Invade? This is the problem. Let people govern themselves. Invaders should be driven out.
The only peace is through strength. If the Czech had a massive military machine the Soviets wouldn't have the guts to cross their border. All their invasions in the Eastern Blocks were countries that couldn't beat them back. This is why they have never attacked the USA because they know we can hurt them real bad.
The Czechs, Poles, Ukranians, Georgians, all the former oppressed states of the former Soviet Union are NATURAL ALLIES of the United States. They generally want to be like US, the United States. These countries have suffered untold horrors at the still bloody hands of communism, we should cultivate these countries at a greater rate and scope than we are now.
Counter balancing a still agressive Russia is the best deterant. The Missle Sheild should be fully implemented. These are future ALLIES AGAINST Islamo-facism – lets get them solidly on our side.
Thanks to the Obama administration, most of our 'allies' have been pushed to the back burner….I can only hope and pray that they know, that the American people do NOT feel that way about them! Obama was elected #1-because of his skin color…#2-because of all the LIES he told about himself, he wanted the world to think that HE was their savior, and when he got elected, proceeded to apologize to the world for our STRENGTH!!!
Even now, while Europe is rejecting the 'socialists' doctrine…Obama pushes ahead like a plow, with no mule!! God help us!
We have lost our freedoms and they did not even need tanks to do it…

My childhood occurred during the aftermath of the 'War to end all War'. When our family went to
the movies (it's what families did before tv & Malls) there were 'Newsreels" that were run during
intermission, of all the aggressive actions the Soviets were making in their own backyard. Here in
the US we were still celebrating the 'peace' in the aftermath, but the Soviets continued rattling their
sabers.
My teen-hood occurred during the time of Kruschev and the height of threatening rhetoric of the Cold
War. We studied his speeches and their meaning, their actions and our governments reactions. For
those of us who were sufficiently serious to understand and contemplate our unique strategic 'impo-
rtance' in the overall scheme of all out war, it was a fearful time.
You see living where I have all my life on the TX Hi Plains, within one hundred miles of Pantex Nuc-
lear facility (where our nukes are assembled and disassembled and I believe stored) I and my
peers understood we were in the top ten first targets to be hit in an all out war with the Soviets. We
understood that missiles were not one hundred percent accurate, and that if we weren't hit by errant
missiles the 'nuclear fallout' from the destruction of the plant itself would probably kill us. At one time I
believe we even had numbers on how many Soviet missiles were pointed in our general direction.
The Bay of Pigs may be considered to have been a failure by Cuban's standards, since we failed in
ousting Castro, but it was an unbelievable success to me because after living my entire life in fear of the
Soviet Union, I realized they were cowards when they began pulling those missiles out of Cuba. I had
just begun to believe we might survive them, and then they began invading their neighbor countries, mak-
ing absolute fools of themselves on the world stage.
This morning I saw on Fox that Iran tested a missile they claim is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead,
I presume toward Israel. So another generation of my family can now begin to worry about mutually as-
sured destruction, but this time the opponent does not cherish life and vodka as did the Ruskies. This
opponent dreams of glory in the name of Allah and multiple s e x partners. Why don't we just set up some
really good whore houses in their vicinity? Either that or NUKE THE HELL out of them, post haste.

The problem was not military might, though clearly having your own military helps — some countries are just bound to have bigger populations and thus way bigger militaries than others. The problem is, alliances. The Czechs could not count on us to lift a finger in their aid. The briars of communism were growing rampant in the orchard of what would have been a free Europe.. because we let it. All I can say is, when the revolution comes, I hope to be as brave as the man in that picture, shouting down the barrel of a tank. I will not surrender my freedom to force, I would rather confront the goons, and die in the hope that others might be free.

When the Soviets and their installed puppet government in Czechoslovakia erected a monument in Prague to the Soviet "liberators" in the form of a Soviet tank on a large cement pedestal, Czech and Slovak resisters delighted in sneaking in at night and painting it pink.
This happened periodically to the extreme frustration of the commies.
Perhaps there are a couple of buildings in DC that should be painted pink, at least until November rolls around.

This is just another example of why our Constitution is so important. Having a picture of a brave Czech opposition member standing in front of a tank is one thing but the take-away lesson is that the Soviets knew it would take 5,000 tanks and roughly 1 soldier for every 10 unarmed citizens yearning to be free in order to subvert the freedom seekers. And this calculation came from a society that knew and had practiced suppressing the people for decades. Imagine the calculation if they had seen an armed and trained populace! I was 11 when the Prague Spring took place. Although I didn't follow the news at that age I mention this to point out that I was born and raised with the Cold War and it was an article of faith that a good part of the planet was under the boot of communism and that was just how it was.
During my lifetime I have been witness to the most amazing things: the tearing down of the Berlin wall literally overnight by East Germans (who remembers there once were two Germanies?) using hammers, pick-axes and even their bare hands, the domino-like fall of communist regimes across Eastern Europe (mostly non-violent but not always), the collapse and disintigration of the uber-fearsome Soviet Union, the rise of people power in the Phillipines, the voices of the people making themselves heard in Tien an Min square – all due to the actions of citizens in countries across the globe who refused to accept the oppression of tyrannical governments and resisted with everything they had. It has been an exhilarating and moving spectacle for a kid who grew up convinced that the power of evil men was unassailable and that good men had no choice but to "co-exist" with tyrants.

I'm immensely proud to be a citizen of the United States of America, a nation that has stood for and with the peoples of the world who have fought the good fight and accomplished all these great things in my lifetime. When I see photos such as the one above it brings a lump into my throat and inspires my love and admiration for mankind and its indestructible will to live free.

heard of damage in all directions. They could live high on the hog
corn fields. We find areas of crop that has been bedded on in our fields, but no digging
so every one thinks it's deer.
Deer were brought in and dumped out by the Fish and Wildlife Service, after the Fed
Gov't began the Conservation Reserve Program. CRP was designed to encourage
landowners to return their farmland to prairie grasses. Those dopes at F&WS just love
to toy with the ecosystem, introducing species that never were native, like the Delta
Smelt to areas because they CAN. It will be interesting when this aquifer in our area runs
dry and irrigation farming ceases, since there will be no source of drinking water available
to wildlife then. We have no springs, streams, swamps etc, only occasional stagnant
water in playa lakes that dries up quickly when we receive some of our grand total of 19
inches of annual rainfall. They introduced ring-neck pheasant in the 60's, and I can't tell
you how many vehicles we have damaged running into those damn things. They dig up
our corn seed just as the crop emerges and cause thousands of dollars in lost yields each
year.
