Stimulus Checkup: A Closer Look at 100 Questionable Projects
by PubliusThe good folks at Sen. Tom Coburn’s office draw our attention to their latest report on Stimulus spending (published in cooperation with Sen. John McCain’s office). From the introduction:
Over the past ten years, the national debt more than doubled as Congress went on a spending spree—and yet we still find ourselves in the midst of an economic downturn.
Americans who have lost their job, health insurance, or home, are facing mounting personal debts, but are also faced with the question of who will pay off the staggering national debt that has grown by more than $1.4 trillion over the past year.

The federal government must join American families in prioritizing its spending by making tough decisions. When we downplay wasting money on a $6 million project, it is easy to do it again ten more times. Once $60 million is out the door, it is easy to spend another $60 million and before you know it, billions of dollars we do not have are spent on things we do not need. Sadly, this type of spending is excused in Congress because ―”it‘s always been done that way.”
The American people have always rejected arguments based on ―”it‘s always been done that way,” ‖ and will continue to do so. Congress needs to make hard choices and eliminate things that are a low priority—even if doing so is unpopular—so we can preserve this country for future generations.
In the previous report, one hundred questionable projects were identified that did not appear to hold out promise for helping the economy grow. The Administration was quick to review these projects and to its credit addressed a number of them. In the months that followed, many more questionable stimulus projects costing millions and even billions of dollars were identified. This follow-up, Stimulus Checkup, takes a closer look at 100 more projects that raise questions about how stimulus money has been used so far.

Husseins Recovery Act to fraud Taxpayers out of Billion of more Tax Dollars.
In my town they slapped that big sign up and repaved a long road that had been paved the year before. I live in No. Cal. and it doesn't snow here so the roads last for years before they repave. It looked great before they paved it and it was smooth.
This money is being pissed down the drain.

Did you here what Gibbs said about Obama's poll numbers? "WHITE HOUSE SLAMS POLLS: KIDS WITH CRAYONS… " I'm taking my RED Crayon to the polls with me.
How about a stimulus for building some more nuclear power plants. That would create REAL JOBS and SAVE THE PLANET and REDUCE OUR DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN OIL! Bingo…President Obama…just ask the real people for some solutions!
You know I thought my mouth couldn't drop any lower in amazement, but after reading this, I cannot speak anymore!
unbelievable, twilight zone stuff!
Re:"This money is being pissed down the drain" Correction:
OUR Money is being pissed down the drain!
Outrageous!!! How much more crap must we put up with?!?!?!?!?!?! What if all this money were just GIVEN to people, wouldn't that make more sense? Ugh …

West Deptford New Jersey paved 2 roads that were just paved 2 years ago. These roads were just fine while other roads really could use a resurfacing. In the same part of the state, they are now paving interstate 295 again, the roads were fine. I see this as just a waste of money.
I'd like to know how much money they have spend putting up those damn signs!
I love it! They build their cases for reforms on polls, they say that polls showed people didn't want GWBs type of progressiveness (for the Trolls that have suddenly shown up, that was Left lite set up by the Dems in both Houses). Now they're faced with the fact that rabid dog on a day care care school grounds during recess has a better approval rating than Congress & BOs ratings are dropping faster than a Clinton interns panties.

Just keep tuned, it will get worse. These Czars have been given powers to by-pass the Checks & Balances system by not having to answer to anyone but the POTUS, i.e. EPA & the CO2 crap. Many of whom didn't have to be confirmed for their positions & have been given Executive Privilege as not to have them brought before Congress if investigated.
IMPEACH THIS CROOKED CON-ARTIST NOW http://www.impeachobamacampaign.com/
I added up all that WASTED $$$…… $6,924,735,591 !!!!!!!
That's A LOT of MONEY!!!!!!!
Going through that list, I saw NOTHING in there that our Fed Gov is justified in spending our TAX DOLLARS on! That's OUR hard earned money they're throwing around like it's nothing! They have forgotten where that money came from!
That's one of the items on the list…
Totally boggles the mind. How can these people call themselves adults? Absolutely no concept of reality!
This certainly shows us all, the level of contempt they have for the public.
Go home for Christmas -Congress, you are doing nothing good where you are!

oBum is having party after party and inviting all his chums, to feed at the trough of public (our) funds.
Those adverts for Obama aren’t doing him much good, in fact, they think we’re idiots with that ploy, which makes many Americans even madder.
LA Times Ed – “Shocker polls: That Sarah Palin-Barack Obama gap melts to 1 point.”
and…
Obama – 53 last month – now 47%.
Oh, I'm well aware. I haven't seen any numbers yet but this guy has given more speeches, more dinners & taken more trips than any POTUS I can remember That's why I say that he is a mouth piece, not the brains behind this administration. He is too narcissistic, self centered & wants to be told how great he is to be bothered by making decisions. Also, look at his background, he has always been told what to say, what to do, & how to think. He has stated in speeches & in his book, he sought out the professors in college who would tell him what & how to think. He looked for the people who would tell him how & what to think to be his friends.

What's worse, they are getting ready to take unused TARP and put it towards a "jobs" stimulus. I thought that is what this was supposed to be! The money needs to go towards PAYING DOWN THE DEBT.
I have never hated an administration so much in my entire life. They are going to ruin us, each and every one.
I'd like to use that sign for target practice.
I'm very thankful for Senator Coburn and Senator Inhoff here in OK. If there were more like them in office we would be so much better off. Each day, listening to what the liberal, hate and fear-mongering mongrels are doing in our country, is just so frustrating, plus the fact that the regular media is in bed with them. I get a mental picture of a swarm of locusts pilaging through our country and if we don't stop them now, they will destroy everything. There are so many of them and I believe they have been gathering for such a long time. They are all criminals.
I was surprised that the $114M awarded to Harvard University was not in there.

If there were only 100 questionable projects the country would be lucky. I bet the true number is 100 times 100, if not more.
Heyduke, where are you?

I was going to say the same thing, but you beat me to it! Good to see another Okie on here too!
Thank ful for TOM COBURN? He turned his back on over 200 years of American success when voted for the bailouts..and lit the fuse that has bankrupted our country… will you hold him accountable for that???? he is doing his job when points out corruption and nothing more…
As an Oklahoman I have made it known to Mr. Coburn about his vote on that particular item. I am referring to his stance on corruption at this time. I know anyone can make a mistake, its what they do afterwards that shown whether they are men or rats!
A fellow okie..don't worry I still think he running unopposed.no democrat would stand a chance against him and rightfully so….. but he has not held himself accountable..SO I refuse to give him praise.. and lets not forget that drug bill he voted yes on that was not funded or cuts made to accomodate it.. but that bailout thing just burns my hide. but no one will stand against him..
Truthfully, I would like to see an opponent! We need to set our own term limits on ALL of them. Good or bad, they need to be replaced before they get corrupted by the lobbyists and pay-ola rampant in DC.
