Seeing Red Over Palin Parody

A parody of Sarah Palin’s book “Going Rogue: An American Life” has been causing huge confusion — forcing Palin’s publishers HarperCollins to take out ads to direct buyers to the official version.
The rival book, “Going Rouge: An American Nightmare,” was released on the same day as Palin’s memoir and features an almost identical cover.
Colin Robinson, co-publisher of the book, compiled by Nation magazine staffers Betsy Reed and Richard Kim, told Page Six: “We have been contacted by numerous media outlets across the country asking for interviews with Sarah Palin, or companies offering security for her while on tour.
One Web site not only thought we were Ms. Palin’s publishers but called the book ‘Going Rough.’
“We’ve noticed that someone, presumably HarperCollins, has been buying ads on Google redirecting people looking for ‘Going Rouge’ to ‘Going Rogue,’ which seems very unsporting of them.”
Victims of the “Rogue”/”Rouge” saga include CNN’s Political Ticker, which quoted Obama adviser David Axelrod saying he’d be borrowing Obama campaign manager David Plouffe’s copy of “Going Rouge.”
USA Today’s section The Oval wrongly posted the cover of “Going Rouge” with a review of Palin’s book. It has since corrected the confusion with the statement: “Erratum: An earlier posting featured the photo of a different Sarah Palin book. The Oval regrets the error.” Last week, Fox News Channel apologized for showing the cover of the takedown book while discussing Palin’s memoir.

When you are a progressive books are for putting on shelves to say something about you, not to read, or digest, or even entertain for the most part.
Therefore I can say two things without even reading the book
1. It wil be filled with unsupported or debunked drivel
2. Pogressives will by it, put it on there shelves, and quote it without ever having read it.
NOTE: Since most progressives are rather lazy expect more than a few to have the orginal and not he parody on their shelves and never realize it.

Did you ever notice that it is always the states and local governments having to tighten their belts and cut back but never the federal government? The only federal "cut" we ever see is in the military budget and it is the single most important constitutional obligation of the federal government. We need a poverty level for the federal government. Anything above that comes back to the people.
My hypothesis is this: They've at least convinced themselves that they're not afraid of Sarah Palin, but they are scared to death of her political positions. So in order to discredit her ideas, they have to argue against her ideas, her lifestyle, her looks, her politics, every aspect of her very existence — because if they didn't do that, she might start to sound credible to some of the more easily swayed voters. As long as they keep up a heavy assault on her, nobody's paying attention to what she has to say… or at least that's their theory.
The only way they can think to get rid of her is to ridicule her, and it infuriates them when it doesn't work.
Yes, they are afraid of her. Eleven fact-checkers on Palin's book vs two (I think two) on Obama's book. Then we find out that Obama did not even write his book but it was largely written by that un-repentent terrorist Bill Ayers. So much for the fact-checkers on Obama's book huh? It is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but in this case — I think not. It boggles the mind to what depths this White House continues to sink. And as far as David Axelrod, well, you can put lipstick on a pig……………but it's still David Axelod.
They are not only scared to death of her positions but also the fact that her positions are are striking a resounding chord with a great amount of voters. Their attempts to marginalize her are failing as she is appealing to voters across many lines. That is why they are frustrated and that is why they will continue to keep it up. Just wait until the lamestream media decides who should be the next moderate republican candidate for president and see how much they fawn over him or her and continue their attacks on Sarah.

Buy it with a credit card then return it through the card company because the product is intentionally marketed in a deceptive manner to confuse purchaser.

If the picture is in the public domain, not much she can do. Just like Newsweekneed photo shopped her picture from a runners magazine for their magazine cover. Realize who the source is and relish the fact that their viewers and readers are falling faster with each and every "attempt" at journalism.

Sarah has the right policies, but she has turned into a politician, or perhaps she always was…she blathers on and on and on…the same memorized talking points word salad, ad nauseum. Her high point was her speech at the Republican convention when she turned the liberals on their ear with her straight talk. And now ever since, it's been word salad talking points, nothing genuine ever really comes out.
Nah. You can limit your cost exposure very easily, but you can cost the other party plenty.
A better suit might be to go after them for attempting to make money off your likeness. This goes beyond the photo obviously, to the title of the book, and its subtitle. It's clearly an attempt by the other authors and publisher to make money off of the original book. There's case law on this.
That said, she wont sue. But I would.

Thank you for being a patriot and please thank your son or daughter for their service to our country. You have a valid point regarding Sarah but you must consider the forum she is in these days. You hear from her most when she is on the radio or television responding to the questions of the interviewer when she is attempting to give a pointed answer to what may sometimes be a vague or rambling question. Give her a forum, such as you mentioned, where she can speak off the cuff and for the length of time and depth of thought she desires to give a subject and she can blow people away.

The original photographer could sue. . .similar to the artist Shepard Fairey. Remember he created the HOPE poster of BHO photo image from an AP image and I'm not sure that situation has really been resolved.

I cannot believe that a nation of too many laws and way too many lawyers does not have a law to stop one publisher from obviously stealing the identity of another publisher's product. We all know that that is what is happening here. Using the word 'Rough' in lieu of 'Rogue' is clearly intended to confuse consumers, and media outlets, by deceitful means; including the layout and design of the cover. What do we have copyright laws for if not for blatant situations like this. Doesn't HarperCollins have a legal department? Perhaps a copyright attorney would be kind enough to give us an opinion here. If 'Rouge' publishers get away with this then 'wrong is Wright' and Omerica is circling the drain.

Its not actually a parody – its a pretty thoughtful analysis of Palin's record, etc. It's standard for any public figure to be scrutinized, especially when they inject lies like "death panels" into the debate. I wouldn't say anyone is scared of Palin – this book clearly reports on a public figure.
