When Peter Schweizer uncovered evidence of insider trading by Republican chairman of the House Financial Services Committee Spencer Bachus (R-AL), and 60 Minutes reported on it, I was the first person to call for Rep. Bachus to resign. That was November 14, 2011. Now, with news that the Office...

Here's to you, Mr. President! You were the best man to occupy the Oval Office in 100 years!
Here hoping we win another one for the Gipper!
Publius I agree. The country is ready and waiting for such a person to emerge.
He had the intangible qualities to be a great leader. Beyond any policies, he conveyed a warmth, a passion, a confidence, and a desire for the the nation to succeed. We were in this endeavor together. If individuals succeeded, the nation would prosper. A common sense approach with a vision for the greater good of the country
I will always remember his address to the nation following the "Challenger" exploded. Whether you like his politics or not, he truly was a great leader
I would agree Pres Reagan was a once in a life time leader, during a non-revolution society, we are now living in a revolutionial society as our founders, and we are being supressed by a tyrannical government like our founders.. Look at all of the great founding fathers not just one but plenty like Jefferson, Paine, Franklin, Washington, Adam et al:.. Revolution brings out more then one great person as out of the masses the freedom seekers will rise, our goal will be to spot the TRUE freedom seekers and pass by the power seekers…
Pres Reagan was the ONLY president of the 20th century to understand the founding fathers dreams, lets support them all by throwing out the current so called leaders amd replace them with true Constitutionalist..
lets put WE THE PEOPLE back in charge !!!
Dittos to all comments above. RWR was a great man and greater leader.
When you take notice of where and how GE operates, supports in this country it is difficult to remember Ronnie was a spokesperson for them for a long time. Testament as to how far behind this country has fallen in the last 25years or so. Shameful.
All I can add is, what a great man! He made me feel proud, I
think it might have been because he was proud of his country,
and it's people, and especially of the military…When he would
give a salute to a Military man, you could tell he respected that man…
I miss you Mr. President!!
The old saying "You never know what you've got til it's gone" applies here! Where is the NEXT Ronald Reagan?? We need you now! Someone who is proud of the United States of America…NOT someone who "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country"!!!
I'm celebrating by re-reading Wasington's letters, LIncoln's second inaugural address, and MLK's letter from Birmingham jail. Giants among men.
Sorry, missed the "h" in Washington. Need a tad more coffee to wake up.
I am 54 years old, and Ronald Reagan is the only great president that I have witnessed in my lifetime, and sad to say, in all probability will be the only great president that I will ever see.
More than meets the eye to the blind ideologues that infest American and international politics, President Reagan was a clear-eyed visionary. One need only to look at his National Security Decision Drectives (NSDD) to see that he had a plan to restore U.S. power and prestige while taking on the Soviet Union:
http://ftp.fas.org/irp/offdocs/nsdd/index.html
Mr. Reagan was the right man at the right time who seized the moment., and the world is a better place.
BTW – Reagan was a much better actor that he was given credit for:

Thank you, President Reagan, for the memories, and for being there when you were so desparately needed.
I was in high school when he was President. Not much in to politics, but remember how many (even my dad that was a staunch Republican) people didn't care for him for one reason or another. And now, as we can see, he truly was a great man as well as President. Definitely true that you don't realize what you have until its gone, and in this case, it's also true that history and time revealed the magnitude of his greatness. I hope this is also seen with GWB in the decades to come.
I miss you President Reagan…You were a class act!
Ronald Reagan was my commander-in-chief. I was proud to serve this country under his leadership. There will never be another Ronald Reagan. Why some conservative leaders in this country want to run away from his legacy and his conservative ideology is beyond me.
Agree with all of the above and then some! How I long for a return to the days when Presidents acted responsibly. RWR was "Presidential", a great man that was born to be President. When one goes to look up the definition of POTUS, there should be a picture of RWR! I am going to Australia this summer to visit my daughter with a stopover on the return trip at the Reagan Presidential library. What a trip, and my daughter begrudgingly concedes how much I am looking forward to the return trip as well, because my family understands how important it is to me to pay respects to this great man, something I have wanted to do for many years. Happy birthday, MR. PRESIDENT, and best wishes to Nancy, "Ronnie's rock". What a TEAM and as Americans we can only hope to be so fortunate as to have an opportunity in the future to put a team of this caliber back in the WH! GOD bless the USA!
God bless you, Mr. President. A REAL man and a REAL President….unlike the boy-child we have now. We need you!!!
