Wonder where "Global Warming Al" is? Hibernating maybe?
So the planet is getting so hot from the "millions of degrees at the core" and the radiation being trapped in atmosphere from all the high CO2 levels that we now have record cold and snowfall across the board….
What a crock of sh*t, where is Al "baby" Gore to explain the record cold temps? Is he enjoying himself in his NON GREEN energy efficient home that uses more electricity in one month than the avg family uses in a year? Or is he flying around in his private jet increasing more pollutants into the air? Oh I know I know he is on his way to a book signing in his gas guzzling SUV where anyone who attempts to simply debate him escorted out right!
Huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh uhoh I just increased the CO2 levels.. sorry…
STOP playing their game and start playing your game through Saving the Republic
Big Government Editorial Panel thank you for the sweet and timley track from Louie and Ella.
'An Inconvenient Truth' makes great kindling.
I just love how record cold still equals global warming in the mind of the idiots…
1. Scientists desperate to hang on to their government funding
2. Politicians desperate to control everything
3. MSM hacks that are so indoctrinated into the Leftist view of the world that they stopped reporting the actual news and turned to activist reporting.
4. People that blindly follow because of the time served in the public indoctrination centers (aka public schools)
Not one of the above types will admit that climate change is natural and that the sun has much to do with our climate. We are heading into a natural period of cooling yet the clowns that desperately want to control our lives still play Chicken Little and run around yelling man-made global warming.
So, nobody gets fired over the Christmas day bomber. But. let a Navy SEAL give a Terrorist a fat lip and he gets a Court Martial? Who are we protecting?
So what we have here is… "An Inconvenient Cold Snap!"
Oh, Albert, wherefore art thou, Albert?
Our pool [above ground 12x20] is frozen over. ~1/2" of ice. That usually doesn't happen to Saints fans!
The climate has not been cooling for eleven years. It has been warming at about the same rate as we have seen since 1980. None of your "real scientists" do climate science. When they are not denying climate science, they are denying that tobacco cases cancer, or that there are transitional fossils. They are all the same guys.
So you know the mind of god and scientists?
I doubt it…
Where did you find these talking points? Heritage Foundation? George Marshall Institute?
What we have here is winter. Remember when you were in science class learning about how god created the world in seven days? And then later the teacher had to admit that the seasons were actually caused by the tilt of the earth… that was a hard pill to swallow.
Winter, brought to you each year by the laws of physics… occurring just as predicted by climate change theory.
It is pretty chilly in North America this week. But most of the global heat is sequestered in the oceans and that has not changed just because there is three feet of snow in Buffalo.
Don't confuse weather with climate. It's disingenuous and ignores a lot of climate science. But then, I guess that is the whole point of your misleading post.
I walked the dog at 6 a.m. in jog pants and shirtsleeves. It was brisk, but comparably warm next to what the rest of the country is suffering thru. Tee hee. I so rarely get to say that.
Where am I? Majestic mountains wrapped with snow to my South. Wildly ebbing and flooding waters to my North. Needle to my East. and. A not so placid ocean to my West.
So this is the reprieve in the march towards the flood eh? Well if that is true, you had better hightail it from FL. Did you miss the fact that most of FL is barely above sea level and basically everything S of Lake Okeechobee was basically underwater until we siphoned out the water and replaced it with fill?
Time to pack up the Tommy Bahama wear and the bug juice and head N. Back home I would presume.
I heart El Nino.
Wow! What an amazing rebuttal chocked full of facts. Care to try again with some logic this time?
Interesting, I was thinking about when I drove through the south Georgia coast blizzard of 1989, about 21 years ago. Anecdotal, but bears further investigation.
You need to ease up mik. I believe 99.99% of the people on this site would go to the macro statistics before believing/denying Global Warming. Have fun with it. How about telling a joke about two "deniers" looking at a snowman.
As a guy who has spent a fair amount of time sniffing through the climategate e-mails purely for what smells like bullshit, I would have to say that there is a lot of CYA "science" contained within.
No, I am not a climate scientist, or any other kind of scientist at all, just a guy who has a finely honed bullshit detector.
To me, science is never "settled", and not having a set of standards that everyone uses to do reach their conclusions smacks of of a pre-ordained conclusion looking for research to prove it.
The money involved in this is astronomical, and the possibility of using this scare tactic to redistribute the wealth of the developed world to the non-developed world is more than documented.
The United States passes out more money to developing countries than anyone else on the planet, and yet the AGW types want yet more, to assuage their guilt for enjoying a standard of living quite beyond anywhere else.
