There simply is no other way to explain the statements of White House Chief of Staff Jacob Lew this morning on CNN's State of the Union. Lew was asked by Candy Crawley about a recent statement by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid indicating he would not be bringing a...

Never forget that this can happen anytime anywhere in the world, especially when we're all sitting around hoping or praying it won't… but especially when we have our heads in the sands of denial that it's coming.
Thank God for our greatest generation!
How far we have come, you might even say "fallen" in the way this Country responds to threats against our National Security. What happened to us between 7-12-1941 and 9-11-2001 ?
MAybe they should ask Obama to apologize for them.
I still haven't forgiven them…
On a lighter note, here's some photoshop fun for your viewing enjoyment (or to criticize, whichever you prefer)

Please take action to help a Medal of Honor WWII hero, Col. Barfoot. Send an e-mail and/or make a phone call, etc.
They sacrificed so much for us. The least we can do is help them when they truly need it.

Pearl Harbor Day is marked to remember a day the United States took a direct and severe assault from Japan on December 7,1941. Today is December 7 2009, the day our prez is attending a U.N. organized direct and severe assault on the United States… the irony of it all !!
the war to end all wars. thank you to all who gave the greatest sacrafice and all who wore the uniform.
I think with Obama in charge we can do it ourselves, we don't need the Japanese to attack us. He is a light weight who follows failed agendas no matter what. I would like to think differently but more taxes is not the answer. Yes he sent the troops, 75% of the requested number but he does not know how to fire up the troops and shows no inspiration.
Political Correctness and Liberaliam
ACORN happened to us. It's been their intent from day 1.
completely coincidentally, i'm about half way thru Martin Cruz Smith's "December 6". a very interesting look at inside Japan immediately before the war.
Our Greatest Generation saved US, and saved the World from Fascism. For that, we should be eternally grateful. December 7 was a dastardly, surprise attack that set US on a course of war. September 11 was a similar surprise attack, that set on a course of several police actions. There is a difference. WE have won wars, we have never won a police action.
I’m considering that Japan is expressing a great am’t of peer pressure from China right now. In addition, Japan is sensing that America is a weaker nation due to Obama -this n that. Japan is like the “brains” and China is the “brawn”, and united would be quite a threat again.
Let US also not forget the signifigance of today, as it relates to real world politics. Six weeks ago, Obama was slated to be in Copenhagen TODAY, and sigh a Global Treaty, whereby he would cede all American rights of sovereignty to the World Body, essentially the United Nations and their minions. His schedule got changed, the public statements by Lord Monkton notifying thw World, and US of what Obam was about to do on this date, if it weren't for Lord Monkton, Obama would have snuck this through under cover of darkness and signed the Treaty. The Climategate email scandal was a big part of it, that and a letter writing campaign six weeks ago. Little things do make a difference. We must keep the pressure on.
CL – in my referrence to this point I had forgotten he changed his schedule -thanx for the correction
but you couldn't have provided details better, and this is very significant. When he does attend, he will not be there representing the needs our country. He will be there as a man on a religious mission.
Not next year. In 2012.
Pettiness, bickering, control, selfishness, increasing expenses, secret budgets, cronyism and, the hallmark trait, mindless adherence to stupid rules, is the hallmark of a condo or homeowners association.
Sounds like Pres. Ocarter's administration to me.
It's NEVER to late to fix any problem. Now the longer it goes on – the more it's gonna HURT when we do fix it – and a bunch of the teet suckers are going to be the ones that get hurt the most (which is funny, because they are the ones that GAVE us this problem to begin with).
But don't EVER think it's too late to fix the problem. WE can always fix these problems – and the Founders even gave us PERMISSION! (yeah, the libs don't like to hear that part)
Our generation, the sons and daughters of the Greatest Generation will never forget. Our generation grew up with the terms Jap and Kraut. The won't work today. It is a proven fact that the first thing which must be done in winning a war, is to demonize and dehumanize the enemy. Now, we are not at war with sand fleas or dune coons, but fighting police actions against our little brown brethern. With that political correct mindset, we do not have a chance at victory. (Now the foregoing isn't going to set well with most folks here, but it is the cold hard facts).
Patton said he wanted to "kill the bastards by the bushel basket full" in World War II.
McCarthur wanted to invade China during the Korean "Police Action" and do it sooner rather than later. Truman fired him because he was a threat to Trumans political career, as the military and civilian population loved him
If this happened today, Obama and his administration's first reaction would be: We must try to understand why they are so angry with us."
American presidents bow to no one, Mr. Obama.
StlDan
What is even worse is what has happened to us from 9-20-01 till 12-12-7-09 !
History tells us what works and what fails, all we need to do is pay attention.
So true, I had considered phasing my question in the exact same manner as you have.
WHEN DOES REALJOURNALISM.COM START???? I hear something is happening late this afternoon….
Have a great day.
“a date which will live in infamy,” I wonder how will 12/07/09 will be remembered?
Here's a comparison of the original 1941 Pearl Harbor headline with today's much different approach to terrorism: Crime! Declared on al-Qaeda and Other 9/11 Terrorists http://optoons.blogspot.com/2009/11/crime-declare...
Yea the japs really got paid off for the cause of death for millions during 1931 and 1945
They now own most of Hawaii, most American car sales, all TV, Computer and electronics business just to name a few.
Interesting obama gave italy Dodge and billions of bailout money and have allowed germany to have taken over many American companies.
Yea our guys died during WW-II and look what the end results are.
If Obama was really crafty, he'd have given Dodge to China, and made them buy repair parts fro US……..
Just saw this in Missouri . . .