Lincoln, Reagan, two out of three aint bad! May God bless this nation with another Ronald Reagan, and too have lived in those times and witnessed the transition between the uber-liberal incompetent Carter, too the firm reasoned Reagan…just wow! Who will be Barry’s replacement.
Sung using my very best breathy Marilyn Monroe impersonation: "Happy Birthday, Mr. President……"
Ronald Reagan was trashed by the same media agenda that we are now beginning to see right through. He was maligned as stupid and ineffective. His sanity was constantly ridiculed and his policies were given the same anti-capitalist, marxist spin we see everywhere in the MSM. Everything he did was attacked as evil. Even now our schools teach reverence for people like FDR and often ignore Reagan.
And yet, history has proven he was a Great President and a Great man. The truth will always win out. Long live the Reagan spirit in America!
Check out the new version of "Mmm Mmm Mmm Barack Hussein Obama" at: http://www.myspace.com/rogerweber
You'll get a laugh!
First — and most importantly — Reagan never balanced a budget. In fact, Reagan never came close to balancing a budget. For all of his talk about hating big government, Reagan did a fair amount of solid work in creating a bigger federal government.
Republicans want to claim the mantle of Reagan. However, the truth of Reagan's record is far more sobering. Reagan never balanced a budget and he sent the country into mammoth amounts of debt, his tax cuts never even came close to paying for themselves.
Reagan sold arms to terrorists in iran and used the money to fund right wing contras in nicaragua, death squads in guatemala, and oppress liberals across latin america. Reagan supported the apartheid government of South Africa for the sole reason that it was a “key anti-communist ally”. Under his administration, Reagan abandoned the relatively successful policy of detente and implemented the “Reagan Doctrine,” a plan to provide overt and covert aid to right-wing guerrillas and insurgencies, in essence supporting conflict. He gave support to Saddam Hussein’s regime as well as Islamic mujahideen guerrillas in Afghanistan, including a young Saudi man named Osama bin Laden (does the term “blowback” come to mind)
A truly great man. What he did was great alright! He kicked off the greatest fleecing of the American people in our rich and storied history. Thank you Reagan for leading the way during your presidency. In those eight years, the United States moved from being the world's largest international creditor to the largest debtor nation.
Q: My name is Cam Fitzie and I'm from St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia. I was wondering if you think that it is possible to decrease the national debt without raising the taxes of the public?
PRESIDENT REAGAN: I do, unfortunately, I added on 20,5%debt/GDP. To put that in context, I was the first President to increase our debt%/GDP, since 1945! (Not counting Nixon/Ford's pathetic 0,1% increase of course)
I started a trend that raised our debt%/GDP from 32.6% to 75.5% in 2009! Remember, it would've been greater if it weren't for that "tax & spend" yahoo Bill Clinton!
The important lesson to be learned here? By simply duping the American public, my rich friends and I have just gotten richer, and the kicker? I'm remembered as a "fiscally conservative" President!
Wake up America, it DOESN'T MATTER which party controls the White House. They are ALL implicitly guilty!

Blah blah blah Iran-Contra blah blah blah Nicaragua blah blah blah "oppress liberals across latin america???? what? sorry but that is hilarious. Yes Reagan oppressed liberals across latin america. Give me a break. LMAO! You cannot be serious. I would LOVE to see your logic behind that one…
You believed all that crap. How quaint.
Those eyes and that smile……He was 10 feet tall to me. ….I do miss him.
"Under his administration, Reagan abandoned the relatively successful policy of detente"
O yeah this contianment, detente policy worked so well that the Soviet Union was only able to expand to Armenia, Georgia, Mongolia, Turkmenia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirgizia, Poland, Lithuania, Moldavia, Latvia, Albania, Estonia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, East Germany, Yugoslavia, North Korea, South Yeman, Cuba, Congo- Brazzaville, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Guinea- Bissau, Cambodia, Loas, Ethiopia, Angola Mozambique, Nicaragua, Seychelles, Grenada and Afghanistan, all this under that great Democrat policy that you claim worked so well..
Pres Reagan tore all this down in his 8 years as pres. while the dem's kicked and screamed the whole way.. This bright light to the liberal failed policy of detente and its one of the reasons they changed to calling themselfs the Progressives again..
Please do yourself a favor and get a REAL education !!
This is hard to admit, but I never voted for Reagan. I was a misguided liberal idiot in the 80's, but have since seen the light. I fall back on Winston Churchill's quote (and I'm paraphrasing) "If you're not liberal when you're young, you have not heart. If you're not conservative when you're older, you have no brain." God bless you President Reagan.
