Politico: New Polls Point to Electoral Tsunami
by PubliusEven Politico is sensing the coming wave. From the tireless Mike Allen:

With just two months to go before the November elections, pollsters and political scientists are predicting a blow-out loss for Democrats that could rival the Republican Revolution of 1994.
In a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, most-likely voters say — by a 9-point margin — that they want the midterms to produce a Congress controlled by Republicans, not Democrats.
“If that kind of lead holds, Republicans would almost certainly take back control of the House,” the Journal’s Gerald F. Seib writes.
A new ABC/Washington Post poll gives Republican congressional candidates a 53 percent to 40 percent advantage among “those most likely to vote.”
“Voters were also asked whether they think it is more important to have Democrats in charge of Congress to help support the president’s policies or to have Republicans in control to serve as a check on Obama’s agenda,” the Post’s Dan Balz and Jon Cohen write. “Here, 55 percent say they prefer Republicans, while 39 percent choose Democrats. The GOP’s 16-point edge is double what it was in July.”
Handicapper Stuart Rothenberg warned of a tsunami Monday.
“National and local polls continue to show further deterioration in Democratic prospects,” Rothenberg told his clients. “Given that, we are increasing our target of likely Republican gains from 28-33 seats to 37-42 seats, with the caveat that substantially larger GOP gains in the 45-55 seat range are quite possible.”

Let's ensure it happens!!! Get out and vote and drag you neighbors as long as they are conservatives…
Impeachment and grid lock is the only thing we can hope for. Still way to many RINOs and way to much power hungry corruption to change much of anything Lobbyist still own both parties.
They'll blame the losses on global warming.
Tsunamis come and go. Let's hope it is not the same with stupidity.
Liberalism IS a mental disease. The poser proves it.
Don't count those darn chickens before they hatch. Make 2 Nov a reality, not a dream. Too much is at stake. As tiredoffit2010 stated, drag 'em to the polls. For those less able, offer rides. Just be sure to take video cameras to capture any shenanigans by the bad guys.
Here in Arkansas, we're about to go from 3 Dem and 1 GOP representative to 3 GOP and 1 Dem representative. I've never seen anything like it in my life. My friends who are Dems are completely dumbfounded as to what is going on. Come November, the only Dem representative in the state will probably be Mike Ross, and that's only because he went hard against Obamacare and represents an overwhelmingly Democratic district that includes the Delta.
We need some Libertarians in there too. A strong GOP House/Congress is not necessarily a great thing. I do expect the GOP to lean more to the right than the past, however I also don't expect that to last long once they becaome comfortable in their positions again.
A strong 'right' Congress/House will lead us out oof the NObama mess.
"Lobbyist still own both parties."
Don't discount the TEA party influence. Not just in "gaining a majority," but in holding all office holders accountable. Starting in the next Congress, every decision these people make will be under the microscope. That should have a purifying effect even on the RINOs, many of whom will be running for reelection in just two short years.
The question is: if and when the Republicans control the House and/or the Senate, will they have the "cojones" to defund healthcare, investigate the justice department, call Obama on all the ways his administration is exceeding the constitutional powers given to the executive branch?
I was going to post a similar message, see that you got to it first. We need to watch this – things could go south. The Unions have a huge war chest of $$$$.
Called this months ago without the benefit of a sweaty palmed liberal press for help. We all knew it, after health care was rammed through and they wouldn't listen to the citizen's voices on the topic. Can you hear us now?
Eye on the prize.
Republicans must know that the Democrats are trying to fire up their base. I would not be shocked to find out the Democrats are paying for polls to show a complete Republican take-over.
"I also don't expect that to last long once they become comfortable in their positions again."
Our job will be to make sure they NEVER become "comfortable" in their positions again. With all the New Media watchdogs out there now, we will make sure they feel the fire at their feet.
Only 56 days to go. Only 56 days to go. It keeps me sane if I keep saying that….
Do not even THINK of being complacent! We have won nothing, NOTHING….
