And now we have a president that wants to take away our military and replace it with a civilian army…does it seem to anyone else like we are going backward in history?? It feels like he wants his civilian army, instead of a military one so that he can invoke martial law, with his goon SEIU and ACORN thugs!!!
That is EXACTLY what he wants, I'm afraid. He already has a standing army of goons just waiting to be enlisted, what with the unions, the illegals, and every other malcontent out there. It's a vision that's all too real, and all we need is one or two successfull terrorist strikes to get the ball rolling toward Martial Law. Then, Dictator Barry will arise and America will indeed be fundamentally changed…but I promise you they're going to have their work cut out for them, considering the armed citizenry that still love the dream and idea that is America…
I’m taking advantage of the open thread today to offer an open apology to all of you that got dragged in to my runaway thread of the other day. I should never have allowed that to continue as long as I did. Below, you will find my final reply on that “debate”. While this is directed mainly at my new stalker, Macnvettes, it applies equally to all the other Christian hating atheists on this board. Let those with eyes, see; and ears, hear.
I understand your anger now. It is born of embarrassment and fear. Embarrassment from the knowledge that you don't really know what's going to happen to you when you die. Fear that if I am right, you will not just blink into nothingness but find yourself in an eternity of torment. Fear that, if that happens, you will have no one to blame but yourself because you were warned and chose not to listen.
Because of people like me, your last moments on this Earth will be filled with terror, pain and doubt (unless you are a complete fool, which I have not entirely ruled out). You can not possibly know for a fact that what you claim about a Divine Creator is true because it IS NOT TRUE. You can no more prove to yourself that He does not exist, than I can "prove" to you that he does exist…AND WE ALL KNOW IT!
It is empirically impossible to prove your claim…so it would seem that you are just as full of crap as you claim I am. You think about the wisdom of that as you take your final terrified breath on this Earth.
Yes, I understand full well your fear and resentment now. You are nothing more than a frightened child crying in the dark…furious that no one will rescue or comfort you. So, comfort yourself with delusions while you can. Your Day of Judgment comes. You have rejected redemption and will be found wanting.
I have no fear whatsoever of who is right. If it is you…I have lost nothing because life is meaningless. I am free to waste it any way I choose. If I am right, I've already been assured of my forgiveness because I chose to accept it.

It does seem that back in the day the founders had more sense than our current bunch of bottom feeding porkers. A weak military can neither protect the citizenry from aggression nor the borders from invasion.
BTW, it seems that incredible mineral deposits of copper, iron, gold, lithium, etc have located throughout Afghanistan. That should really heat up the taliban, Pakistain, and China. It's too bad the current Afghani govt is so corrupt. However, years will be needed to establish mining operations.

I would just like to point out that lacking for sanity here's original post was that he wanted to run this country based on biblical prophecy. That's right, he advocated for burning the constitution and turning us into a theocracy. Then I called him on it and he got his panties in a bunch, he even tried to rationalize his argument by saying "my rep score is higher, so I must be right". Now he is trying to send anyone who cares against me because he can't clean up his own mess. He is a statist, plain and simple, and his posts in the thread he mentions prove it!

Agreed- and as a Christian, my first line of attack (and all of ours should be) intense prayer that God will turn the hearts of people in this Nation around; particularly the leadership. Too often I forget that- the most important thing. God is in control, ultimately, and has shown how much He loves this country over and over again through the centuries. But if God forbid the ballot box fails, and all other options are lost, I hope enough people have the courage to stand and fight. As Reagan said so well, America is the last stand on earth for freedom…there is nowhere else to run to.

Those early soldiers of the Continental Army were truly MEN and we owe them a debt of gratitute for the amazing victory they managed under terrible conditions.
Clearly the hand of Divine Providence was upon those ragtag men who defeated the most powerful and successful army in the world (at that time).
Today's US Army soldiers are totally world class. They are the best trained, best equiped, and the best behaved Army since the beginning of time.

I have read that thread, it took awhile, but I read the debate. I believe that those who say "prove God exists" can't prove He don't. Obviously anyone who spends countless hours trying to rid God from this Country are fearful of Him to some extent, and know there is a higher power above them, otherwise they would not care for one second what Christians do. I look at it like this, I don't cram my religion down peoples throats like atheists claim, but for the love of pete they need to stop taking my freedom to worship God away from me. If they don't believe in God, that is their choice but they need to stop cramming their atheist views down my throat.

That argument aside though, what are your feelings about throwing out Article 6 of the constitution which states that no religious test shall be required for qualification to any public office or public trust? How about the 1st Amendment's constitution ban on establishment of a state religion? If we did as L4S was suggesting, which is to run this country based on prophecy (from any religious text), it would violate those 2 tenants of the constitution and change our nation as a whole.
Our Country was founded on religion, which was kept from the history books. The freedom of religion means we as people has the right to believe or not. However in this world today only the Christians are attacked. While my tax money goes for muslim basins so they can wash their feet. How much of my tax money goes to help churches? None!! Our founding fathers were very religious. And while atheists keep trying to take God out of our Country, that is already going against MY rights. I've known L4S since way back when Glenn Becks show first aired, and I think you misunderstood what he feels. I would rather let him speak for himself.
Also let me add that at this point an time nothing in the Constitution has been followed. It has been hacked up for decades. That's what we the people need to do, get back to the morals, values, and principles in order to get this Country straightened out. And YES that means including God!

