by PubliusToday, in 1783, the last remaining British troops evacuated New York City. The event, known as “Evacuation Day” took place three months after signing of the formal treaty ending the American Revolution. George Washington made a triumphant return into the city.

Many Americans do not appreciate the long struggle it was to win our independence. Question is, today, as we have tyranny encroaching upon us from within, do we have the wisdom, fortitude, persistence, and courage to resist as our forefathers did? What does resistance look like in the modern times? When you compare the forefathers character to today's political leaders, we should be worried.

Makes you wonder if today's Americans could protest for 10 years and then rally to defeat a tyrant during a 9 year fight, when they can't stand a war to last more than a year.
I think we will see soon what resistance looks like. However, I don't think everyone will acknowledge it as resistance until it escalates beyond the small group level.

1. He's a life-long principled small government conservative that privately built his successful medical practice as career doctor.

3. He has publicy rejected earmarks/pork and will propose term limits as his first act in the Senate.
4. For every budget that is unbalanced he will attach an amendment to cut the spending needed to make it balanced.
His opponent in the Republican primary:
1) is an ex-Clinton supporting Democrat squish backed to the hilt by the GOP establishment, refuses to take a no earmarks pledge and is a career politician,
2) is a supporter of global warming theory so much so he was the keynote speaker at an event hosted by the hard left environmental group Focus the Nation http://is.gd/53cty
3) is funded almost solely by the questionable Mitch McConnell and his DC network of special interests ( http://is.gd/53cEW ). In addition to voting for the bailout and then being one of minority of Republicans to protect TARP McConnell is one of the worst porkers in congress( http://is.gd/53cO5 ) and one of non-partisan C.R.E.W's "Top 15 Most Corrupt Members of Congress"
4) attacked Rand Paul for not blindly committing to McConnell and stated he "absolutely, 100% will vote to keep" the tainted McConnell as GOP leader in opposition to a reformer like Jim DeMint. The subtext is that more wasteful pork can be brought in for Kentucky special interests at the expense of taxpayers in Kentucky and across the rest of the country. http://is.gd/53cR6
This Senate race is receiving national attention because it's a perfect opportunity for the grassroots small goverment movement to have one of their own as a Senator.

Whoops! Those horses are not environmentally-friendly. Too much horse poo in the streets. GW should have walked in accordance with the holy word of the "Manual for Americans" according to Al Gore so's not to fill the NYC air with bad odors, flies, and other noxious things.

If only Randal wasn't as weak on national security issues as his father is.
Trey Grayson is not perfect, and I hope someone else into the ring, but national security is always my top concern, someone with the views that the Pauls have are views I can't vote for in a Republican primary.
Rand Paul is not a clone of his father. He supports military tribunals at GITMO and would have supported an immediate infusion of 10,000 special forces into Afghanistan even absent an immediate declaration of war. Both of which his father would have opposed.
I'd take that over some guy who keynotes Global Warming presentations by enviro-wackos like Focus on the Nation.
America created a Republic with elected officials and appointed officials, in a government that the ordinary citizen was NOT REQUIRED to participate in. We had the freedom to work, enjoy the fruits of their labor and pursue happiness. The Politicians were/are well-paid to handle governmental issues after finding out what their contituents wanted before the next election.
Change: Elite politicians call citizens "Teabaggers", "extremists", and laugh that they refuse to READ 2 thousand pages of pork. NOW, Americans must turn out to the streets to protest the loss of our Constitutional freedoms.

Actually, I believe Nov 4 would be Victory in Washington Day. On or about Jan 3, 2010 would be Evacuation Day. Americans should line up on the Capitol steps that day and cheer as they exit the building. Bet the media sleeps in that day or reports outgoing representatives attacked by unruly mob.
Either way, if they actually get thrown out on their a$$, I'd make the trip.
Out in the hinterland some of the spirit of that time surely lives on. Doesn't it? Maybe not on Pennsylvania Avenue, but surely elsewhere.

This morning's news on Fox reported that 5 Navy Seals are up for court marshal because the terrorist they arrested claims he got hit in the face and is screaming abuse charges. Never mind that this terrorist was the leader that mutilated 3 of our men, burned them and hung their bodies from a bridge in Falusia.
What kind of message does this send to our soldiers? What kind of message does this send to the terrorists? If I would've caught this man, he would've been hanging from that same bridge, in the same condition.
This is an outrage and unfreakingbelievable!! The terrorists are getting citizen rights and our military is being castigated by this terrorist loving administration. ENOUGH.

MY MATH SAYS A X 100/B
1659 X 100/3611 = 46%

Whats UP? The only way to get to 49 is to Add the maximum margin of error to both sets of data and then round up better then 1/2 a point!!

My ggggGrandfathers fought in that Revolution. My Joseph Rose was 14 years old when he signed up with his 16 year old brother. They stayed and they fought. They raised families who were in the midst of political movements. Some giving their lives even before the Civil War for what they thought was right. The family had come from Plymouth Colony. They had a deep investment in what turned out to be me. I am so angry right now that if someone told me to come and fight for America again. I would probably try to do it. I am a pretty gutsy old lady and I am p.d.mad Anyone else feel the same way?

He is not a clone of his father, but he is pretty damn close. If I have to choose between a Republican who is an enviro-wacko and a Republican who is weak on national security, it isn't really much of a contest for me, national security comes first so give me the tree hugger as long as he is willing to defend the country. If it makes you feel better Grayson says he is agianst cap and trade. If a third candidate emerges that might be the best choice, but right now for me it is Grayson over Paul.
Besides I don't think Paul is electable to state wide office. I like Atlas Shrugged but if I was his political adviser I would tell him to go by Randel or Randy. These things shouldn't matter but they do. Rand just sounds strange as a first name, people judge you by your name, and if you have an unusual name people will think you are an unusual person, that is not good for a politician. Unusual usually means outside of the mainstream in politics, not a good place to be when you are trying get 51% of the votes.
BTW Barack gets a pass with the American people because it is a foriegn name.
