Joe Miller Set to Win Alaska Senate Primary
by Publius
Sources in Alaska have informed Big Government that the trend in the count of absentee ballots makes it virtually impossible that Sen. Murkowski will overtake Joe Miller in the GOP Senate Primary. A trusted and well-placed operative told BG:
It’s over.
Sources have also revealed that the Murkowski campaign is scheduling a conference call this afternoon (Alaska time) with her entire campaign team to discuss next steps. There is additional information we hope to be able to publicize soon. Stay tuned for updates.
UPDATE: Sen. Murkowski has tentatively set a press conference for 10pm EDT.

Congratulations, future Senator Miller. (A lot of people will work hard to give you that title).
Now, please bow out gracefully, Senator Murkowski.
*VICTORY DANCE*
BOOM! Taste my nightstick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM-mgBvCJmo
I hope this is true. I've been reading other reports that he's loosing.
Way to go Alaska! You rock. Murkowski has to now run as an independent since the Libertarians told her to take a hike. She will definitely pull a crist. If so, hope the repubs who donated to her campaign ask for their money back. Just have to wait now.
This is a great sign of things to come!!!
And Sarah's influence helped somewhat. TEA party rocks.
Way to go, Joe! It's Miller Time
This is good news only if Sen. Murkowski becomes a grown up and retires….
A 3rd Party bid by Murkowski could spell defeat for Joe Miller…
Yipper DOODLES!!!!
And of course, it's all Bush's fault.
We need the equivalent of the snoopy dancers …
Sure hope it's true.
Drifter, you may be right if too many people vote on name recognition alone.
Lisa voted with Dems 300 times. Pro-abortion. Says Obama care good when all her constituents said we don't want it.
The RINOs and the GOP establishment lose another one. To bad McCain did not get taken out also.
The people that voted for the Mr. Miller Should get all the credit..
If any of these nitwits on the left thinks for one second this new awareness of the fact that this is once again. or soon will be a government 'of the prople, for the people, and by the people' is going away soon, well they are just whistling past the grave yard…..
Here's hoping we continue to spawn more candidates like Joe Miller, you know, ones the progressives view as 'fringe'….
Congrats Joe!! Glad Acorn isn't counting the ballots!
Stole my thunder. Was just about to say that – fellow fan of old beer commercials.
The more true conservatives in government, the better our chances as a nation to survive. Congratulations. Please don't pull a Scott Brown.
Hey, No Bama, it looks like the cookies are starting to crumble.
Whoooo Hooooooooooo
the GOP needs to move right or go the way of the Whigs.
ACORN and their people cant count past 10, they run out of fingers.
Never bring Sour grapes to a TEA Party. Go Miller, win in November.
The TEA Party may not be 100% effective, but I know without it, we would be seeing the same ole cows get elected with the "R" after their name.
This will be interesting come November. I know I personally ran into a large number of democrats and former democrats (now independents) at the various TEA Party events I participated in this past year.
Awesome! Go Joe Miller!
Now the big question: Will Murkowski throw her support behind Miller for November, or will she demonstrate the integrity that comes with being a moderate Republican and flip to the Dem candidate instead?
Would someone please tell carrot top to stop doing impersonations of Al Gore?
I would doubt it. Murkowski voted the wrong way a few times and she's out on her keister. Brown doesn't face the same electorate as ol' carrot top, so his lying two-timing would give him the same fate. Brown's turncoat votes are welcomed by far too many dems.
The DNCC will send an army of K street clansmen and Madison Ave manipulators there tonight…
Their job number one is "destroy Joe Miller", the last thing they want is for another Sarah Palin backed candidate to win even though they are certain to lose at least one house….
The only thing worse in their minds than Joe Miller winning because of Sarah Palin's backing is ten or more black Republicans winning seats in the house and senate in multiple states.
This is their REAL election night worst case scenario political nightmare much more so than losing BOTH houses to Republicans or conservatives in general.
The reason that it is a nightmare to the DNCC is that they would no longer be able to claim the only blacks in congress are democrats and that is unacceptable to them, see also the Cedra Crenshaw case…
Their attention and funding will be so divided on so many races I wouldn't be one bit surprised if the only options left for them to "win" seats would be out and out character assassinations and manufactured media controversies to "parachute over the fence"…
Never underestimate your enemy's ability to change the game by adapting their strategies to undermine your own.
Hotair.com ran a good piece on this several days ago. The gist of it is: Because of Alaskan laws, Murkowski can't file at this point as an independent candidate–the deadline was some time ago–and the AK Libertarian Party recently rejected feelers being put out by her campaign to have her run on their ticket, should it come to that. (And good for them–you can't be both a fringe party and one that subverts its own principles.) Basically, the only real option for Murkowski at this point is to do a write-in campaign, and as the writer pointed out, it's one thing for voters to fill in the bubble next to a candidate's name, another for them to make the effort to write the name out.