You know, for a group that always celebrates context, depth and nuance, youlefty folks sure have an inability to see beyond the obvious when it comes to Ronald Reagan. The context of two superpowers and the real possibility of worldwide nuclear destruction, America's weakened military and post Vietnam "malaise", a Democratic Congress that the great man had to work over, under and around and a hostile media. Still, he accomplished great things which resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union which resulted in a peace dividend's resources being directed into R&D which resulted in the economic boom of the nineties which Clinton took credit for. Yeah, just another dumb conservative. Worrying about the nuts and bolts of day to day geopolitics in that context is like watching King Kong go at it with the Tyrannosaur and lamenting that the undergrowth was being trampled.
So the fact that treasury receipts doubled due to the tax cuts didn't "pay for themselves". The dirty little secret here is that Tip O'Neil and gang's spending outstripped revenue so bad that deficits resulted. There was no line item veto so they attached defense spending to huge pork bills and Reagan had to sign them. By peeling back a tiny bit of the veneer of this argument, you can see the truth that tax cut simply work. Why do you suppose retailers have sales?
Ronald Reagan was to conservatives,
what FDR was to progressives.
Personally, I believe Regan was the better man.
Check out this clip from Reagan's classic "A Time for Choosing" speech that splices in some modern liberals: http://www.youtube.com/user/Optoons#p/u/17/qFcj3Z...
Worrying about the nuts and bolts of day to day geopolitics in that context is like watching King Kong go at it with the Tyrannosaur and lamenting that the undergrowth was being trampled.
That's a great analogy.
Character, character, character. May the long time sun shine upon you Ronnie! Long may you run!
I went to Tampico IL once, to see his birthplace. I understand completely why he left.
We miss you Ron and wish you were here to fix this mess that the socialists have gotten us into…
The saddest fact is that 36% of all Americans view socialism favorably these days according to a recent Gallup survey.
We're sorry we didn't listen and allowed an avowed communist to be elected in 2008…
This ideology that murders the human spirit must be destroyed!
We will turn the tide back to freedom in 2010!
This is what happens to people who actually BELIEVE the garbage that the msm put out, instead of doing their homework…you should NEVER rely on ANY media!!!
Obviously hockeynation is a dipstick liberal. But, your line: "Reagan sold arms to terrorists in iran and used the money to fund right wing contras in nicaragua, death squads in guatemala, and oppress liberals across latin america." Fails to also define thos "liberals" as dictatorships that killed and buried their own people in mass graves because they did not support them. I'm glad we fed the revolutionaries that eventually saved their people from mass extinction in the jungles. And, by the way, a few have risen back to power by way of murderous rampage and see where they are today and what they do to their people? Oppression in Central America is once again on the rise in new name of "socialism". Chavez, Ortega are again punishing their own people in order for them to remain in power and they too will suffer a downfall once we get a President with half the balls of Ronald Reagan and counter them and place them in prison or the ground. You are sick, boy, absolutely sick with your liberalism.
Ronald Regan was our President, and he was my Commander in Chief.
Ihad the honor once to meet him and shake his hand.
He was genuine, he was sincere, he cared.
In his presence, one was aware that he was a true Human Being.
Too this day, I can get emotional just thinking about him or talking about him.
I can remember the times in my life when I have cried.
When my children were born, and the day that Mr. Reagan died.
He changed the world, and the world is no longer grateful.
Thanks for this link…great video…I've passed it along.
Excellent quote of Chruchill's! And it's the truth!
We've gone from a great leader who tore down walls of tyranny to a self serving weasel who bows down and kisses the hands of tyrants while apologizing for how we have helped the world.
It takes one to know one! Long may you run!
I was thinking this morning that had Reagan not been pro-active in dismantling the Soviet regime, the MSM would not have the opportunity to lambast the Tea Party Convention going on in Nashville at this very moment. President Reagan was a game-changer. Liberals can complain all they want about the foibles and mis-steps of the Reagan presidency. All presidencies have them. The end result was that this one man was directly responsible for ending the Cold War, regardless of the contemporary Russian sentiments on the changing of their guard, or the sentiments of the progressive liberals of the world. I thank God for this man. He gave us the breath of fresh air and elbow room that conservatives needed to regroup, rethink, and bring ourselves to the response of the present moment. Happy birthday President Ronald Reagan.
Unfortunately this generation of Americans will never know Reagan's contribution to our country until Americans start writing our U.S. History text books again.
Where have you gone, Ronald Reagan? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
Happy Birthday, Mr President.
It's okay Vico I was VERY young once too but then I grew up and became VERY conservative!
Ralph,
Ronald Reagan came from a different era. A different age. He came from a time when Character counted, where Character was king.
