to react.
.
Don't stand too close or you'll make an ash of yourself.
lol dont worry, I have one of those fire proof suits, never barbeque without one,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Dig deep originalmike, find the story I reported a couple of weeks ago about the EPA fining
an AZ farmer for tracking dust onto a hi-way… It's in the archives of that site…
An absolute horror story is unfolding now, and no one is paying attention…
Thanks for your reply, you are correct… "no farms, no food"… or imported food with little care
or oversight as to the chemicals used in it's production.
Happy Trails!
; )
Wow. Next time you see far-left liberals demonstrating at ANY EVENT, be sure to remind them to clean up their mess before leaving. Seems the mouth works one way and the mind does another when it comes to the environment for lefties.
Skeet, target shooting, marshmallows and beer. All we are missing is a mud hole and some 4×4's !
Earth day's founder was a murdering piece of crap….
looking the other way…
Now it's almost the end of April and the temps are still in the 50s in MI. Maybe they were right?!? It's the Ice Age!
It is no accident that April 22, Earth Day, is also the birth date of Vladimir Lenin, an acolyte of Karl Marx, the lunatic who invented communism as an alternative to capitalism.
Earth Day is naked communism.
Donald needs to get on this! —
because the holiday was created by MARXISTS, capeesh?
"Then our teacher gave a short speech of how Indians are crying along the roadways cause my Dad is chucking beer cans out the windows…. "
They were only crying because the cans were empty. Teach left out that part.
I don't trust the Donald….
He needs to put up or shut up…..
Green is the new red….
To celebrate, I'm going to have for dinner tonight some "…snail darter stew and roast spotted owl." — Mark Russell (RIP)
well, at least he's going directly at Obama, and his main objective is to get him out of office.Yeah! From his lips to God's ears!—
Commies are heavy on symbolism. They have no God, so their ideology is a religion.
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but the problems with environmentalism strike me as twofold:
1. It prioritizes this undefined thing — "the environment" — over all specifically human concerns, and in doing so implicitly or explicitly excludes Man from Nature.
2. It displays a quasi-religious, pagan attitude toward "the environment" that treats utilitarian questions (i.e., questions that grant some degree of importance to human undertakings) as inherently invalid, even blasphemous.
A number of other commentators here have already mentioned the cleavage between environmentalism and conservationism. That’s an important subject that deserves further exploration. However, I fear that even Teddy Roosevelt-style conservationism has its dangers, in that it exceeds its proper domain of applicability: the degree to which it can be treated as imperative while still respecting the overriding importance of human flourishing.
All in all, I must agree that the subject is a tough one for conservatives.
Lets raise our glasses to one of the founders of earth day, Ira Eincorn (the unicorn) who murdered his girlfriend and put her body in a trunk in his closet. A true lover of mankind and the earth.
No, no! Just braise the owl. Maybe in a light breadcrumb batter. Roasting it deprives it of all its juicy goodness. Apropos of which, perhaps readers would enjoy the following…
A man who’d been lost for weeks in the Oregon wilderness was found, surprisingly, by park rangers…just after he’d finished a dinner of Bald Eagle. As little as they liked to do it, they had to arrest him for destroying a member of an endangered species.
At his arraignment hearing, the judge, seeing that the man had literally been hainging on to his life by a thread, starving until by sheer chance he’d felled the eagle with a thrown rock, dismissed the charges in the interests of justice. As the fellow thanked him and prepared to leave the courtroom, the judge beckoned him to the bench and murmured a question: “Out of sheer curiosity, just what does Bald Eagle taste like?”
Our hero pondered for a moment, and replied, “Well, Your Honor, it’s pretty difficult to pin it down, but I’d say its flavor is somewhere between California Condor and Spotted Owl.”
(/rimshot)
We all need to sit in a circle at noon holding hands and sing:
Happy Earth day to you,
Happy Earth day to you,
Happy Earth day shut your lights off (or Happy Earth day dear Gaia)
Happy Earth day to you!
