The Fall of the Wall Didn’t Kill the Left: They’re Back and Attacking Us Again
by PubliusFrom the Daily Mail:
The collapse of communism was actually a slow-burning process. Its moral and political bankruptcy became obvious decades before that glorious Berlin day in November 1989
Twenty years ago today, supporters of freedom and human rights cheered and wept for joy as the Berlin Wall was torn down by jubilant young Germans.
To so many, that heady day seemed to herald the emergence of a better world. The spectre of communism had finally been laid to rest. Liberty had triumphed over tyranny.
The end of the Cold War even led some to proclaim that this was ‘the end of history’ - which was to say that liberal democracy was now the dominant and unchallengeable force in the world.
However, the 9/11 attacks on America tragically proved this to be absurdly over-optimistic. The eruption of radical Islamism revealed that, while the West may have been rid of one enemy in the Soviet Union, another deadly foe had risen to take its place. So much is, sadly, all too evident.
But what is perhaps less obvious is that communism did not just vanish in a puff of historical smoke. The Soviet Union was defeated and fell apart, for sure. But the communist ideology that fuelled it did not so much disintegrate as reconstitute itself into another, even more deadly form as the active enemy of western freedom.

Too bad Cuba (link) and other countries can't become freedom-based in time to help keep us out of the same mess. Just reading blogs from Venezuela once gets a sense of shrinking, fewer and fewer resources being divvied up by corrupt politicians with no freedom for anyone to find or create new resources.
Man is to intrinsically evil to ever think we will be rid of communism, socialism, marxism, or any other ism in this world. It is up to God and God alone to change the world, in His time…

"But the communist ideology that fuelled it did not so much disintegrate as reconstitute itself into another, even more deadly form as the active enemy of western freedom."
…and its standard bearer sits in the oval office.
What I find interesting in the article is the link to victimhood and the Left. A common theme in Western society today, being the "victim" seems to be a big part of the Leftist movement. I had never really thought of victimhood as a part of the old-style Communism until reading this article and seeing how it fits into place.
A most appropriate analogy. It IS a disease like the SWINE FLU that reconstitutes itself into a more viral strain. It is rapidly coming down to the good (real America loving people) and the evil (leftist Marxist pond scum).
What is so hard for LIBERALS to understand that Regean FREED MILLIONS of people who are now free to protest at will. Just more LIBERAL insanity headed by yours truly…. Barack HUSSEIN Obama !
Yes, how ironic that the victors are embracing the policies of the vanquished. Almost every western and westernized country is going socialist – which is just a kinder, gentler form of communism – while the former eastern bloc countries are now the last bastion of economic and personal liberty. Of course, the west can't have that, so from Georgia through Poland to the Czech Republic, US policies are designed to wipe out what little liberty there is left in the world.
Don't get me started about Honduras. Obama is trying his damnedest to instal a Chavez wanna-be there, as if he wants all of central America to be ruled by leftist thugs… on second thought, all evidence points to exactly that desire on Obama's part. Of course, Daniel Ortega, a man the US should have liquidated in the 80's, is also poised to become a "President for Life" tin horn despot in Nicaragua now, because the US hasn't had the stomach to take out the trash for the past four or five decades. I grew up in Panama and Costa Rica. I love central America and central Americans, so this really torques my bolts.
I would say this is shameful, but the west seems to have lost all sense of what shame and honor actually are.
But I'm an optimist. LOL!
Communism didn't so much "reconstitute" (in the US) as to come out of its hidey-hole. Remember Joe McCarthy? Much of his "alarmism" was vindicated by release of the Venona papers, and tons of documentation filed away in the Soviet archives, naming no small number of "McCartyism's victims" as dedicated enemy agents drawing US taxpayer-funded paychecks for their treason.
And, where does the Marxist-based "liberation theology" (Hello, Jeremiah Wright) come from? Well, go back and read Bella Dodd's 1950's testimony to HUAC, about enrollments of thousands of devout Party members into Catholic seminaries worldwide, beginning in the 1930's and 1940's, with ongoing instructions for moving up to influential and policy-making positions in the Church hierarchy.
They've been organizing all their little dots for at least the better part of a century; we've only just begun connecting those dots.
The left is not only attacking us but trying to brainwash:

Communism is alive and well in the USA.

In Chicago the liberal’s Berlin wall still stands in the form of Chicago’s residency rule, where as, if you work for the city you must live in the city. I have an idea, how about governments working to create a city where people want to live rather then are forced to live. But, like many other liberal controlled cities they have to force people to live in them to support all their liberal social agendas, failing schools and outrages taxes.
The fall of the Berlin wall was a seminal event in the late 20th century. It was a beautiful thing to behold.
There were also huge unanticipated consequences from the inclusion of a large number of socially, politcally and economically retarded voters into the body politic. Chief among them would be Germany's lurch to the left.
I do celebrate, however, the liberation of so many people from a repressive, evil regime.
The ones in the Baby Boomer generation who got all the Marxist indoctrination in the colleges/schools are now the "elders" in our society and the ones in charge. That, and the fact that the general populace has either ignored or mainstreamed Marxist thought, is how we got here today.
Thank God for Ronald Reagan.
That's all I have to say about that…….

Good day to watch "The Lives of others"
Excellent points, and, ah, expanded somewhat in this 3-year-old essay:

You know, that reminds me of a Twilight Zone. (Yes, yes, I know that's a wonky thought in itself.) Without getting into details, the gist was: "There can be no peace as long as a man is alive."
Yeah, one of those "uplifting" episodes.
