ACORN Workers Charged with Felony Voter Fraud

Five Wisconsin residents have been charged with criminal counts of voter fraud in the November 2008 general election, state Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced Monday.
Two of those charged – Maria Miles, 36, of Milwaukee, and Kevin Clancy, 26, of Racine – worked for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), the embattled community organizing group.
“The complaint alleges that Miles and Clancy submitted multiple voter registration applications for the same individuals, and also were part of a scheme in which they and other (special registration deputies) registered each other to vote multiple times in order to meet voter registration quotas imposed by ACORN,” the Van Hollen news release says.
Both were charged with one felony count.
ACORN could not be reached for comment Monday.
Also charged were a couple – Herbert Gunka, 60, and Suzanne Gunka, 54, both of Milwaukee – for supposedly double voting in November 2008, once absentee and once at the polls.
Michael Henderson, 40, was charged with two felony counts of being a felon who cast a ballot even though he was still on probation. The Milwaukee man was convicted in 2005 in Rock County with two felonies for bail jumping and one disorderly conduct misdemeanor.
He was sentenced to five years’ probation.
A felony for voter fraud carries a maximum penalty of up to 3 1/2 years behind bars and a $10,000 fine. All five individuals are scheduled to appear in court on April 20.
The charges were brought as part of the Milwaukee Election Fraud Task Force.
Van Hollen’s announcement comes the same day that the Journal Sentinel disclosed that a Milwaukee County prosecutor was accusing Milwaukee police of failing to investigate these cases for the first half of last year.

I live in this Milwaukee Area. We were hoping and praying that ACORN would get busted. We use the Psalms Ch 91 prayer, the Soldiers prayer..

I give full credit for this felony charge to Hannah and James. If it wasn't for their "cajones" , none of this would've been exposed. They blew the lid right off Acorn to the point they needed to morph into another entity.

As a Wisconsinite, please let me apologize for these treasonous acts to bastardize the election process. It's well known the Progressive movement has roots here in this state and it's shameful and embarrassing to sometimes admit that i hail from this state. The good news is that these scumbags were outed; the bad news is i fear there's much more that was not uncovered.
In order to make amends to you fine Patriots i will pledge to do all that i can to have Sen. Kohl and Feingold find new employment. Funny they have been silent throughout all of this.
Being beside the point, please let me remind you folks that the Census 2010 is gearing up and while the Bureau would have us believe that ACORN has been stricken from the payroll we must stay diligent in confirming who the Cnsus workers are representing. Sadly, my Census notification stated that my form will be coming in the mail, (shucks, i wanted to be able to interrogate these lemmings on my own!).
Again, please accept my state's egregious lack of due diligence.

Just goes to show, that one, or two people can sure make a difference.
If I am reading this article correctly, they found a total of three ineligible votes cast (the couple who each voted twice, and the felon wasn't eligible). And aside from those three votes, they registered a bunch of people to meet some quota, but those people didn't actually vote, correct?
So, if there were any relevant elections that were decided by 3 votes or less, I would be concerned. Otherwise, this seems like very small potatoes.
I like to think that Wisconsin isn't as far gone as that….

Looks like ACORN was getting ripped off by the workers who were trying to pad their numbers to boost their pay.
This is an occupational hazard of hiring people in inner cities for this kind of work.
Ten years ago I worked on a project for a judicial campaign in Detroit to check suspected fraudulent nominating signatures for an opposing candidate.
Sure enough, we found two paid circulators who worked together to work up a substantial number of fraudulent signatures, making up names and addresses, and when that got tiresome, copying names riught out of the phone book and using the active roster of the Detroit Tigers.
We did not find any evidence that the opposing candidate's campaign engaged in fraud, only that the two aforementioned circulators (plus a few other circulators who did not collaborate with each other) engaged in fraud.
In situations like these, there's probably a lot of cronyism involved, where an organization or campaign hires a buddy they think (a) they can trust, or (b) needs work/a favor/etc, and then the buddy brings on bad actors.
I'd agree with that also, to a degree. I liked his appeal when he ran, and when he was the Guv, but it seemed he reached the Ross Perot Tipping Point, and went over the edge. Once they do, they don't come back.
