ACORN Qualifies for Funding in Senate Health Care Bill

Senator Roland Burris is claiming credit for a provision in Harry Reid’s “manager’s amendment,” unveiled Saturday morning, that could funnel money to ACORN through the health care bill…
The provision he cites, found on pages 240 through 248 of the manager’s amendment, requires that six different agencies each establish an “Office of Minority Health.” The agencies are the “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.”…
According to a Senate legislative aide, the scandal-plagued Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now could qualify for grants under this provision. ACORN would also qualify for funding on page 150 of the underlying Reid bill, which says that “community and consumer-focused nonprofit groups” may receive grants to “conduct public education activities to raise awareness of the availability of qualified health plans.”
Earlier this year, Congress passed and the president signed into law a ban on federal funding for ACORN, but a judge ruled that that law was unconstitutional. If a higher court reverses that ruling, ACORN may be prohibited from receiving funds through the Office of Minority Health earmark. But according to the Senate legislative aide, ACORN would still “absolutely” qualify for federal funding through the provision in the underlying Reid bill because the anti-ACORN appropriations amendment would not apply to funds provided through the health care exchanges.

Well, it's not going t happen when they are in control. We try to write to as many representatives as possible, my wife was in Washington at the last rally, we try talking to our neighbors (not a pleasant experience in our bluest of blue states), we avoid state run media, watch old movies, go to the local tea parties, teach our three children what's what, I worked day and night and emptied – really emptied our wallet for Republican candidates, which at least gives us access, which we DO use, – this is what it takes, and more. Money, time and effort.
They ARE convinced the people are stupid – I've heard it right from their mouths – and with the State run media 100% behind them, who is there to do anything about it? OBAMA as much as told the people who support him and the rest not to watch Fox – who else is there?

The language in the bill does not guarantee ACORN squat as what is being manufactured to believe. The final bill HAS NOT passed the Senate yet and it still has to go back into various committees for House / Senate negotiations before the Bill gets final House passage.

ACORN & SEIU are the thugs and lobbying arm of the non profit special interest. Many believe ACORN is using the non profit foundations, but it is truly a mutually beneficial relationship. Tax exempt foundations and the very wealthy non profit chaities cannot lobby, but they certainy give enough to these thugs to do their dirty work and make certain the taxpayers fund all the programs that benefit them financially. Non profit charities can stuff their donations into their endowment funds to grow wealth and power and foundations get lobbyist to direct taxpayer funds to their for profit businesses like the drug companies.
The non profit and tax exepmt are a greater danger to the American people than anyone realizes. Wake up and stop givng a single dime to the national charities, they will only use it to control your life!

Yes! I believe this health care legislation is the absolute greatest Christmas gift to insurance companies imaginable. It accomplishes nothing but guarantees that insurance companies will have 30 million new customers to put the screws to any way they choose except pre-existing conditions. Big woop! Why bother? If they weren't prepared to do a massive and meaningful overhaul than they should have just left it alone. In the end, what they end up with is nothing more than a simple amendment that should have been attached to another piece of legislation as a simple and common procedure.
No party has been given the majority position that the Dems have now based on how miserably the Republicans drove this country into a ditch and what do they do with this filibuster proof congress? They couldn't pass a fortune cookie. The Democrat base is different than the Republican base. The Republican base will stay loyal no matter how stupid and destructive their leaders are (GW Bush, Palin etc.) where as the Democrat base will not remain loyal when they feel their "Change they were supposed to believe in" is not being delivered and their really is no excuse as to why.
It's smart to wait until a midterm election year to put through meaningful legislation to maintain control and minimize election losses. Bush did the same thing in 2002 but this health care debacle is going to cause the Dems some problems in the long wrong. The health care legislation had a positive approval rating until the Senate mutilated it and then the poll numbers on it dove mainly due to progressives who were pissed.
Good Grief, it just keeps getting more corrupt with each passing day! This is like living in a nightmare and being unable to wake up. Unless we all DO wake up, and fast, we are not going to have a Republic left to worry about. Once again the American people are duped. They pass a bill saying, "No more government funding for ACORN… PERIOD", and, of course, ACORN still received much Government money during that time. Now, as we should be pushing for a TOTAL, UNDENIABLE ban of all ACORN government funding, Democrats try to sneak through funding for them any way they can. It's typical. They think American have short attention spans, and some do, but not all of us. They figure the ACORN thing will blow over and they can get back to business: Voter Fraud, Voter Registration Fraud, Funneling money to political allies, helping drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes lie and get loans for housing to run their illegal businesses, etc. At what time in our nation's history have we had a more corrupt group of politicians in control? Decades ago they were doing the same thing, but not on the scale they do now. Now, it's total control and domination or total control and domination… take your pick. ACORN is a huge tool for the new socialist-Democrat. Every issue they use, is also used with scare tactics. Whether it be a false accusation of Constitutional rights, or just flat out fear-mongering on things like Healthcare, Global Warming and the Economy. EVERYTHING is in dire straights, or so they tell us. And ACORN is a huge tool, not just for money and funds, but for spreading that fearful propaganda which we all know is not true. I rather the Truth and common sense solutions, not all out reform of everything we know. Some have problems, but they don't require a complete overhaul. Which is want they want people to believe. ACORN is a mouthpiece for their "reform" which would effectively take control of our lives out of our hands, and give it to the government.
Burris is but one of the dozens of Chicago thugs who will directly or indirectly benefit from this bill. This sorry ass hopes it will buy him votes when he runs for re-election to an office he should never have been handed. After 50 years of "give away" race funding starting with Lyndon Johnson's Great Society scam, what is the country getting for all the money spent? How many generations of minority Americans have been destroyed by this horrible political ploy?
The same people who are complaining about any backlash from this information were probably in line to blame Bush for Natural Disasters, Terrorist Attacks or anything else that happened during his tenure. Voters feel more disenfranchised during the first year of this new administration than they have in a long time. Fact: A majority of democrats voted for the Iraq war. I love to debate. Nothing personal, I just love to debate. It is no coincidence that while the future of Acorn was in doubt, there was a lull in the push for health care reform. Acorn and its partners in the complex structure of election fraud are the Democrats' hope of surviving the consequences of their blatant disregard for the will of the people. As long as they have their election stealing apparatus in place, it doesn't matter if they lose the seniors' votes or any other groups'. They will win in areas where no identification is required and the Acorn community is free to travel and vote as many times as they please and where ever they are told. They will also be there as a means to funnel illegal campaign contributions.
