In the two previous blog installments “Part 1: Quid Pro Quo” and “Part 2: Get Out Jail Free Cards” the real-life scandal of government union boss Ron Saathoff is documented. “Part 1” exposes Saathoff’s abuse of his position and taxpayers to reap a special taxpayer-funded retirement increase...

The guy invented (or perfected, depending on your point of view) calculus when he was in his early-mid twenties, almost completely from scratch as he pondered mathematics and extended geometry and algebra.
What an incredible mind!
What isn't well-known is that later he was placed in charge of Britain's currency and protected it's integrity with passion, going so far as to indict and ensure execution of counterfeiters and others who debased it.
We could use someone with his integrity running our economy now.
In a related story, less than 13% of high school seniors even knew who Newton was. Less than five percent could recite his three laws of motion. No one in Detroit could. When asked about Newton, Robert Gibbs retorted: "Doesn't that have something to do with a fig?" What the schools need is more money. /s
I am so glad I home school…
I am not sure who invented calculus, some say Blaise Pascal others Newton, both were brilliant mathematicians.I can assure it was not someone named Mohammed.
P.S.With all the talk about our founders doesn't Mr. Obama seem like a rather small man this weekend?
Ditto that David!
I wonder how long before O and his minions try to regulate Home Schooling right out of existence. Let them even try! They will have to go over my dead body to get to my kids.
FC,
Already in process. The UN "Rights of the Child" will in effect make all children wards of the state if not actually property of the state and will allow government to overrule parents about what is "best" for their kids. I has specific clauses about religious and educational issues and the "state's" views and interest in them.
If you are not a member of HSLDA, you should be. They pretty much are the ONLY Lawyers whom I respect. I am also a member of the "Parental Rights Amendment".
He is puny by comparison (except for the jug ears).
I forgot about the UN. I wish I could support HSLDA, but right now I can barely afford to pay attention! We lost our real estate business in 2008 so we got hit hard early on.
Man?………..You're too kind.
Reagan's law Of Motion:
“Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” – Ronald Reagan
I think that it's kinda cool that a German mathematician named Gottfried Leibniz also discovered calculus at about the same time as Newton even though they were working independently of each other.
Sir Isaac Newton, and his “three laws of motion,” is such a provincial subject when more important issues of, where do I get my EBT card? Where can I get my Sec. 8 voucher? Where can I get my WIC? Where do it get my SS disability check? Where do I get my Medicaid? Etc…
Newton was awesome, too bad his laws don't hold when you get really small (atomic) or really big (outerspace).
I hope one day someone comes up with the grand unification equation, and finally ties it together.
THE AGE OF REASON: Period of history from the mid 1600s to around 1800 that grew largely out of the scientific work of Isaac Newton. This was a time of a growing belief in the supreme goodness and power of reason as a means of realizing human potential, as well as a period of rapid growth in science. The Age of Reason provided the cultural milieu for …
JEFFERSON, THOMAS: 1743-1826. A major figure of the Age of Reason who championed the cause of the perfectibility of mankind through education and science. Jefferson was a Deist and the principle author of the Declaration of Independence. He became the third president of the U.S. and from here…..
THE ENLIGHTENMENT: Loosely refers to the latter half of the 18th century; the last part of the Age of Reason
The attitude of many Americans towards the cultural and historical basis of the modern world is testimony to the damage that Progressivism has done to this great country over the years. The extremes on the Left & the Right are a direct result of this damage and a proper education that has not been corrupted by cultural Marxists operating freely among us is the key to cleaning up much of the cultural/social quagmire we live in today.
Off topic: Reports that the NRA may throw support to Harry "dingy" Reid…..in MHO another misstep by the NRA…we don't need dingy reid back in office….Let the NRA know just how corrupt and anti-american reid is!!!
Just send $100 or more to Sharron Angle and bury this corrupt fossil Reid for good…
David
If every home school parent offered to home school another neighborhood kid for free, before long the current madrassas would be empty and the Country smarter…
No real chance to defeat the progs until we break the back of the current unionized school system that turns out "children of the trough" faster than we can counter it…
All we need to do too get our government back is to repeal the so called Patriot Act. We are witnessing everything the left claimed Bush would do, they themselves are doing right now. REPEAL THIS BILL FOR AMERICA, AND FREEDOM.
Restore the Republic

seeking out the truth, which is the only thing math can be,,…….
is really no big deal when it is done independently,…

"……..No one in Detroit could,……"

I already know who He is.
stay in there honey
sure does kinda dwarfs all these scientific laws, there StanH,……..
not to mention what they do to the laws of human nature.
SCIENCE,……….isn't that a subject,…..
taught in other parts of the world,…….
because we no longer need it here in our country,…..?????
As per Newton, you just wait at the bottom of the hill for it. Eventually, all shit flows downhill.
A product of pure reason and a testament to the power of the human mind. Ask yourself how much of your luxurious daily existence descended from such thinkers. It will amaze you. Math, science, logic, reason and philosophy are responsible for this immensely wonderful nation we share. Our decline can be gauged to our relative abandonment of each…
That's perfect! LOL!
What extremes on the Right have damaged America? Are you talking about us pesky pro-life Christians?
Ironically, Stan…I don't think they teach THAT in public school either (K-12)! I'm sure you can get all that info from the financial aid office at your local community college, but what are the odds you'll show up there if you can't even graduate high school?
I wouldn't be betting too heavily on the "supremacy of human reason" if I were you. It also gave us Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin, Che, Castro, Chavez, Idi Amin Dada, Kim Jung Ill, Ahmadinijhad and countless other monsters.
If you put your faith in Man, you will get exactly what you deserve eventually.
Indeed. We have entered the post American Age of Progressive Reason…commonly known as insanity.

Thanks to J. Christian Adams for speaking out on the dismissal of the voter-intimidation case.
Read the Declaration of Independence again; note the list of grievances against the king of England.
You mean,……you mean,….you mean to tell me that,………..
it wasn't FDR and the New Deal,……..??????
come on GaltFan,…..quit messing around.
'……Thanks to J. Christian Adams for speaking out on the dismissal of the voter-intimidation case……."
You win the prize there,……ReaderRedux
This Christian Adams story (Philly / Black Panthers ) is a biggy.
I can't wait to see what CBS, NBC and ABC have to say about Christian Adams,……..
they are going to have an expose on the very first diaper he soiled,…
hold on tight there Christian.
GREAT MOMENTS IN MATH HISTORY – Sarah Palin, on November 21, 1986, having been asked by her math teacher to find X on a right triangle marched confidently to the blackboard and circled X, replying, 'there it is'.
THE NRA JUST ENDORSED HARRY REID!!!!!!!!!!
somebody needs to start shooting somthing
richard … don't be a Dick
The RAW deal? Well, perhaps that had nothing to do with it…
HPD,
VERY interesting idea… Not sure we could win on legal grounds for kids who we were not parents of…
Very interesting idea…
BTW, that is the reason why the UN Rights of th Child is so important to Proglodytes and libtards. they wantto stop me from taching my values to my children…
Pretty evil…
David
The extremism of the Right is a reactionary response to the anti religious extremism of the Left
The men of which you speak are/were NOT men of reason.
