The best synopsis of the Pigford scandal I have ever read. Begs the question, what do we do about it and future Pigford-like lawsuits? I have a feeling it lies in the use of "class action" lawsuits. Where did this notion come from? To my way of thinking it just waters down legitimate claims by individuals.

Doesn't matter. Blacks now claim that they have an "institutional memory" of slavery that is somehow magically passed down through all black people whether they were actually descendants of slaves or not. Just like they all have a natural ability to speak ebonics whether they were brought up in the ghetto or by Harvard grads. That is, except when such institutional memory claims are being used to hold blacks back, in which case it is just RACIST!!!!! So if such claims are used to get the government (i.e., white people) to pay them gobs of money they don't deserve or institute special language programs in the schools, they are valid and good. If the same claims are being used to prevent them from doing something they want to do, they are bad. Give me a freaking break! And are you really surprised when the whole reparations movement "died" politically that they decided to use the liberal courts to achieve the same thing?
There should be laws about who may be included in a "class" – assuming they don't just do away with class-action suits. In this case I've read that to be included you had to either BE a black farmer who ACTUALLY owned a farm and ACTUALLY applied to the D of A for assistance and were denied, OR you had to be a black person who WANTED to be a farmer or WOULD have been a farmer except that you heard that the Dept. of Agriculture was not giving loans and grants to black farmers. So I could be a drug dealer in Atlanta and claim I WANTED to be a farmer but I didn't think I could get money out of the racist Dept. of Agriculture, and then I can file a claim. I originally read there were around 4,000 legitimate claimants, and now they have 84,000 people filing claims. What a scam.

We all know of the corruption, but I think we had no idea how deep it runs, know we know for sure. The new Congress must freeze these reparations and investigate Pigford fully, while also prosecuting everyone involved in fraud. Personally I would rather burn DC to the ground with all hands on deck, no fire hoses or life preservers allowed. As proving fraud and intent are difficult without political power and connections. Yep 10 year plan needs to happen in less then 5 years. Move to a warm rural region and focus on quality of life with liberty rather then earning above average. Social engineering force me to re-evaluate my priorities before I go stark raving MAD!! Put them all in jail without parole and start over.

The scam goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care…
…The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois. Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs. Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the "breadwinner" for the family.
This is how the ruling class spends our tax dollars.

Reading this just makes my blood boil! Census shows 33,000 actual farmers documented yet 94,000 claimed? At 50,000 per claimant at minimum that is 3 billion in fraud.
I note that the "reparations" justification showed in this report as well. Well, the theory behind "reparations" is that we must discard the judicial philosophy this country was founded on. If my grandfather committed a murder using "reparations" theory I could now be tried for that murder. In other words, me as a tax payer, paying out my hard earned money to pay for "crimes" I did not commit to a plaintiff that was not wronged by me is not justice.
To those farmers that were actually discriminated against I agree with their settlements. Further, I believe the discriminator (if still alive) should pay part of that as well since it was not their official job to discriminate.
