Paul got 30 percent, while Romney got 23 percent of the votes of those attending the conference in Washington. Others were grouped far behind. Paul is a hero to libertarians and has a fiercely loyal following. Paul also won last year.
The straw poll was co-sponsored by CPAC and The Washington Times.
A total of 3742 people, about a third of total CPAC attendees, voted in the poll, a 64% increase over last year .
Comprehensive results here.

Sure fire loser.
I don't think we have seen or met our 2012 front runner yet….
No retreads please
Only way he can win: stuff the ballot box.
I think this goes to show how out of touch CPAC is with conservatism
What? No Jimmy McMillan??? He's way better than Ron Paul.
I agree we haven't although there are some other interesting potential candidates. We definitely need someone who can compete on the issues, remain conservative, and still be able to out-do barry and his political machine.
we need to screen for Paul-bots! They are no longer allowed at CPAC.
Those &#%! Paulistas infiltrate just about every Republican or conservative event, even though their hero is neither.
Trump made that pronouncement at CPAC. Sure didn't go over well with the Paulettes in the audience. But it was kinda fun to watch.
Why no Allen West?? The more I hear and see from this gentleman, the more and more I feel confident about him and what he stands for.
Other than Ron Paul"s congress seat the only other thing he has ever won was
CPAC poll. I'm told the hall is packed with his fan club. No disrespect to Mr. Paul
intended but I must agree with Mr.Trump. Mr.Paul has no chance next year.
Ron Paul may or may not not be an anti Semite but his legions of leftist Nazi robots most certainly are.
If you vote for Ron Paul you're voting for "Jew ovens" in the near future, it's the only reason he has ANY support at all and it's the only reason leftist Nazis have latched onto his skirt tails…
Ron Paul may say "end USAID to ALL countries" allied or not but his supporters mean to eradicate the Israeli state, that is their ONLY motivation, period.
A vote for Ron Paul is a "dead" end, end of story.
Pit maverick Republican Congressman Ron Paul against President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 election match-up, and the race is – virtually dead even.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters finds Obama with 42% support and Paul with 41% of the vote. Eleven percent (11%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Remain conservative??? You fools just don't get it. Go ahead and keep sniffin' Palin's undies !!!!
BWHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
You azzeholes don't know a conservative from your azzehole!!
Missy….Please stop playing with yourself, it's obvious. Are you a Palin undie sniffer???
This means nothing except Paulians like to work hard to win this particular straw poll. Palin and Huckabee weren't there, and the polling ended before Daniels and Barbour spoke.
Big whoop.
You can't be a isolationist in this place and time!
Another troll ? You guys never learn. Keep sniffin' Obama's undies
Is David Duke's position on Ron Paul the same as before?
Ron Paul is an Isolationist. The world is too small. He wants the U.S. to bail on the world and hide in a cave. He really is as dangerous to the U.S. as Chairman O. Well said Missy.
A 2012 GOP candidate requires to be stronger than a 6% loser…Period!
Congratulations to Ron Paul on winning the CPAC presidential straw poll again. Of course, Ron’s wisdom is about far more important things than winning elections. I recall hearing him say in a interview something like: I don’t really run to get elected; I run to spread the ideas of liberty. And when asked by his supporters what they should do for the cause, he replies, “I don’t know what you should do. That’s what freedom is all about.” Greatest quotes ever from a politician.
Or their own undies!
Knuckles…You don't get it either. You're an azzehole like the rest. I didn't vote for Obama. That's the problem with you fools and the republican party. You come off like 14 year old tards and call everyone who doesn't agree with you a Obama supporter! That's why I get a kick out of you azzeholes!!!
This poll of course means nothing, because of how unrepresentative the voting sample is.
Ron Paul has zero chance to win a general election. I remember what happened to him in the 2008 primaries, and Obama would make that look like a walk in the park.
Still, nice to see Palin get only 3%. Too bad the average Republican voter is a lot stupider than the people at that conference.
Jackson…David Duke has nothing to do with this. Now go back lookin' at W's pics and ….you know get da lotion out….fool.
Looks like Inthiscorner is sniffin' missy's panties as well!!!
Go ahead invade and occupy the freakin' world azzehole!!!
Oh yes it does you FOOLISH AZZHOLE
Besides David Duke's endorsement, and money, why didn't Ron Paul return donated funds from Skinhead groups and the KKK? Come on azzhole, I'm sure you can do better with an answer than playing with yourself?
Are you joking?
talkradio….I agree the average republican voter is as stupid or in some cases stupider than the dems. But there's no way Obama could win a debate with Paul. Number 1….no tellaprompter Number 2 look what Obama has done to date!!!