My plan for combating this fantasy problem would be to:
1. Withdraw from the UN, and throw the lot of them off of US soil completely. (Which would cause the collapse of said organization within 5 years, and would eliminate a world-wide corruption machine)
2. Open up the permit process to building nuclear plants in the US, a proven way to produce power that is not dependent on off shore resources.
3. Fast track the upgrading and addition of extra oil refineries here in the US. (Drill, baby, drill)
4. Let America do what America does best, innovate without government constraint.
The result of my simple plan creates jobs, lowers prices of energy, and allows us to be independent of those who would do us harm, all without increasing taxes.
Without the heavy hand of government choking the greatest economic engine in the world.
God created science……
I'm curious, post the link that points to most of the global heat…ocean. I spent a few years in a weather office and I would like to read it.
Where is ALWHORE? Has anyone read if maybe that FROZEN item stuck in a certain Nashville driveway might be ALWHORE? Can you imagine this headline-ALWHORE FOUND FROZEN IN THE DRIVEWAY OF HIS NASHVILLE HOME.?
Human minds have evolved to think in terms of human-time. Days, months, seasons, years, lifetimes.. it has served us well as human society and infrastructure have evolved to a point where we can support 6 billion people.
Today that infrastructure is threatened by man-made warming. A very big pill to swallow given the limits of our ability to accept big numbers. What is a part per billion? And a trillion… forget it. Most of us can't balance our checkbooks.
To compensate for our inability to think of large numbers or see past the limits of our telescopes, we invented the scientific method. Through the magic of mathematics and experimental science we began to "see" impossible things… wonderful things. It led to innovation and technology that makes modern life possible.
And somewhere along the line we began to see signs that all of this wonderful technology has unexpected consequences. The messengers were the same scientists who applied that scientific method to make the fun stuff. But now the news is bad, and we don't like bad news. In the "good old days" we could declare the messenger a heretic and put him to death (burning at the stake preferred)… problem solved. But the liberals of today won't stand for that, so we have to find new ways to silence the heretic. Sadly, we live in a democracy so we can't just rise up and force our will on people, so we turn to disinformation and propaganda. If we can't kill the bast-ards, maybe we can discredit them.
That is when we ran into another sticky wicket. We have been teaching this scientific method to school children for a hundred years now and people know stuff. We tell them that scientists are wrong and they ask for proof. We tell them they are evil liars and people just scratch their heads and think we have lost our minds.
Fortunately, not everyone was influenced by the science lies. So we formed a group and call ourselves Tea Party Patriots. A harmless sounding name, very American. Then we take to the streets and begin to scream, "You lie". We come up with a strategy to deny, deceive, confuse and distort. There are not enough of us to stop the science with our votes, but if we believe hard enough, and if we scream loud enough, perhaps we can confuse people into not supporting public climate policy.
Sometimes in the dark of night we grow fearful… what if we are wrong? What if we are heating up our planet and will someday soon reach a point where the warming can't be stopped in time to prevent terrible consequences? So we head out to biggovernment.com and find others of like minds who have done lots of internet "research". They ease our troubled minds and remind us that god loves us. And so what if global warming is happening… it's not our fault. And we are going to be dead in a few years anyway.
Oh by the way ALWHORE-didnt you once say “the planet has a fever”? ALWHORE must be suffering from the BIRDFLU that was supposed to kill us all and never materialized. Sort of like ALWHORES iq, which still hasnt materialized.
It’s funny how the devout statist idealouges are clinging to their global warming hoax. The northern hemisphere is experiencing the coldest “weather” in twenty-five years as the leftist ninnies attempt a pivot to their latest hysterical mantra “climate change.” We’re told not to conflate weather with climate, unless of coarse the weather proves their point. The real inconvenient truth is, man has “zero” control of climate, and when this wonderful blue orb is done with mankind, we will simply go away, and planet earth will still be here.
Michael Steele. Anyone tired of that arrogant jerk besides me?
Time to boot him. But who should replace him?
Republicans need to figure out their platform and find the right person to articulate it. Who WHo WHO?
I hate to be a purist but….
While "Baby It's Cold Outside" may be on the LP of "Ella and Louis Again", it is not on the Verve DVD.
The record being played is on the DVD "What a Wonderful World" Louis Armstrong in Concert and the
female is listed as Velma Middleton.
Still a great number.
Take your meds.
All of them:
1. Scientists have dedicated their lives to finding the truth. To risk their professional credibility for a few research dollars would be foolish and against their self interest.
