It is impossible to overstate Churchill’s role in this, but it wasn’t enough to stave off electoral defeat. Voters can be silly sometimes.

When anyone says elections don't matter,well we have empirical evidence they do.53% of Americans had a collective brain fart in 2008.
And don't forget that 50.1% did the same exact thing on November 2nd 1976. And for that we got Jimmah Carter. You know, inflation, recession, energy crisis, hostages, billy beer.
the British soon learned the error of their ways and Winston was duly re-elected in Nov 1951 the next chance they got,perhaps we will learn by our past mistakes and toss out BO in '12

Didn't Obama further insult the British Commonwealth by send the bust of Churchill back to the U.K.?? Stating that the British government tortured and killed his grandfather…?? More lies?
That was practically his first official action as POTUS- "Get that damned thing out of here," were his exact words (or so it was reported at the time).

To underscore the "voters can be silly"… the immediately post-war british children had suffered deprivation and hardship but nothing like the present day American public schools. They just wanted an easier path AND they went socialist, ensuring the end of any significant British impact on the world for generations to come. I guess here we just tell the kids to skip over socialism and worship dear leader in the communist tradition.
Or proof of actually paying some taxes as opposed to none at all. The belief that democracies fall when those who pay nothing for its maintenance learn that they can vote themselves largess from those who do seems to be playing out in reality right now, eh?

This appears periodically when I post something. These interventions seem to have no rhyme or reason. They're inconsistent. I can post some comments full of expletives and they make it right into print. Others, like the one I just posted contain (if I recall correctly) no expletives.

I have the same thing happen from time to time. Weird, because certain seemingly harmless words get me censored right away, but other (expletives) do not. Think of a word that might have been part of another word, and you may figure this one out. One word that is hot-button is "g@y."

I watched my black neighbor run out the door at 8 am to go vote for the first black president. After that, she paid NO attention to the horrible bills this traitor was trying to shove through. I kept warning her about cap and trade and the national deficit. After five years of being friends and letting our kids play together — she now refuses to let her kids have anything to do with mine. That's not only "silly" on her part, but down right ignorant!!
I made sure that I didn't rip on Obama, but focused instead on the Constitution, but even then I wonder if she thinks I'm a racist?!

Now, I have at times made a post with link attached and next thing I know the entire comment disappeared. But never received a notice. Strange, indeed.

I normally would not give a remark like that a second thought but Sam was being so hostile during the entire discussion it kinda made me wonder what he meant.
Rush predicted about month ago that the economy will collapse sometime next year. I have been a ditto head since 1997 and I've NEVER heard Rush say something like this. The Bush tax cut's expire on January 1st 2011 and he did a rundown on how that would be the final nail in the coffin of the American economy. I could kick the Republicans for NOT making these tax cuts permanent.

I must object to the false advertising of republicans claiming to be conservative. They are progressive not conservative.
A conservative would never back a system that manipulates representation.
A conservative would never be involved with the polarizing forced collectivism of a nudged two party system.

Like him or not, Churchill was necessary during that period of history.

LONGGGGGGGG day at work….
Her husband is white so her kids are half white and half black. In their last neighborhood, their black neighbors called her son racial names because he IS half white. They would yell this stuff so others could here. Her in-laws were visiting for the first time and were subjected to this treatment. My neighbor went into labor a month early and delivered because she got SOO upset.
My husband and I welcome them to the neighborhood the day they were moving in.

Yes they did. And the statement "Voters can be silly sometimes" makes me think that we have indeed created a society of overprivileged children who are neither able to communicate nor to reason no matter what age they are.
It's aggravating as hell. I thought it was a good post. I just finished two books on Churchill and had what I thought were some relevant observations about this topic. So far, it hasn't shown up, and that was 14 hours ago. I guess it won't show now. I'm going to start composing these interventions in Word so I won't lose the efforts of many minutes of work to some arbitrary censor.
The posts that I got that message for didn't appear until the next day. I don't know exactly how long it was but, none of them appeared until a day later. There has been so much weird software stuff going on lately, I wonder if it has something to do with that. I never once had that problem until about a week ago. That's when I started typing mine in Textedit, then copy and paste.
Doin' alright but my youngest has developed an ear ache so off to the pediatrician we go! And here I thought I was on Vaca for the week. Don't my kids KNOW they can't get sick at this time? LOL
We are going to splurge and buy a Wii today. The kids are going to pay for half with their allowance/birthday money that's burning a hole in their pockets.
