I am going to give her a phone call explaining that I will no longer be spending a penny in the state of Louisiana! No casino trips, no french quarter, not even a tank of gas. All of the casino parking lots in Louisiana are full of Texas licensce plates, but not this one! In addition, I will be saving the money I would have spent there to send to whatever conservative opponent runs against her when she is up for reelection.
Anyone who has bought into this "blue dog democrat" mentality is a moron. A "blue dog" is simply a liberal who will vote the party line while putting on a good dog and pony show for the folks.

I have never been so disappointed in women as I was in thosw who voted for healthcare reform the Reid way. I've always felt that if you need to be 35 to be President, you need to be 35 to vote for President.
If you need to be 25 to be a Congressman/woman, you need to be 25 to vote for the position as well.

Of course, one of the primary excuses given for allowing 18 year olds to vote was since they were old enough to fight for their country, they should have a voice in the leadership of the country. Unfortunately, they lacked enough life experience to make wise choices on every other aspect of life.
I suggest that we allow 18 year olds the right to vote if they're enlisted in an armed service. If they want to vote, let them enlist. Otherwise, they can wait until they've paid taxes for a couple of years.

Since I serve in uniform, and have served in uniform overseas, and am sworn to defend the Constittuion, I’m appalled. Since I would be legally reprimanded for the same blatant disregard for the Constitution, I wonder why she doesn’t get impeached.
Then I realize why. Freedom hasn’t been taught for more than a generation. People don’t know the proper role of government. They are apathetic, and it’s purchasing their votes that keeps them apathetic.

I agree we might be better off if some of my fellow young people couldn't vote given their less than sound judgement and lack of knowledge, but I'm 26 and I think I know more about politics and the economy than a lot of people twice my age. It really matters how much you read on the subject more than age and I read a lot.
I think it might be a better idea to have a short multiple choice quiz, 10 questions or so, at the top of the ballot and if they can't get 5 of 10 the ballot should be rejected when it is scanned. It could be questions like: Which branch of government does the president belong to? or: Which amendment in the bill of rights mentions the right to bare arms? or: Who is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court? or: The senate has how many members? If they can't get even half of those right, regardless of age, then toss their ballot.
When compared to the usual nasty looking LIB female, Landrieu ain't half bad. I would need a closer inspection, however, to ascertain the amount of ear hair, teeth neglect and overall "freshness" that most LIB women seem to sport.
I will be emailing my senators (both are raging Dems) to ask them how much they're bringing back to the state in exchange for their vote on healthcare. If they're going to vote for this malarkey, they should at least get something for it, right?

The Constitution restricts the age of those headed to elected office. Why? Because they lack wisdom, not intelligence.
Yet apparently we accept the wisdom of those 18 years of age, or even 26, when it comes to voting for the President.
If you aren't wise enough to run for office, you aren't wise enough to vote for it.
What a surprise! Yet another self-serving and corrupt politician from Louisiana. Huey Long, Edwin Edwards, William Jefferson, et. al. would be proud. On a per-capita basis, Louisiana has been the most costly state in the union for U.S. taxpayer subsidies. We've sent them tens of billions to fix things and only God knows how much of it has been siphoned off into the pockets (and freezers) of the crooks the electorate has voted into office. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Landrieu has a walk-in freezer in her home.

$300 million and that was just to get to the Senate floor for debate. What's it going to cost to get the bill passed? Look for a lot of new airports, bridges, libraries and schools in the final bill.
Good for Mary L. The fed healthcare bill dumps huge extra Medicaid burdens on every state, just so Pelosireid can meet Obama's promise of no increase in (federal) deficit. EVERY Senator should demand at LEAST 300 large to cover the gap that the bill puts in place. Then we might know the true cost and then it could be easily defeated.

In response to this new found loyalty in Louisiana, Federal money flowed into Louisiana and this was referred to in the Washington and other main Presses as the second Louisiana Purchase. The story of this and the man that started case against Leche was just published in the book, "I CALLED HIM GRAND DAD. THE LOST POLITICAL PAPERS OF HARVEY G. FIELDS"

Well, we knew you could be bought, and now we know your price. You will sell off the majority of your constituents for promises of $100million, plus whatever else Dirty Harry promised you.
The majority of your constituents do not want government run healthcare, and the only ones who do are those who benefit from the already existing entitlement programs that we can’t afford. You and your like are delivering this country to the socialists, and reducing it to nothing more than another member of the European Union.
Do you really believe that passing Reidcare will help this nation? Do you really believe it will improve healthcare delivery? Do you really believe that the people of Louisiana will be better off with this system in place, with its immediate increase in taxation and its deferred and questionable services?
Do you really believe that the money Harry Reid offered you for prostituting yourself will survive committee and wind up in the final version of this legislation?

Lies… I think you might be missing the point here. Just because you were a dumb lib when you were younger doesnt mean the country should throw out everyones ballot whose under 35. That would be like throwing out the African American vote because they vote 90 percent democrat. Just like it is there right to vote against your party or ideas, its the same for a younger person. I know you really dont think all elected politicians are wise do you? There are certainly plenty who show they lack wisdom. I am 21 and voted and actually pay attention to politics and pay taxes unlike some ignorant younger people. By the way wisdom is not gained by age it is granted by God.
I think I understand what you are saying, but I don't think you have to be wise enough to be a Senator to understand the qualities that would make a good senator (although most Senators don't strike me as very wise and I have met some of them) , so no I don't think old or wise enough to be president do a good job in picking one. By the way, wisdom can't always be measured by age, sure people tend to get wiser as they get older (Ted Turner being a notable exception to the rule), but some people start off more wise and have a better wisdom curve. Some older people are wise and some are otherwise (as Levin might say). For me when I come home for holidays it is really annoying to be lectured to by older liberal relatives whose political theories are based off of a profound over estimation of the capabilities of those 'wise people' we send to DC and economic misperceptions that they hold (they dont even understand basic supply and demand let alone basic comparative advantage theory), I am usually told that I'm just too young to understand. If I wasn't as polite as I am I would just tell them they how stupid to understand the points Im making.
Anyways how can you apply your wisdom all that well in an election if you can't answer 5 of 10 basic questions about the government and elections?
BTW I think 18 IS too young for voting, they should have kept it at 21 and yes that is too young for some, but most of them fortunatly abstain in most elections because of their apathy (2008 being a notable exception, but they were voting for a rock star, not president). And I would also raise age for elective office as well. 35 for the house of reps, 45 for senate, and 55 for president (unless its me, but my true age is 55 and has been so for the last decade
). People tend to be less mature these days todays 35 year old was yeterdays 25 year old, hell 35 is the new 15 for some people still living at home.
One good news item I can tell you, it took almost 50 years for the Democrats to find a candidate that could replicate the kind of excitement among the youth that Kennedy was able to amass. After Obama it very well could take them another 50 years to find someone else to repeat what Obama has done.

No, the point is that we restrict *everyone* from elected office until they reach a specific age, because *someone* younger who runs might not be ready for such a position.
By your logic, we should eliminate the age restriction because *some* of the younger population are ready for such office.

That topic of gathering up money to bribe her not to vote for this was actually discussed Friday on the Moon Griffon Show her in Louisiana. As a resident of the Louisiana Purchase I can tell you we are not proud of this. She is a political whore. I thought that Obamacare was going to suposably solve all healthcare issues then why does the state need money for Medicaid, isn't reform going to delete the need for millions from the feds.
Term limits…..we have to get them out of there after a couple of terms. This should not be a lifelong job for anyone. If they had to get out into the mainstream and really work for a living, they might better understand what is going on in this country.
