Super Tuesday Open Thread
by PubliusToday, voters in 12 states go to the polls to decide party nominees for this fall’s elections. Among the biggest state races to watch are California, Nevada and South Carolina. Also on tap tonight, Sen. Blanche Lincoln will likely lose her party’s nomination for reelection. It is going to be that kind of year for incumbents.

Zombies are out voting today lets see how many incumbents get a shot at a second chance! CA Gov primary is a joke, Whitman and Poizner spent apprx $100 mil on campaigning for this primary. They show good restraint on spending huh! Send a great msg to the voters for a state that is BK over outrageous spending, anyone who votes for either of these fools needs their head examined.
This is just a battle in a great war coming in politics and I am truly concerned that the zombies who dont pay attention and have a clue are going to elect the wrong ppl again. Insanity.
Just keep making your phone calls, sending your faxes, emails and snail mail… oh and lets not forget the protests with all the cute signs it has done wonders esp since stopping that HC bill from going through the politicians really got the hint from the people… NOT!

Hope you folks are better off then we are in California. Out of the Governors race we have the Bum of the Month. Meg, Steve or Jerry we are screwed. We needed some one like Jeff Christy. We needed some one to come in to the State Capital and fight every day like it was a bar fight with knives coming out of the wood work and clips hitting the floor. What we will get is another Gov. Arnold type.
How do we stop the Unions or those with personal fortunes from buying the office they run for.
What a loser deal for our State and the entire Republic.

Can you imagine? 72 million dollars for a campaign (whitman)? All those dollars could go to the farmer or to some good cause . It's totally disgusting.
Money, money, money. Screw them.

I'm conflicted over this one. Who would be easier to beat in the general election?
Ya, think about spending 72 Million Dollars for a job that pays 250 thousand a year. She is perfect to run California with that Rate of Return of Her Investment. That is how we do it here. Better yet, Jerry Brown will get the Unions to steal the Dollars at the expense of the tax payers to pay for his election.
There has to be a better way.
That and a lame duck riding out their term in office can be more destructive than an incumbent, they have nothing to loose.

We have an interesting race here in Georgia. Republican Tom Graves won the special election runoff to replace Nathan Deal in Congress. Tom's tenure as a congressman may be short lived if he doesn't win the GOP primary next month. Thanks to Nathan Deal retiring to run for Governor the voters of the 9th congressional district will have gone to the polls four times this year (special election, special election runoff, primary, general).

Too true, and that would be six months of lame duck status as opposed to the usual two.
I'm conflicted because the unions are dead set against Lincoln, and that makes her a liability to the democrats. On the other hand, obama endorsed her, and I'd just as soon not see her eek out a win so obama could gloat.
I think I lean towards wanting Lincoln to win just to piss off the unions.

Blanche Lincoln has done an incredible amount of damage to the name Lincoln.
Getting Lincoln out is only 1/2 the battle, we need to flip the D to an R!

