Wisconsin Supreme Court Open Thread
by PubliusBig Labor has focused buckets of money and manpower on defeating WI Supreme Court Justice David Prosser. They certainly have the advantage. Stay tuned for updates throughout the night. Election results here.
Update: With almost half the vote in, Prosser is up by almost 30,000 votes. Did Big Labor miss?
Update II: Now, with 51% of the vote in, the race is now 50/50. Dems must have just dumped vote totals for their best precincts.
Update III: With around 80% of the vote in, the Union candidate is up almost 18k votes.
Update IV: With 85% of the vote counted, Big Labor’s candidate is up by almost 24k votes. Hopefully, in the future, the national grass roots organizations will stop rallying in DC and focus on these important state battles. Another day…
Update V: With 93% of the vote in, Prosser is up by around 500 votes. Imagine if the energy spent on a DC rally had been applied to Wisconsin. We’ll have an answer to this soon.
Update VI: With 97% of the vote in, Prosser is up almost 2,000 votes. No doubt, Big Labor will whine for a recount. But, it isn’t over yet.
Update VII: We are about to call this race for Prosser. Must suck to be a union boss if true. You risked a huge chunk of your members’ paycheck and came up short. They listen to you for what reason?
Update VII: So, Big Labor came up short on election day. Expect them to rally on absentee ballots. With the millions of dollars they have, you can expect some post-election adjustments.
Update VIII: We won, but now the lawyers come in.

Who knows though . Too damn close … allowing for Dem absentee cr@p.
Do big cities report first? I would think outside the cities, he's going to up his lead.
Do you think Prosser will remember what the unions did when he gets re elected ?
Yep, my concern that the the big corrupt union blocks still not in.

Let's pray, wish, hope, intellectually command the second half goes like the first half. This will be a tremendous smackdown of the union thuggery and will also chill the SUMI debacle almost instantly. Heck, it even being this close must have the lefties freaking out!
Madison and Milwaukee votes are in,now for the rest of Wisconsin, which usually vote conservative.
But Ash, the media says it ain't so!!! They done says the Union boss man be da man! We done need to toe the Union line.
Proudly gave our votes to Prosser. Can't wait for morning to see how this goes. Hoping and praying for the best.
The polls were SWARMING with people today. Go Prosser! Go to hell Kloppenburg!
I was wondering how that vote is counted but hadn't looked yet. Here in Illinois, "certain" parts of Cook County are always last to be counted for some straaange reason……..
If Madison and Milwaukee are in already, Prosser is in easily.
If it is a spanking, how much you wanna bet the recalls all of a sudden go quiet?

Swarming with people and it is this close?
That is a defeat for the unions thuggery itself. It shows that they misunderestimated how much they were pissing everybody off. Huge turnout is odd for off year elections!

Since Al Gore won the election in 2000, and John Kerry in 2004, I'm sure the left is confident Kloppenburg wins no matter what happens. I'm voting for you Prosser! (figuratively of course, I don't live in Wisconsin)

Scott Walker's anti-union bill converts 37 government workers into political appointees to be handpicked by Walker himself. So what can we expect form Walker's choices? Apparently not much, Walker handed over an $81,500 job overseeing state environmental regulations to the son of a wealthy campaign donor in what looks like a quid pro quo.
The son – who has previously been arrested twice for drunken driving and has dropped out of college – was somehow qualified for the position that manages dozens of commerce department workers. I guess over $120,000 in campaign contributions can make your resume look pretty impressive to Scott Walker.
So let's get this straight – a Wisconsin teacher with a Master's degree doesn't deserve to take home $50,000 a year – but the drunken son of a big campaign donor with no experience or qualification whatsoever deserves $80,000 a year. Republican government at its finest.

I had to wait in line at 1:00. Where I vote, it's unheard of to have to wait in line. Everyone there had the same dumbfounded reaction about the turnout. We all thought it was bigger than in Nov 06 & Nov 08. Don't have the final tally yet, but it wouldn't surpise me.
You're dead on about the defeat of the union thugs. I read the result more as a statement FOR common sense than a statement against the unions though.

This is disgusting. I wonder how many people from outside Wisconsin illegal voted.

The next time the legislators skip out, they should visit Michigan, because that's what the voters seem to want their state to be like.
What???????
The better question is, what precincts have reported and which ones have not.
And, how many of those college kids voted that are NOT WI citizens?
My thoughts:
Even if Prosser loses, this is NOT a referendum on Walker's bill. If only 100k or 200k voted for Prosser, that would be a referendum.

I would DEMAND that those who voted be VALIDATED as being LEGALLY allowed to vote in WI!
With the bullying the unions did to the local shop owners and the fraud with ACORN, I would demand it on that alone!
It just goes to show you how many STUPID people live in Wisconsin
Where was the "guy who delivered Wisconsin" in November? You know…….that Reince Priebus character?
I'm pulling for Joanne Kloppenburg (D)! Lets take down these Republicans, taking Koch money. Gee, I didn't know we had so many Koch dealers, in this country. So, far you are winning!
it all depends on what precincts are left. Are they primarily Republican leaning or Democrat. There are sitll 18% left……..and then it will depend on if the votes are actually valid.

Why do you support sovereign bankruptcy?
Why do you like paying MORE in benefits for upper class teachers who get more salary and vacation than you ever will while draining the state of all its funds and providing a crappy product in return?
Why do you support activist judges?
98% of Milwaukee county is in and I assume that a similar pecentage of Dane county is in. Lets up there's enough votes in the rest of the state to rally.

