Exclusive Poll of Likely Voters: Strong Opposition to Health Reform Plans
by PubliusA new Fabrizio McLaughlin national poll of likely voters finds the public strongly resistant to the health care proposals currently under consideration in Congress. The poll also finds that health care isn’t the top issue on likely voters minds, despite the wall-to-wall news coverage of the debate over the last several weeks. The economy or jobs were the top issue of 50% of likely voters. More troubling for supporters of Congressional health care legislation, is the finding that, the more likely voters learn about the proposals, their opposition to the legislation is overwhelming.

As reported earlier, the poll began with the same question tested earlier by the Washington Post. Even with this neutral phrasing, likely voters were opposed 48-45%. As the questions became more detailed, however, opposition grew and any support collapsed. Below are the detailed questions and results. These should give serious pause to ObamaCare proponents pushing for quick legislation action.
Based on what know, do you favor or oppose a “public option” health insurance plan? (Asked only of those who were aware of the debate over a public option.)
Total Favor 39%
Total Oppose 53%
Would you favor or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans if you knew the total cost for this health care reform plan would be $900 billion dollars?
Total Favor 25%
Total Oppose 67%
Would you favor or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans if you knew it would cut Medicare benefits for Senior Citizens by $500 billion dollars?
Total Favor 15%
Total Oppose 78%
Would you favor or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans if you knew you could be forced off your current health insurance and onto the government-run plan?
Total Favor 17%
Total Oppose 75%
Would you favor or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans if you knew that there was no guarantee that you could keep your current doctor?
Total Favor 20%
Total Oppose 75%
Would you favor or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans if you knew that it could limit the treatments and medications you could have access to?
Total Favor 16%
Total Oppose 80%
Would you favor or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans if you knew that it would raise taxes nearly $400 billion dollars?
Total Favor 21%
Total Oppose 73%
The poll was conducted by Fabrizio, McLaughlin and Associates. It was conducted October 27-29 of 1,000 voters who said they were likely to vote in 2010.
The poll also asked how legislators votes on these issues would impact their vote in 2010. Check back later today for those results. Also, the poll added an oversample of 400 likely voters in BOTH the 13 Senate and 47 House races ranked most competitive by the Cook Report. Results in those are interesting. Check back for those and the full top-line results as well.

DC wants to ram this down our throat because they know that no one wants this and they don't care either. This is all about control. And they also know that they may not have a job in 2010 either.
i am assuming this was posted under the pseudonym "publius" because no credible biggovernment.com "author" wants to be associated with such an obvious and easily discredited "push poll"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_poll
Fabrizio, McLaughlin and Associates who ran the poll is employed by an umbrella group founded in 2000 by fifteen for-profit members of the American Health Care Association, who want reduced federal regulation.

Note that whenever Obama, Emanuel, or Gibbs are asked about why polls show SO many people oppose their misguided Cap-n-Tax/Obamacare proposals, they ALWAYS segue-right-into “we need to educate the public…”.
LOL, save your breath- Constitutionally-aware patriots don’t take lectures from Marxists.

So which part of these question qualify as propaganda and rumor mongering, masquerading as a poll? It looks like most of the Items here are in line with the published facts.
Even if I agreed with your analysis Scott ("push poll"), can you see how we are learning from the masters, the ones that invented the biggest pushes of all – "it's for the children", "it's racist", "tax-cuts for the rich" &c. Anyway, don't let me stop you from discrediting this poll. Get back to us once you've received instructions from Eric Holder and uncle George. Nice wikipedia entry btw.

"It looks like most of the Items here are in line with the published facts"
that's exactly what a push poll is supposed to appear to be. the "would you support [x] if you knew [y]" sounds reasonable, until you realize that all [y] presented in the entire poll are negative, and any positive outcomes (that are also "published facts", say… from the non partisan CBO) are not presented in the poll, or not allowed to be qualitatively weighed in on against the negative [y] presented.
that is the very definition of a push poll: qualitatively
here's another example of a bad poll:
http://bad-fox-poll.s3.amazonaws.com/fox-news-pol...
note, there is no way to say, "I support the public option" in any of the possible replies you can give.

