Tonight, the House of Representatives will conduct a series of votes that will result, most likely, in the passage of the greatest expansion of government in our nation’s history. The vote is the outcomes of side deals, winks and nods, and the closest our system can come to open bribery. Democrats in Congress may think this is the end of the health care debate. It is only the beginning. Tonight marks a low point in our nation’s history, but, let’s draw inspiration from one of its highest points. (Check here for updates throughout the night.) The battle starts anew tomorrow.

Some talking heads think we'll probably all forget about this come November. That everything will be hunky dory and we'll like this bill so much we'll let them all keep their jobs and vote more of them in to get more handouts. I don't ever plan on riding this horse . . . I'm sure there are more out there like me. I was always taught if it looks like a turd, smells like a turd, it usually is one. I've never saddled up a turd and rode it. Don't plan on doing it now.

Why not make the gov't prove they can run an operation correctly, w/o fraud before you trust them with this monster? Medicare fraud is 60 billion/year. There was a lady on the 60 Minutes special (Medicare Fraud) that said for years, "please flag my name so no one else can bill Medicare using my name". Find good Constitutionalist candidates, preferably Washington outsiders, and do whatever it takes to get them nominated to run on the Republican line. If you end up with a liberal Republican on the ticket, then by all means go third party, but focus now on taking the Republican Party back as a place for those of us who respect the Republic and Constitution. King Troll: It is quite typical of those of your ilk, who deem themselves to be on the side of the angels, to ignore the impact of your proposed "helpful" fixes upon those you intend to help. This bill helps no one. Not a single person will get better health care because of this bill. Many people will get worse care at a higher cost. Just because you claim to care about someone does not excuse the fact that you are in favor enacting legislation that will harm those same people. To believe otherwise is naive or disingenuous at best, evil at worst.
The funniest thing I've heard today was on "Face the Nation" this morning, when one of the Democratic vote-counters said that the party absolutely was not in danger of losing seats in November, because once the bill was passed, everyone would see how reasonable the legislation is, and that there's no such thing as death panels, socialist takeovers, etc., and realize how silly conservatives' claims were. Is there a cure for wishful thinking, I wonder?
Even if they do get something through, which at this time it looks like that is going to happen, the public activism on this has maximize the political damage that this bill has caused up to this point.
We need to keep it up.

Unions got out of having to pay the obscene taxes on collectively bargained health care plans. But if you're one of those greedy people who gets a decent health plan but doesn't belong to a union, well, it's time to open up the wallet. I believe that's what he was referring to.

Hey troll, Congress isn't participating in their ridiculous, government dictated universal health insurance exchange, which "totally isn't a government takeover because we keep changing what we call it." They will still get their gold plated PRIVATE insurance plans which are now and always were available to you… so long as you pay for it. Problem is, those plans are going to get a whole lot more expensive now, yet Congress will retain them, paid for by you and me, but chances are now you'll never be able to afford anything better than the government approved plan. With 30 million new people who are paying little to nothing, and no new doctors, what you get will be of far lesser quality than what you currently enjoy (but don't worry about Congress, thanks to the taxpayer they will still be able afford to cut the lines) Congratulations jackass, you just screwed yourself, it's just a shame the rest of us have to suffer alongside you.

–The government IS going to refuse treatment for pre existing conditions, the ones that they determind to be too costly.
– I am not going to pay for your cranialrectoectomy because you decided to shove your head up you ass, nor am I going to pay for new lungs because you smoked. I don't expect you to pay for my knee surgery because I am too old to be driving the lane playing hoops with my kid and his friends or for my glasses.
–You see health care as a Right but it's not, it's a commodity. I say that because our government does not have the powers to GRANT a Right. To ADD a Right, there must be an amendment to the Constitution and ratified by 3/4 of the states.
