Bayh: Congress Has Created No Jobs
by Publius
When politicians are free from the demands of reelection, they often find their true, inner voice. They often speak with an honesty that eludes them on the campaign trail. Retiring Senator Evan Bayh provides the latest example with this quote:
“If I could create one job in the private sector by helping to grow a business, that would be one more than Congress has created in the last six months.”
Ouch
Bayh has about 10 more months in his term. If he speaks with such openness the day AFTER announcing his retirement, imagine the gems yet to be uncovered.

By leaving, he will create one more job than obama has.
Obama hasn't tried to create jobs. In fact Obama is angry that the Obamascare bill and the energy tax biil have not been passed. Combined they are good for 3 million more job losses.
Given his family history, he is planning for a future election run somewhere. He knows that being associated as a Democrat Senator is political suicide.
So is Bayh going to actually read the constitution soon?
Tis not the job of anyone is gov. under the constitution to create jobs. Quit spending our money and regulating us to the grave.
Politicians know nothing about creating jobs, or creating wealth. They only know how to take.
Congress has created no private sector jobs and they never had any intention to. Their goal was to destroy the private sector. Real unemployment, over 17%, shows they're well on their way.
If you want welfare, to be a worthless POS and be dependent on others vote democrat.
If you want a job, have self respect and high standards vote Conservative.
Smart man…get off the democratic Titannic before it sinks!
My dear father told me to remember- why in hell would anyone want to be in politics unless they could steal your money or your liquor… or both?
And good for him for doing so. I am as conservative as they come, but I respect Bayh as a man of conscience and principal that is as disgusted with the leadership of his party as the rest. His family history is relevant; his father and he come from a time of disagreement between opposing party members who never-the-less worked for the good of the people. The divisiveness of the Obama administration, the thuggery, the by-offs are disgusting and unprecedented — I would hope that some Democrats would be as repelled as Republicans by their leadership. He actually has the guts to walk away, and fire some shots at the leadership as he goes. Bravo.
The hardest part is deciding who really is conservative. Who can we trust? There are so many RINO's and probably a small number of DINO's with a little more conservative view when compared to their genre. I wish we had a forum to discuss all candidates in all states so we could help out a little… like with Scott Brown.
I agree.
He said today that he wouldn't run for President in 2012. So that leaves 2016.
Now there is another idea for Breitbart, and another "Big" website………
"Big Politics" or "Candidates", or something………
It has already hit the Obama Iceberg.
i think he gave a clue when he said he liked being an executive better then
a Senator..Seems like he's upset with Obumble, Reid and Pelosi…I would
say, anyone in their right mind wouldn't want to be ordered about by those
3 losers!!..i agree with you all that say Obumble had no plans on trying to create
jobs, if he did, they would have made it easier for the small businesses
when Obumble first got into office…But this Jackass just wanted to make socialists
out of all of us, not create jobs!
i still don't know why there are so many stupid people out there. politicians do not create jobs, ever! they can make it easier for businesses to create them, they can easily destroy jobs. but the kinds of jobs politicians create make out pockets larger, due to the excess weight of money being removed from them. most companies that leave our country do so, not just for wages, but also governmental restrictions and rules. not just from the federal government, states, counties, and cities join in on pilfering business with fees, taxes, and regulations. usually because they figure the business does not vote. less government equals more jobs, more government equals less jobs, it is that simple.
The only jobs they can create are government jobs. Which of course just raises the taxes and sucks more money out of our economy. They (our government) do not wanna help us. They want to beat us down and make us submit. Why else would they do the opposite of help every chance they get. They can't really be that dumb can they? Its so frustrating watching these losers pissing away our money and future. Its more then just this last year (even though its far worse then anything we've seen EVER!!). They all have there special interest and agendas and there not ours. They have been way out of control for along time.
Senator Bayh's comment is the most honest statement I've heard from a Democrat since …I don't know when!
How about Big or Biggest BS of the Day?
Since Lyndon Baines Johnson said:
" My fellow Americans, "I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president," ……………