I think we should look at it like this: What did Scott Brown change in our country. NOTHING! So this vote should change nothing for Scott Walker!
Fat lady's warming up.
Really? Are you serious? Must be upset about the polls. I felt the same way when President George W Bush won. Could not believe there were that many stupid people in the United States
Typical Liberal its ok to take Union money, Soros Money and More but its not ok for the GOP to take KOCH Money. What a joke.
I cant believe how many stupid people think Collective Bargaining is a RIGHT, and also they are stupid because they pay Unions more then they make. I say tie to completely dismantle ALL Public Employee Unions. Fire em all, if they want to work they can be hired back NON Union. As for the election today, Someone needs to verify all Votes cast were by Voters who were LEGALLY registered to vote in Wisconsin
Bovine Excrement
The SEIU has been stuffing the ballot box for a month now. This was over before it started. The leeches out number the hosts. Time for the hosts to seek friendlier lands, likely across the border.
Remember that next time you need a police officer or a fireman to help you or even save your life
Yep I am serious. They need to check and make sure every vote cast was a LEGALLY Registered Wisconsin Voter
The voters in Wisconsin will get what they deserve. Sad, but true.
I just wondering how many precincts have more votes counted that they have registered voters in that precinct.
That sounds like a threat that if we do not support the Union the cops or fire wont help us? If that is the case they will be sued and help criminally liable if something happened. Their Contracts do not allow them to take sides
You mean like what the Koch brothers did? . Oh that's right the only got 600 people to show against the protesters
Well looks like it is time to quit the belly aching and give into the cheaters for this ev ening, Then tomorrow Give 24 hour notice and Revote on bill, and send the union thugs packing.

It very hard for rural areas to overtake the major cities ion any state. California is not all that liberal outside of LA or San Francisco, but those two take up 75 % of the vote.
"Update IV: With 85% of the vote counted, Big Labor’s candidate is up by almost 24k votes. Hopefully, in the future, the national grass roots organizations will stop rallying in DC and focus on these important state battles. Another day…"
?????????????
wow the lead by liberal dropped from 35,000 to 5,000 in just a matter of minutes. There's like 11% of the vote out. Milwaukee county is 99% in and I assume most of Dane is in. I assume that means Possner is going to carry the rest. Will it be by enough votes?

If I done the math right at 11% left there's still something from 80,000 to 177,000 votes left. Besides 30,000 votes were gained in just like five minutes or so!

The real irony here…
There are only two politicians in DC taking the debt with the seriousness it warrants. Rand Paul from KY and PAUL RYAN from WI. Now, the mind dead drones of the DNC Soros funded zombie patrol will vote to let the state get raped by public union thugs who still can't teach worth a damn. That leaves the state no option but to fire 5000+ teachers because these morons don't grasp how broke they are. How can a Paul Ryan come from a state where half the populace are knuckle dragging public union neanderthal supporters, thereby supporting state bankruptcy?
Gee, ya think it is going to come down to absentee?
I may be alone, but I don't think for a second that the electorate is this evenly divided. I suppose I could be wrong, but I just don't believe it – and that goes for a win either way. It is just toooooo convenient.
No, I don't support sovereign bankruptcy. The unions did not cause this so called, "budget issue". If collective bargaining did cause these budget issues, then please explain why in states that do not have a collective bargaining have just as bad or worse budget issues? Also, explain why most of these non-collective bargaining have/had Republican governors.
Now, to your next issue I think that sick and vacation time should be cashed in at the end of the year and not at the end of there career.
Well, I think everyone supports "activist judges" if you vote in a state that elects judges by voting. If you are a Republican you will vote for the the Republican ideal judge and if you are a Democrat you will vote for the Democrat ideal judge. I certainly don't think a Republican would vote for a Democratic judge or vice versa!
Thanks, for your comment. I like other points of view. If we all liked the same thing we wouldn't find anything new!!!
Well Said …
Why? Because your candidate lost the election
Heck Wisconsin alone has $62 BILLION in unfunded Pension plans in one sector ALONE……..
http://specfriggintacular.wordpress.com/2011/04/0...
I can believe it's this close. The tea party versus all the liberals sounds like a close fight. Everybody who cared came out and voted. 1.3 million in April. Hopefully with the swing that has gone to Posner he'll win and gain enough votes to overcome any absteen still not counted.
Walter Hanson

Well I may have been wrong but win or lose I suggest they give 24 hour notice Revote on the bill and make the supreme court Irrelevant , Stand upto these union Thugs
The RNC had better catch on quickly with this election that the degree of voter fraud from the left will be on a scale never seen except in the most recent NV election. Of those votes for the Jaberwock, a full 5-10% will be fraudulent.
Its called-
Illegal Immigration + freebies + Urban population centers voting as they are told + media bias + corruption = Voter Fraud.
I though that the unions were done !
Now they can hold the taxpayers by there feet and jingle them until all there money falls from their pockets…
No one to blame but themselves…
Here in Florida hoping you good folks in Wisconsin defeat Big Labor….they will rape your state and already have!!!!
This crap would never happen in Texas or Florida where I live! Anyone wonder why everyone is moving down south as evidenced by the 2010 census??? Because Democrats BANKRUPT governments….state local and national….I commend Paul Ryan….