If this story is true, the only thing I'm worried about is if the vote count is close enough that Murkowski takes it into the courts, or if she maintains a breach with Miller or even goes over to the Dems a la Scozzafaza.
Ok.. so, military folks serving overseas, which make up a good portion of absentee votes.. were going to take the time to send in their PRIMARY ballots .. in order to vote for the not-so-conservative lying hag? Publius, tell me you didn't see this one coming from a mile away!
"Too bad McCain did not get taken out also."
He would have if there was a "Joe Miller" running against him. JD wasn't strong enough.
God Bless the Tea Party Movement, and way to go Joe Miller…
"Glad Acorn isn't counting the ballots"
ACORN in Alaska? Ha. Now that's funny.
We are on our way to liberty. Thank you God.
I cringe every time I force myself to watch msnbc. However, after the elections in November I'm really looking forward to hearing them cry. It will be better then Christmas!!
I wonder will they still be blaming Bush?
Play the Rocky theme we are going to kick their f-ing ass!!!

Congrats Joe, don't let them pull an Al Franken on ya.
"will she demonstrate the integrity that comes with being a moderate Republican and flip to the Dem candidate instead?"
Should that develop as a pattern, then the Tea Party will allow the Republican Party to rot on the wayside as we hard charge to a 2012 VICTORY. That is the conundrum they face.
Pub, I have been listening and waiting and I haven't heard one word. They are only through half of the ballots, just for Anchorage. Are you sure your source is correct?
"Should Murkowski lose the GOP primary to Fairbanks attorney Joe Miller, running as a Libertarian or write-in would be her only options to win the general election."
Guess it would have to be a write-in now. Whether she will she purposefully try to spike Miller's chances in the general seems to be the only relevant question left regarding this RINO…
Welcome to the new Alaskan Independent Party HQ and our new candidate Lisa Murkowski – formerly of the GOP and now a newly-minted independent candidate for your votes. Yes, Ms. Murkowski is going to continue a tradition headlined by great minds like Ross Perot, Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist and Joe Lieberman. She won't get elected, but she will put some serious money in her britches and go home. Hey, you bought a bridge to nowhere, how about a candidate going nowhere?
Comon Ash, you know none of the msnbsers over there like Bush, except one…
Right on, Right on!!!!
Hey, works for me!
er, per AK rules, that deadline has passed — that's why the was trying to persuade the alp to take her on …
as i understand it, there will not be a murkowski on the ballot in nov. …
From what I've just been reading, from the absentee counting up through this afternoon, Miller has increased his lead slightly, to maybe 1,800 votes. But–and there is a but–that's not as conclusive as it sounds, because Murkowski got a significant boost, more than what was expected, in the Anchorage precincts, which were reported to be a stronghold for her. The precincts from around Fairbanks and Wasilla broke for Miller, but not by so large a margin, and actually less than what was predicted. The reason is simple: Miller surged late in the polls, and most of the absentee ballots came in early. Don't mean to discourage anyone; I still believe Miller can pull this out, and if Publius has info we don't know about, great; but we shouldn't be counting our chickens before they're hatched. Gotta stay realistic.
You must be referring to rachel maddow…lol
MSMed… Bowing out gracefully is the right thing to do. But forgive me if I want a fight.
Let Murkowski challenge… And let the BIG sites report. Follow the money. Elitist candidates and their backers will be held accountable and need to be called out. Only we have the nuggets to do it, and we need to do it now. Waiting to lean on the establishment Republicans until after the elections is a lost cause, Their attention span only comes into focus every 2-6 years.
Gratz to Miller… We are watching you closely FYI.
before the absentee counting started, Miller led by ~1.3%. All he has to do is stay above 0.5% [i.e. mebbe 650 votes] and he avoids a recount paid for by the state. anything over that and he's in a win-win — he's declared the winner OR lisa chooses to pay for a recount and everyone hates her [more] AND she still loses! If they truly counted ~40% of the ballots today and he lost ~400 votes — i.e. he's well less than 1/2 of what he could "safely" lose. he's gonna pull it out — and lisa can only make things worse for herself on the recount front — and the donks won't take her — not after this … …
I love the sound of a Rino biting the dust.
You are forgiven. I don't expect her to bow out gracefully.
Fuckin-A
Isn't this what you want to see RM? Teaparty conservatives pushing out RINO career-ocrats?
Isn't this the best possible outcome?
Have you seen this:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/142718/GOP-Unprecedent...
"PRINCETON, NJ — Republicans lead by 51% to 41% among registered voters in Gallup weekly tracking of 2010 congressional voting preferences. The 10-percentage-point lead is the GOP's largest so far this year and is its largest in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress."
