Exclusive: Michele Bachmann to Run for GOP Leadership
by PubliusWhile pundits sift through the ‘tea-leaves’ to learn the lessons of this midterm election, we hope that they realize this was a victory of the grass-roots, not the establishment GOP. Winning candidates were those who had the backing of the tea party and 9-12 organizations and ran aggressive campaigns. Establishment candidates running saccharine campaigns mostly lost.
If the GOP is to capitalize on its success, it needs to incorporate the energy and commitment to principle displayed by the grass roots activists. It needs to realize that the game has really changed and the politics of the past two decades are over. Big Government has now learned that Rep. Michele Bachmann, one of the first GOP office-holders to recognize the importance of the tea party uprising, will enter the race for GOP Conference Chair.
The number 4 position in House Leadership, the Conference Chair is well-positioned to inject grass-roots energy into the majority caucus. It is energy the DC GOP establishment desperately needs. Without it, last night’s historic win will be only a blip on the political landscape.
Rep. Bachmann is, in many ways, one of the leaders of the ‘tea party’ in Congress. Incoming GOP members would be well-served to have one of their own in leadership. God speed, Rep. Bachmann.

I wish she would run for speaker. She is one of the only members that actually stood up to liberals on BOTH sides of the aisle. She is the one that coordinated the tea party days at the capital. I supported her financially in her re-election bid (although I was unable to vote for her, me living in TX and all) and support her bid for leadership, especially since it is obvious that she is a born leader. Go Michele!

And he is a good man. But she not only brought Tea Party afficionadoes to the GOP but she won handily- and Pelosi spent a small fortune trying to first demonize, then defeat her. She is now a star. She doesn't have Palin's chops, quite frankly- but she is IN the party and has made herself a force.
She is now at least equal to Lady Sarah as far as the GOP goes.

I love Michele, but I think Boehner will be a fine speaker. He really doesn't seem to get much credit in the House for getting every last Republican to oppose the stimulus and healthcare. What more can the guy do? I've been critical on some of his rhetoric, but he governs the way we want him to govern. The guy gets it done.
Make the establishment repubs vote her down. Let's force them to show who is a milquetoast repub so we can vote them out in 2012 with the democrats.

I too am very proud of the outcome. I only hope the GOP can carry forth the change within their party to retain this power. If they slip back to liberalism and spending… they will be GONE. I DO wish there were more conservatives or Libertarians inthe winning column last night.

He did nothing to stop the runaway Progressive Bush Regime from 2000 to 2006. He may proclaim to not have taken any earmarks or port, but he, Pence and the others DID NOT HEAR US …We the People during those years either. The onslaught Immigration Reform (which we barely stopped), Prescription Drugs and No Child Left Behind that is now strangling the States. Go for It.

I tend to agree with you. She is a tough lady to have to put up with the constant attacks and misquotes from the press and the lack of any positive coverage. I had to laugh when I saw her being interviewed by a reporter last night. The reporter looked as if a car ran over her cat. And, the tingly leg comment to Mathews was classic .
Conservatives need to provide new members the ammunition they will need to stand firm on conservative principles of limited government and fight hard in Congress to achieve five key priorities:
Significantly cut government spending
Repeal Obamacare
Stop all tax increases
Defend our nation’s security and stop bowing to foreign dictators
Put elected officials back in charge by reining in abuses by executive branch agencies like the EPA and its job-killing cap-and-trade plan

I think Bachmann would be great in a leadership position. She is advocating a Constitutional Caucus within the house. I like Boehner, Pence and Ryan, but Bachmann is a star and needs to be out front articulating conservative ideas. What a wonderful night!!!! Now, Pelosi gets to sit in the back.

I've been leary about Boehner's courage to deal with conflict, but I think his performance leading up to this election has been admirable and grassroots. I think he's determined to push hard agains Obama's policies.
He knows we are watching him. Plus, he's got a huge new team of supporters, and the Majority!
I think he will do a good job for US this round. We've got a good team now who constantly refers to 'The American People' They're very aware of our position out here! I think as a team they feel accountable and will do a great job.
