Though he’s not exactly a household name, Andrew Breitbart has long been a power player in the sphere of Internet influence and opinion. The former editor of The Drudge Report, and lead researcher and developer for The Huffington Post, Breitbart has since set out on his own, creating a number of sites that both aggregate and report from what he describes as a center right point-of-view. When Breitbart provided an exclusive interview with Mediate this year, he revealed big plans to grow his “Big” network of sites beyond Big Hollywood and Big Government (which he launched this Fall.) Big Journalism is set to launch next January, with more to follow in the coming year.
But his Internet empire is only part of the reason behind Breitbart’s story — he was ostensibly behind one of the biggest stories of the year: the hidden camera video that revealed government corruption at worst, or horrible management at best at local ACORN offices. This lead to an end of funding of ACORN and a pretty big indictment of both the government-funded program and the mainstream media outlets that ignored the story as well. Which is why Andrew Breitbart is a member of the Mediaite 50.

I Personally I think BB and the alternate media are just starting to find their legs, once it really takes off the Old Stream Media and Obama will be buying stock in the makers of Pepto-Bismol and Grecian Formula, heck they probably will create some actual jobs for those companies.

My son, an SSG in Army, stationed at Vilseck, Germany in the 2nd Cavalry is home now on leave for Christmas, and he told me that on the Armed Forces TV Network, they used to get Bill Oreilly at noon and Glenn Beck at 8 pm. But the Obama administration has cancelled Fox News entirely and put MSNBC in it's place with Chris Mathews! My son said that Chris Mathews is a stupid hateful anti-american sob and the soldiers are enraged that the Obama administration is limiting what they can see to only channels that are speading Obama's propaganda on tv, and that Fox News is no longer available! Please get this out in the news.

I can't say enough good about it and feel I not only have a voice but that anything I post or send is respected though some might be daft. I wish the WH had the same ability to listen but what can one say about marxists because they know it all. They've had it their way for decades and now it's our turn and they're pizzed about it. Too bad – so sad. Speaking about the WH – I really enjoy the threads from the senators and congress and would encourage more. I write my opinions whether they the listen or not – at least we're getting our say out in the open.

Breitbart and publishers like him are the new Hearsts and Ted Turners of the world. The New Media can provide a better product at a lower cost, and it's those efficiencies which will (already have to a large extent) explode the establishment.
The major newspapers and dinosaur TV news operations are bloated, left-leaning and stupid. Nothing about them suggests viability in a 21st-century economy. Guys like Andrew are the ones holding the rope to hang them with.
And I'll be praying that you read an actual newspaper, or watch a real news show. Acorn has been cleared of wrongdoing (for the last five years anyway) and the investigator said the tapes were edited and voiceovers had been added, making it impossible to tell what was really going on. That is NOT good journalism. Hopefully the young people will be spared from prison, and if Breitbart has any integrity he will go in their stead.
That's awesome news! I work with a lot of veterans, some of whom were in Iraq, and they said Rush Limbaugh and Fox were playing all the time, and a lot of the guys were really sick of them, although a lot of them enjoyed Fox because a lot of the newscasters are hotties, like Gretchen Carlson, who show their panties a lot. Sure enough, I go to youtube, and there are all these videos of female Fox anchors "accidentally" giving beaver shots. So I feel for the soldiers in that regard.

I agree. I've been looking to Breitbart for links to real stories a long time before it was 'popular.' I figured good or bad, Breitbart will report or link to the important news even when our former main stream media refuses to.

How ironic that this article comes out just as Breitbart's Acorn expose has been exposed as a fraud. Acorn seems like it has a lot of problems, but here's a little tip: If you're going to do an undercover sting, don't edit the videotapes and add in voiceovers that prevent viewers from knowing what the Acorn people were actually responding to. Your credibility has been severely damaged. Also, find out if your minions are breaking the law before they do their sting, because now these two young people who trusted you might end up as criminals.
Very few sites I MUST view EVERY day. Big Government and Big Hollywood are mostly it. Keep coming with those BIG Ideas, Andrew.

WE need a major effort to expose this socialist President and Cogress. This President and Congress are corrupt. Biden is corrupt. They vote against the will of the people. They approve govt funded abortions and steal billions and laugh and lie in our face. Obama lies about all he campaigned for and now is the time to fight back and EXPOSE each and every Congress person daily starting with Pelosi and Reid. They will not debate. They hide behind close doors. They lie. They will not hold a press conference to answer questions.
