Its not set in stone. Assuming they can actually patch together something that will pass both houses of Congress and Obama signs it, there will be someone out there who will challenge the constitutionality of it in court. Then the Supreme Court will have to address the issue. I don't know if this will happen fast enough to beat the 2013 deadline or not.

Passing the House of Horrors (or whores) whichever the case may be, is the first step.
The Senate will take it up in the near future (probably next week) but we are heading into the Thanksgiving Holiday and then Christmas (excuse me, the "Winter Holiday"). This could go well into next year, before they try to merge these two Bills. A lot can happen, although they will try to railroad it through with all expediency. Who knows what major disaster, geo-political event, or Muslim Militant Suicide Bomber could happen between then and now……….

The best about this is: The GOP doesn't matter any more!!!
Now as for the actual bill, we have to wait and see. The New Deal led to Hoover Dam as well as to a high deficit. We'll see what this means for our country.

There is a long way to go before this becomes law. And, there is plenty of time to repeal, as most of the benefits don't take effect until 2013. I'm sad to say that it was pro-life groups that allowed this bill to pass today. If they hadn't pushed so hard for their "fix"–which isn't worth the ink on the paper–at least a dozen additional democrats would have had to vote against this horrible bill. The pro-life groups–and it pains me to say this–provided just enough cover for democrats to pass the bill. No doubt these groups are already fundraising on their 'victory.'

SCOTUS does NOT "have to" take any case it doesn't want to and you have to go through every single lower court first, before it can even be voted on tfo take or not at the highest level of the land.

BTW, radokie, are you happy that you will be waiting in line 4-5 months just to see a doctor and may have to wait a year or two for an MRI? This happens when you add 30 million people to the rolls, but don't increase the doctor base. Many of them have said they'll quit or retire and it won't be profitable for students to study for the profession because the loans are too high and profits too low to offset the costs. How about all those medical devices that are going to be taxed? How about you, or your parents or grandparents being told that you won't get that medical procedure because you aren't productive enough, ie. too old, have a pre-existing condition, etc. Just because they will be insuring those with pre-existing conditions doesn't mean they will pay for the procedure. Queen Nancy gave the insurance companies an out there. You see, you won't be able to sue your insurance company. No recourse there. And pre-existers will have to wait 6 months to be covered. Trust me, it will be a lot longer because they won't be able to accommodate everyone. So they'll have to take some off in order to put others on.

Bammy also intends to legalize the illegals. He needs a new voting constituency of the easily duped with little education who will vote for democrats. Must keep the little guy down on the plantation and throw them a few crumbs every election season in order to secure their votes. Medicare Advantage will be gutted and $500B will be cut from Medicare. Seniors will die a lot earlier, but no matter to the Congress critters because they've already spent the social security money.

What we might end up seeing is something similar that occurred with dentistry. That is, an influx of low skill foreigners because nobody here wants to get into the field. I don't know tons of doctors, but the few I do know weren't happy under the current system. With this one they're all about unanimously saying: "Now is a great time to retire." If this isn't turned around, and if I somehow decide to stay here after college, I might end up doing the overseas thing for healthcare. You know, kinda like Europeans do with us now. (Or did.)

Thats true, however my Congressman back home in the US is a Republican who wont have any trouble getting re-elected, he has been there since 94, he plenty of money, no significant challengers, and a mostly Republican district. You forgot Lipinski I happen to live in his POS district. I am contacting the Illinois Republican Party and see if there can be another challenger besides Lipinksi and the other guy who wants to open borders with Mexico. If not I will not vote for neither. However I have a feeling Illinois maybe become a red state. Alot of people hate Quinn right now.

This was just one battle in the war over gov't control of healthcare. It was a battle that lasted a lot longer than anyone expected last Spring, nobody thought it would take until November to get a bill passed in the house.

Now comes the big battle in the Senate. We have some things going for us in the Senate that we did not have in the house. They need to get ALL the Dems to support the bill in the Senate if they want to get it through. And just a few days ago Harry Reid said that he didn't think a vote was possible until next year. If we can keep it up just a little longer than that, we can beat it. Once the election season starts next year, it will be impossible for the Senate to pass anything significant. After the elections hopefully we will have enough reinforcements to defeat it for good (or at least for another decade).

CQ, Cook, and Rothenberg all rank Lipinski as fairly safe. In the last three presidential elections his district went for Obama 64%, Kerry 58%, and Gore 57%. The last time that district elected a Republican congressman was 1973. So from my outsider POV I think he might be safe, but maybe you know something I don't.

It's time for a Tea Party.

Here are some Senators in states where Obama isn't so popular who are up for re-election next year that you may want to put some pressure on.
Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas (probably your best bet for a no vote out of these)
Michael Bennet of Colorado (appointed to fill Ken Salazar's seat)
Evan Bayh of Indiana (a "moderate" Democrat from a state that usualy goes red, but went for Obama last year)
Harry Reid of Nevada (he isn't going to come out agianst the bill, ever. but if the polls get any worse for him or his opponents get funding maybe he will use his power to kill behind the scenes)
Byron Dorgan of North Dakota (What is with the people of ND who keep electing this guy?)
Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania (Probably feeling more pressure from the left these days with a primary challenge, good to make him feel pressure from all sides.)

Stupak is a DEM from Mich. It was a democrat introduced amendment. The Republicans chose to support it. It was cover for the pro-life dems to give a yes vote to the final bill.

Thanks to Doug Powers for filling in while I spoke at the Foundation for Life event in Sugar Land, Texas tonight. What an incredible juxtaposition it was — meeting and talking with the true agents of Hope and Change, the true guardians of innocent life, and the true advocates for women and children outside the Beltway as the Democrat majority inside the Beltway rammed the massive, job-killing, high-taxing, bureaucracy-multiplying, generational debt-piling health care monstrosity down America’s throat.
One Republican voted for Pelosicare: GOP Rep. Anh (Joseph) Cao of Louisiana.
Yes, he’s the one who took over corruptocrat Democrat William Jefferson’s seat. I had reservations about him on election night because of his soft-on-immigration views. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt. If he could stand strong on limited government and fiscal conservatism, it would be worth it.
Well, since he was elected, Cao has backed the S-CHIP expansion, the $108 billion IMF bailout, and the omni-waste spending bill. And he voted to rebuke GOP Rep. Joe Wilson for calling out President Obama on his health care lies.
That is a steep price to pay for Rep. William Jefferson’s removal.
Can’t the GOP do better?
For what it is worth, here is the cheap price the Democrats paid for Cao’s vote:
Louisiana Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao on Sunday morning released a statement after he voted as the only Republican in favor of the Democratic health care reform bill.
The health care reform bill, dubbed the “Affordable Health Care for America Act” (H.R. 3962), passed the U.S. House of Representatives in a 220 – 215 vote.
“Tonight, I voted to keep taxpayer dollars from funding abortion and to deliver access to affordable health care to the people of Louisiana,” Cao said in a statement released by his office. “I read the versions of the House [health reform] bill. I listened to the countless stories of Orleans and Jefferson Parish citizens whose health care costs are exploding – if they are able to obtain health care at all. Louisianans needs real options for primary care, for mental health care, and for expanded health care for seniors and children.”
Cao wrote he obtained commitment from President Obama that he would work together to address the health care issues of Louisiana, including the FMAP crisis and community disaster loan forgiveness, as well as issues related to Charity and Methodist Hospitals. “I call on all my constituents to support me as I work with him on these issues.”
He obtained a “commitment from President Obama.”