Oh well, there you have it!
No one making under $250,000 a year will see their taxes go up a dime, you can keep your existing plan, benefits, and doctor(s), and any Medicare cuts will only remove waste and fraud with no impact on care. Barry said so, therefore it must be true.
That just leaves the first question, which must also be ignored as there is no debate over how desperately the public needs and wants the public option. Just as there is no debate about
Global WarmingClimate Change.Hope and Change. Changing from having Freedom over your own health care, to Hoping politicians and bureaucrats will allot some "supplies" for your "procedure." And you can Believe that is coming for you, oh yeah.
Sometimes I think I'm living a dream, or perhaps I just have a memory. Do you recall the plethora of stories from the 1960's, penned in American outlets, by Americans (after being invited to tour select Soviet sites), extolling the virtues of the Soviet manufacturing and argicultural processes? No word about pollution, shortages, or raping the land (nor about how well certain locations grew crops, you know, those crops grown on land fertilized by 25,000,000 counter-revolutionary farmers). I also remember the never-ending stories about global cooling. Then there was the ozone layer. No one bought it, so they moved onto global warming, a theory devoid of facts, but packed with science about as scientific as that found in the Reich's hygiene and purity laws and about as self-serving (grant money and tenure and fame in this case).
That's because the purpose of the poll was to assess support of reform without a public option. Do you even read the things you link to?
You know I have a question for the lying global warming Gaia worshippers: if the climate is warming, how be it, then, that wine production (existent in England from the invasion of Claudius to about the Black Death), vanished until very recently and the introduction of new strains that can withstand the (colder) English climate? Can you explain the extent Norse writings that describe the coastline around Labrador in glowing terms, and can you explain why the agricultural land in Greenland was, over time, unable to support a population? Here's a clue, it got colder. You know, for the English climate to support wine-production, and the production of other crops from Roman control until the Back Death, it would have to have to have been warm enough that it would have actually have been underwater due to a rise in sea-level…but it was warm enough BUT above sea-level! How can that be? Simple: green is red.
Michelle Bachman needs you there Thursday but if you can't' be there make the phones ring @ high noon (EST)… Here is all the numbers !!!! Call your Rep !!!!! We can do this !!!!! Shut the phone systems down !!!!
http://www.teapartypatriots.org/BlogPostView.aspx...
Yes We Can ! … take your country back America or watch it die a slow death….
Have you ever seen Mel Gibson's Apocalypto? Focus on the eclipse scene, where the High Priest looks at the King and smiles a knowing smile, and the King returns like for like, and the people actually believe that shit. What you have in that scene is the sum total of global warming.
mal…. Scott was trained by ACORN.. enough said, give him a break, he's slow…
i did read it. but how could a person answer if they did support the public option?
note that the "NO" option carries the additional caveat that "the current system works fine, leave it alone"
that is a leading poll.
The most well known pollsters also show, over and over again, that the American populace, by a wide margin, is NOT in favor of ObamaCare; troll.
"Then there was the ozone layer. No one bought it"
Oh no, Mr.Cakes. The ozone hole was (and is) very much a real thing. It was solved by banning the use of CFC's, and the hole is slowly regrowing,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_depletion#CFCs...
Nope, scotty boy doesn't even read the articles here, he just posts drivel and DNC talking points.
Walter Duranty won a Pulitzer for writing how wonderful Stalin and the USSR were in the late 1030s – early 1940s.
i did read it. but how could a person answer if they did support the public option?
please tell me. i am all ears.
pollsters like this perhaps? that are actually heath lobby public relation firms? hm. i wonder…
Health care equals slavery! It about control! It's about power! It's about hatred of America! How can I say this? its easy! The bill is supposed to be about health care but there any number of other items that the Washington politicos have stuck in there. Things like giving them access to our bank accounts so they can take what they feel they need to pay for all this crap, no one but the democratic left wing sicofants want. No one i know wants the government involved thier health care o rthier bank or the ir car company or their energy. The health care bill, Crap and tax, treaty of the seas, the UN, global warming and just about every other piece of garbage Washington is trying to get us to take can all be boiled down to one thing and one thing only. The people who want them want to destory America! Obama and his pastor Wright because they are racists, bigots and worse to the UN which now run by dictators who refuse to follow the rule themsleves but continually demand we do. They hate america! Wake up America! take back our country and kick these *&*^&%& out of office and out of our country.
So which one is it again, I'm a little confused here…
First you say: "The ozone hole was (and is) very much a real thing."
Then you say: "scientists observed the thinning of the Ozone layer"
So was the entire 'lining' of the ozone thinning, or was (and is) an actual hole…?
Hmmm…Can't have it both ways, now can ya?
…and lots of folks got paid off, didn't they? Yet it didn't push people enough. Something more was required. I saw a blurb a couple of days ago about the ozone layer regrowing…I thought the causal agent had been identified and eliminated as well, but, lo! CFC's were only a proximate cause, now it's…it's…being caused by? Guess. It's all garbage Scott. It's one thing to replace the bath salts (CFC), it's quite another to drain the bath and chuck the baby out with it. It panders to the worst impulse in man, his pride…"we can destroy, we can create", or, to put it simply, as Lucifer, "I shall be like the Most High". It's always interested me that the end of this is to identify humans as the problem (described by some environmentalists as a disease), and describe us as outside of nature, or the natural order, which, incidentally, is EXACTLY the argument Lucifer et al made before the Throne of God (if you believe that kind of thing, but anthropologically, it affords insight into the mind of man even if you believe it is just made up) just before he said he would not serve.
climate change is a global phenomenon. it is widely accepted in the model that the IPCC put forth that there may be regional fluctuations in temperature.
but when viewed at the global scale, things are getting hotter, and an unprecedented rate, that starts approximately at the industrial revolution.
these are the kind of TRENDS you'd be looking for (not cherry picked data, like "oh i see june 1997 was cooler than june of 1967"):
* Of the last 12 years (1995–2006), 11 are among the 12 warmest since records began in 1850(on an aggregated global scale)
* Sea levels across the globe have risen in a way consistent with the warming – since 1961 at an average of 1.8 millimetres per year, and since 1993 at 3.1 millimetres per year.
* Satellite data recorded since 1978 show the annual average Arctic sea ice extent has shrunk by 2.7 per cent each decade, with larger decreases in summer. Mountain glaciers and average snow cover have declined in both hemispheres.
* floods and cyclones have occurred more frequently in the last 30 years
* The global average surface temperature has increased over the 20th century by about 0.74 °C
* Temperatures have risen during the past four decades in the lowest 8 kilometers of the atmosphere;
* Snow cover and ice extent have decreased
While not a fan of polls, these results do appear to mirror the sentiment of the public I've come across. It does say something strong too and that is "We don't want Obamacare!"
The TIDES foundation is one of the financial supporters of the Center for Media and Democracy which operates the website Sourcewatch.org which you cited above against this poll.

