There simply is no other way to explain the statements of White House Chief of Staff Jacob Lew this morning on CNN's State of the Union. Lew was asked by Candy Crawley about a recent statement by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid indicating he would not be bringing a...

"No, That's Untrue!", Supreme Court Judge Alito said it best!
Let's remember our explorers… America needs more dreamers and explorers..
Check out the new version of "Mmm Mmm Mmm Barack Hussein Obama" at: http://www.myspace.com/rogerweber
You'll get a laugh!
Get governement out of the way of private exploration of space. We'd have bases on the moon by now if space flight wasn't monopolized by NASA.
I will never forget that day, I lived in Florida then and me and my 3yr old son stood outside to watch the lift off.. I remember the big puff and the smoke trails, running in to my home in time to hear the news saying their was a "Major Malfunction" and me blurting out to my wife, "Major Malfunction my a++ it just blew up" !!! Damn shame as it set us back 10 years !!
I remember the sad event. Reagan gave a terrific speech in memorial to these 7 brave souls.
We could send the progressives to Mars, that would get the private business moving at light speed to get their .. Once we had them all on mars we could shut down the mars program and try for other planets lol !!!
Yeah it was a great speech and heres the vid.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JKIZ7j20EA
Thanks for the link. I really miss President Reagan.
The country needs another Reagan now.
Yeah we need about to fill both house's with Reagans !!!
I like this memorial speech the best !

I remember that day, remember where I was. I also remember Ronald Reagan's Memorial Speech.
Nothing more needs said.
How dare Obama dis the hard working people that gave us the power to be great! Between him, and Pelosi, wanting to freeze money on the military, these two should be impeached!!!
I heard that the NASA base is going to shut down totally this year. I don’t know what to believe anymore.
This moment of death photo is still painful to look at. It should remind us who the real heroes are.
The Challenger ‘tragedy’ is a clear case of incompetent and arrogant management, who knew next to nothing about the science of the operation, overriding the judgment of those who did. It is truly disturbing to see the same management style running our nation today.
The Challenger tragedy is a great analogy for those who supported the disaster known as obama. Such high hopes, and lofty intentions, all destined to explode in a fiery plume of smoke and debris.
It's still not too late to "abort the mission" by taking away his congressional majority in Nov 2010. We've just GOT to make sure ACORN and SEIU don't muscle the election away from The People. One Citizen; One Vote.
Register as an Independent. Then, volunteer or get hired to be a poll watcher at your local polling place to make sure with your own eyes that there are no shenanigans. Bring a video camera and record EVERYTHING. Prepare to make a stink if you see anything fishy. Challenge those who break the law.
If this event had been mentioned in his State of the Union address, the president would have said something along the lines of, "Bush did it!"
It was a stretch, but you managed to tie Obama to the Challenger disaster. Well done…
Yeah, it has worked so well for us in privatizing the Iraq war. We need more tax payer dollars drained out of the space program. Hessian astronauts?
No No No!!! Conservatives for MArs
Liberals and Progressives for Venus(erial Disease)
Walking away from space exploration is exactly what the Chinese did when they abandoned their exploration of the Pacific after apparently having discovered the New World; we know what became of them after that – 200+ years of foreign hegemony and occupation instead of maintaining themselves as a global power.
Abandoning the cutting edge of space exploration, with all its discoveries that have unlimited economic applications here on earth (the microchip, for example, and nano-technology in the future) puts us at the mercy of launch-capable countries that can withhold that from us when we really need it.
And that doesn't even begin to consider what riches may await daring countries on the Moon and beyond.
Very short-sighted and intended to use the "savings" to perpetuate social programs with virtually no tangible return.
Tragic for our children's futures.
I remember the day well. I was at an AF installation as a shift supervisor. All we were told was to dismount our tapes and classify them. After my shift I came home turned on the TV and saw it. I knew then why we saved the tapes….such a tragedy but that is the danger in space travel. Reagan handled the situation with honor and dignity and a sincere sense of loss.
The first time I had a moment in my life in which I remembered everything because of shocking news, I was five and JFK was assassinated. The second time was the Challenger disaster, and I was 27. Then, of course, there was 09/11.
Meanwhile, Obama is gutting the NASA budget as a fiscal fig leaf for his socialist redistributive agenda. Nice tribute, Mr. President.
This all happened because of a defective O-Ring, a type of gasket. It wasn't rated for the low outside temperatures of that day! What a sad day. I can't imagine Mr Obama saying anything close to Reagan's Memorial speech. And, I heard that NASA is going to shut down totally. Any truth to that. Hello: Rumor Control…come in please.

