GOP Sweep: New Jersey Called for Republican Christie

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republicans surged to victory in governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey on Tuesday, wresting control from Democrats in both states as independents who swept Barack Obama to a historic 2008 victory broke big for the GOP. It was a troubling sign for the president and his party heading into an important midterm election year.
Conservative Republican Bob McDonnell’s victory in the Virginia governor’s race over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds and moderate Republican Chris Christie’s ouster of unpopular New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine was a double-barreled triumph for a party looking to rebuild after being booted from power in national elections in 2006 and 2008.
The outcomes were sure to feed discussion about the state of the electorate, the status of the diverse coalition that sent Obama to the White House and the limits of the president’s influence—on the party’s base of support and on moderate current lawmakers he needs to advance his legislative priorities.
His signature issue of health care reform was dealt a blow hours before polls closed when Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid signaled that Congress may not complete health care legislation this year, missing Obama’s deadline and pushing debate into a congressional election year.

Dwight………….some of the precincts, in upstate N.Y. are refusing to post the volte tallies until tomorrow morning. My guess is that they're going to fiddle with the outcome, which STINKS !
Obama's campaigning in both states was nill and possibly had a negative effect. He's Kryptonite to Democratic candidates.

Does anyone have any idea of the make up of the precincts reporting? I'm a bit worried Owens is going to steal this thanks to the turncoat, but maybe this is a bunch of dem/lean-dem precincts so far?
I'm worried about it too and no, I am not clear on which precincts are holding out, nor how it's all configured anywhere, up there.

I am optimistic that the NJ win is due to at least to a partial neutering of ACORN. The surgery isn't yet complete though.
On a sour note though, early results in NY indicate that is likely still alive enough to influence that race.
We really need to accelerate the surgery before 2010 elections.

As I said the victory dance would be short. In less then a year Obama and his boys have done the most damage to their party by well being Democrats, people have got a good wiff of what they have planned for us and finally realized how dangerous they are to our country. I worry that Christie will be ineffective. Great symbolic victory but he still has an incredibly corrupt state assembly to frustrate any real reform or fical repsonsibilty. NY, like Californika get what they deserve. I left that state in 1970 and have returned only to visit my parents and a two year stint to work(because of a promotion). Both parents gone now, so am determined not to ever go there again(exception would be to visit ne Yankee Stadium), but nothing more. Like Taxachussits, it's a liberal cesspool.