What about the one where hurricanes were supposed to be getting stronger and more destructive?
http://www.coaps.fsu.edu/~maue/tropical/global_ye...
"o! CFC's were only a proximate cause, now it's…it's…being caused by?"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_depletion#Ozon...
Several peer-reviewed studies show a clear global trend toward increased intensity of the strongest hurricanes over the past two or three decades. The strongest trends are in the North Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. According to the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-AR4), it is “more likely than not” (better than even odds) that there is a human contribution to the observed trend of hurricane intensification since the 1970s. In the future, “it is likely [better than 2 to 1 odds] that future tropical cyclones (typhoons and hurricanes) will become more intense, with larger peak wind speeds and more heavy precipitation associated with ongoing increases of tropical [sea surface temperatures].”
http://www.pewclimate.org/hurricanes.cfm#freq
Except that's not what this university study shows at all
http://www.coaps.fsu.edu/~maue/tropical/global_ye...
this bunch really doesn't care much about the polls- or what YOU think…
Remember Anita Dunn's favourite philosopher? Chairman Mao? Quote: "First the revolution, then the elections"
How about the other quote: "We get it that power comes from the barrel of a gun"… And don't forget the 'glorious
revolution' in Venezuela.
Polls are a temporary inconvenience for them. Until the next 'crisis' occurs. Then the real steamroller begins…
"Can't have it both ways, now can ya?"
the thinning of theozone layer created a "hole" that permitted more cancer causing UV radiation than usual to reach the earths' surface.
there is no error in my syntax nor in my explanation in the phenomenon above.
"increased intensity of the strongest hurricanes " is not the same thing as cumulative energy.
It only means the stronger ones will be stronger. your study is logically orthogonal to the topic at hand.
There is a simple explanation for these poll results: people are idiots. All you have to do is spend about five minutes reading posts at this site and this will be irrefutably obvious.
Cliff, you need to pull yourself together before your head explodes. You're a little on the delusional side today.
“the thinning of theozone layer created a “hole” that permitted more cancer causing UV radiation than usual to reach the earths’ surface.”
I never realized that there was a skin cancer epidemic in Antarctica? Also the “hole” has occurred every year since we have had the ability to monitor it. Also as early as 1912 cloud formations that we now know only occur during this event were recorded. Even most respectable environmentalists have dropped the ozone “hole” issue.