When we are done, the ozone layer will be restored, earths cooling warming cooling warmness (or whatever it is being called this particular hour of this particular day), will have ceased and the lion will lie down with the lamb.
Or not.
I don't give a rat's ass what he thinks…
and, so far, he's given us nothing we can take to the bank…
In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should
bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren't good for the
environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day."
The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. The former generation did
not care enough to save our environment."
He was right, that generation didn't have the green thing in its day.
Back then, they returned their milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles
to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and
sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So
they really were recycled.
But they didn't have the green thing back in that customer's day.
In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn't have an escalator
in every store and office building. They walked to the grocery store and
didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two
blocks.
But she was right. They didn't have the green thing in her day.
Back then, they washed the baby's diapers because they didn't have the
throw-away kind. They dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling
machine burning up 220 volts – wind and solar power really did dry the clothes.
Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always
brand-new clothing.
But that old lady is right; they didn't have the green thing back in her
day.
Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house – not a TV in every
room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief, not a screen
the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, they blended and stirred
by hand because they didn't have electric machines to do everything for you.
When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, they used a wadded
up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.
Back then, they didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the
lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power. They exercised by
working so they didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that
operate on electricity.
But she's right; they didn't have the green thing back then.
They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty instead of using a cup
or a plastic bottle every time they had a drink of water. They refilled
their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and they replaced the
razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just
because the blade got dull.
But they didn't have the green thing back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to
school or rode the school bus instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour
taxi service. They had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank
of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And they didn't need a
computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in
space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks
were just because they didn't have the green thing back then?
<DIV>our number one priority is to get this sicko out of office. everthing he touches goes to sh*t. He's an embarrassment and a shame to our country. Liberal is one thing, sick thuggery is quite another. I thank God for whoever wants to stand up and call him out. McCain didnt do it, he wants to play nice guy. Gag me. Did you know when the first earth day was celebrated? The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970, the centennial of the birth of Vladimir Lenin, Bolshevik godfather, architect of the communist totalitarian state. When I found this it really opens up ones eyes even more. The anniversary was a huge deal to the global communist movement and the USSR, where the man’s wretched entrance into this world was treated like the advent of Christ. Speaking of the number “100,” Lenin’s ideology killed over 100 million worldwide.
"Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light." George Washington
Nothing, so far….
Yes, that I can agree with…
and christmas used to be saturnalia. What did the christians do? They turned its meaning into something that actually has sensible meaning. I'm just suggesting that rather than run from the topic, change how its used.
It's been "Good Friday" a lot longer than it's been "Earth Day".
Do you have a link for the " Christmas used to be saturnalia " comment ?
If I remember right , that was the Roman festival held in honor of Saturn …
I hear it's B.Y.O.E.S.
Bring your own endangered species. I've got this West Indian Manatee chip dip I've been dying to show off.
Dad is chucking beer cans out the windows….
Now that brings back memories.
Agreed. It is the height of narcissism to believe we actually posses the power to affect the earth in the ways were told we are.
Remember the Indonesian tsunami a few years back? That was so powerful the planet actually wobbled on it's access slightly. And we humans believe we can do even more to it?
Please.
Yes it is Good Friday. Probably the third most Holy day on the Christian calendar. The day Jesus said "Father, into your hands I commence my soul."
And them comes Easter!
But the bigger question I have Is Environmentalism a modern type of religion for Atheists ?
Just my opinion, but I believe part of human nature is the desire to find order in the chaos of the world around us. Because chaos will always win in the end, i.e. earth quakes, tsunamis, cancer, sudden deaths, humans have a tendency to search for something bigger than themselves, larger, that makes sense of all the chaos, that controls it.
Many people, self included, turn to religion to help deal with, and figure this stuff out. Those that reject religion do not make that human trait go away, no matter how much they want it to. They still have that void in their life, even if they don't realize it.
Enter the collectivist to take advantage of that vulnerability. Be it snake oil, politics, or environmentalism, they still have that void and they need to find a way to fill it.
In Illinois, the sealed divorce records of then Senator Ryan were exposed and he was forced from office. Obama replaced him.
