Drunk with Debt: St. Paddy’s Day Edition
by PubliusWhat do St. Patrick’s Day and government spending have in common? Well, until we had anything to say about it, not much. As our friend Seamus eagerly displays, years of overspending have left us drunk with debt. And just as drinking more is the last thing you should do when you’re inebriated, spending more is the last thing we should be doing when we’re deep in debt.

It is not drunk with debt, it is hungover with debt. The spending was the drunkenness partying, the debt is the morning, well afternoon, afterward.
These people are so insanely addicted to spending other people's money (ours) they make Charlie Sheen almost look rational. It is to the point where all you can do is sit back and watch the country swirl down the drain. Unbelievably stupid, greedy and power drunk politicians are going to destroy us – one dollar at a time. Today alone the debt jumped $72 billion while they quibble over a CR that cuts $6 billion. Now excuse me for a minute – I feel a Tourette's outbreak coming and I need to go find a Democrat so that I don't waste it.
They should show this on every college campus.
Spending for fiscal sanity
Drinking for sobriety
Screwing for virginity
Fighting for pacifism
the list goes on…
I'm absolutely shocked

Pontiac— Two former high-ranking members of the Oakland County Democratic Party are facing various election corruption charges in a bogus tea party scheme, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper and County Sheriff Michael Bouchard announced Wednesday.
Former Democratic Party Chairman Michael McGuinness and ex-operations director Jason Bauer, both of Waterford Township, were arraigned Wednesday before Oakland Circuit Judge James Alexander.
They face charges related to Independent Tea Party filings, false affidavits and forged documents that occurred between July 23 and July 26 last year.
Both stood mute to the charges and were released on $25,000 personal bond each, pending an April 13 hearing before Alexander.
The charges include felonies that carry up to 14 years in prison. Neither could be reached for comment.
Cooper and Bouchard announced the charges during a joint press conference conducted to discuss the findings of a one-person grand jury seated by Oakland Circuit Judge Edward Sosnick.
"The election process is sacred … this is not a partisan statement," Cooper said, noting her Democratic affiliation and that of Bouchard, a Republican. Bouchard said 23 questionable election filings across Michigan — eight of them in Oakland County — involved an effort to create the illusion of an Independent Tea Party and its candidates on November's ballot.
Democrats rigging elections?
Must not be true.
Oh and if I or you did this. We would be put in jail. Sometimes I wonder how long can the guys with the guns defend these politicians who are responsible for destroying their families and their country? Would you stand that post?
How many mortgages has the Soros/Obama machine taken out on America now?
We are way past that. We do have the resources to begin to turn this thing in the right direction. But we have one more election to go to get to that point.
Don't think of this as a "spending addiction." Think of it as a "spending trap." Think Bernie Madoff. Think Ponzi scheme.
The current fiscal situation for America is that if the government were to stop "moving" trillions of dollars through debt and spending, the entire house-of-cards that is the US dollar would simply crumble. Bernanke, obama, and Madoff all fully understand this dynamic. The federal government is a giant Ponzi scheme, nothing more.
The only way we will survive what the "progressives" in government have created will be to systematically dismantle the "progressive" apparatus. A process that will take at least two generations to complete.
RINOs are aiding and abetting the Democrats and should also be charged with Treason.
The house passed a 6 billion reduction, but during that time the new debt exceeded 71 billion. What is wrong with this picture. Phone, fax, E-mail your congressman and senators to let them know to get off their butts and pass some serious cuts or get the heck out of the kitchen.
We need to be thinking of cuts in the trillions since our deficit for 2011 is 1.5 trillion and 1.65 trillion for 2012. My question is why congress is not currently cutting all subsidies, grants, foreign aid, duplication of services, federal wages by 15%, cutting the size of agencies, and getting rid of unnecessary agencies and services not necessary for the functioning of government? Once that is done they can clean up the graft, waste, and corruption within all agencies to include the DOD, EPA, DOEnergy, DOEducation, NLRB, FCC, NMB, DOI, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, etc.
"Hair of the dog that bit you" as the old saying goes. Have a drink to cure your hangover? Bulletproof logic.
They are not spending like drunken sailors. Drunken sailors stop spending when they run out of money.
Cloward-Piven Ponzi scheme?!?
"If you put the federal government
in charge of the Sahara Desert ,
in five years there'd be a shortage of sand."
~ Milton Friedman
Well call it, "Hair of the dog", then, because it seems the answer to the hangover is more spending….
Prove there is a national debt. Seriously… where did the money go? If the gov spent $14 tril on something then someone somewhere has to have $14 tril in a bank account. Money just simply does not go POOF.
This is why every American should repudiate the debt. Demand an accounting. If I supposedly owe money then I want to see where every dime was spent. If the gov cannot prove the debt exists then I don't owe it.
Has anyone considered this is manufactured debt? That someone is merely SAYING this is debt to keep Americans perpetually paying. And what were our bonds purchased with? More debt from other countries?
There is a point here where there has to be something to show for $14 trillion. Even if we're buying cotton balls at $10k a pop the guy who sold the cotton balls has to have $10k in his bank account.
Where's the money? Give me an accounting or I will repudiate a debt that cannot be proven to exist.