I can still vote in God fearing Christian candidates. 52 of the 55 signers of the Constitution were Christians. I also think that moral relativism is what has caused our country to decline morally. We have moved away from the Absolutes of right and wrong found in Scripture.

There's actually lots more evidence that He does exist, than evidence that He doesn't. Evidence does not proof make, but it is a good indicator. For example, look at all the case histories of near death experiences that have reported encounters with Jesus or angels. Out of body experiences and miraculous occurrences can be equally hard to dismiss. I've heard it said that there is more evidence that Jesus Christ lived than that Julius Caesar ever existed.

So, you are saying that because the bible says the Jews are right, we should act on their behalf. That means you want US foreign policy dictated by a religious text. That is in direct violation of Article 6 of the constitution, which bans any religious test for service in a public office. It also goes against the 1st amendment's ban on formation of any official state religion, which is what would be established if we based our policy on religious prophecy.
Therefore, you advocate disregarding what our constitution says not only in the main text but also in the bill of rights and running our country based on a religious ideology (that's called a theocracy).
If you have a theocratic state (you know, like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Lebanon), that is a statist regime. End of story. When my husband's brother was dying, he heard angels singing. He wasn't taking any pain meds so he was not hallucinating. He just sighed peacefully and then he died and went to Heaven. He was only 23 years young but he is/was a Christian.
On the other hand, my Mom's cousins wife swallowed 2 packets of cocaine when she got pulled over by the police. During the night the packets ruptured in her stomach and she over dosed. She looked at her husband and fearfully said…"They are coming for me, help me!" She died but she wasn't a Christian. Her husband became a Christian in the hospital the next day. He was hospitalized because he collapsed a lung by giving her CPR too long. His parents also became a Christian that same day.

Amen, DMontgomery. The US Army and Washington held this country through the crucible, and at the moment when they could have turned this country into another revolutionary dictatorship/monarchy, erred on the side of liberty and safeguarded our newborn republic.
An amazing force with no equal in the world. I was seriously considering the Army while pondering what kind of service I'd prefer to join with. I met some NCOs doing a recruiting tour in my area, both of them veterans of Iraq. I finally decided on the Marine Corps, but I would've been proud to join with them.
And on a lighter note, I dig their new camo.

One the more best moments of doing a genealogy search on the oldest American branch of my family, was finding an Army pay-stub for an ancestor of mine serving in South Carolina during the War of 1812. It kind of cemented just how long this country's been our country, even if most of my ancestors were recent immigrants.

In 03 when I went back in at age 39 the FIRST place I called was the Corps. I was TOO OLD. Army National Guard was happy to take me though!

I was an E-5 in the US Navy on Submarines (doing intel stuff) in the early to mid 1980's and I did 2 years in the Army Guard as an S2 SGT in '03-'04. I am a civilian doing R&D for the Dept. of Defense now as a contractor.
But my oath to serve and protect the Constitution of the USA against all enemies both foreign and domestic has no expiration date.
I like to say "age and trechery will always overcome youth and vigor". I may be old and tubby, but there's fire in my belly and starch in my spine.

We got the paystubs off of microfiche for my wife's great, geat, great ? Grandpappy who was recruited in Liver Pool England as a starving Irish lad. He fought in the 8th Ohio Cavalry in the Civil war for the duration. he was shot twice, captured twice, escaped once, ransomed once, and re-enlisted once. He settled on a Homestead near Kansas City Missouri and he lived until 1909.
We've managed to find him in a couple of old little known history books (just his name) that detailed the action the 8th Ohio saw.

About 15 to 20 years ago, I read an article in Texas Monthly about a guy who was sort of a "flame about town", in the DFW area, who , as it turned out was a relative of mine I'd never met. I think he was an art dealer. Many in the art community there believed him to possess artwork stolen from the Jews during Hitler's reign of terror. When I came to the conclusion that he was family, it was a very unsettling thing to know. I don't think HE Stole it but it seemed he probably did, at least, have it at one time.I think the article said he had died recently to the time the article was written.

You might want to explain the lack of a time frame to L4S, who feels entitled to prophesy the coming of the end times.

The Constitution is all about our God given rights, and keeping the government from taking them. Sorry you can't see the connection. As for why L4S is wrong, I have already laid that out. The dominionist dictatorship he advocates is the same as that advocated by the Islamists of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. I see no reason to save this country from Marxists, orthodox, pseudo-, or crypto-, only to turn it over to a hellish religious dictatorship, "Christian" or otherwise.