A lack of perfection is not failure.
That some die is not a valid reason not to fly.
These brave folks knew the risks and took them willingly.
We should respect their choice and honor it by remembering their sacrifice as we push forward in exploration they died engaging in.
Schumer is a d i c k ….
I was at my office downtown and it came across the news…. they had a paper out by that afternoon…

I remember that day. It was a horrible stain on American Space Exploration. My kids were in school that day watching just like many others all around the world.
A sad day. 7 brave astronauts.
I was in class (Naval Nuke Power School) in Orlando, FL.
That morning our class adviser (a known prankster) interrupted class to announce that the Challenger had exploded after takeoff. The entire class thought he was joking and he had to assure us this was no joke.
Sure enough, on our first class break I went outside and the cloud was still high in the sky.
It was like a punch in the stomach.
I was in Freshman biology watching it all happen on a big screen TV my teacher used (with his Apple computer) to put up notes instead of writing them on the chalkboard. I watched it happen live and it has stuck with me through the years.
A punch in the stomach indeed.
I was 14 and was told about this in school. Didn't believe it until I got home to see the coverage on TV.
Reagan's best ever speech was made that night.

Sadly, I remember this event quite clearly. I was 6 years old, watching it on TV. I will never forget. We cannot let this administration squander the advantage in space exploration technology that we have had.
You're right, if business was able to get involved in space exploration we would have bases on the moon and may already have set foot on mars instead of just playing in low orbit.
I was watching the launch through the window of my editor's office in Palm Beach County. It was a cold, crystal clear day – you can see shuttle launches hundreds of miles away.
Part of our view was blocked by a building. When the Challenger exploded it split making a crazy Y shape. We could only see half of the Y and I commented that the trajectory was weird. It wasn't 'til I walked out to the newsroom that I learned what happened.
I was a freshman at a military college. They made an announcement in the chow hall; we all thought it was tasteless joke until we heard the news reports ourselves. Reagan's speech was spot on, and I love the poem High Flight by John Magee.
"Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
I was in high school in Miami and had I not been in a classroom at the time, I would have been able to see the explosion. Right after that class was lunch period and while I was in the drama classroom eating lunch, a kid from my English class came in and said the shuttle exploded. Most of us thought he was joking but he wasn't a prankster; he said it's on t.v. in another classroom. I got up and ran into this other classroom, which was packed with students around a t.v..
The worst day America had during my lifetime, until 9/11/01.
I think the Challenger tragedy is a great analogy of what would have happend to America and our Constituion if McCain/Palin had been elected and the fascist agenda continued for another four years … Thank God for the million upon million of christians who voted to keep America free and out of the hands of the corporations and the fascists … you'll never take over America … we know you are inside out beloved walls of freedom and all enemies of the state will be watched … just like this website
Well, its official…
The left is now on a full-court press since the Obama has started down the slippery slope…
Suffer not under the thumb of trolls…or tyranny…
Be ready on the minute…and keep your powder dry…
I was working in a law office in downtown West Palm Beach that day. We all rushed outside into the street to look at the gigantic plume of smoke. It hung in that cloudless sky like a tombstone. All of us, men and women alike, were choked with emotion.
While I regret what happened to them and agree that they were brave people, I don't know that they fit my definition of heroes. That seems like a bit of a stretch to me.