Ronny screwed your middle class and it continues in Repug policies to this day—srew the repugs right back
The great peasant revolt of 2010!
Like the mix of your reading material.
You might want to add JFK's inaugural address to get a reminder of when this country was comprised of mostly Americans.
There was a time when liberals and conservatives played in the same ballpark.
I only wish he was my son's Commander in Cheif instead of the piece of scum excuse for a human we have now. It saddens me.
Hey bull-hockey, what grade are you in?
It is so easy to look back and recall history and not have to also explain the why's of certain events and actions.
Hockey, today is the birhday of the American president who tore down the wall of oppression and caged the hungry freedom eating bear.
We live to continue the struggle, only today it is called Islamic Terrorism, back in my day it was called communism.
Under his administration, Reagan abandoned the relatively successful policy of detente</>
Which was successful at …..what? Maintaining the status quo? Talk to someone who lived in the bloc nations under that wonderful regime that progressives so mourned the end of. Did this successful policy of detente thwart communist aggression? No, in fact it fed it. That's a bugaboo phrase. isn't it…"communist aggression". Oh, such an un-nuanced right wing slander. So loved by a Europe allowed to go stupid because the bill for their common defense was being footed by and their freedom to choose stupid was protected by us. The laundry list of detente failures is long. It's only success was the prolonging of a regime that should have fallen under it's own weight before it did. Mr. Reagan righted that wrong.
and implemented the “Reagan Doctrine,
That succeeded. 'nuff said.
Happy Birthday Mr. President! Wish we had more like you!

He was the first President I had the HONOR of voting for and I'm sad to say probably the last real PresidentI'll ever see
My brother and I were liberal Democrats and not only voted for but also campaigned for jimmy Carter.
It was then that we realized that the party no longer represented the ideals of our blue collar-union-Democrat roots.
We were both totally dismayed.
Then we heard Ronald Reagan speak.
Thank God we said, America is going to be saved.
It is so easy to look back and recall history and not have to also explain the why's of certain events and actions.
Hockey, today is the birhday of the American president who tore down the wall of oppression and caged the hungry freedom eating bear.

US Presidents used to be people we looked up to. Now we have this: http://www.commieblaster.com
First — and most importantly — Reagan never balanced a budget.
So, why didn't those unbalanced budgets throw us into economic freefall instead, setting the stage for the most prolonged era of economic prosperity we have ever had? Bush 41 couldn't kill it. Willy Jeff tried to kill it, but a Republican Congress stopped him and let him ride it out to unwarranted acclaim, forcing him to balance the budget . At the same time, we buried the Soviet Union. Quite an accomplishement…unless you are a destructive progressive.
Happy Birthday to the only true Commander in Chief I ever had
And may God bless him and this United States of America
Semper Fidelis
Served under Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush….Reagan was the only one worth anything…
Here are two contrasting views of government from President Obama and Ronald Reagan from their inaugural speeches:
…not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works. (Obama)
…government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. (Reagan)
The full quotes are too large for the comments but you can see them here: http://www.rickety.us/2009/01/reagan-and-obama-co...
I really enjoyed having Reagan as president. He did a terrific job.
Surely by now we have the technology to bring him back from the dead. We need Ronald Reagan now more than ever. Is there not one leader among us, willing to take on the responsibility of leading this country back to freedom and greatness?. I fear we do not have another presidential term left unless there are dramatic changes.
Ronald Reagan; A truly Honorable Man..!
The mask has come off the democrat/proggies they ARE communists, no doubt about it anymore.
If you vote for ANY democrat you are voting for communism, period.
Reagan had balls, Obama is a eunuch!
We have “only” ourselves to blame for this mess:
This quote came from the Czech Republic. Someone has it all figured out. It’s sad that most of the people of the US don’t.
“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.
The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Happy Birthday Mr. President. You are deeply missed.
…………..unless "Progressives/Populists are doing the writing!
As human beings sometimes we feel that our contribution's in this life will go unnoticed .If you happened to vote for this great man, YOU changed the world. Thank God for Ronald Wilson Reagan!
The good thing about the Obama concept of government is that ('big or small" ), it is not working and hopefully a man with a different definition will soon be in the White house.
Andy, in 1976, I was middle class.
By 1980 I was on the compo line (double digit inflation, unemployment and interest rates) and EX-middle class.
By 1984, I was back to being middle class.
The only class that 'Ronny' screwed was the ruling class of the USSR.
Careful with that kind of statement. You will be branded a radical like me…………
Perhaps, because you saw it in the context of what it is now.
Too late!
