Chicago Mayor Daley Won’t Run for Re-election

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says he’s not running for re-election after decades in office.
Daley said Tuesday he’s been thinking about not running for several months and has become comfortable with his decision over the last several weeks. Daley says “it just feels right.” Daley says the time to move on “is now.”
The 68-year-old Democrat has been Chicago’s mayor since 1989.

Some one of his talents was being wasted at being just a mayor of a city. His talents surely can be used by the current administration by being appointed to some job that does not need to be reviewed by congress, lets say made a Czar.

The deal was most likely cut for a job in Obama's second term, but, that may be a lost cause now.

The City of Chicago and Cook County have been the subject of numerous investigations, trials, and convictions – and the Democrats who run the region keep filling in the empty positions.
When I moved here in the early 90s, I sat next to a prominent real estate developer on a plane from LAX to ORD. When I asked him about Chicago corruption, he launched into a 20 minute oratory about how it was perfectly OK and actually good for everyone involved. I think he actually believed it. A lot of people here do think corruption is just fine.
Family members ran a manufacturing business in Chicago for three generations. They were continually solicited for bribes from all aspects of local government – and they refused. It cost them dearly but they retained their integrity. Few businesses can stand up to the over corruption going on here.
