GAO to Investigate ACORN

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has informed two House Republicans that it will investigate ACORN’s use of federal funds.
The GAO sent a letter to Reps. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, and Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the ranking member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, informing them of its decision. Smith and Issa on Thursday released the letter, dated Dec. 7
“GAO accepts your request as work that is within the scope of its authority,” wrote Ralph Dawn, managing director of GAO’s government relations department.
Dawn also noted that in September, Issa, Smith and 20 members of the Senate, as well as Rep. Rush Holt (D-N.J.), requested the GAO investigation.
Issa applauded the GAO for looking into the ACORN controversy.

The GAO will document what money is being spent where, that's a road map, good lord I wonder what they will find in total.

He was appointed by Bush and they all serve one 15 year term, maybe there is some hope.

Don't hold your breath people… As soon as AG Holder gets involved it will all be squashed! Just remember how he squashed the New Black Panther voter intimidation case.

According to their website Dodaro is only the acting Comptroller, he was appointed to that position by the previous Comptroller and was never appointed by Bush or confirmed by the Senate. I am guessing Obama will appoint his hand picked man now and the Senate would confirm with no problems. I think this position bears some watching by everyone.
For all the complaints about how the GOPers have to grow a spine ( and that is mostly true ), some GOPers really are fighting the good fight. Lets give credit where credit is due ! If it wasn't for Issa and Smith, taking the bit in their teeth and not letting go, even this wouldn't have happened.

We will learn much from this investigation… Not if ACORN is corrupt, that we already know. The real question here is if the recently union infected GAO goes the way of the dark side leaning OMB under yes man Ortzag. I will wait for the results before judging…
Sure, investigate anyone who may be using federal funds fraudulently, but accept the results whatever they are. I'm sure you echo chamber inhabitants will say the GAO is "liberal" or some such label if the results of their investigation don't turn our the way you want.
need a fair and balanced audit from GAO…..perhaps they will ask for Beck to help and bring his chalk board….best tool I have seen lately….just need a calculator, copy of all 300 bank accounts for past 10 years…..copies of all cancelled checks to see where they were deposited/cashed……and copies of all income/donations to see who gave them all that cash……copies of all lawsuit settlements and cash received from banks……balance sheets, cash on hand…………etc etc etc etc etc
They really need to get the FBI involved.

A cynical view, I expect this to go the way of the Justice Dept looking into the New Black Panthers blocking the voting polls. It will get dropped some how. Sorry I just trust nothing from government organizations with this regime in place.

There is a point rckmom. Every mosquito bite we inflict is a nuisance. The more bites, the bigger the nuisance and this is the only hope we have for any investigation. We the mosquitos are breeding faster than their cockroaches and by 2010 we should be a swarm to reckoned with. Hopefully some swarms will carry malaria.

IMO, it's probably too late to catch anything substantial. They've had time to hide anything that'd really cook their goose.
I applaude GAO also. I understand that GAO's hands may be tied by Hussein and his Posse of Clowns however, it's better than having a ACON Token doing its own ivestigation.
Ahh yes, but they recently opened up an investigation to find out why NBPP members were not convicted.

ACORN is a protected group. With this Administration, there will always be a roadblock that keeps that protection in place. If not the Democratic Congress then Eric Holder or even higher. Yes, the only way to fell a tree is one chop at at time. So keep chopping. If the Country survives, then I see a day when all of those corrupt Politicians and News people will pay a price for their complicity. I only hope that I live to see an accounting for my Maryland Representative and Senators.