2. Politicians in a democratic republic are also motivated by self interest. To keep their jobs they must reflect the will of their constituents. Power grabs for the sake of power are counter productive and rarely produce the desired results (Right Mr. Nixon?)
3. This is just total crap and doesn't merit a response.
4. People are smart, and Americans are among the smartest people in the world. They can be influenced by propaganda, but eventually they will sort out the truth and come together to support policy that to meet social challenges.
The sun has always heated our planet. So it is the first thing any researcher must discount when trying to explain sudden warming trends. We have used satellite technology to measure solar output since 1979 and the effort has produced reams of data. That data has shown that the output of the sun has not changed in any appreciable amount over the past 30 years… a time period where we have seen the most rapid global temperature increases.
REPORTERS JOIN AL GORE ON A GLOBAL WARMING FACT FINDING MISSION
Al Gore and a team of his best Global Warming experts lead fact finding mission into Florida.
Al Gore pointing at a herd of elk in the near distance states, "We would all be able to see the effects of Global Warming on that herd of Florida elk if it weren't for this damn snowstorm."
Wherever Al is, let's hope he stays there.
More often than not, when Al shows up, the temperature drops another 20 degrees or so. AKA the Gore Effect.
To quote the definition from the urban dictionary website :
"The phenomenon that leads to unseasonably cold temperatures, driving rain, hail, or snow whenever Al Gore visits an area to discuss global warming. Hence, the Gore Effect."
Why even bother to post if you don't have something of substance to say? You are not responding to some personal insult. This post was well thought out and heart felt. If you don't agree then bring it on. That is why we are are here.
This is pretty fun Mike…
Two climate deniers are walking down the street in Phoenix one hot summer day when suddenly it begins to snow. "How could this be?", the smart one asked. "Ignore it", said the handsome one. "It's all a liberal plot".
Thanks. I got a smile.
BTW, I've lived in FL on the water for over fifty years. I've watched the water on the same seawall for during those fifty plus years and haven't seen any change besides the normal tides. Yet I hear about islands seriously flooding in the Pacific. Since water seeks its own level, this personal observation doesn't make sense. Hence, the questions, etc.
Man created god in his image… and then assigned human characteristics to him like jealousy and anger. And then killed anyone who failed to worship him, plunging the western world into a dark age of fear and ignorance. But hidden inside the temple were a small group of scribes who kept a spark of knowledge alive. Over time that spark ignited into a raging flame that could not be contained in the temple. Hard as they tried, the forces of darkness could not contain the fire, and true enlightenment emerged.
And it was good…
Abstract Goracle- Frozen in Time.
OK. Fair enough. I object to mindless rambling. If you have a point, by God make it.
The global warming shenanigans coming from the Alwhores and the leftist party is all about money, power and control. How else are they going to justify the Cap and Trade Tax? Gore is an idiot to extreme proprtions, not mentioning a laughable joke.
Personally I don't want to see this planet's rain forests cut down so a bunch of cows can graze. Those forests provide us with infinite scientific data that we just started to investigate. There is also nothing wrong with trying to clean up this planet as far garbage is concerned that mankind has accumulated, buried and strewn into our oceans. BUT lets get real, we will never influence countries like China, India etc to stop polluting. So why should we pay for what they spew into the atmosphere?
I wonder what will the Gores of the world will say when the Yellowstone Park super volcano erupt's and the ash will change our weather for years? ( It's classified in the red zone by seismologists) You haven't seen cold until that happens. Bottom line: we are but specks on this earth and have no control over what the Sun and Mother Nature have in store for us. The arrogance of it all.
“If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the U.K., I think I’ll delete the file rather than send it to anyone . . . ” ~ Phil Jones (University of East Anglia)
Yup. Gotta love those "real scientists" …
A conservative is about stewardship, not panic. We have seen this same tired scenario played out more than once, cooling will kill us, warming will kill us. Well kiddies, the one true thing that will kill us all eventually is breathing, yep breathing, because once you start, you can't stop without dying.
The arrogance of the AGW/climate change/earth firsters is that they think they have some kind of control over what happens on the planet. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Do we need to practice stewardship and conservation?
Yes, but not at the cost of plunging the world into a redistribution induced poverty, for the sake of your mother the earth.
Your mother, the earth, doesn't even recognize your existence, you bunch of Gaia worshiping, tree hugging, granola eating, volvo driving, birkenstock wearing, whiny-assed little bitches.
Get over yourselves.
