Stupak Finally Sells Out: 8-9 Pro-Life Dems Will Vote for Bill to Fund Abortions

Democrats have reached a deal on an executive order on abortion that could hand them a victory on healthare.
“Eight or nine” Democrats, including Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), will announce the deal at a 4 p.m. press conference, according to an anti-abortion Democrat.
“We’ve changed [our votes],” said Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Ohio).
Driehaus said he’s seen the executive order and can now vote for the healthcare bill. He said Stupak has signed off, as well.
Driehaus made his remarks just a few moments ago in the Speaker’s Lobby. He said the group of “eight or nine” Democrats — including Stupak — who had been withholding their votes plans to announce the deal at 4 p.m. in the House Radio/TV gallery.

Obama does not have the authority to issue an executive order that changes legislation that passes both chambers and is signed by himself. He has to veto the legislation, not pick and choose after the fact that which he wants to change. This ain't over.

If he gets an executive order saying no federal funds are to be used for abortion and it is enforeable and legal, that is all he has wanted. He has repeatedly said that is what he wants. He has stated he favors the legislation, just not federal funding.
I don't agree with his support of the legislation but he is one democrat who speaks truthfully and didn't give in to pressure and bribes. He has some integrity in my mind at least from what I am hearing now.

3. Tax food to pay for the subsidies
4. 67 federal agencies to gaurantee proper nutrition, preparation, purchasing, delivery, decided what is "proper" food. Prevent all "non necessary" (not approved) food from being sold. Mandate state and federal provisioned nutrition courses and enforce the purchasing of all proper food via the IRS.
5. Massive fines and jail time for failure to comply.

Federal funds are used for abortions in other countries. One of the first things Obama did (January 23, 2009) was reverse the ban on federal funds going to organizations that provided abortions overseas.

Correct me if I am wrong but if he signs the executive order first(and buys the votes he needs) then signs the bill into law, won't the new 'law' take precedent over the 'older executive order' thereby making the EO null and void?

Executive orders as I understand them are effective but need to be ratified by congress to become law. Not sure on the ordering you refer to but it makes sense.
Come to think of it,,,I wonder is the EO that Kennedy signed to authorize unions for federal employees was ever ratified. If not that should be at the top of the list for the next republican president.
When this vote is over be sure and post a copy on your September calendar of the final count showing how each Representative voted. All the "Yeahs" must be booted out of office come November! Until then, keep praying, the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

What kind of arm-twisting took place for Stupak to change? Hard to say.
If the President issues an Executive Order, well and fine. But, Executive Orders are not law and can be rescinded by the President without further discussion. The healthcare bill will be law and not likely to EVER be repealed.
