Obama, Pelosi Statements on House Passage of Pigford, Cobell Settlements

I am pleased that today, the House has joined the Senate in passing the Claims Settlement Act of 2010. This important legislation will fund the agreements reached in the Pigford II lawsuit, brought by African American farmers, and the Cobell lawsuit, brought by Native Americans over the management of Indian trust accounts and resources. I want to thank Attorney General Holder and Secretaries Salazar and Vilsack for all their work to reach this outcome, and I applaud Congress for acting in a bipartisan fashion to bring this painful chapter in our nation’s history to a close.
This bill also provides funding for settlements reached in four separate water rights suits brought by Native American tribes, and it represents a significant step forward in addressing the water needs of Indian Country. Yet, while today’s vote demonstrates important progress, we must remember that much work remains to be done. And my Administration will continue our efforts to resolve claims of past discrimination made by women and Hispanic farmers and others in a fair and timely manner.

Today vote in the House to pass legislation to provide funding to settle African American farmers’ and Native Americans’ lawsuits against the federal government brings a much-delayed end to serious cases of discrimination. Settlements were reached in both of these class action lawsuits, and now we have finally ensured the federal government will honor its commitments. By compensating black farmers and Native Americans for past failures of judgment by the United States Department of Agriculture and Department of the Interior, we close the door on an old injustice. And we are proud to have done so in a fiscally responsible way, not adding a dime to the deficit.
We recognize that there are other discrimination cases that remain to be resolved — including women, Hispanic and Native American farmers. It is my hope these cases will come to a similarly just conclusion.

In the 80's we had the"FARM CRISIS" brought on by the broken promises of Earl Butts, "If you raise it, we will sell it" Jimmy Carter-D, president embargoed our grain to Russia for invading Afganistan. I was 16 and watched good, hard working, intelligent men go broke harnessing their future to a promise. Where are their reparations. The dispare and anguish as family farms were bancrupted was everywhere. It still exsists today and will exsist tomorrow as one more promise is broken, that the blenders credit for ethanol will cease to exsist. Once again intelligent men have followed the primrose path and once again the government will destroy them. the volume of debt held by ariculture is staggering. If the ag sector goes under China will "own"us. The land is the last thing we have of real value and the piper must be paid!!

The first thing they would do is subdivide those forty acres into 160 quarter acre tracts. They would take 80 of them, and put four singlewide trailer houses on each one, for a total of 320 residences, with each one containing at least two unwed mothers, and a six illegitimate chil'rens. You'd have rug rats and curtain crawlers, running over the crumb crunchers, to the point that any self respecting cockroach would head for higher ground. The remaining twenty acres, would have junk cars and yard art sitting on ten acres, a five acre garbage dump, a four acre community organic garden that had never been plowed, let alone planted, and the mule would be standing on the remaining one acre, which ironically was planted with marijuana.
The mule, who by now is higher than a kite, has gotten used to not working, and feels he has a sense of entitlement. He wants his DC Gold, and won't leave the pot patch. The whole experiment on communal living has just gone down the shitter, because nobody had the foresight to put up any mailboxes, and the checks never came. Consequently, some do-gooder liberal social worker happened to drive by and see the whole wreck, and called social services.
County welfare showed up, with the Sheriffs Department and the local Po-leece-mens, and they had to call the SWAT team, who separated the Mothers and their chil'rens, as all the men ran out the back door. The mule just stood there, chompin' on his dope plants.
The moral of that particular story has been tried before. Plantation living doesn't work.

Off topic but tonight I fired my Senator Scott Brown. Today he supported S 510 expanding the FDA enabling fed food safety and as a result the price of food will climb while large firms increase their monopoly ponzi schemes. Brown has shown me a reckless lack of respect for his base, the Tea Party. While MA mid term election results were beyond disappointing for me and fellow conservatives here, fortunately the rest of the country sent a powerful message to DC. Unfortunately we did a poor job of communicating our message to Scott Brown apparently, what else could it be? In 2012 I pledged to Brown to double my financial and volunteer efforts for a viable challenger to Brown. One and Done!!!

Yep – Scott Brown has proven himself to be a liar and a turncoat and he should be returned to the private sector ASAP. I don't even know if I would wait till 2012 – get a recall movement going. And if they tell you that you cannot recall a senator – just tell them the 17th Amendment means they do not have protection from recall any longer. If they want to be elected by the people of their state, they can also be REMOVED by the people of their state.
I think the Pigford Settlement is great, that's 20,000+ fraudulent claimers we can stick in jail.
Now some of you folks are angry just because we've devised novel ways of paying reparations. Some of you are so antagonistic to the rights of blacks that you would deny a person in Obama's situation reparations just because his black ancestors did not live here during slavery and his having a white mama made him a mulatto, with the white half offsetting the black half entitlement.
You take this racist position because of your white ignorance. You just don't understand that living as a black man in America, Obama has suffered a lifetime of prejudice and as such is entitled to reparations. The problem is not if, but when, how, and how much.
I think Obama and all blacks including quadroons and octoroons (and even those with one-sixteenth black blood) should receive 100% reparations. Because if you can be identified as a black then you suffered as a black because folklore in the United States had you labeled and stereotyped you as stupid, belligerent and violent, and indolent. All of you folks complain, but would you want to become a black person in America in return for reparations? I don't think so.
And I don't think that it is fair to offset welfare against the reparations payments that a black person receives. You don't get welfare because you're black but because you are needy. If you don't get it because you're black then you shouldn't be deprived of compensation because you received what every other American is entitled to under those eligibility criteria. Also, reparations should be exempt from consideration as assets in determining welfare eligibility. Say if a single welfare mother with eight children each receive $100,000 in reparations, then the fact that she would have $900,000 reparations dollars should not disqualify her or her family from welfare, Food Stamps, MedicAid, Wic, housing subsides, or any other government program. If you disqualified people, then you would deprive them of the use of the reparations for other things.
You should rejoice that you can clear your conscience and see justice done for these people who were forcibly removed from Africa where the living was easy and brought away from the equatorial area to a temperate zone, where things are more complicated. I don't know about you racists, but I feel good that black people will be living at a good level.