So who do you work for, I ve seen your posts enough that you are what is referred to as a troll, but worst off a liberal troll! So who are you working for BHO, Mediamatters, Soros himself, Al'baby'Gore?
'The climate has not been cooling for eleven years. It has been warming at about the same rate as we have seen since 1980. None of your "real scientists" do climate science.'
Both of those "quotes" are lies. Anyone who repeats them are wrong, the leftisit technique of repeating lies over and over ubtil they are 'fact', does not work here at Big Government.
I hope your last paragraph wasn't directed towards me, because I'm not any of those things. I love the smell of the forest but I don't tree hug. There is a video showing the extremists crying over a dead tree ( whole bunch of them) MEN included. Sooooooooo the behavior is not exclusive to women only.
If you are interested in me just click on my name. I've posted a little bio and a link to a little family website.
I will try harder…
The World is experiemcing one of the harshest winters in the last century and a half this is becoming clearer everyday.
Well here is something to chew on for all the global cooling deniers out there. Real scientists will tell you, by far the largest factor in the earths temperature is the Sun. For all the IPCC worshippers that would be that big bright thing in the sky. Anyone who has seriously studied the sun knows it generally runs in eleven year periods of solat activity called .Schwabe cycles. Essentially it is solar as well as volcanic activity that ultimately coltrols the earths temperature.
As real scientists will tell you, there has been a slight cooling in the climate for the past eleven years, this cooralated with a
Frankly I'm sitting here in fl soaking up the cold. God and Scientists know cold is going to be in short supply in the coming years. Get and save all you can now tomorrow will be too late.
Not directed at you at all, I was referring to the eco-weenies that like to stop by and troll.
Nothing but respect for you,copperpeony
Sorry if it appeared otherwise.
I live in the west Texas desert and haven't lived near the water since college. But I've seen some weird things around here that have gotten some notice. Like my wife gets anxious to plant every year around the 1st of March, but the conventional wisdom here is to wait until April 1st to avoid a sudden killing frost. That is because we have never seen an April freeze in our local recorded temperature history. That was until 2005. It froze on April 12th and I lost about $400 worth of plants.
There have been some other strange things… like rattlesnakes out biting people's dogs two weeks after they should have been denned up. Just anecdotal things that I've seen around here.
I wasn't quite sure. Thank you.
Harry Reid – criminal and RACIST! RESIGN NOW "DINGY" HARRY, RESIGN NOW!!!
WASHINGTON – The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama's race during the 2008 presidential bid.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described then-Sen. Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no N*e*g*r*o dialect." Obama is the nation's first African-American president.

In AD 1000, the Earth was experiencing an episode of climate warming similar to that of the present day. Temperatures in many parts of the world seem to have risen by at least two or three degrees Fahrenheit. Although the scale of this "global warming" may seem small, its effects on human societies were profound. In Europe, several centuries of long hot summers led to an almost unbroken string of good harvests, and both urban and rural populations began to grow. These centuries are known as the Medieval Warm Period. One of the more dramatic consequences of the Medieval Warm Period was the expansion of Viking settlements in the North Atlantic. From their Icelandic base (established in AD 870), the Norse people began to move west and north to Greenland, Canada, and eventually above the Arctic Circle.

can anyone say Tent Lott … Oh that's right .. it's a democrat talking about a democrat !!!!
The whole agenda behind the Health Care Reform Bill, is not better health care, the real purpose is to transfer people’s hard earned money to the power elite in DC and big corporations, The working poor will be obligated by force of law to buy health insurance they do not want and cannot afford or pay a fine and go to jail. Medicare will be slashed which will turn Seniors into second class citizens when it comes to health care. The whole bill is a huge tax on the middle class with no concomitant benefit. The Bill is riddled with back room dirty deals that maggot like politicians who feed on the body politic are hatching under the cover of darkness. The polls already show the majority of the pubic are against this bill. Remember the draft? that wasn't even a universal mandate. This Bill will impoverish Americans and turn them into slaves of State. The Democrats who are ignoring the will of the people all must go. They are all scum and should be driven out of office.
Al Snore has kept his mouth shut for about a month, hence, the world experiencing cooler temperatures.
Prove man created God…Prove God doesn't exist…Your story would make a fair fantasy novel…but surely not a best seller.
I will give you some credit here…Human mind are not able to grasp the infinite universe … That is correct…so how is it you also discount the existence of a Supreme Being…that does not require religion…you base everything on the imperfect human mind….that you so correctly relate is able to be decieved by others and coersed by force..even scientist must eat…The Tea Party Patriots only wish to open up the debate and find the truth because as you said….we are smart enough to make up our own minds…most people here are responsible adults and can handle admitting we are wrong…but we are also angered when we cannot even speak without being slandered and defamed … If global warming is proved to be caused by man { which it has not been }, I would rather the people of this great country to have the FREEDOM and resorces to act accordingly , not have it redistributed by the U.N.