Obama's springboard to the presidency was the opening of someone else's sealed documents.
I like you're thinking!
What in Christ's message to us leads you to believe the are mutually exclusive?
Great post Ed !
But then again You always have great posts….
Thats a very interesting point of fact ……
While Jesus did die horribly, it was hardly unique, and some ways a lot easier than it could have been. Normal crucifixions left the convicted up on the crosses for weeks till they slowly died from suffocation, dehydration and starvation.
And this is just my opinion, I mean no disrespect what so ever, but I would hardly call it demeaning. He proved to his disciples, his followers, and countless billions around the world through out history, that not only did he hold true to his own teachings, but he was right.
When the angel stops Abraham from sacrificing Isaac on the mountain, God tells us human sacrifices are unacceptable. When Jesus dies on the cross, God tells us the truly noble sacrifice is the sacrifice of one's self for others.
And I wish a very happy Easter to you and your family!
Probably a TD Tree humper. I'll TU both of you for that!
Time to invoke the Freedom of Information Act for the Public Servent refered to as Barrak Hussein Obama. Any lawers that could tell me why that wouldn't work?
Glad to help. Over the years, I've picked up some things, I tend to remember them. Only later do they start to come together and make sense.
Before I could get married in the Catholic Church my future wife and I had to attend counseling called Pre- Canna. Canna is where Jesus turned water into wine, his first public miracle, at a wedding.
Near the end of the session the Pastor came out and gave us his talk, and it hit me right between the eyes like a brick wall. He said most couples here are probably planning on having children. And it was our duty to make sure they learned religion. As parents, if we don't see to it, it won't happen.
And then he dropped the line, something will be missing in their lives, and they may not even realize it, but it will be missing. He was right. Since I started going back to Church years ago, I feel a part of me I hadn't felt in years. There is a certain peacefulness and serenity in commencing your soul into God's hands. I can deal with the pain, the suffering, the horrible aspects of life because I know I have the invitation to dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
That's what the majority of the left lacks. It's a vacuum, and nature abhors a vacuum.
Human sacrifice is not the same thing as giving up your life willingly to save those you love. I would do it. I"ll bet you would do the same, if you had to choose.
While crucifixions were common, Jesus was not a criminal. That was why Pilate washed his hands of it. Yet he was mocked, spit upon, slapped and struck while carrying a log through the streets over a recently scourged shoulder, while wearing a crown of thorns with blood dripping into His eyes.
Happy Easter to you, too. And Thank God we still have the right to worship.
In ancient times, the value of a sacrifice to any particular deity was measured by the value of the sacrifice to the individual performing the sacrifice. Hence, someone with two pieces of coin who scarified one by donating was giving away 50% of their wealth, worthy. Some one who only donated 10% wasn't considered as worthy.
The most prized possession a father has is his heirs, hence, human sacrifices were considered the ultimate sacrifice.
That's what I love best about Abraham and Isaac. God, basically saying "no, no, no." Because Abraham was willing to part with his greatest gift, Isaac, God accepted the willingness to sacrifice, but refused the actual sacrifice it self.
That lesson taught us what not to sacrifice. Jesus taught what to sacrifice. Ourselves in service to others.
Personally I've always been a little skeptical of the Pilate washing his hands part. I accept it as Gospel, but the historian in me has some doubts. First off it's his wife who has the dream about Jesus, not Pilate.
Secondly, remember when the Gospels were first translated to Greek. About 20 years or so after Rome sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the second Temple. Jews were on the Roman's hit list, Christians weren't yet – but would shortly join them. Scholars have put forth the question, was that writing an attempt to put distance between the Christians and Jews, let the Romans off the hook, in a vain attempt to stay on Rome's good side?
As a Christian and a Catholic, I believe the Bible is the word of God, written by those who were guided by the Holy Spirit. As an amateur historian, it's a pretty good question.
Have I told you lately how much I adore you, Sir Ralph?
2 X 4's…awesome! : D
I appreciate that muchly, Sir Billy- your sense of humor always brightens my day : )