I don't know these Politicans will do or say anything to keep their finger in the pie .Even tell the truth.
thats great.
"…in the last six months," he says? Congress hasn't created any jobs in the last 26 months!
Of course the giveaway that Bayh is a democrat is his swiftness in resorting to the blame game. And what has been his contribution, as Senator, in increasing jobs for Americans (other than providing his own seat after he leaves, as MSMediacritic points out above)?
Must be nice to afford to quit your job when you see that the going will get rough–
Amen…!!!
A +1 to you…!
Kindly like Ol' Arlen Spinchter.
Switching parties. Originally from Democrat, to Republican, now back to Democrat. POS.
Right on, CL. I think AB could put together something, by state, that we could view to discuss and make individual choices about what would best serve our country. Heck, if he doesn't want to do , maybe like minded folks like us can. It ain't rocket science… just a little cash. I can gather up a couple of grand for the cause. Heck, that would be a very good investment.
I still think someone needs to come up with a special website for MooShelle. Call it "Bigg Booty".
Bayh is just getting out early to get his pick of the best plum lobbying jobs…before the others HAVE to look for work…
He should've joined ol' Joe Wilson way back when…or stood up and said "No"for cloture on Health Care…or even let out a peep when the SCOTUS was targeted…
Give me a Brown anyday… he hasn't been there long enough to swallow his pride and suck up the Obama Administration sanitary bilge pumpings without question…he has a mouth, and knows how to use it…
One world government?
Yes. The capital will be in Athens, Greece………….
I have consulted my girlfriend and she insists (forgive her and the little pygmies in New Guinea) we call it the FirstBaboon.com. I hope you will understand my dilemma. My honey is very pragmatic.
A politician getting off the government tit.?#$^*+!!!!!!! What the Sam Hill is going on here?
He's starting to make me think that maybe the government really has created jobs.

F*&k him. He stood at the platform, gave his support and voted for the man child. Sure he wants out now!
Yes it's hit the iceberg but he's not getting a seat on a lifeboat. Somebody hand him a lead life jacket.
He's not going to be the last to try to recover from this. F*&k them all I say.
O-slime-a "wanted to make socialists out of all of us, not create jobs!"
I agree 110%.
What they did not teach him in his social engineering courses is that humans possess an indomitable spirit and will resist being subjugated with every ounce of their will.
He was a "community organizer"/ political agitator and he honed his skills dealing with like minded individuals in very limited circumstances.
He is now receiving a hard lesson in political unrest and I don't think he will recover gracefully.
Too bad Obama couldn't create or save Bayh's job.
You two are very very bad! In a good way of course
Hey, I didn't get a thank you note, what's up with that?! I hope Brown doesn't go goofy and get swallowed up by the machine of mayhem. Bayh is setting the stage for his future, no freakin doubt about it -
There are a couple of things being shot around Indianapolis about his future:
1) Him making a run at Governor, again.-Personally, I don't see that happening for a lot of reasons.
2) Him getting a position at a college/university like his dad (his wife has also taught at the college level).-This one I see as highly probable, if not likely
3) Him riding off into the sunset.-Nah, in Indiana, the Bayhs are politicians, he'll be doing something.
He said he's, "an executive at heart." Talk about telegraphing your punches. He's been a governor. The only higher executive job in government is president. He's getting out before the "Democrat Bloodbath of '10" to prepare for a presidential bid. He hates what the far left has done to the Democrats, and he want's to position himself as a Clintonian centrist willing to pick up the pieces.
Mark. my. words.
Got his Pension and is outta there.
I agree he's learning a hard lesson in political unrest….And, I also
think he's going to make a lot of noise, and try all kinds of tricks…
He'll have to be watched closely….Obumble and his cronies, or
should I say, Marxists. still have some tricks up their sleeves……
I keep asking myself, how did we sink so low!!
I think you're right….I saw him interviewed on Gretas show a few
times, and he left me thinking he wasn't one bit happy about the
way the Dems were running things, and it seemed like the huge
budget deficit was getting to him…..
OnCommonGround, don't feel like the lone ranger, we
didn't get a thank you note either……..lol…