That bears repeating;
"The 10-percentage-point lead is the GOP's largest so far this year and is its largest in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress."
Now as we agree, we must be sure the GOP supports individial liberty, the Constitution and the private sector, no small task.
But good news, says I.
Yeah, I like Tea Party conservatives, but I like them in the Tea Party and not the GOP. It's kind of like having a Snowe and Collins tell you GOP folks they are Republicans. If you want to be in the Tea Party, then be in it, but I understand that many Republicans disagree with me on this and that's cool. I'm a little hardcore and kooky.
I saw the Gallup poll and said things are going to be dicey. In 1994 the Pubs were up like 6% and took 51 seats or something. This is shaping up to be a huge blowout because the Democrats will not uncouple themselves from poor policies. Dogma is more important and this is the curse of socialism and communism that still holds sway over their counsels to this day.
Good news and then we have Crist in Fl – ah oh … (wow can't wait for the John kerry Flip Flop)
Florida Governor and candidate for the U.S. Senate Charlie Crist is directly linked to Imam Muhammad Musri

No Bama in his speech today said that it was time we turn the page. I would like to say…..
We will turn the page in November, then we will finish this chapter in 2012 !!!
As Glenn Beck said….you've won, the tide has turned.
This is an outstanding development.
Joe MIller is Joe Cool. This is my kind of candidate. He's got the entire package and he's a real person. He'll do an outstanding job. Congrats to the crew in Alaska.
Let Murkowski run as a write-in, and good luck with that, the Libertarians don't even want her.
.
Sarah Palin, Kingmaker.
Murokowski is another desperate female. How disgusting!!!
I didn't say things are all better now, just that this is good!
And it is.
Cheers bra!
She does have an impact. A woman who can't be turned into a whore no matter what.
Go Joe!! waiting to unleash the Snoopy Dance!
oh yes! I am a 'recovering' Dem and Tea Party Patriot!
Funny how these progressives change party affiliation faster and more often than their underwear.
after the Anchorage vote was done- it became a vote for vote affair. Expect him to win with 7-900 votes.
That is, unless some 'funny business' goes on. Murkowski is a Progressive like her dad was. Don't be fooled by the Republican label. And the GOP likes Progressives, too.
It's why the Tea Party is such a phenomenon…
Way to go Joe!
Joe Miller,….remember that candy bar you stole when your dad took you to the Fairbanks fair,…….
back in 1975 when ya was just a lad,……..well guess what,…..
the NYT has got all the details on that transgression and,……
the whole story is going to hit the streets in tomorrow's morning addition.
The big question is ,…..
when are you going to step down in order to minimize the damage to the party….????
One more RINO bagged and stuffed…….
*Cue the Charlie Brown music!*
Please, let’s not be too sanguine just yet:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/31/murkow...
And correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Al Franken pull off a come-from-behind victory in MN because of absentee ballots, questionable ballots, etc…? Pay special attention to the last paragraph on the 1st page:
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6580694&a...
Never, EVER, underestimate how corrupt the Democratic party has become.
I think photons is right. We can't rest. It ain't over 'til the fat liberal sings!
Step by Step Palin takes them OUT virtually unassisted as she builds her base of support for 2012.
Can you see the BIG PICTURE yet boyz and gurlz?;-D
How DAMNED long will you wait to get behind her FULL FORCE?
How do you suppose John Boehner will react to this?
Do you think he and Palin are working hand in hand?
Sooner or later we need to face facts.
WAKE TF UP!
.
.
From the Tea Party Express:
Several rounds of ballot counts have been done today in the critical nail-biter of a Senate race in Alaska. As of 4:07 PM Alaska time, Joe Miller still holds a 1,210 vote lead!
We here at the Tea Party Express have dispatched a team to the state to make sure the vote count is fair and prevent political operatives and lawyers with the political establishment from trying to steal the election or rig the counting of absentee ballots.
LMAO Ralph….you nailed it…….again!
There's a Samuel L. Jackson quote from Pulp Fiction that I think is appropriate here.
Anybody got that one?
That smarmy weasel Levi Johnson almost got'er' done, copper.
.
PLEASE, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Learn to use LOSE in the correct context. LOOSE means to RELEASE. LOSE means to NOT ACHIEVE VICTORY. We must be educated if we are to take this country back. Dyslexia, and typos notwithstanding, proof-read your posts before you click on "Submit" or edit them if you read it and it doesn't seem right.
This lackadaisical approach toward correct grammar isn't found in our founding fathers' writings, why should we let it creep into our own discussions?
If Sarah Palin was in the military, she'd make one helluva sniper.
