Tuesday Open Thread: Massa Edition
by PubliusRep. Eric Massa (D-NY) has been pressured to resign his seat in Congress, due to allegations of sexual harassment. He have no information about the truth of the charges, but we find it interesting that the Democrat leadership moved so swiftly to push his ouster. Certainly, it has nothing to do with the fact that Massa was a vote against “cap-and-trade” and “ObamaCare.”

I feel a little uncomfortable using this guy's name. After all, I would hate to be branded a "racist"…
I do not know the 'real' charges against this man Massa, but if it is just an off the collar remark, then he should have stayed to cast his no vote! We have to hold our opinion until we know the WHOLE story…if that ever comes out! As far as the Rahm story, about showing up in the gym showers and railing against Massa in the buff,…well Massa should have shown Rahm what waterboarding is all about! There has to be more to this story then is being told…that off the cuff remark is just NOT enough to get a Rep, to resign….Did Rahm threaten his family?? I wouldn't be surprised by any of the Chicago mob tactics used by these guys!!
I tend to believe Massa, but with the charges he has against him, his
credibility will be challenged, and the Democrats will cream him…..
I hope he puts a "doubt" in some peoples minds about how the
Dems are running things and opens up some eyes….Keeping my
fingers crossed!!
So Obama said that the insurance industry was not able to give him any good reasons for raising rates. What reasons DID they give? Was the meeting recorded?
Isn't the profit margins on insurance companies around 2 or 3%?
The opportunities for off color humor here are legion. Massa was soap-on-a-rope-a-doped – Rahmed – into resigning.

Far be it for me to defend ANY of the idiot Democrats in Congress, but I wouldn't doubt what this guy has to say about Emmanuel's tactics in the slightest. These people are the epitome of EVIL and they're out to literally destroy the greatest country and political system on the planet for their own, selfish purposes. Every one of 'em needs to be tarred and feathered, as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe he could be persuaded to 'switch hit' and join the GOP.
I can only hope that there are many more cracks in the wall that holds this criminal coalition together. Massa may be an imperfect witness, but he may give courage to others who are ticked at the Democrat leadership for forcing many of them to trash their careers for Obama.
Massa is a lunatic! If this a Rahm smear with foundation, stay, fight, and vote NO just to tick him off. If allegations are true, stay thru 3/18 and vote NO, then quit. Quitting now, while claiming innocence, just shows him to be a coward. He talks big, witness his diatribe against Rush, and now Rahm. The man needs medication!

I hope Congressman Massa is telling the truth. I also hope it is the leak in the dike that takes down obummer, queen pelosi, and dingy harry. Then the draining of the swamp can commence! Hopefully, rahm "deadfish" emmanuel, dave "wylie coyote" axelrod, valerie "slumlord" jarret, and the rest of the White House liars and deceivers will all soon be gone. This is a guy who stated he would vote for a public option even if his constituents were against one. I am having a hard time deciding which side to take here. Could someone help me here?
Who honestly knows what this is all about? However where there is smoke there is generally something burning, flaming, smoldering. Put nothing above Odumblo and his boy commie punks. I believe Odumblo and boys when they say "whatever it takes". They seize every opportunity to destroy and do so from within. Odumblo and punks are the most dangerous people on the planet.
I think this will be wildly entertaining. Massa is going to be on Beck today for the full hour. I think Massa just said No Massah, and didn't toe the mark and walk the line. It'll be nice to see the Dem's go through a little scorched earth for awhile.

So far the reporting on this from the MSM has been ridiculous. They want to bury the story Massa wants to tell, but are superficially covering it without quoting him. Glenn Beck and Rush are doing better. He makes a lot of big allegations of corruption going all the way up to Rahm, and to include the Union bosses. But what I haven't heard and what I want to know is just what kind of allegations of sexual harassment were made? What did he do that was so bad? I heard he made a dirty joke and some staffer accused him of sexual harassment.
I've been warned over and over about sexual harassment. Basically even something as harmless among adult colleagues as telling a joke can be taken as offensive and basically the bureaucrats have defined sexual harrassment in such a way that a joke can be sexual harassment. I really doubt that this man was actually sexually harassing another man. Rather, he was plucked off with career assassination tactics because of his no vote. The MO of Democrats is all over this, if his allegations are true I wouldn't be suprised one bit.
Also you have to consider that the democrats were willing to buy out Mary Landrieu and that other clown from Nebraska pretty much out in the open. Everyone knew. So it makes sense that they would also be willing to ruin this guys career out in the open. Not only does this help them achieve their goals but it serves as a warning shot to other wavering house members, "Don't mess with us or we will destroy you."