Exactly mac. These azzeholes on this board don't have the intelligence to put that to work. Sad for the republicans. Just as many azzeholes as the dems!!
believe thats how its done-buy a bunch of tickets to CPAC & SRLC and stuff away. It's not that I don't like him, but that is how that get their numbers up.
- Donald Trump contributed $100,000.00 to Rahm Emanuel's Mayoral Campaign. That's suspicious. I don't trust…
- Mitt Romney instituted an ObamaCare type Socialist Health Care in Mass. and I could NEVER support him.
- Chris Christy is pro Amnesty, he hangs out with Obama at the white house. He refused to join the other states in fighting ObamaCare through legal action. I don't think he's the total pkg.Let him kick unions in NJ, but that's it.
- Jeb Bush would have to stop being pro Amnesty for me to even think about him.
- My pick is Michele Bachmann! She's everything we Tea Party people are! Jim DeMint is great too! Sarah too! Jason Chaffetz has always been one of my favorite people too!

"The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves."
George Washington
I look around at the most virulent anti Semites on the Bigs and they all have one thing in common…
Ron Paul, this is not a coincidence.
They have hitched their wagons to his campaign and they see an opportunity to destroy Israel so they dance lovingly to his tune because the enemy of their enemy is their friend.
Straight up.
I would probably vote for Ron Paul over Obama. But there is no way in heck that he could possibly win in a general election. Do you remember in 2008? He got laughed off the stage by Republicans. Do you think any *Democrats* will vote for him?
His views are extreme by mainstream tastes, and he has some unsavory past associations that he would get hit over the head with constantly.
But worst of all — he's honest. And the last thing Americans want is a politician who will tell them what they don't want to hear.
This country is too fargone for someone with Paul's beliefs to be elected. In a general matchup against Obama my guess you'd be looking at a repeat of 1996.
Jimbolini – I'll try to help you. Now please be honest :
Did you ever feel like you just have to "lash out" ? "Get mad" ? "Get even" ? Get back to me – this could be important.
The more I see about CPAC, the less I feel I'm missing by not having gone.
Yup, I don't see any difference between these clowns and obamanoids. To them politics is a red team vs. blue team sport. Little do they know that both of their teams are controlled….By the banking oligarchy/NWO.

I fully agree with you Missy. This letter sent, and posted to Ron Paul speaks volumes. He never gave a clear response, and from what I understand, never returned the money donated from these hate groups. When connections like his are not repudiated, then he's got to be an Anti-Semite:

An Open Letter to Rep. Ron Paul Posted by: Michael Medved at 6:30 PM
Dear Congressman Paul:
Your Presidential campaign has drawn the enthusiastic support of an
imposing collection of Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, Holocaust Deniers,
9/11 "Truthers" and other paranoid and discredited conspiracists.
Do you welcome- or repudiate – the support of such factions?
More specifically, your columns have been featured for several years in the
American Free Press – a publication of the nation’s leading Holocaust Denier
and anti-Semitic agitator, Willis Carto. His book club even recommends works that
glorify the Nazi SS, and glowingly describe the "comforts and amenities"
provided for inmates of Auschwitz.
Have your columns appeared in the American Free Press with your knowledge
and approval?
As a Presidential candidate, will you now disassociate yourself, clearly
and publicly, from the poisonous propaganda promoted in such publications?
As a guest on my syndicated radio show, you answered my questions directly
and fearlessly.
Will you now answer these pressing questions, and eliminate all
associations between your campaign and some of the most loathsome fringe groups in American society?
Along with my listeners (and many of your own supporters), I eagerly await
your response.
Respectfully, Michael Medved"
Ron Paul is the only candidate who has the ability to build a coalition between progressives and conservatives. There is no way any progressive would vote for Palin/Romney/Gingrich etc.
Have you listened to this interview with Ralph Nader and RP? Check it out.. .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYXVD7uBU2s

If the Tea Party troopers have all the essential energy and ammo for victory in grassroots politics, it appears that Ron Paul is their preferred leader for the 2012 campaign.
Great news!
Skeptics who think they're authentic "conservatives" should read his works (books, papers and speeches: 1974-2011); and then join the Revolution.
It's here; get prepared!
Foremost, be epistemologically self-conscious.
Or drift with the wind again toward guaranteed defeat because you don't know the real battle or the key players.
Ron Paul is a gifted leader for those who love liberty and will do the serious homework.
And then there's Alex Jones who makes "Special Ed" Schultz look like a friggin' savant math genius.
If you're listening to Alex Jones you're listening to Joseph Goebbels, the guy is a friggin' nut job and on the Chairman O / Media Murders payroll.
I am.