Like many, many other people already have stated…The purpose of the federal government is NOT to create jobs. So Sen. Bayh's job's statement is meaningless, pointless, and proves just how out of touch he really is. I also think the American people are a little out of touch. Everyone wants to harp that it's not the job of the government to create jobs, yet if they were to actually create some, nobody would care. Just like all the "new" jobs that have been created in the public sector. Don't hear anyone moaning about getting a kush $75,000 gig with the Feds, of course not. People tend to get really selfish when it come to employment and that is itself part of the problem.
I am still looking for an explaination of why he voted for the Obama healthcare bill?
My Mom always said "if they weren't a crook when they went in, they were a crook when they came out"
He is resigning with his head held high rather that with his tail between his legs in November. He knows he won't win, so he's taking all his marbles (plus the 13 million in his war chest) home. And he thinks he quit on his own terms….NOT.
I believe he was the captain of the Titanic…not the iceberg. Then he said "speed up." I want to get to economic collapse as soon as possible (the iceberg). Then, of course, we cannot let a perfectly good disaster go to waste. Can we say one world govt?
If that were the case, he would not have voted down party lines in practically all votes. My cynical opinion is that he taking advantage of the political climate.
Regarding the "Vaopr jobs" that will come to save Obama. How I ask will those jobs appear? It is not like they are building a factory or starting an industry and we can see these future jobs. No factories are being built or re-fitted…in fact they are still closing. Even if they started today with a "green job" (which they are not)…it will be 5-years before a job materalizes. There is no industry in the US!
"We the People" can see the empty factory parling lots with weeds growing in the cracks. So to the media…stop with the jobs crap…We want to know when and where the jobs are being created; what factory or industry, what type of job and how many. If you cannot answer these questions…then the job is a "Vapor Job"!
A great line, "No jobs where created by Congress and I a smuart cenator votud for de steimlis bill."
and now they're angry because the Supremes gave those companies a chance to have a voice to speak out against their pilfering …

That's a lot of F's!
Bye Bayh. It is not government's place to create jobs. The private sector does that. We also tell you what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. Nice pic. Bayh's mother probably thinks he is cute.
This is surprising…because?
WHEN will this administration learn….it is NOT their job to create jobs!!!!
Sorry. There is no weaning.
Instead of standing up and doing the right thing; Bayh is abandoning ship ahead of women and children. He deserves no credit whatsoever.
Obama only funds those who fund him.
Okay, but will Satan let him buy his soul back? Or is it like taking TARP money?
I'd say we have a pretty good start of where some of them stand. Just look at what they have done over the past year. But you are correct, we need to get a refined list of who can serve us for the next election cycle.
BTW, Scott Brown isn't conservative enough for me. But I still thank the people of MASS.
Oh yeppie it is….. if you are a Democrat.
It will not matter in 2016
Obama has destroyed the Democratic center for a generation.
The democrats have been running conservatives for years to rebuild it's position in Congress. Then the left expected the center to hold when it seizes GM, the health industry and demonizes private business. Obama used threats and arm twisting for a year to hold them together but all they passed was pork.
The left is going to shatter again. We will have to wait 30 years for a new young generation dumb enough to vote for these fools again.
it was just a swipe at the dem leadership.
I agree. My thinking is we need to work hard to get rid of as many progressives (both sides of the aisle) as possible during the next election cycle… much like what happened in Massachusetts. At the same time, we need to keep our eyes on the ball and remember that this mess didn't happen over night and it will take several election cycles before we convince a vast majority of the population that the most important thing is our freedom and our Constitution. Until then, we will have to compromise at times- such as supporting a moderate liberal as opposed to a progressive RINO. In the end, we will succeed.
If only he would have voted against the stimulus and health care,……..
That 13 million dollar war chest that he will not have to spend in a failed senatorial re-election bid just might have done him some good in the 2012 presidential race.
Now he is going to have to spend a lot of that money on tap dancing lessons.
"OK Evan lets take it from the top again"……I tapped for it before I tapped against it.
Thanks for posting the link. I so enjoyed casting my F votes.
Here is a perfect example of the White House job creation efforts…thanks to the First Lady…. as reported by the Canadian free Press… simply astounding

I really like this guy all of a sudden…
They did create a pretty big snowjob.
Calling Bill Clinton a Centrist stretches credulity. He was FORCED to the center from the left by the right. If he were allowed to follow his natural inclinations, he would have been every bit the Leftist radical that Obama is.
The Republicans are more than willing to take the responsibility for job creation, too. Be fair now. ;0)

His father (Birch) came from a time when the Democratic party was a "very" different animal. Back then, it was not nearly as liberal and filled with progressives, as it is today. My father-in-law, as was his father, were traditional Democrats. My F-I-L's father was also a leader in the state Dem party. Both felt that the Dem party had left them and had not voted straight ticket ever since Carter came into office. My f-i-l has not voted for a Democrat at all, since Carter. That said, I think Bayh was a fair Governor. However, when he got to the Senate, he tended to vote Party the vast majority of the time, even though it went against the "blue-dog" label.
