What If ObamaCare Had a Rally and Nobody Showed Up? St. Louis Edition
by PubliusThere isn’t anything dramatic like SEIU thugs beating up people in the video below. What’s dramatic is what isn’t there–like the famous dogs who didn’t bark in the Sherlock Holmes story. Health Care for America Now (HCAN), the principal organization pushing for ObamaCare, and Organizing for America, Obama’s campaign arm at the Democrat National Committee, recently opened major offices in St. Louis. Their goal is to build a grassroots movement supporting ObamaCare. As this video shows, this national effort was able to muster around 30 people.
Note too how the videographer–a lone counter-protestor–was able to disrupt their planned rally. One determined person was able to unsettle their gathering. As we have noted, political issues are decided by conviction and determination. It seems, among the public, these traits are on the side against ObamaCare.

It brings to mind a protest rally I waded into a year ago last fall that was protesting the Domestic Oil and Gas industry. Me, and about forty UNION thugs and two newscrews. I held my own, until the Law showed up. "THEY" said I was "threatening" and "intimidating".

MAYBE…just maybe, some people are becoming aware that there is no such thing as a "free lunch". You end up paying for it eventually with higher costs and taxes. However is this case, our children and grandchildren will also bear this burden. Time to wake up.

Great idea! Nonchalantly and in a very friendly, non-confrontational way, pass out pictures of Harry and Nancy, just saying "Here, take one. These are our leaders." First, most of them won't know who they are pictures of… but anyway, then hold up your own copy so that they will all follow suit… Then start leading the chant "Everything for everyone and nothing for ourselves" while every one is holding up pictures of Harry and Nancy. Then they will slowly start to catch on and begin lowering their own copies… "…uh, wait, I need an explanation of that…" LMAO! Heidy Ho!

This just proves our efforts versus theirs. We have actual passion for our country, and want to prevent the government from overstepping their bounds. As a result, the Tea Parties, marches on Washington, etc. have massive turnouts, time and time again.
Their side has to give marching orders to people, who, half the time, don't even know what they're actually protesting about. And as a result of their efforts, they have a couple fairly well attended events, then they fizzle to this. I think we all know where the actual "Astro-turf" is coming from…..the far far left.
Real Americans are now standing up, and we are taking this country back.

My only encounter of a similar nature (well, not at all similar in fact) was a few years ago. There was some sort of union strike at a local supermarket. After a long day there was no way in hell I was finding another place to shop. They were all quite civil until I was WAY out in the parking lot. For an experiment I approached them a second time and curiously they got quiet again. To be fair, they weren't exactly union thugs but rather one loud mouthed woman with maybe 10 less obnoxious supporters. Still, it was quite humorous to see them clam up when I got close.

I'd love to know if any media reports on this "huge" rally were done. If there were, it probably would be reported as the protesters supporting Obamacare being in the hundreds. It might even include a carefully staged shot to make it look like there were more than there really were too.

It is easy, once we can change our mindset. Perhaps it is what Valerie Jarret refers to, when she mentions :"Speaking truth to power".
Those people who run those rally's are nornally big mouthed, obnoxious, schoolyard bullies. The easy way to diffuse those situations, is to step back and size up the crowd. Once you decide who the ringleader is, the loudmouth, walk right up and get righ in their face. That usually gets them off balance and stuttering, and takes the wind out of their sails.
We need to fight fire with fire, and give them thier own medicine. Judging by the geriatric crowd of loosers in the video here, it shouldn't be too hard.

It is stuff like this that makes me unconcerned about legacy press treatment of Tea Parties, Palin etc. Yes, much of political reality is perception and you dudes and dudettes do have a mighty sway over that. Yes, it could be said that all we know of ANYTHING is perception and so it is best to put one's energies into managing that perception. HOWEVER, friends and foes, yes there IS a real 3-D world out there. There ARE laws of economics, law and society that are not nearly as unbreakable as physical laws, but they are close. The Obies don't merely heap contempt on American history, American law and the American Constitution, they feel they are not even restricted by the laws of politics that Ceasar or Tamerlane would recognize. Quite possibly this is because they are ignorant of these but whatever; Barry was supposed to be some political genius. Again this is declared and not demonstrated. He has broken the cardinal rule of life… he believes his own press. Yes, even the Messiah stuff. His contempt for the rules of human interactions is as complete as the Humvees contempt for aerodynamics.
This group lacked heart. Conscripted union teachers? They had the enthusiasm of an eighth grade grammar class in May.
In Indianapolis Saturday, 11/21, there will be a demonstration downtown by area physicians. Hoping for a good turnout. Docs are notoriously difficult to organize. Guarantee better enthusiasm though! This will be my first political demonstration ever. The fact I'm getting into the fray in person probably means something regarding the passion out in the hustings.
You sum up many of my thoughts on 0's agendas very well. Economically, his actions will predictably produce the opposite of his stated intent. Public spending kills more jobs than it creates. As you say, almost as certain as gravity. He is driven by an ideology based upon a view of human nature that is simply not true. The problem: they will keep doubling down on the stupid, disastrous policies under the misguided impression that it will work this time, until the next election. I hope we find some foreign nations to hold American paper until we can restore sane fiscal policy.

I have a niece on medicaid. She has a huge goiter but because it's not life threatening they leave it hanging on her neck. Under any private insurance, it would have been dealt with and long gone.

On the Rasmussen Approval poll, under 55% of the O-"Approvers" feel "Strongly". Over 75% of the O-"Disapprovers" are Strong. (27/49, 39/51) . Basically, that means that twice as many Approvers are wishy-washy. The ratios were reversed just after his (ominously bungled) inauguration.This was a demonstration of that, for sure!