I suspect it was the large number of Paulites (Paulettes?) in attendance that skewed the results of their poll……
LOL! Despite the largely Jewish "opinion makers" in the media doing everything they can to destroy Ron Paul and put up some "diverse" candidates like West, Cain (they seem DETERMINED to promote a Black candidate, don't they? Almost desperate. Same ones that supported Steele to have a Black RNC head. How did that turn out?) Paul is still the best candidate.
You are correct. He's a RINO through and through. He will talk the talk, but hasn't walked the walk in all the years he's been in the House. He's fooled the people of Sugerland all these many years.
No, Tea Party people are patriots. Bachmann has a RELIGIOUS devotion to a FOREIGN country that has ATTACKED and betrayed us REPEATEDLY.
Did you even READ your own post before you hit Submit??
My 13 y/o step-daughter is more mature than you.
And you do? Grow up and speak English, or don't post.
Cut the crap, son. I'd argue with you if-
this is amusing. I've talked to the homeless insane. It's usually fun.
YOU HAVE NO F@CKING CLUE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. One of Jones' biggest criticisms is that he is not truthful when it comes to the control Zionists have on US foreign policy.
Jones – Israel-Bashers Are 'Scum' http://www.rense.com/general92/bash.htm
Alex Jones Take on Being called a Zionist. http://www.livevideo.com/video/ConspiracyCentral/...
Where do you come up with your demented ideas?
Is that ALL you can post???
He is not a gentleman and the use of that term for him cheapens it. Why do you use it? White guilt? He is a thug and he used the race card not to be prosecuted – he is akin to OJ Simpson.
Actually he only got 1% of the vote in the 2008 Primaries. 1%.
Yea….the Paulbots are "loud", but they aren't numerous.
While Ron Paul may have a lot of positives (& would be infinitely better than the current White House resident) I am sorry, Ron Paul simply does not fit the description of a True conservative
See: http://www.myopinions-carl.com/2008/12/conservati...
Whaddya guys got?
Pot and Jew hate are not much of a platform for a national candidate to cling to especially when the vast majority of his base is Norml, the Death with Dignity Campaign, the KKK, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Nation of Islam and Code Pinko.
Bachmann just voted in favor of reauthorizing the worst parts of the Patriot Act. She's nothing but another big government RepubliCON using a limited government constitutionist rhetoric. Don't be fooled.
When you Libs "like" a candidate – he's the WRONG one.
Romney 2nd. I would vote for obama before i would vote for Rommey, If you want Rommey care with the mandate that you buy or get fined vote for him, He's no different than a Progressive Dem ! I'm from ma. will vote for anyone else but him !
Missy, Alex Jones has been, and will always be a conspiracy theory opportunist. Among other things, he's made a living peddling his 9/11 nonsense. People that believe and follow Jones, must also worship the tooth fairy!
talkradio…When Paul came on the scene for the last election I had to find out why the republicans and fox news hated him. It didn't take long to find out that Paul was everything these azzeholes should have been doing all along!! Another reason they hate him is, he would never invade and occupy another country and the vast majority of these fools never served in the military as well. Kinda like Dick-less Cheney and W.
Yes I agree that this country, both parties are too far gone to elect Ron Paul. Just look at this crew!!!
Which is less meaningful and indicative?
A Nobel Prize.
A CPAC strawpoll.
I agree – a real conservative would be someone like Paul Craig Roberts or Buchanan – I would pick those two over Ron Paul ANY DAY!
911 nonsense…really
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHIj9wzbYGQ
Let me guess, you're a Glenn Beck guy?
Copy that. Hopefully candidates like Fred Thompsom the flem king [when asked a question he cough up some flem and then spit out buzz word and phrases] Rudy G who is as clueless as the flem king. BTW Ron Paul got more votes and raised more money than those 2 fools combined! The dems are waiting for the republicans to put up an another azzehole so Barry can walz in for another 4 years!!
I concur.
So you're saying he brutally stabbed his ex-wife and a friend?
The best man won.
I totally agree. I am also glad he was booted off the YAF advisory board today
CPAC does not represent the views of conservatism
Dave….If someone prefers Ron Paul WTF would you call them a LIB?? Are you that fu..ing stupid??
too close to call
My attitude toward terrorists is that they are among the worst human beings who have ever disgraced the human form. They are stateless warriors who don't live up to any warrior's code, seeing as how they will use women and children as human shields and will kill them indiscriminately.
They observe no norm of any known civilization; ergo they should not be granted any protection that a civilization offers to other human beings. This is the idea of the bargain: the fundamental concept of all law and all morality. It is a piece of lunacy and treachery never seen before in any human society to say such people deserve any protection whatsoever. Every other civilization that has ever existed simply killed these people on sight.
Ron Paul was born on August 20, 1935.