I always recommend Tora Tora Tora for this day. It's a terrific US/Japanese production. No CGI. Jerry Goldsmith score. Amazing roster of actors.
And it depicts U. S. incompetence leading up to what should NOT have been a "surprise attack." There is no sugar coating.
And both sides are shown for their audacity and bravery. A truly great motion picture.
I was lucky enough at the tender age of 14 to have visited Pearl Harbor the same day we saw the movie on the big 70mm screen.
This is GREAT!
I don't know who did it, but it sure is true…….

1. By January l, 1941, Roosevelt had decided to go to war with Japan.
2. But he had solemnly pledged the people he would not take their sons to foreign wars unless attacked. Hence he dared not attack and so decided to provoke the Japanese to do so.
3. He kept all this a secret from the Army and Navy.
4. He felt the moment to provoke the attack had come by November. He ended negotiations abruptly November 26 by handing the Japanese an ultimatum which he knew they dared not comply with.
5. Immediately he knew his ruse would succeed, that the Japanese looked upon relations as ended and were preparing for the assault. He knew this from the intercepted messages.
6. He was certain the attack would be against British territory, at Singapore perhaps, and perhaps on the Philippines or Guam. If on the Philippines or Guam he would have his desired attack. But if only British territory were attacked could he safely start shooting? He decided he could and committed himself to the British government. But he never revealed this to his naval chief.
7. He did not order Short to change his alert and he did not order Kimmel to take his fleet out of Pearl Harbor, out where it could defend itself, because he wanted to create the appearance of being completely at peace and surprised when the Japs started shooting. Hence he ordered Kimmel and Short not to do any thing to cause alarm or suspicion. He was completely sure the Japs would not strike at Pearl Harbor.
8. Thus he completely miscalculated. He disregarded the advice of men who always held that Pearl Harbor would be first attacked. He disregarded the warning implicit in the hour chosen for attack and called to Knox’s attention. He disregarded the advice of his chiefs that we were unprepared.
9. When the attack came he was appalled and frightened. He dared not give the facts to the country. To save himself he maneuvered to lay the blame upon Kimmel and Short. To prevent them from proving their innocence he refused them a trial. When the case was investigated by two naval and army boards, he suppressed the reports. He threatened prosecution to any man who would tell the truth.
Now, if there is a shred of decency left in the American people they will demand that Congress open the whole ugly business to the light of day.
Never forget!
Nah, we held a series of trials in Guadalcanal, Iwo Jime, Saipan, Tarawa, Tinian, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. Done and done.
And today, 68 yrs later, we are attacked from within by liberal despots like Obama, Reed, Pelosi, ACORN, SEIU, HCAN, the EPA, etc. etc..
I would instead say "Progressives"… But I tend to try and simplify things….
I'm wondering if we brought the Japenese organizers of this attack to Hawaii to face criminal charges in a public court.
We have another Pearl Harbor-type sneak attack underway as we sit here. This time, it is a slo-mo stealth attack on the very foundations of our republic.
I'm afraid we're going to wake up to its full extent only after it is too late to do anything about it. A nation can be destroyed in four years.
I'm afraid we're going to wake up on November 5 next year hopefully having elected a non-socialist, but he/she will find it impossible to reverse the fatal damage to our Constitutional process. God help us.
Hopefully not as "The date America went quietly into that dark night…"
Yep, even in New York 8 years ago. If only we had a president now that took this thing as seriously as the previous one did.
I think Obama may have to go on tour in Japan and bow to every person there. That should show this country is sufficiently gelded.
We remember. The world remembers. What is still puzzling the victims of Japanese butchery, rape and looting is why most of the Jap war criminals and elite were not hung or beheaded. The entie royal family should have been summarily executed, and those signing the surrender should have been shot and thrown overboard for the shark's dinner.
We were always compassionate in victory.
Unfortunately.
More than 1,100 sailors stand eternal watch upon the remains of a ship, now resting peacefully on the bottom of Pearl Harbor, which once carried the pride of our nation. In a few moments of time forever captured on film, the gallant men of the USS Arizona suffered and gave their ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.
They never knew us. They never knew what hit them. And they will never know how their memory ignited a blaze that burned brighter than the fires of their ship that Sunday morning – a fire in the hearts of millions that carried America through to victory.
Rest in peace and honored glory, Shipmates. You are the epitome of our motto, "Non sibi sed patriae." Not self, but country.
May you always be first among God's children in His Heaven. You are forever first in our hearts. We never knew you, but we will never forget who you were.
Something to remember about Pearl Harbor.
The Japanese reported that within 5 minutes USN anti-aircraft fire was intense and effective.
Our triple A caused the Japanese considerable discomfort. They did not like tangling with it. Six months later at Midway the first wave returned to the carriers seriously reduced and demoralized.
And we all know what happened later.
And I say this with all the respect in the world for the Imperial Navy. Which was without a doubt the finest carrier force in 1941. No other navy could have brought six decks to a single battle at that time.
But we can hit back. We can learn.
At the end, many of the Japanese thought of us as a stern master, teaching a lesson.
Remember Pearl Harbor. But remember we are not victims.
We can fight with the best or worst.
I agree completely with your sentiments (even though the circa 1980 Kidd class destroyers, aka "the Ayatollah class", were really just stripped-down Spru-cans…small chuckle).
