Democrats Gone Wild. Report: Rangel Cuts Deal and Avoids Trial

New York Congressman Charles Rangel has reportedly cut a deal to admit to ethical wrongdoing and avoid a potentially humiliating public trial.
Harlem friends of Rangel tell CBS 2 they have been told that the details could be unveiled when the House Ethics Committee meets Thursday afternoon.
“Sixty years ago I survived a Chinese attack in North Korea and as a result I wrote a book saying that I hadn’t had a bad day since,” Rangel said. “Today I have to reassess that statement.” In a sense, Thursday is Charlie Rangel’s war. He is battling to preserve his legacy of 40 years of congressional service in the face of ethics charges that, at the very least, will subject him to a humiliating process of having to admit ethical wrong doing.
Just what he will admit to and how he will do it remains to be seen. The punishment remains to be seen as well, but sources tell CBS 2 that at the end of the day, Rangel is not expected to be thrown out of Congress and that he is expected to run for reelection to a 21st term.
Earlier in the week, he told CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer that he feels his constituents will forgive him for anything that happens in the midst of the scandal.
“I’m confident that I’m going to win reelection,” he said.

I guess this is Nancy Pelosi's version of "Drain the Swamp"…. bury greed and corruption at the highest level and let him get away with it.

Juxtaposition how Rangel was elected in the first place. In the late sixties, Congress still had ethics and stripped Adam Clayton Powell of his position. Now they allow an immoral beached whale like Charlie Rangel to run for re-election. I'd lay odds they felt a trial would not only have been an embarrassment to him but many of his colleagues. The wholesale corruption makes it impossible to police themselves because everybody likely has something on the other.
So once again an elected official cuts a deal to keep from admitting his/her wrong doing. America when are we going to say enough is enough. These very people right the laws and then turn around and ignore them to suite their owns needs. What would happen to any of us if we would break the laws they passed? What would happen if we decided not to pay the taxes that the govt officials demand from every one that is working?
It is time take our country back and remove these very people that have lost their ethics, morals, values, and virtue. These people can no longer be aloud to represent this Great Nation of ours.

Thats why they are ethics- you can bargain or compromise ethics. Its either right or its wrong. If its right, then go on your way. If its wrong, then you pay the price. You don't get special treatment and cut deals because you're a 20 term congressman. If anything, you should be held to a higher standard.

Why am I not surprised? Good ole Rangel can always be counted on to tow the party line, and I have little doubt that he will be re-elected.
It seems to me that either the elections are fixed, or they draw the lines in such a way to have the most enslaved people who are the most afraid they won't get their government cheese if they don't re-elect this bastard.
Most of the people who willingly vote for someone like Rangel have to be so convinced they are unable to take care of themselves and they are afraid that if the Republican gets in they will lose their government checks and they can't make it without them.

How bout this, we ditch the Ds and Rs in favor of labels that matter. (P) for progressive, (M) for Marxist, and (C) for Constitutionalist. Combine that with REAL term limits. 12 years of federal government service period. Any combination of Representative, Senator, President or Vice President. If you're a 4 term congressman (8 years) then you're no longer eligible to be a Senator. If you're a one term Senator you can then be a 1 term President and a 1 term Congressman. (6+4+2)

Admitting that one has done something wrong ethically is a convenient generality and obfuscates the gravity of the wrongful acts. Having to detail specifically what one did wrong could be the humiliation referred to and would lend itself to much more scrutiny by the constituency. But then we wouldn’t want that now would we?