@ DisneyWorld, Orlando Flordia … Al Gore help us !!!!!!
"Due to the weather, Blizzard Beach water park will be closed January 9, 2010. In addition, the 5:15 and 8 p.m. performances of Disney's Spirit of Aloha are cancelled."
I was just having a little fun but it seems like I've scraped off a scab. There is no need to feel threatened by my opinions… they are my own.
The Tea Party Patriots do no science. They seek not to debate the science but to discredit the scientists.
Climate science is hard work. You find yourself risking life and limb to collect data, then stand back while people who cannot possible understand the papers you write criticize and question your integrity. It is a thankless job the the people drawn to it are not motivated by money.
Fairly or not, the Tea Partiers have earned a reputation as science deniers. And well deserved in my opinion. I haven't heard anyone on this list even say, "I'm just not sure". Every comment to me has been that it is a hoax, a lie, mistaken science, intentionally distorted science, and even an international conspiracy to usher in the new world order.
The Tea Party is a political movement that is dedicated to the denial of climate change. There is just not much to debate with them because they are not rational actors. There minds are made up.
That said, my mind is made up too. But it is a position that continues to evolve with the science. And the first time a legitimate climate scientist comes forward with evidence that shows the theory is wrong, or the first time one of the predictions made by climate change theory is proven false then the whole thing crashes like a house of cards. I take nothing on faith, not spiritually or in the physical world. I need proof.
it's 8 degrees in OKC on its way to a whopping 28 degrees..
Which ones are wrong?
Wintry mix in Sarasota County FL according to radar from Tampa on weatherchannel.com
Where's Global Warming when we need it. /-)
IT'S SO COLD….
Today I saw a Democrat with his hands in his own pockets.
It's all around you Mike. Remember that climate change theory predicts extreme cold weather too.
Negative 7? Geez, can't a brother get some climate love in this place?
1. Debunked
2. Guys get old and give up the good fight… happens to us all, eventually.
3. I never said they weren't biased. I was responding to the hateful tone of the post.
4. I don't know how you can possible know how many people there are who voted for Obama that now wish they had not. We are just going to have to wait three more years to find out.
Weren’t temperatures warmer than today during the “Medieval Warm Period”?
Filed under:
This is one of a number of popular myths regarding temperature variations in past centuries. At hemispheric or global scales, surface temperatures are believed to have followed the “Hockey Stick” pattern, characterized by a long-term cooling trend from the so-called “Medieval Warm Period” (broadly speaking, the 10th-mid 14th centuries) through the “Little Ice Age” (broadly speaking, the mid 15th-19th centuries), followed by a rapid warming during the 20th century that culminates in anomalous late 20th century warmth. The late 20th century warmth, at hemispheric or global scales, appears, from a number of recent peer-reviewed studies, to exceed the peak warmth of the “Medieval Warm Period”. Claims that global average temperatures during Medieval times were warmer than present-day are based on a number of false premises that a) confuse past evidence of drought/precipitation with temperature evidence, b) fail to disinguish regional from global-scale temperature variations, and c) use the entire “20th century” to describe “modern” conditions , fail to differentiate between relatively cool early 20th century conditions and the anomalously warm late 20th century conditions.
Your concern for the working poor is touching, but your political analysis is nonsensical. There is no motivation for politicians to take on problems that are not immediate concerns of constituents. Political power does you no good when you have been voted out of office, so you had better get to work solving real problems. Sadly, health care reform has become more of a serious issue every year since Republicans were last able to kill it in 1994. They will not prevail this time.
The bill is not perfect but it is a first step. As future problems arise it will be easy to fix. Future Republican congresses will never get the votes needed to repeal it, so they will have to live with it. If they decide to ignore it they will not last long in office.
The draft? Now you have just lost all perspective. Come back to 2010 and stay focused on health care.
Oh my god that was funny… see, you took Al Gore's name and replaced the G with an SN and made a funny word. Very clever.
Just as climate change theory has predicted!
Those climate scientists are scary smart.
1. Climate change emails.
2. How many announced they weren't running THIS WEEK ?
3. Only in your slanted view would you not consider the MSM un biased.
4. That may be true, if you consider people who voted for obama and wished now they didn't.
But a lot cannot name their Senators names or the Vice President.