And if that doesn't send a chill down your spine…you obviously haven't been paying attention…or your part of the problem in the first place…
and the world is no longer grateful.
Only part of it, Cowboy……
not our part.
That man was so much like Moses. After his initial defeat in '68 he wandered in the wilderness tending sheep, perfecting his approach to government before running again in '80. Maybe that's what we're missing here: Defeat and the regrouping it entails were critical factors in the Gipper's appeal. He had time to formulate an ideology based on years of reflection. What current politician, having hopped from office to office for an entire career and "getting things done" has had this opportunity? Perhaps that is where we should be looking.
The difference between the Carter years and the Reagan years had to be experienced, to be appreciated.
Indeed, the best of the lot.
A similar malaise set in under Clinton.
Yes, Reagan was a good man. Yet, the behavior of some of his subordinates back then, Like Ollie North, was disgusting. Reagan's terms reminded me of a favorite line from "Lawrence of Arabia:" "He isn't perfect!" No one is.
Not "peasants"…
"Citizens"…
Although I do understand your point…and soon, so will the entrenched incumbents…
(I have torches and pitchforks ready, just in case…)

I am a 9-12 Candidate, a Tea Party Candidate, a Conservative Republican Candidate and above all a Candidate of the People!!!
I am running for office to replace Henry Waxman who embodies everything wrong with our political system's corruption and the Democrat party's lust for absolute power.
I believe Taxes are too high, government has grown too large and we must have a strong national defense.

Ronald Reagan was born in 1911 and over the course of his great life he espoused some of the most brilliant political philosophies and as President he defeated the Soviet Union, brought down the Berlin Wall and freed more people from tyranny and oppression than any other human being in the history of mankind. In short, there is a strong case to be made that he was the greatest doer of good in the history of the world.
Reagan believed unwaveringly in American exceptionalism and the promotion of individual liberty. Now is our chance to reignite the spirit of freedom that Reagan believed in that changed the world forever.
Please join us this February 6th 2010 for the Ari David for Congress largest one-day online donation event. They enjoy losing…
As long as they think its all about the pork, we'll never get it back…
Remember all the incredulous tones the LSM was using when they saw all the people along the funeral route…?
The first indications about just how important RWR was to the Nation…
The older we get, the smarter he becomes.
(and the more we miss him)
Wait until the Obama malaise sets in.
Reagan spent to re-build the incredibly decimated military, and of course, your team did what it could to pinch off money for their dumb projects, too…
And THANK GOD he helped smash the Soviet Union up; so the statist Prog governments in Central and South America can't be any more nuisance than they already are…and what happened in Honduras, pinhead? Guess the people didn't want a "Workers Paradise" there, huh…
Don't concern yourself too much about the muj/taliban/jihadist latest incarnation of the caliphate…you probably think they're oppressed or something…at least your kind did WAY BACK then…the adults will fix it for you.
Even the Obama high and most holey had to catch on…by the way, has Gitmo been closed yet, and the wars shut down…?
I mean, your Barry was big on doing that, right…his own personal windmill to tilt at, right…?
[...] [...]
I so feel for you poor folks that live in Illinois now…that branding over corruption and graft, ballot stuffing, the Dimocratic "Machine"…
Keep fighting, people…its gonna take time…but all of you can do it; I have confidence in you…
My thoughts as well. If the internet existed then as it does today the momentum President Reagan started would have continued because the liars would have been exposed for the scum that they are. This country would have been much better off and stronger than it is now. Clinton nor BO would have stood a chance.
Right……… and there was no yellow cake found in Iraq either…. dolt!
What he said…
Steady up, my friends…
I went in during Carter…and I remember when useless turds would stuff a towel under their door and fire up a bowl…right there in their rooms…
I had to rely on those larva in the field…
A lot of those larva are running government, now…
Time to broom it all out….
Yep.
I remember. I used to love those guys. We'd torture them to death (figuratively) in the field.
Hey…!
I WANT a part of that, too…!
Palin…
Its yours!
Happy Birthday President Regan. God do we miss you. Please watch over us and help us from above. Amen
If you had bothered to refresh the web page you would have found you original post went through. If you had bothered to challenge your text books, teachers and the MSM you would have learned the truth about President Reagan and we would be wasting our time trying to indoctrinate you. Now go read something other than what your syllabus from your public school directed you to read. Try; Reagan, A life in Letters; or Exit With Honor by William E. Pemberton; or a short article from NRO, William F. Buckley Jr on Reagan found here; http://www.nationalreview.com/flashback/buckley20... : or The Reagan I Knew by William F. Buckley Jr. Then come back here and start over.
