I read your article. In fact I've hot six or seven links to it in my e-mail box sent from other blogger friends who believes this somehow proves that climate change has ended. We see this kind of thing every time we have a cold winter in North America.

I have heard scattered predictions that we are entering a cold period. The truth is we have been in a cold period and we should not be seeing rising temperatures. Climate change theory does not suggest that natural weather cycles will stop occurring, only that heat will be added to that natural cycle caused by anthropogenic global warming. It would be a very good thing if we really are entering a natural cooling period. It would buy us some time to try and reduce the carbon we are releasing into the atmosphere.

CO2 is still a ticking time bomb. We are pumping 28 billion tonnes of CO2 gas into the atmosphere every year and it has a cumulative affect due to the physical properties of the molecule. Some of the carbon released by the coal we burn today will still be with us at the turn of the next century. When the natural cycle does turn warm we will be in danger of runaway greenhouse effect that could threaten human society in a very short period of time. There are greenhouse gases far more powerful than CO2 sequestered in the ocean and under Arctic ice that will change our world for thousands of years.