I love how "global warming" has conveniently become "climate change." Telling, that.
Not as telling as your obvious unfamiliarity with the climate change literature. The nomenclature is addressed in the first couple of pages of the First Assessment Report of the IPCC… in 1990.
It is cold outside, isn't it Stan? But here is an inconvenient truth. Only 29 percent of the earth's surface is covered by land. The rest is covered by water. Water that acts like a giant heatsink that absorbs heat, moves it around and then gives it up according to the laws of physics. So you see Stan, our little corner of heaven may be frosty cold while most of the planet is still warming. Warming from the greenhouse effect that is being exacerbated by anthropogenic global warming.
Plus, remember it is winter in the northern hemi… climate change theory predicts it will happen every year about this time. (ok, I made that part up)
Michelle Bachmann still loves him: "Michael Steele!, You be da man. You be da man."
I see the trolls are out tonight with their sarcastic and rude
remarks that they claim are fact..Liberals repeat their
LIES so much they start to begin to think what they
say is true…Same goes for the Liberal Professors they
listen to, or the Liberal literature they read…They have no
real conception of what is true or false!!…I ignore them
when they answer any of my posts, because I agree
with Michael Savage, "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder".
Maybe when I finish Glenn Beck's book, Arguing With
Idiots I'll feel differently…I doubt it though!

You can learn about climate change and heat transfer straight from the guys at the University of Washington who conduct climate research.
Not what I expected. It did lead me to a few interesting post though.

"Sadly, we live in a democracy so we can't just rise up and force our will on people, so we turn to disinformation and propaganda. If we can't kill the bast-ards, maybe we can discredit them."
Yeah, I understand the context in which you were using this. That is what makes it all the more hilarious. I think the psycho-babblers call it "projection". Honestly, you remind me of one of my closest friends. You are SO convinced! I know, I know – I am simply not well informed! I only read things that reinforce my own biased tendencies as a way of reassuring myself and propping up my horribly low self esteem. The fact that I know my own Wechsler score as well as the results of several other tests I have taken, and having tested ABOVE the 90th percentile in science aptitude (except for 1 year an 87) all throughout my academic career (for those years I was tested – 9 in a row). No post graduate degree (school got boring, all those lib professors, you understand) but was a high achiever in grad-level courses. I work in a technical field in which I have no formal training and somehow the guys who do have that training have a lot of respect for my input. Clearly, I am a dummy or a shill for BIG POLLUTION.
No, I just happen to have reviewed a vast quantity of information on this and other topics and I find the evidence for AGW/climate change to be greatly lacking. I am skeptical precisely because I believe I am very well informed. I am also made very uncomfortable by the fierce advocates of this theory because they want to take radical action that will affect hundreds of millions of lives on what I consider very shaky evidence. The biggest advocates of this theory and the policy changes they want implemented also seem most likely to be unaffected negatively by those policies, or in Al Gore's case, profit to a tune of tens of millions of $$$.
You are right to bring up large numbers. It is another aspect of the debate that skeptics embrace. Humanity is too insignificant to "change" the climate. The average human exhales around 4.4 pounds of CO2 at a concentration of 40-45k ppm PER DAY. There are 6 BILLION of us alive right now. How many hundreds of billions – or possibly trillions of life forms exhale CO2? Plant life requires CO2, and in fact thrives when subjected to concentrations higher than the "average" found in our atmosphere. Some people think deserts are a reflection of a lack of atmospheric CO2 and H2O vapor! Photosynthesis produces oxygen that we need to breathe, and all other animals need it as well. It is called symbiosis. H2O is a far more potent greenhouse gas than CO2 and it is currently IMPOSSIBLE to account for in any computer modeling of "climate". And isn't climate an aggregation and averaging of temperatures taken from a large and diverse cross section of our world? Aren't there a huge number of constantly changing variables all over the Earth that require a scientific accounting to make any model worth a damn? Why has NASA detected warming on the other planets in our solar system that seems to correspond to the warming we observed from the mid 70's to the late 90's on Earth? What accounts for that? We also seem to be in a cooling period now. I am supposed to believe that this is also explained by global warming?
You seem like a sincere, decent person. We would likely get along well enough if we knew each other personally. Please understand that just because I don't believe the AGW stuff, it doesn't mean I am evil or a moron. I am not convinced. I think it more likely that this theory will be debunked in less than 10 years, and possibly less than 5. Thank you for reading this long, rambling and at times, out of focus post.
