Is this how we should consider the projected Obamacare statistics as well? Oh yeah, he said that the government is going to get rid of all the inefficiencies and waste in the system…because of course, we all know that government is best equipped to get rid of inefficiencies and waste in the system.

Why isn't our government penalizing businessman who took our jobs to other countries? Oh that's right-the free trade agreement signed by Bill Clinton went into effect. Last I saw the true rate was just over 17% that was when the admin was claiming 9% unemployment.

no new net jobs will be created for at least 5 years….NOT until someone new is in office and they get a chance to stimulate demand…..right now, you either lost your job or fear you are about to lose your job. Statist's generally believe that if they want it to happen a particular way, it will happen that way. They completely ignore the real world and all the accumulated experience. Obama wanted the "porkulus" to work for one simple reason, it would make his attempt to expand government more palatable. Think about it. Had the unemployment stayed at the level he was predicting, how much easier to convince hold outs in the Dem party to vote for all his statist bills. But statist's live in a make-believe world. In this world all they have to do is simply proclaim the results they want and it happens. The Soviets thought the same way, look how that ended.
So get this – I just listened (FRI morning) to Obama say that he is extending unemployment benefits and that :
1. that puts money into the economy
2. that will help create (or save) jobs
Continued unemployment actually creates or saves jobs, therefore growing unemployment is crearing or saving even more jobs. That makes as much sense as anything else he and his administration has said and done.

.Curve-smothing the unemployment line it's evident that the drop in unemployment June-July was an anomolous blip that had nothing to do with stimulus spending. In fact if I were a paranoid right winger I'd probably say they cooked the books to make it look better. But as we all know, blocking the release valve just makes it worse because sooner or later the lid blows off the pressure cooker. I'd also have to say that it's probably much, much worse than they're admitting even today.

I don't get it with all you folks be so negative about the economy. 2 years ago we only had 4.5% unemployment and Europe had 8%. One year in office and Obama has turned it all around. I look at that graph and I see Red. I see Red Ink. I see a stimulus package which was squandered, and in doing so made everything much worse. And all of this debt and all of this red ink in now on the backs of the American People, who have been put out of work by these actions, and who suffer for the egregious actions of business and political leaders often acting in concert with each other. Since that stimulus money has been spent, things have only gotten worse, and will continue for quite some time.

But were talking about U-3 unemployment. You see back in the 90's while Clinton was overseeing a recession, the unemployment stats were making his administration look bad. So what did the genius Clinton do? He messed with the fundamentals of how you use to calculate unemployment. He intentionally did this to underestimate true unemployment. So how did he do this? Clinton had a genius idea! If unemployed people fit in a certain criteria they would disappear from the official unemployment stats. Because you can't be unemployed if you don't exist! The question is now where did these people go? They end up in U-6 unemployment which is the most complete unemployment metric. U-6 unemployment says that the unemployment rate is 17.5%!
