Pigford Witness Report: Applicant Claimed Discrimination by Nonexistent Chicago USDA Office, Was Paid Anyway

It’s been ten years and I’ve really dealt with Pigford. It was a hard time. Frankly, I don’t like to talk about it anymore.
There was a lot of fraud. People collected money who had never stepped in the door of a USDA office. They had to prove they had been discriminated against to get their money so to get around that fact they would say they were never given an application. That’s how they got around the fact that there was no evidence of them having visited the USDA.
The burden of proof in Pigford was basically on us, the USDA, to prove that we didn’t discriminate against someone. How do you prove a negative like that? It’s really impossible.
I was assigned to Washington for a while to process Pigford claims. We saw claims come in from affluent areas. There were claims from Palm Beach and Palm Springs, and they said they were black farmers. One applicant said they were discriminated against by the Department of Agriculture’s Chicago office. There is no USDA office in Chicago. They got paid anyway.
There was a lot of pressure from Washington, D.C. to approve claims they knew were fraudulent or false. All people basically had to do was fill out a form. In Washington, D.C. they didn’t want to to hear about anything other than getting claims processed. I personally witnessed cases where the person in charge, [name redacted], a deputy administrator for farm loans, told us to tweak applications to help them get through. If they were missing information or something, we were supposed to add it to help them be approved.
Some employees at USDA turned to the other side and saw a way to make money. In Pine Bluff Arkansas there was an employee that would recruit people and help them fill out the paperwork. They would take 50% of the Pigford money that someone would collect.
The purpose of Pigford was to garner the vote, to buy black votes. It’s dangerous because we are segmenting society, pitting blacks, Hispanics and others against each other, we are fragmenting society, chiseling society.

Lets simply cut government spending by 50% and there will be nothing for the crooks to steal.

We don't have the money and then my blood starts to boil thinking, the "userper" can spend $200 million a day going to India, millions going to Europe, hundreds of thousands on parties and personal perks, billions to foreign nations and unions……

If that is the case, we all need to file multiple claims, and pocket the money, since it is our tax dollars that will ultimately pay for this out of money yet to be created. Consequently, we will be repaying ourselves, for what was originally embezzled from us to start with. How is that for Government Logic?

I'm very interested to see if my Rep in the the House voted for PigFord… but cannot find a record of the vote anywhere. I emailed my Rep and and asked him how he voted… surprise, surprise he has not returned my email.

All the money earned by the American people belongs to the INDIVIDUAL who earned the money! It doesn't belong to the government to be dolled back out to the wage earner!

Here in Texas, a woman came into the country illegally. Then she joined a ring creating and selling fake ID's and insurance documents for other illegals. Today the judge ruled that the only punishment whe will receive is to be deported. She'll be back within a week, with her own fake documents. It's every bit as corrupt as Pigford.
If you want this insanity to change, you're going to have to hold the line when you vote. You will have to support candidates who the media label as "extremist", or "too hard-line". Right now we have too many politicians who are willing to ignore the laws of this country, to avoid being labeled.
Dismuke isn't even mentioned in this story. So you trust Breitbart to get things right, but you're just going to check on it just in case? Because there aren't that many people in Arkansas, so you all know each other? Head back to the Daily Kos and tell them we aren't buying.
You forget about the government employee overhead, for "handling" the claims. Do what you suggest, and they will just hire a bunch more claims processors. Then, after all the claims are paid, they will still be on the government payroll.

I find it very hard to believe that this idiot who has worked for the USDA for 20 years does not know that there is a USDA office in Chicago. True the office is actually located in Lombard, IL, which is a Chicago suburb, but there is still an office there. Nice try to intentionally miss the point. If you are filling out the document it's because you were there and if you were there you know there is no office in Chicago and you know what office you were in, while you are making your claim. No one from the area would mistake Lombard from Chicago, even a supposed black farmer that had to go to the office to be discriminated against in the first place. Don't be a goof…we see you.

I would not have known, seeing as how I can't afford to shop there myself, but happened to be volunteering there last Friday. One of the children misunderstood the meaning of "Black Friday" – an understandable mistake given the view.