I think Rex Ryan would offer the GOP the following advice.
"You can be a world champion, but not like this. We won't win it! We'll sit back and say, 'Why didn't we do it?' We didn't do it because where were our f—— priorities? How about our offense? When are we going to put it together? When are we going to put it together? Can we not run the ball down their throats every snap? Can we not throw it any time we want to f—— throw it? Let's make sure we play like the f—— New York Jets! And not some f—— slapd— team. That's what I want to see tomorrow. Do we understand what the f— I want to see tomorrow? Let's go eat a god— snack." (HT: Peter King, SI.com)

Either they do, or it will be the END of the Republican Party, and the beginning of a new Dark Age in America with "progressive" liberals ruling a command and control system for generations to come.
"Democrats are trying to fire up their base"
Aint gonna work. What supporters they still have is all the support they're going to get. And every day that passes just peels away more and more voters.
Yup, but it still bothers me how many of them are not willing to embrace the Tea Party, I can't imagine small government coming out of the Senate–ever, the senate is one screwed up corrupt organization, very dysfunctional and corrupt, way to far removed from the will of the people.
Maybe but lets all be clear ALL INCUMBENTS MUST BE VOTED OUT regardless of party! We have only 2 more times at bat IMO to save this country before permanent irreversible damage is done. This Nov and the Presidential election in '12. New blood must be put into office and they must embrace the views of Americans, believe in the US Constitution especially the 2nd Amendment, smaller government, less social programs, fiscal responsibility, support TERM LIMIT AMENDMENT, repeal OBAMACARE, pay & benefit cuts for government officials(they work part time yet have better pay and benefits than most who work at a job for 30+yrs). This list could go on and most here get it but many do not!
Time is running out people, the party is over and these crashers do not want to leave. So we will have to show them the door, civil within the rule of law if need be through http://www.savingtherepublic.com
These democrats should feel lucky if the only thing that happens to them is an election loss. I'm thinking more along the lines of prison time.
Surfs up 2 November. Hang 435.
This election is just the beginning.
Que the theme from Hawaii Five O.
I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
I see a repeat of 1994 coming. VIVA LA TEA PARTY. It is about freedom, and nothing more. Less government, and not more.
Our next President needs to be for abolishing Unions, eliminating lobbyists, special interests and investigating every single member of the House and Senate for corruption, then prosecuting them. Then, maybe, just maybe we can have a functioning Country again.
Good point! I don't think it is too soon to start thinking through how increased Republican power in Congress can been properly encouraged. Push comes to shove, Congress has more power than the President…especially when the President is inexperienced and unpopular with the voters.
"…..Bad Boys, Bad Girls, what ya' gonna do, what ya' gonna do, when We The People come for you…?….."
They are still in denial of the absolute rebuking they are being given.
I have read that realistically, when broken down by each election, the GOP could get from 40-60 seats in the House (or more), and 10-13 seats in the Senate thereby taking back Congress completely. So long Speaker Pelosi, etc. Two years of gridlock which may let people forget how bad Obama is when left unchecked. Howeever, it should be enough to stop more nation killing legislation from getting passed.
Rothenberg is blatantly biased. If he says 55 is the max, bank on 60 to 70.
I agree with you, but realistically, it won't happen in the time frame you want. There will be massive turn over this election though, that's for sure.
Dems will use our OWN TAX MONEY, again, to try to buy the Nov election! Caveat emptor!
DEMAND that Eric Holder reverse his bad decision NOT to PURGE the fraudulant votes, that are STILL on the records across the U.S, from Obama's election!
Remember "Mickey Mouse?" It's not been PURGED because Holder is stopping the election committee's from PURGING. To me this is voter fraud by the Fed Govt. before the election even begins!
Keep the heat on and stay focused.
We cant' afford to pull a (Sorry Bill) Buckner.
And they can't cheat if it isn't close.