FOX News, CNN and AP have called this race for Blanche Lincoln.
crap…looks like blanche is still in.
Don't you think Lincoln will be easier to beat in November? The unions are NOT happy with her, so I don't think she'll get much help there.
oh well… hopefully in the fall she'll be gone. Who's the republican running against her?
Yes I agree, Lincoln is very weak and this race in particular will fracture liberals and independent liberals in Arkansas this November.
It should be a good one to watch!
Looks like Lincoln won in AR and the MoveOn and SEIU favorite lost. I hope it cost them alot of money.
It doesn't matter………..stick a fork in her……………she's done.
Well done.
The thing with the Democrap primaries is going to be who gets to captain a sinking ship in November. We ain't even got our engines warm.
TEA Party: stay loud, stay alert, stay pi$$ed off!
Be happy she won, the guy challenging her is far to the left of Obama and is owned by the unions, the unions won't back her now and that makes her the weakest candidate in November. Republicans have a face to run against that they can hang Obama's record on.
She will be spanked.
This is a party breaker for liberals in Arkansas.
not sure I'd want to hang anything on that face… somewhere in Arkansas a bag is missing a face.
How do you guys feel about Nevada…?
Angle ?
Lowden ?
Tarkanian ?
All three are supported by various TEA Party groups and there is a question as to whether or not people will vote to defeat Reid or vote against the winner to spite them.
I don't live there but my money is on Lowden, what say you…?
How about we just beat her with an ugly stick? Oh wait…too late for that. Someone already did.
I'm guessing Tarkanian won't get the nod. Too bad in one way, he's a solid Conservative. On the other hand, I have a sense that Angle or Lowden would be better reid opponents. I'm leaning towards Angle for the nomination.
I would be okay with her so long as people on our side will actually get out and vote to support her in November.
I want Lincoln to win the primary because she's been beaten up really bad in the primary and is trying to tack to the left, in the general she's going to have to reverse herself to appeal to independents and the R candidate will have a lot of footage from her primary campaign ads to slam her with.
John Boozman, a former state senator. He is from a very conservative area in the state, Northwest AR. He should clean the plow of either Dem. It will be funny to watch how Lincoln will become the unions best friend in September and I have an idea she will gladly accept their money and support. I believe it was Clinton's support that put her over the top today.
The unions will back her in Nov, they sure as hell won't back an R!
Well, at this point John Boozman has a 20 point lead over Lincoln in the polls. And the unions and lefties put all their money up against Lincoln. So how do they turn around now and get excited about supporting Lincoln?
I'd want to hang a coat on that face……to cover it up!
It looks like Meg Whitman will win the CA Governors race, she's riding a runaway train…
Whitman , Meg GOP 170,404 66%
Poizner , Steve GOP 63,977 25%
Naritelli , Larry GOP 6,861 3%
Newman , Robert GOP 4,209 2%
Chambers , Bill GOP 3,972 2%
Hughes , Douglas GOP 3,516 1%
Tully-Smith , David GOP 3,403 1%
Miller , Ken GOP 3,374 1%
Ah, but Obumma endorsed her in the primary, remember, his endorsement is the kiss of death in the general!
Angle's out to an early lead…
I hear Blanche managed to win a run-off, which means she gets the honor of being the official Democrat nominee destroyed in November. Congratulations Blanche, you've earned it!
That's what we have to hope for. But without any real negatives for Angle I'd say there's a good chance support for her will surge, and reid's negatives will bring him down.
From what Tarkanian said yesterday, he has never polled behind Reid. Which can't be said of Angle and Lowden. I think that's why dingy harry would rather face one of the girl's.
As is the case in many an election, most people vote for who they believe is the lesser of 2 evils…….
True — and Lincoln might be easier to beat than a fresh face.
Just in:
Meg Whitman just won in California, to run against Moonbeam Jerry Brown for Governor. She should clean his clock.
Until Nov. that is. I am actually happy that she won the primary, it shows that most of the Dems in AR reject the far left, which means that the general sentiment is to the right.
millions!
Nah, people that follow politics closely know she's no Abe Lincoln. And people that don't follow closely have no clue.
Of course, the union LEADERSHIP will back her. But remember she has come out against card check, so their support at best is going to look phony. And you don't get a lot of voter excitement from that kind of a phony endorsement.
I think the real vote of concern today is the open primary vote in CA. If that passes, CA is doomed to be a D-only state, and the top 2 will probably always be far left (think Pelosi). This is a problem because they make up so much of GDP and already have their hands out for a bail-out, putting more far-left libs in charge will only accelerate the problem.
Might be? She has an established senate record that most people are against! She can't deny how she voted!
I think it's going to be Angle. And I think she's going to take reid down. She is the ultimate "anti-reid" in so many ways, and reid's approval numbers are in the tank. To me, that's the perfect combination for a GOP win.
I think you underestimate how much like sheep union members are.
The ONLY way to save California is to split the State in two. North and the South with Davis and SF going to the South and Sacramento going to the North.
I am absolutely ecstatic that Lincoln won her primary. She has a big red bullseye painted on that frown of a face come November and her win tonight accomplished two things. 1) The unions lost a lot of $$$ tonight trying to unseat her, and 2) the conservative base in Arkansas is strong (think Huckabee) and it is home to a lot of retirees who remain pissed that she voted for Obamacare, after assuring everyone she was opposed to it. She's nothing but a typical two-faced lying lib.
Rest assured, come November she's what we call…..Bar-B-Qed.
Sadly, it looks like John Eastman will lose the Attorney General race in CA…..
Moonbeam Brown will have a fight on his hands. I predict he will be toast.
So once again, we will have a RINO running against a bleeding heart wako! It still amazes me how they can call races with only 11% of the votes in. Guess they count San Fran and LA first.
GOPsaver
It will take a Chris Christy to save CA….What do we get? Lou Christy…or worse Meg Whitman…Arnold with a vagina…
I'm hoping that the Nevadan electorate is so disgusted with dingy harry………………..that my little sister could unseat him…………………..and i don't think she's ever been to Las Vegas ………let alone Nevada.
All I know is President asskicker is going down in November 2012………………………Insha'Allah…….
Looks like it's Angle job to defeat the dingy one.
And if Moonbeam loses? Whitman will have the same problem as Arnold: A Legislature filled with liberals and reds. The political situation in California is hopeless and tonight’s passage of prop 14 basically institutionalizes regional democratic control. I’ll happily concede my state to the democrats… After all, they’ve nearly destroyed the place so we might as well let them finish the job as an example to the rest of the country.
Stay active, and get moving…The Dems are not going to be sitting on their hands
til November,….They'll start their ads and campaigns Wednesday….
Chopper, I hope your right!!….The Dems have stealing elections down to a Science, Not to mention,
all the money they get from Unions etc….Armies of ACORN people going and signing up people…
The GOP has nothing like that, that I know of!!
I'm sorry………………………………….I meant asslicker.
I'm thinking that November is going to be a bad, bad time. The Dems are going to hold/grow and you will be paying for it til the 2nd coming. It didn't go at as people were saying/hoping it would.

Whitman = Arnold V.2, looks like I'll be moving my business to Wyoming. Prop 14 is passing, so now we can have 2 dims run without a conservative, (kind of of like every race since Deukmajian).
Which the SEIU probably borrowed anyway (wait for more 'bank protests' – they don't pay their loans).
She spent $72 million, he spent $400,000 (and a lot of that was for catering meals). Whitman = Arnold V.2.
nos vemos en Wyoming
that crap bill passed too.