Once she sets her sights on a target, it's a pretty clean through and through.
there is absolutely NOTHING gracious about Lisa Murkowski…
Just another Progressive in sheep's clothing (RINO, actually) just like her dad. They have a birthright to power.
She will most likely go quietly into the good night (with apologies to Eugene O'Neill)…
And Brown is still better than Kennedy. So it's still a step in the right direction
Sarah Palin sticks a big ole fork in another Murkowski. I love it. Wonder who's next?
I'd be happy with that. As Buckaroo9 says, as long as the difference between them stays above 0.5%, which would be about 650 votes, Miller avoids a recount, which would be corrosive for everyone except the Democrat. That said, you never know when somebody will "just happen to find" some extra Murkowski ballots in the trunk of their car–no doubt filled out in alphabetical order.
And if the GOP establishment hadn't done enough damage to itself over the past few years already, sending NRSC people to Alaska on Murkowski's behalf just opened the breach between them and the Tea Party a little wider.
It was a Snickers,……..
there good buddy
Cowboy I can hardly contain myself right now. I am so thrilled my innards are trembling……btw
never happened to me before in my life, not much gets me excited.
On the other hand I am infuriated that Sarah faces this ungodly battle so seemingly alone…..and I
wait…… I wait for the f—-n blue-haired, blue-blood Republicans to begin undermining her effort.
I've always been too busy trying to keep from loosing my ass on this damn farm to participate in big
time politics, and tonight I have horrible regrets on that issue. I should be in a better position to offer
Sarah my help.
I'm so damn angry with myself, I could damn near whup a badger.
.
She better toughen up a bunch more there onecornpone,…….
the onslaught is going to be ruthless.
Let it go, your being too, to, two picky.
"somewhat"
I think he actually had a net gain of a hundred or so today–the bump from the Fairbanks area wasn't as big as expected percentage-wise, but the actual number of ballots there was pretty high, so in absolute terms he had a gain. All that aside, I can't be as optimistic as you just yet. For one, if there's a recount, it'll spend vital energy in the courts when it should be used for beating the Dem. Even if Miller wins, it won't do much for his standing with non-primary voters. For another, never make too many predictions. If Miller gets an unequivocal victory, the worst-case scenario would be Murkowski revolting and publicly backing the Democrat, which might bring significant numbers of independents and even Republicans over. I saw somewhere that only 73% of the AK GOP are comfortable with Miller as a candidate, and while more than that will surely vote for him in November, and that number's still enough to make a victory probable, it's still cause for concern.
Don't mean to be pessimistic, I believe Miller will win in the end. I just won't breathe easier until the counting's done.
We'll cleanse the Republican Party in the primaries and then do the same for Congress in November. The Republican Party will become the Conservative Party through this process. Its apparatus is needed, but its operatives are not needed,
The name recognition is not a positive as it used to be. Sarah took down her Daddy and she (Murkowski) is indelibly linked to him.
The lengths these 'career politicians" will go, to become elected to "power" is simply astonishing. Not the humble servants of America.
Agreed Missy,
They are in complete "desperation" mode. This does not fit their image.
Desperation is all I can come up with right now. And ……….. it makes me smile. They will try illegal tactics, immoral tactics, demoralizing tactics, all will fail.
Things changed on 8/28. The internal collapse of the progressive movement will be something I truly will enjoy watching.
Made it to Gallup NM. Two more days to home……
Congratulations on your new-found perspective. Always glad to have more people interested in constitutional restoration.
Are you going to say that before God as well? Hmmmmm…..
Lighten-up Paul……..she's typin' with a Texas accent. :^)
Yeah, I'm waiting for somebody to "pull a Franken".
I wish it would happen here in Maine, the last time Collins and Snowe sold us out to Obama for a coat of paint on a damn Lighthouse. Diesel Dyke and Ugly have got to go.
If true, Peter Jennings must be rolling in his grave watching the voters throwing temper tantrums.
Go Joe Miller!!!
Great sign, but only the beginning.
What was it Trent Lott (former RINO, current lobbyist) said too paraphrase, “how are going to control these Tea Party candidates, that’s all we need are a bunch of Jim Dements running around here, nothing will get done.” Yes Trent that’s the idea.
Wish Murkowski would behave like Karen Handel in GA. When it looked like it would be tight and a fight could be had, she walked away so Deal could focus on beating the snot out of another political has been. Handel would have been an excellent candidate but there is more important work to be done.
I hope Palin runs in 2012, I think she would have a great chance to be elected.
It will be an interesting election cycle, I think Shrillerly will run against No Bama in the primaries. Thanks to Glenn Beck most people know what a progressive is, and what they stand for, and there is that great tape where Shrillery calls herself a progressive.
It will be a fun election cycle to say the least.