Massa's issues with Obamacare are that it doesn't include a Public Option. He is the guy a few months ago, during the town halls, that was on video telling a group of opponents that he would vote for Single Payer Option even if 80% of his constituents didn't want it.

That doesn't mean the Dems aren't driving him out though. I believe if he were a Yes vote, this "scandal" would not have been leaked. This isn't the first time a Dem has come forward recently saying the Obama WH is forcing/keeping them out. Harold Ford, Tamyra D’Ippolito, Joe Sestak, David Paterson…who else?

Has anyone on this page considered for one minute that the harassment charges just might be true? Let's see, there were numerous Democrats who voted against the health care bill in the House. Only one has come forward to date claiming he resigned under pressure and he would have voted for the bill, if it had a public option.

Truthfully, I have kept an open mind and considered it. This is humorous nonetheless. It is comic relief whatever way the coin flips. On the one hand, we have Massa and Rahn going at it, on the other hand, sex sells.
His rant was entertaining – picturing Rahm flopping through the shower room, finger waving back and forth, a stern grimace on his face, accusing Massa of some sort of betrayal. Very funny. (Sounds like a future scene in the military with the new approach to homosexuals.) But as with all folks there is always more to the story. At least it sounded as if this man understands the situation.

At this point, it doesn't matter. We have no idea about all the "triggers" in the Bill that would incrementally end in a one payer system. We don't trust this government to be open and honest about it.
I suspect, the people not voting for it because of "no public option" actually mean "no single payer" option. They want to be able to deliver the whole shebang not rely on pieces–that another congress might potentially be able to rescind.
The whole bill(s) are tainted. They should start over.

As we don't know the details of the accusation we can't condemn him on that. We should condemn a representative of his constituents that doesn't listen to his constituents – and makes as many flip-flops as possible to keep in power. The only thing we can say is that he has no principles and that the party who allows this sort of person onto their party deserve the beat-down they get.
Look at the Astroturf on display outside the Ritz Carlton in DC. All the paid protestors trying to break in and offer up "citizens' arrest warrants" against health care lobbyists. Arrests have been made. I am struck by all the people wearing the same color t-shirts, but I'm sure this will be called totally Union grassroots.

Yes it is. If it weren't so frightening and serious, it would be laughable.
Me too. That's not to say that there haven't been people who have been harassed by others using offensive sexual jokes. But in those cases it is deliberate. For example after being told "hey, that offends me, knock it off" the offender makes a point of waiting until the offended party is present before obnoxiously telling a deliberately offensive joke. This can clearly lead to a hostile work environment. But the answer we get from the politically correct types is zip your lips, CYA, and nothing you can do about it.
But also if you want to go by the rules of SH, usually in order for the charge of SH to stick, there has to be a case in which the offender was asked to stop. I'm eager to find out if this is the case. If a court case is pending, he may not be at liberty to discuss the details of the allegations. Because again if you want to go by the rules, spurious allegations of SH are treated as harshly as the crime itself.
The only allegation that was known is what happened last new years eve at a wedding party.
He stayed after his wife called it a night and went up to their room, he was sitting with a bunch of drunk junior colleagues one of which made a sexual remark to Massa who in turn made a snarky remark back – turns out it was a bystander who overheard the exchange and reported it – waa waa
I believe Massa is telling the truth and Rahm the lil freak went in the shower for this exchange so there could be no recording of the words spoken. This whole thing is the Dem Wrecking Ball at work – Massa said they were putting the pressure on him and ultimately, his family. Really now,, who doesn't believe this?!

Just finished watching Massa on Beck. Glenn was trying to get him to answer if there were any threats or corruption and intimidation at the hands of Rahm. He couldn't answer the questions.
Sounds like he just could not take the pressure of being in congress.
Said he was quitting over his health concerns.
