Developing: Lou Dobbs to Leave CNN, Last Show Tonight

Longtime CNN host Lou Dobbs shocked his viewers Wednesday by announcing that he would be leaving the network effective immediately.The daily host of “Lou Dobbs Tonight” addressed his viewers after giving the day’s headlines and told them Wednesday’s show would be his final time in the anchor chair.
“This will be my last broadcast,” he said.
He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contract early and that he was considering a number of options for the next stage in his career.
“I will let you know when I set my course,” he said. He said he wanted to “contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day.”

It seems to us there is much more to this story. According to the story, Dobbs announced he was leaving to his staff just this afternoon. And coming so soon after that weird story about gunshots at Dobbs’ house raising at least the shadow of a red flag. Whatever one thinks of Lou Dobbs, he did have a pretty big audience. CNN can’t really do much worse than its last place ranking among news channels.

Hey any of you folks stay in Marriott hotels, I have been asking them why they always have CNN on in concierge, FNC is more popular, hence their guests want to watch FNC. They obviously have a policy to tune the TV to CNN as that is what it is always tuned to.
More voices asking the question might wake them up. Ask (politely) the concierge attendant, ask the manager, call or email corporate and request FNC.

I guess the Fox News thumping of CNN has just turn into an official thrashing. What little conservative viewership CNN had has just left the building.

I'm gonna email foxnews to request that they hire Lou. Hopefully, they will hire Lou & put him in Oreilly time slot. Or to at least give Lou one of Shep Smith's show slots. Shep don't need 2 shows. Lou need one of those shows.
I'm with RuthieM –Lou Dobbs was the only reason my remote clicker ever even went to CNN. Dobbs gone from CNN, Stossel gone from ABC. There's not much reason to go anywhere but FOX now.

At one point in the video Obama states "we no longer consider ourselves a Christian nation" and "one point I want to make is if you actually took the number of Muslims in America we'd be one of the largest muslim countries in the world".

Dobbs is a piece of work…
Who has carved out a niche as the 'keeper of the faith' as far as illegal immigration goes. We don't necessarily agree with him, but he is passionate about his cause and had a nice following.
Until now. One must take him at face values vis a vis the treats on his life. There is NO doubt he is unpopular in certain circles. But he should be able to ply his trade.
Hopefully he will find his new place in the dialectic. CNN is the net loser in this…
Lou Dobbs was the only voice-of-reason newscast on television. It is a great loss for all Americans and I hope for CNN's sake that it was he who chose to leave rather than a CNN decision. I like CNN, but their claim of news neutrality will be dealt a serious blow if they dumped him.

At the end of the sourced article it speculated that he might have been asked to leave, and goes on to state a latino group (never heard of them) claimed victory in getting him fired.

Could have been a simple opportunity to take credit for props, or could be something to it, I did note that he had a contract until 2011 and they let him out of it, so it's looks like he is free to go where he pleases.
Point of clarification: Lou Dobbs isn't "anti-immigration."

Why that perfectly logical, lawful and reasonable stance makes people controversial is certainly curious.
Airports have CNN tuned in on all public TV's. They need changing also or at least 1/2 of all TV's should be on FNC for the democratic equality of this nation.
Lou has shown himself to be a true independent. I left the Republican Party and became independent because the Repubs no longer represented my views. I thank Lou for showing the independent point of view. Lou Dobbs is an American who believes the Constitution is more relevant than ever. His was the only program I watched on CNN.
CNN shows its bias often. Not as often as MSNBC, though.
Fox News would be well served by picking up Lou Dobbs, as would the American people.
It is hard to put into words, but that tribute post has eased some of the despair I have been hearing/feeling due to the current administration. It gives me hope…dare I say that word…that our country will survive this administration's disgusting agenda to destroy the American spirit and our Constitution.
I predicted a month ago that Lou Dobbs would be gone from CNN just as Beck was, that Lou was all CNN had left for a reason to tune into them and I said FOX would snatch him up and then FOX ratings will bury CNN because there will be no reason to watch CNN any longer. LOL.
