Dems Gone Desperate: Schakowsky Caught Electioneering in a Polling Place

Jan Schakowsky ‘get out the vote’ rally in Chicago, got some attention for the interviewers questioning of Schakowsky on the constitutional basis for ObamaCare and the Democratic Socialists. Overlooked was a far more interesting, and very serious, segment of the video.
Monday was the first day of ‘early voting’ in Illinois. Between now and November 2nd, any Illinois voter can cast their ballot in certain designated polling place. The prohibition on electioneering, i.e. campaigning inside a polling place, still apply, even if the voting isn’t on election day.
At about the one minute mark, Schakowsky joins a group of people walking into an early voting precinct. She is asked if she is excited about voting that day:
Actually I’m gonna walk in with these folks but I’m gonna vote on Election Day
You can’t do that.
Only people voting, election officials or credentialed poll watchers can enter a voting precinct. We don’t know exactly what she did or said inside the polling place, since the cameraman, observing the law, stayed out of the polling place.
But, we don’t need to know. Her presence alone constitutes electioneering.

I'll be working as an election judge on the Chi. So. 'burbs on 11/2-and if our Lord and Savior was electioneering I would get Him thrown out of the polling place.

It all gets very convoluted in Chicagoland.
The Democratic Socialist are going to try to steal the election, and are probably going to be allowed to by the corrupt DOJ and Progressive/Socialist Secretary of State program. We cant let them get away with this. Time to use their own tactics against them, and demand transperency, get video of lawbreakers, make a scene, and call the cops. Don't let these Progressive/Socialist destroy our Republic.
Oh and as an aside. I think it is time to reclaim the political language. Instead of calling them Progressives (as in some sort of progress) I suggest that we start referring to them as Regressive (in they want to regress politically to an entitled aristorcracy, tribalism, and an autocratic government). Instead of Pro-Choice (as oppesed to Pro-life) we should refer to them as Pro-death. Instead of Redistribution of Wealth, call it Theft. The Race card users (and others who advocate for minority programs and dispensations) should be called Racist. Instead of constantly (and incorrectly) referring to America as a Democracy (which is the Roussain term for despotism of the Majority, and eventually leads to a demogaugic leader) call it what it really is, a REPUBLIC. I am sure I could go on, but I believe the basic point as been covered.

speaking of election day, i hear this year they are making all the election workers for the first time file tax forms for thier day or two of work, the thought is, then they can be claimed as new jobs to help out obama. looks like he is creating jobs everywhere, just like the report yesterday of claiming 50,000 green jobs installing wind mills, that were all installed prior to his obamanation. perhaps he will get all the politicians running for office to file tax forms, for a day of employment as election engineers (electioneering, isn't that the job of and election engineer?), then he can claim even more jobs created, who cares if it's legal, we already know what he thinks of the constitution.

SEATTLE — When Maria Gianni is knocking on voters' doors, she's not bashful about telling people she is in the country illegally. She knows it's a risk to advertise to strangers that she's here illegally — but one worth taking in what she sees as a crucial election.
The 42-year-old is one of dozens of volunteers — many of them illegal immigrants — canvassing neighborhoods in the Seattle area trying to get naturalized citizens to cast a ballot for candidates like Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, who is in a neck-to-neck race with Republican Dino Rossi.
Pramila Jayapal, head of OneAmerica Votes, says the campaign is about empowering immigrants who may not feel like they can contribute to a campaign because they can't vote.
"Immigrants really do matter," Jayapal said. "If we can't vote ourselves, we're gonna knock on doors, or get family members to vote."
So far the illegal immigrants going door-to-door aren't meeting opposition. Craig Keller, an organizer for Respect WA, a group pushing for stricter immigration law in the Washington, said he doesn't mind illegal immigrants volunteering for vote drives, he just wants to make sure mistakes on the voter rolls don't allow them to vote.