In the fall the Dims will scream and cuss
Their losses monumental; talking heads will discuss
The dims will cry and gnash their teeth
Fall on their sword fresh from its sheath
While Barry-Bop throws the others under the bus
Nice.
as Lou Piniella once famously said…
'Let's not get TOO giddy about this'. The polls ALSO show a distrust of the GOP. And rightfully so, as the plethora of RINO's and the establishment attacks on Ms Palin have led many to believe the Progressives have infiltrated the Republican party as well.
It has.
So, it is encumbent upon you to find TRUE conservative/libertarian candidates without East Coast Establishment ties (CFR, Trilateral, Bilderberg) who look at the Constitution as a sacred bond between The Creator, the Government- and us. Meaning 'inalienable' rights granted to us by Divine Providence. It can be a secular take-
Objectivism is ok fine, too- but the end result is the same.
We are in this together- and we must look out for one another…
Well, you don't change the beach with a single wave. It's going to take quite a few election cycles to make the change we're talking about. But it'll come. Remember, this is the first Conservative uprising since the internet age. There's now plenty of ways to keep this movement going.
EXACTLY!
Then slap TERM LIMITS on them so they serve ONLY The People!
I remember hearing last year, during the town hall meetings in which health care was the major topic of discussion, questions from the pundits about whether that level of intensity could be maintained until the election 'next year'….
I am glad to see that the intensity has not only maintained but has increased.
Serenity now. Insanity later.
This will be worse for democrats than what they write about here. There is more energy going against democrats than what we saw when Bill and Hillary were co-Presidents back in 94'. This will be interesting, to say the least.
Which they got from the American taxpayer.
Stimulus money – goes from us – to Washington – to a stimulus – to unions then directly – to Democratic election campaigns.
Modern day robbery.
Mandatory Trials, one by one for ALL! Anything less would leave criminals in Office! plus America deserves JUSTICE!
(and probably govt checks to each American for stealing OUR TAX MONEY and squandering it againt our televised protests!)
AGREED! If we push for your list and use your web site, we'll have a better chance at RESTORING AMERICA!
Ain't enough Acorn votes to cover the spread this time you stinking commie democrats!
I remember the commercial showing the football coach yelling at his team during halftime. Finally, one of them says, "But coach, we're ahead by 21 points". And the coach says (something like), "See what I mean — with an attitude like that, we're finished as a football team."
Patience isn't for me, I think they should be running on restoring the 17th amendment at the state legislature level…that is the level that the Tea Party can influence and election, these Senators don't need us.
Indeed!
Very true.
The latest I had heard was there were at least 9 "Dems posing as Tea Party candidates". One was linked to good ol Alan "monster head" Grayson.
I want constitutional conservatives, but don't want half the votes to go to the Republicans giving the Dems a win.
Gonna need an awfully big bus….
Great limerick.
Question:
Assume the GOP wins one or both houses of Congress. How does the right determine whether this is a mandate or whether it is just a rebuke of a too-far-left Congress?
Back in 1994, the conventional wisdom is that Newt et al misconstrued their victory as a mandate to pull the country to the right, the result of which was the gov't shutdown and the second term for Clinton.
Similarly, I dont' think there is any doubt that Obama misconstrued his victory as a mandate for a leap to the left, so his overreach is going to be corrected.
I guess since America is often referred to as a right of center country, the question is HOW FAR to the right, how does a new GOP congress walk the fine line between carrying out the mandate and overreaching?
Judging by the popularity of Rush (20 million+ listeners a week) and Beck (300,000+ in DC the other week) and Fox News, it is quite a bit to the right of the GOP establishment.
I personally would prefer quite a tilt to the right, to put into effects the common sense policies and philosophies espoused by Rush et al, but how will we know how far to go?
I hope that made sense….. :-/
Nice! We need to print that and get it out there.
We think we have the House, but not the Senate. Be aggressive. They are. Remember?