He'll be 77 years old at the time of the next Presidential election. That's 8 years older than Reagan was when he was inaugurated. If elected, Paul would be 81 at the end of his first term.
The average age of all Presidents at inauguration is about 55.
America is not about to elect someone who is 77. Sorry, that's just a fact of life.
Surely there is another conservative candidate who is 20-30 years younger.
I'm disappointed in that. Intrusive search and seizure should be ceased. I understand that after 9/11 we needed something to quell our panic, but now The Patriot Act has to go. I will research that to see what Bachmann was thinking mac_hine. What foreign country is the troll talking about?
This thread seems a bit heated right about now, because the trolls are here in force, and we're talking about the future President.
All I got to say is, the people are against Obama on just about every issue,
Leftists :
You're gonna lose ! You're gonna lose !
God Bless America.
Of course it doesn't.
When a progressive like Romney comes in 2nd, you know its not representative of conservatism.
YES REALLY…IMO, Alex Jones is pure bullsh*t and NONSENSE.
Again, like it or not, Alex Jones has been a notorious 9/11 CT freak. His web sites, Infowars, and Prison Planet reflect that. Ten years since 9/11, and zero, nada, zilch evidence to prove their case. Meanwhile, all CTers do, is to trash solid science, and good engineering. Yeah, 9/11 CTers are a pitiful lot!
And guess what, I like the Glenn Beck show, SO WHAT?
You're right knuckles. Way too much at stake and to see fools like you with your head up your asses. This bunch is as stupid as the dems! Obama is waiting for the next McCain/Palin ticket and as bad as Obama has made things he will easily get a second term. You fools have no balls and obviously no f..king brains!
Thanks, I watched the video. Interesting to see but not really a surprise if you think about it.
Libertarians really aren't like conservatives or liberals. There are elements of libertarianism that conservatives love and liberals hate; and elements that conservatives hate and liberals love. There's almost nothing we believe in that both sides like, though.
Napolitano just focused on the parts of Paul's platform that would appeal to progressives. Note, though, that nearly everything Paul said there would be roundly booed by typical conservatives, so how would he get the nomination?
Then in the general election, think about the other policies of Paul's and how *those* would fly with progressives. He's strongly pro-RKBA, he wants to gut the Dept of Education and HHS, he's pro-life, etc. etc. You really think any Nader fans would vote for him?
Not gonna happen, trust me. Mention Ron Paul to a typical group of progressives and you'll get back a combination of horrified expressions and blank stares.
Oh, for the love of Nurgle and Khorne! I do NOT want to see Mitt Romny as a potential candidate. And being placed 2nd will give him the idea of going for it. Ugh!
For me, I'd like to see DeMint throw his hat into the ring.
"Jones – Israel-Bashers Are 'Scum'"
What a effing ridiculous article. I wouldn't associate myself with it, but than again, I'm not you!!
Ron says he wakes up at 5 a.m., typically runs 4 miles every morning and then caps that off by biking 10 miles at night… almost every day! He is also an avid swimmer.
Consider; Charles de Gaulle was president of France at the age of 79. Some say he was the greatest modern leader in French history. Michelangelo began his monumental work as architect of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome at age 71. By age 89, the year of his death, he was still at it.
Age is not the problem. Getting the issues right and having the courage to take a stand is the problem. And Ron Paul has proven to be up to both.
Excellent article cstrohmeyer.
Point #6 well taken, as I too have seen similar!
Forgive him. He's got his head stuck between his legs, and hasn't bathed!
Ironic how so called conservatives thumb this down. Ironic and very telling.
This site is now the equal and opposite of MSNBC. Equally moronic, just on the right.
No love for Libertarians, the Constitution, or the Gold Standard? I hope you tards are preparing for the coming hell of hyperinflation that Dr Paul, Peter Schiff, and the rest of the Libertarian leaders have preached for months. The posters on this site laughed about it last March before commodities skyrocketed. Well, well, well, who was right then? Zombies all of you.
Who is a terrorist? What are you talking about? You have a rich fantasy about these people but it bears little resemblance to reality.
BTW, the founders of Israel WERE terrorists by your definition.
He's a Pual-o-phile, whaddya expect…
Chuck….Good luck but you're way over everyone's head here. Most think we should invade and occupy the world. They're as dumb as the democrats.
And the Paulbots have flooded this post. Hence the wacky comment grading.
Jesus, you are a freak. Get out of the house more. Or not. That could be bad for the public.
Palin got 3%! Hahahahahaha
Please don't pretend.
You're a bullsh!tter. You're a con artist.
You're an agitator. From the the left.
Paul is the only real conservative of the lot. In other word's he's a classical liberal. The rest of the bunch are neo-con statist whores.