Univision and Telemundo — the nation's two largest Spanish-language networks — canceled the ad, which the Republican group Latinos for Reform had planned to eventually run in Nevada, Florida, California, Texas and Colorado through the Nov. 2 election.
Seattle is home to a wide array of immigrant communities, from Latinos to east Africans and Asians.
Congress declined this year to consider overhauling the country's immigration law, much to the chagrin of immigrant advocates who had expected Democrats to do so by now.
Still, OneAmerica Votes launched one of the largest get-out-the-vote campaigns in the state on behalf of Democratic candidates. The organization is an offshoot of OneAmerica, one of the state's largest and the most influential immigrant-rights advocacy group.
Through home visits, phone banks and mailings the organization is aiming to reach about 40,000 registered voters in the Seattle area in an attempt to help Democrats gain ground in key races. Volunteers include other types of people who can't vote, such as legal permanent residents.
About 150 volunteers rolled out in nine cities across Washington this past week, knocking on 3,000 doors.
In Bellevue, a city of nearly 123,000 east of Seattle, Gianni knocked on 25 doors and spoke to 15 people, she said.
One man, a naturalized citizen from the Philippines, said he knew what she was going through after she shared she was in the country illegally.
"There's always a risk," Gianni said in Spanish about her legal status. "But if there's a change, I would feel like I contributed, even in a small part, to a change we all need."
Gianni arrived in the United States on a visa 13 years ago looking for work and stayed. For a while her only son lived here, but has since moved back to Mexico.
"In order for there to be a "change to our broken immigration system," she said, "I believe one has to fight."
I hope her highness, the congresswoman, the queen-bee, Shiela Jackson-Lee doesn't show up on 11/2 while I'm the election judge – I need to think of polite ways to throw her out because I know it will be photographed and that's not allowed either. She's made the rounds in other elections but she has never come inside.

IIRC, that was the State of New York and not a federal requirement. I know that election judges in IL are not being asked to complete W-4 forms or provide their SSNs to the counties that employ them.
We can hope, or make happen? That her opponent's campaign is on top of this and using it. My question is if the poll workers kicked her out as they are required to do.

Well, I'm often accused of being a troll, so I'll defend it (sort of). I looked at the Illinois election laws and I did not find anything that said it was illegal for non-voters, non-poll watchers, and non-election officials to enter a polling place, as claimed in the article. So, unless there is audio of her campaigning within 100 feet of the polling place or unless she was holding a political sign or wearing a campaign button or sticker, there is no proof that she did anything illegal. It was a pretty stupid move on her part though. It accomplished nothing and gave the appearance of impropriety.

Yes she was voting. But also, she broke the law by electioneering.
The laws vary by state, but basically, one cannot endorse or campaign or publicly support a candidate, or an issue, within about 100 feet of a polling place. This includes signs, buttons, T-shirts, etc. It also includes speaking about a particular candidate or issue, and indicating how one personally voted in regards to them. Candidates themselves can only be inside a polling place when casting their own votes, and are discouraged from talking to other voters, as it may be perceived to be electioneering.
The thing with MO is this:
Illinois state law — Sec. 17-29 (a), which states:
"No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place, within 100 feet of any polling place."
She engaged in political discussion inside the polling place, near the booths.
She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos.
“She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband’s agenda going,” Campbell said.
The taking of photos was not the problem, advocating and trying to advance her husband's agenda- while in the polling place- was the problem.
So, did the claim as put forward by witnesses, Dennis Campbell, the Chicago Sun-Times reporter at the scene, the Illinois State Board of Elections official, and Bagdad Bob Gibbs response to being questioned on the issue satisfy your definition of precedent Monsieur/Madam Canuck_Grit?

That is why there should not be early voting. In 2008, they had concerts for the naive college kids, afterwhich they registered and voted early for Barack Hussein Obama.Afterall, he threw a hell of a party with the concerts. The concerts were being sponsored by the Statists. The reason bars are closed on election day until after the polls close, so people cannot be BRIBED with a drink. These naive kids voted for Obama because they were influenced by a concert and they wanted to make a historic vote. Another tactic the Statists use, perfected by Dick Gephardt is the Statists go to retirement homes and help out the old folks with filling out their ballots. Who do you think they are going to be voting for? The biggest question I have about early voting and absentee voting is who is watching the ballots? The Statists will try to STEAL elections.