I posted a detailed response to another post of yours which I hope you read and respond to. Not sure how I missed this one before I did that. I must say, you either know a very large number of people, or you paint with an inordinately broad brush. Do you possess some earned credential that makes your opinion so much more legitimate than the majority of those here? Not to be a jerk, but you come across as rather arrogant without cause to claim superiority.
Best post of the day… thanks Galt
My pleasure. Glad we are both enjoying this so much. FYI – Born at Ft. Wainwright, Basset Army hospital to a retired Air Force officer and a wonderful mother (R.I.P 2008). I wish you health, happiness and much prosperity.
No Galt… I have no special science qualifications. Closest I get is I birthed an MD and Chemistry PhD… but they got the good stuff from their mother. I'm pretty good at reading technical literature. I spent 25 years flying B-1 and B-52 bombers in the Air Force and that made me adept at technical research, at least as it applied to aviation. I did get a weather briefing before each flight, but my weather expertise is limited to having a healthy respect for thunderstorms and learning how to stay out of their way.
I have read everything I could on realclimate.org and even got to meet Eric Steig once in Seattle. The issue never really caught my attention until the IPCC released an assessment report in 2001. I still wasn't convinced but began to pay close attention and joined a couple of blogs. What became very apparent was the people who discounted the science often did so with a hostile attitude that didn't seem appropriate for serious students of the problem. They also didn't appear to be very versed in the literature available to lay people. By the time the IPCC came out with their 4th assessment in 2007 I was convinced.
My arrogance is probably driven by frustration. When I hear people say over and over again that we aren't warming because it is cold in Buffalo, I tend to get impatient. It's a character flaw.
Global warming my butt!!!
My heat pump keeps freezing over and I live in TAMPA!
Well, you're a good guy… and your Dad is a great American.
So, you lean toward, I lean against. Can't disagree with your reasoning in this post, but I still think it will prove to be a bogus theory. My world is populated with engineers (ugh!), chemists, biologists, educators, financial services experts and automotive technicians (woohoo!). My experience tends to the other side. I was bombarded by hippies in college and know a few people who are more fervent than any evangelical I have ever met. I tell my boss that his wife was a hippie in THE 60's and she is now a hippie in HER 60's.
Same reaction to the other side of the coin when it comes to "it's cold! – it's hot! – therefore…" reasoning. Guess I just got exposed too much to one side and sympathize with the other now. Still think the theory is wrong and ripe for debunking. Here is a link from someone you may consider okay based on brotherhood:

The charts and graphs didn't do much for me, and there seems to be a bad typo or disconnect here, but the logic is solid (except the crop yield data – other factors involved?). Food for thought anyway…
Michelle Bachmann can have him.
When it's all said and done, no way it's a hoax. I also don't believe we will find that it is a conspiracy to defraud the people. The most likely scenario as I see it will be that it is happening and we are causing it. The next most likely scenario is that it is happening but we are not causing it. In either of those cases we have big problems to deal with. The final "likely" scenario would be that we misinterpreted the data and it is not happening. A lot of well-meaning scientists will then eat a super-sized helping of crow and be lucky to ever get any kind of research money ever again. And it is just as well because none of us would ever trust their work again.
I think we are going to pass some kind of economic incentive to motivate power producers and others who burn fossils to clean up their effluent…. and we will do it pretty soon. Even if Republicans win control of one or both houses of congress, we are already at a point where no responsible politician can deny what is happening (except Jim Inhofe). If you remember from 2008, even John McCain and George Bush were talking about climate change in terms of public policy.
Gees, we both need to get a life, it's Saturday night… Dad is honorable, Mom was better. I know we could knock back a few beers and have a great time. Mom's only fault was scaring me off from the service. I would have been a Marine, though. Loved Pappy Boyington and VMF-214. Yeah, fiction to an extent, I know. I love Dirty Harry too. My thing is justice, not rules. No doubt in my mind that you are honorable, if nothing else. Thanks for the disconnected chat, I look forward to more in the near future. I had a great day and you were a good part of it! My best…
Hmmm…. You are far more trusting than I. I tend to think your "final" i.e. least likely scenario is the one that will ultimately unfold.
Re: Bush and Mc Cain: Bush always seemed reluctant, and Mc Cain – well, I respect him for the life he has endured, but he seems a bit eager to embrace the politically expedient at times. I assume you have picked up on my anti-authority vibe by now. I like to think it is rational, based on my cumulative experiences. I am a huge skeptic of anything non-concrete or philosophically anti-individual. Perhaps we can trade views more in the future as I am ready to sleep now (check your clock!). My assumption is that you and I would likely be good friends who happen to disagree on the minor things (stuff we can't solve). Good night, God bless and hope to exchange again soon…
The Gorge?