Agreed! I wonder why the Republicans have not announced a new "Contract with America"? That would go a long way to win Tea Party support for their candidates. Without it, I am sure many like me think the Republicans are headed to "business as usual" in D.C. I agree with JohnK, if the Rockafeller Republicans do the same ol' same ol', our nation is destine to be ruled by central planning liberals.
I am working on a document for all voters to use when encountering political candidates. Its pretty much a "promissory note" between the voters and the candidates. They sign it they get our vote. We only need one voter to be successful per candidate to get it signed, so many of you will have it but only one needs to get a candidate to commit, and then I will post it online. If candidates are serious about their platform they will sign it. If any are hesitant challenge offer their own material to suffice then they are a threat to the Republic. I will have the document done by the end of the month. As for the GOP's proposed "Contract with America" they can shove it!
Awesome – you might have started something there – kinda like the RushRooms of the 90's.
Just the fact that there ARE Dems that are paying attention to what is going on, is very encouraging. But, will they have the intestinal fortitude NOT to check the Democrat box at the polls…….or will they just not show up. Either way, works for me.
everyone needs to be well informed…
And, so far, you qualify. On a local level, people have to be involved and smoke out the fakes. A 'GOP' badge is no longer good enough…
stay pissed…stay mad as hell…don't take it anymore…if it's in throw it out…if it's a tax say no fuggin' way…
now just remember that the other side is scared…and most of you have heard of scared mamas liftin' cars off'n their babies and a cornered coon killin' a pack of dogs…ACORN by any uther name still cheats…the dumbasses get more votes than you do…you can on'y vote oncet….they vote twicet!!!!
'member….POLITICIANS ARE SCUM…they want your vote and money…that's all you're good for…don't vote party lines…use your mind and know who's what and what's right for you…and your family…
POLITICIANS ARE SCUM…yes yours too!!!!
DRIP…DON'T RETURN (RE-ELECT) INCUMBENT POLITICIANS…why not??? THEY are the reason WE are in the deep end of the cesspool…
NO ON TAXES…ALWAYS….huh? but it will help ___________!!! oh yeah? what happened to the last tax increase to help the_________________???
do not give a ride to a dumbass on votin' day, do not loan your jumper cables to a dumbass on votin' day…do not give a jump start to a dumbass on votin' day…
Looks like the Dems are finally seeing the writing on the wall. When Belshazzar saw it his number was up that night, the Dems have 2 months but it's still too late.
This is good news but don't start thinking — well, I don't have to go vote because everyone else has got me covered. No … No … No, GO AND VOTE !!!
Morallity as a whole has broken down in our society. I didn't notice it was shifting that way until about 1991. But prior to that I probably didn't pay that much attention as I was in my "roaring 20's".
I am too. Gonna tape Fox but Watch MSNBC live. I want to see how much frothing at the mouth, rug chewing, vein bulging and exploding heads there are on Nov.2.. Too bad Ed(I'm gonna burn MSNBC to the ground)Shultz wasn't assigned to the midterms. I sure we would have seen a world record spittlefest . Watching Oberdork,Madcow and Tingles will just have to do.
"abolishing"? They definitely need to have their legally-preferred status removed, but I think that any attempt to interfere with the free association of individuals would undercut a principled defense of individual liberty.
no one's complacent and rex ryan sucks.
hey BMARTY-76…you already have term limits!!! it's at the end of your FUGGIN' ARM…THE VOTIN' ARM…
if a scumsuckin' politician knows he only has x number of days to do the worst…….wellllll you figger it out…
sneak up on the sumbitch and beat his ass with the ballot bat….chicago style!!!
Good point, sorry LOL.
I like Tom "The Hammer" Delay's 2-year plan (paraphrasing):
1. If 'pubs take the House–defund ObamaCare.
2. Get Obama out of the WH and present the 'pub prez with a one-page bill–REPEAL OBAMACARE.
I'm volunteering to drive Nov. 2nd
We all must do what ever we can to make this happen
It's not a slam dunk and don't forget November 2012
We must keep up the pressure

I love it
Not racism?
