In April 2009, the Department of Homeland Security published an “Assessment” of the threat of Right-Wing extremism. One section identified returning military veterans as a particular danger:
DHS/I and A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists—including lone wolves or small terrorist cells—to carry out violence. The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today.
Meanwhile, two detainees released from Gitmo plan an attack culminating in a situation where an individual on the terror watch list, whose own father has reported to US officials, gets a visa to visit the United States, purchases a ticket with cash on the day of travel, takes no luggage, flies without a passport and carries on his body enough explosives to bring down an airplane.

As for the looney terrorist, exactly when was it news that the current security was faulty? It's a complete joke. Every time I fly there is some moron TSA (and yes, I'm sorry to say moron is the best adjective here) that consistently checks dangerous fugitives…. like the old man who can barely walk but he has to be wanded darn it. The grandma in a wheel chair. All the while people who might seem a tad shifty walk straight on through without trouble. And if that wasn't enough, the "security" machines and those who operate are even worse. Smuggling explosives onto a plane isn't exactly hard. Witness how the last few would be terrorists did it. None of them were particularly bright were they?
God help us if we get a smart terrorist.
Now I here they want to try those x-ray machines that basically strip people. That's where I draw the line. I've already had enough of the funny TSA guys that like to "wand" me. There's no way in hell I'm going through one of the machines. If they install those everywhere, I'm not flying anymore period. I'll take a road trip, a boat, walk, anything else. Flying would degenerate from a nice convenience to absolute hell at that point.

What the hell do they expect from returning veterans? Happy feet? Sweetness and light? When one emerges from the hellishness of a war zone, one is bound to be a bit disgruntled when one finds oneself amidst a populace that has been encouraged to circle them suspiciously poking them with sticks to see if they react.
Hollywood has done its worst "educating" the citizenry about the difficulties of re-integrating into daily stateside life. They did their agitprop so well that even ostensibly sober and deliberate bureaucrats spew forth the Koolaid in such policy droppings, to mix a metaphor.
I had transitioned from disgruntled to gruntled following my time in a war zone and was happily enjoying the new found respect afforded to veterans and then this piece of insulting stereotype emerges in a DHS policy document. If disgruntled veterans were not necessarily prone to finding refuge with maniacal militia groups before, this sort of willful categorization may have pushed some to reconsider.
How this BS about returning vets managed to get through what is supposed to be a rational and careful clearance process before public release is beyond me.
She reminds me a LOT of the other Janet we suffered through with Clinton. Why was she never prosecuted/impeached/fired for Waco??

I'm surprised that so many completely accepted the Haskells' statements without skepticism. For one thing it is inconceivable that anyone without a passport would have been allowed on an international flight out of the Netherlands. This in itself should have been a red flag for everyone.