Saltspring?
I don't know, but wherever he is I'm sueing him for fraud. He said that if we decreased our carbon footprints, that we would decrease global warming. Well, I like it warm, being a native Floridian. So, I deliberately increased my carbon footprint. And look where we are. It's been below freezing in Florida every night for at least a week and it's going to 19 tonight. Our high today was 44. 44!!! That's a LOW in Florida, not a gosh-danged HIGH! Liar. I expect to win millions in my suit.
Ahhh…Mik or should I say… Mr. Science – - Not! As water evaporates it also produces CO2 and as we know, water is covering 71% of the earth, I see real danger! : ( Perhaps we should dry up the oceans? I know, we could take liberals and throw them into volcanoes forming giant human corks to save mother earth, I bet we could get volunteers for that one. Or – - why don’t you skip a breath? You could make part of the harebrained democrat platform, “skip a breath for mother earth.” You see Mik, only a liberal has the witless arrogance to believe that man can change the weather/climate. So go shuck your flim-flam with the school children, Mik, and get back under the table in fear! Remember…the sky is falling, don’t you know?
they are your own and wrong… but then…
I can't wait to see what Rush has to say about this one… Go ahead… make my day LoL
I heard a young OBVIOUSLY "MARXIST" on FOX BUSINESS NEWS JUST THIS MORNING, BRAGGING THAT THE COLD/HOT TREND DOESN'T MATTER A BIT, BECAUSE THE MARXIST WON THE BATTLE AND WE'RE HERE!!! GET OVER IT, WE DO NOT DESERVE ANY FREEDOM, ANYWAY!!! WHY? BECAUSE "WE CAN'T HANDLE IT," AS JACK NICHOLSON WOULD SAY!!!
I DROVE THROUGH IT from New York to South East Florida! WOW!!! THE VANITY OF MAN!!!
LOL I was wondering if someone was going to play.
Good guess. Nope. Maybe I should have said… A war is raging to my West. All fur and fang.
Good luck,
WANDA FUCAN!
As I HEARD ON THE FOX BUSINESS CHANNEL THIS MORNING FROM A MARXIST: HOT/COLD SPELL, IT DOSE NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE! WE WON! YOU DO NOT DESERVE ANY "FREEDOM" ANYWAY! As Jack Nicholson would say: "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" AS THE MARXIST MANIFESTO SAYS: LIE, CHEAT, DECEIVE, DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO WIN FOR LUCIFER, THE REAL MESSIAH!!!
YES, THE HYDROGEN BOMBS COMING WILL DO JUST WHAT YOU SAY, SO BEND OVER AND KISS IT GOOD-BYE!!!
My first thought was Seattle, or Bremerton Washington?
Victoria somewhere….
~ Laughs – getting closer.
- WANDA FUCAN!!
Lol.
Yeah, you're probably right. I had a kitchen pass with the wife out of town and it seemed like a good way to kill some time without having to get out into the cold. Now I've created this monster with lots of nice people writing to me and I don't want to leave them hanging.
I was describing (tongue in cheek) human events in history. It is up to each of us to interpret the events and decide if they were guided by the hand of god or the hand of man.
I sense a human presence.
You are yelling vic… take off the caps lock and join the conversation. You don't want people to get the impression that you are just an angry knucklehead.

I read your article. In fact I've hot six or seven links to it in my e-mail box sent from other blogger friends who believes this somehow proves that climate change has ended. We see this kind of thing every time we have a cold winter in North America.
I have heard scattered predictions that we are entering a cold period. The truth is we have been in a cold period and we should not be seeing rising temperatures. Climate change theory does not suggest that natural weather cycles will stop occurring, only that heat will be added to that natural cycle caused by anthropogenic global warming. It would be a very good thing if we really are entering a natural cooling period. It would buy us some time to try and reduce the carbon we are releasing into the atmosphere.
CO2 is still a ticking time bomb. We are pumping 28 billion tonnes of CO2 gas into the atmosphere every year and it has a cumulative affect due to the physical properties of the molecule. Some of the carbon released by the coal we burn today will still be with us at the turn of the next century. When the natural cycle does turn warm we will be in danger of runaway greenhouse effect that could threaten human society in a very short period of time. There are greenhouse gases far more powerful than CO2 sequestered in the ocean and under Arctic ice that will change our world for thousands of years.