Not Islamophobia?
Not sheer stupidity of the voting public?
Not Republican fear-mongering/
I'm betting on a combo of all of thee above.
Even if teabaggers win control of the House this year, 2012 will be an entirely different story. When turnout is high, Democrats win. It will be high again in 2012, and we will send the teabaggers back to their Klan homes!
"Conservative uprising" LOL!! If turnout were to be exactly the same as the 2008 election, teabaggers would not win.
You teabaggers always try to overturn election results. The American people voted for President Obama just like they voted for President Clinton. Your impeachment attempts will NOT overturn the elections that they WON!!!
Hahahahahaha
You're delusional. But of course, that's not news to anyone here.
How does it feel having that steamroller about to run over you? Scared???
Bwahahahahaha
Only 8 weeks to go. Just two months and the nightmare of a socialist regime in total power is over.
Robert Gibbs' predictions aside, what are the chances of the Democrats losing control of both the House and Senate?
I think the chances are better than 50-50. Look at these trends of Democrats that are trailing or who are trending down while the conservative (or in some cases, just the Republican) is trending up. The Republican opponents are in parenthesis.
They will certainly lose the House and some long-standing Democrats like Feingold (Ron Johnson), Boxer (Carly Fiorina), Reid (Sharron Angle), Murray (Dino Rossi) are in danger of defeat. All of them could very well go down. Furthermore, incumbent Democrat senators who are coming off of appointments or running for the first time are in for the fights of their lives and could very well lose. Among those are Bennett (Ken Buck), Giannoulias (Mark Kirk – not a conservative by any stretch but could take Obama's old seat), Machin (John Raese) for the KKK's senator's old seat, Blumenthal (Linda McMahon – I would have preferred Peter Schiff) for the crook Dodd's old seat, plus the taking of Biden's old seat by Christine O'Donnell (sorry but Mike Castle gives me visions of Arlen Specter).
I'll be honest. I'm worried the possible sweep has more to do with a dislike of who's in power than the Republicans in Congress seeing the light. They've said the right things, but only time will tell if they win back control.
I'll be voting and then going from one polling center to another, with a video camera and catching any busloads of people who go from poll to poll – should be a productive way to spend a day -
Couple things Galt – first off Issa has made it very clear that he is going to conduct investigations and has members on board with him – sorry I don't do the link thing or I would send you to source.
And secondly, there is a new improved 'contract', it's been all over, you should look for it!
Martin, the inherent flaw with your plan is that life presents far too many variable for ANYONE (that included you and me and anyone else) to signing a contract of promises. Sorry, much of what you say here and on your site I do agree with, but you lost me on this one.
As for the voting out all incumbents, that's apparently not going to happen at this time either – case in point, AZ giving Mclame another shot. It's exciting to think about wiping the slate clean and starting over, it's just not how life works and I'm guessing you are old enough to realize this fact of life.
In my humble opinion, the GOP has been put in a position that calls for keeping their mouths shut, the damn dems/commies/libs/marxists are hanging themselves, no need to help them.
The 'contract' is a direct result of people clamoring for an answer, what choice do they have at this point? Much of what is going to unfold depends on the elections as well as success in halting the onslaught of all things Anti-American, that will keep them rather busy for awhile don't you agree?
Oh hell no. They'll jump into his shoes and screw us just like the poser did, just in different ways.
I don't think the GOP (outside a select few) have learned a damn thing, except maybe what NOT to do and that is not good enough.
or Jaws…
Makes perfect sense Jim – I think the pendulum is going to continue to swing as people are so engaged now that anything short of an honest desire to reclaim some basic common sense, is going to backfire. Look at Christy and how people react to him – we are not going to beg off and let things take care of themselves as usual – there is too much at stake and with hill the pill looming with a run in 2012, we do have our work cut out for ourselves!
I say pound the living crap out of obamacare/stimulus billions of tax payer money/money to venezula for oil drilling/black panthers and AZ and how the administration handled them/along with every other anti-American choice made in the last 18 months, up to and including the ground zero mosque – and 2012 will be a victory for WE THE PEOPLE.
This November should be interesting. The government has stopped listening to the people and does not care what we think. Finally, we have an opportunity to show them who is boss. I do sincerely hope people take advantage of this opportunity.
alittle excited there butt?! lol
Saw that and I agree – along with what I wrote earlier – pound them on every damn thing done that took away the glory and power of America! There is enough to last a lifetime!
oh shut the hell up, don't you ever get tired of talking to yourself cupcake?
blah blah blah, must be lonely living in the world of make believe! don't worry sweetie, there will be a nice church to help you
To help you out, go look at the voting records – that is where the truth lays.
And yes, it is a strong disdain for what the powers that be are doing to our country, but seriously, we have to start somewhere don't we?!
I bet you can expect a repeat of 2008's Philadelphia incident with the Black Panthers, or some means of keeping conservatives from voting. I'm serious. Don't think they'll give up easily. They won't. Especially now that it's been shown that they will have immunity, as the Black Panthers apparently have. We need a plan for that one.
In my opinion, Michelle & Barack Hussein Obama are not the President and first lady of ALL of The people. They are only for certain people. That's pretty clear. They've been a disaster in every way; financially, Constitutionally, and a personal embarrassment to U.S.
Yer a moronic troll. For the last 100 years, it has been the socialist party (once known as Democrats) who have made an avocation of stealing elections. Were you so inclined (but as a troll, too stupid to try) you could do some research at say the NY Times and see what they said about the 2000 Presidential vote count in Fla. Or you could research the 400,000 voters removed from rolls in King County Wa, since the 2004 Gubernatorial.
Or better yet, you could just STFU.
Time For The GOP To Get Its Act Together: Propose A REAL Energy Program

Cheers
TarHeels77 sounds a little sad and defeated.
All those majority's awwwwww tooooo bad.
Obama needs to dictate that elections will be postponed for several weeks in order for all his recovery efforts to produce results. It's so unfair to arbitrarily pick some exact date to vote when the 'ebb & flow" of Obamagenda is still fermenting….
And the GOP would still be sitting there scratching their collective ass, with the clueless look on their collective face.
Lets's take their golden-parachute retirements, courtesy of the taxpayers!
I was reading yesterday, in October the Whitehouse plans to have 2 pollsters fixing the numbers to make the Democrats numbers look good….So look for it at Politico and the NYtimes.
Regarding the Trilateral Comission, write them at ; Trilateral Comission, 1156 Fifteenth street NW, Washington, DC, 20005. Ask them for an information packet. If you get a packet, pay close attention to what they recommend in regard to US policy. If they remain true to form, the US government usually adopts their policy recommendations within 6 months to a year. The Comission claims they have no influence on policy.
Dont get ahead of yourself there Tarboy. The public itself has become more invigorated lately, and are looking for a real change in both 2010 and 2012 back to the America we know. You are just getting a little overconfident as the Dems/Progressives/Liberals put themselves against the wall with their own policies. Its the 1920's all over again and the Progessives will loose it all again.
P.S. The KKK were under the Progressive Democrats, Byrd was one of them and not just one of them, but a head member of it and voted against the Civil Rights Act as well. So please, enough of your racist BS. If you wants the Klans men to go home, then get the Dems out of office.
God, you progressive are idiots. (couldnt resist)
"It is a terrible thing to contemplate how few politicians are hanged" – GK Chesterton
Make sure you also remind them that they WILL NOT REPLACE IT EITHER !! IF they replace it , they will create more government. WHICH MEANS YOUR TAXES GO UP TO PAY FOR FACILITIES, EMPLOYEES SALARIES, AND THEIR GOLDEN PARACHUTE RETIREMENTS !! Just say NO to replacement . NO, NO, NO, a thousand times NO !!
It won't be a tsunami….
It's going to be an asteroid.