Heathcare + Cap and Trade = Total Control over ALL of our lives, not just the people opposing it. These people WILL eat their own eventually. Which brings us to the final solution…to greenhouse gas: We Stop Breathing and SAVE the Planet.
Good Luck with that.
I think I kind of see your point. It really has nothing to do with whether the respondent supports the public option or not… as I indicated above, the whole basis of the poll is to evaluate support if the public option was not included. Complaining about not having a "public option" choice in the poll is like going to KFC and complaining that they won't sell you a McRib sandwich.
Ideally, IMO, the poll would have just had three or four one-word responses: "Yes", "No", "Undecided", and possibly "Maybe" (though that might overlap too much with "Undecided"). If additional information was desired, then additional questions could be asked.
Is it a "bad" poll? If it is, then so is pretty much every other news organization's poll, and I've been asked similar "bad" questions from professional polling companies, and refused answering questions based on that.
So, I would suggest that you decline to answer this non-scientific poll.
Oh, I remember the big OZONE scare (yep, I'm old..) all it did was make some people rich (the ones who developed the alternatives to aerosol canned stuff). That just whet their appetites for this new "crisis". Why just settle on a few new products? Now these idiots can totally remake our economy and they are poised to clean up (not the planet) financially.
Awesome! Finally….someone who sees what these bastards really are……it's time to take our nation back!
You have a point. Your post itself is particularly idiotic.
Why can't we have a better class of trolls? It's not like Soros can't afford to pay more.
[...] Leave a Comment Exclusive Poll of Likely Voters: Strong Opposition to Health Reform Plans [...]
This has become a dogs bite Democrats story, at this point. I'm hopeful that Reid will be retired to a deranged dotage next cycle because of his Obamacare fiasco.
Are you kidding with these questions? I would reject chocolate ice cream if the questions were worded like this. Pathetic. Losers.
"is like going to KFC and complaining that they won't sell you a McRib sandwich. "
more like going to KFC and ordering chicken, but receiving french fries and a pie instead.
you can have any choice you want, as long as it's one of theirs.
theonly thing 'irrefutable' is the hit and run non-sequiter that passes for discourse. Simply because you do not agree means very little…
Well, as long as you get a chance to whine, I'm sure you'll be happy.
Tsunami in VIRGINIA ! McDonnell over Deeds by 47% initially…. The revolution has begun… We are taking it back…..finally.. Happy Days… One down and two to go this evening !
Scottz – don't you have somewhere to be, like maybe Huffpo or Dailykos? Why are you here?
Wikipedia? Really? Are you kidding me? Didn't your teachers every tell you not to cite wikipedia as a reference? Any IDIOT with half a brain can alter data on wikipedia. Please. Go away.
Thank you Nelson, for taking your time to prove the troll wrong. Although I doubt that the ever present scottz will even know about the Tides foundation and what they stand for!
O/T…sorry… Take a look at Mary Katherine Hamm on Hot Air….hubba hubba (swoon)….(pavlovian response)…
????
"Nelson's Legacy " disproved nothing i said.
they even say who they work for on THEIR OWN WEBPAGE:

behold, THE HEALTH CARE LOBBY
The trolls you get are the trolls you deserve. The better trolls go to sites where there aren't as many knuckle-draggers.
There is no discourse here. Only a bunch of crackpots ranting about how the government is conspiring against them. Before you use big words like "sequitur" you should make sure you know how to spell them.
i cite data and provide references to back my assertions. not many who post here bother to say anything productive, and those that do don't even bother to cite much of anything.
if there is a more comprehensive source available for free on the internet that you feel more valid, let me know, i will use that.
…and if you went to college, you'd know that wikipedia lists the references and sources the article uses as footnotes. so you can go back, and use those references to back your thesis.
Try to control yourself. You're reacting like Rich Lowery when he watched Gidget Palin in the VP debate last year.
just to be clear
Fabrizio, McLaughlin and Associates who ran the "poll" is employed by an umbrella group founded in 2000 by fifteen for-profit members of the American Health Care Association, who want reduced federal regulation. I'm not sure the full meaning of this is getting through to most of you.
THEY SAY SO ON THEIR OWN WEBPAGE:

I wonder what other biggovernment.com stories may be suspect?
Oh scotty boy, Wiki allows people to post any damned thing to their site; fact, error, or outright lies!
Using Wiki as a szource, is really a touch and go thing. Just becaiuse something is on line ( such as your posts ), doesn't mean that it's true/factual.
WHAT? you were just presented a fraudulent poll bought and paid for by the health care lobby against your interests as a consumer, and this is your response???
The planet warmed up less than 1 degree, LESS THAN ONE DEGREE, in the span of 100 years, supposedly, and that, THAT is some big deal? Oh scotty, you're a laugh riot today and FYI………….those figures are wrong.
I have some very simple questions (let's call it a poll) for all the supporters of government run health care posting on this website. My questions have only two possible answers – yes or no, simple, easy, straightforward.
1. Taking into consideration the shortage of the H1N1 vaccine, which the manufacture and distribution of has been "overseen" (not run by) by the federal government, do you believe that the federal government can provide your healthcare promptly and accurately?
2. Do you feel like you get your money's worth when you stand in line at your local DMV to renew your tags or driver's license?
3. Do you think that the United States Postal Service operates as efficiently as it could if it were not a quasi-government entity?
4. Do you think that Ford Motor Company's record profits for the third quarter were a direct result of federal "stimulus" money they received?
5. Do you want to be able to "sign up" for "free" (government run) healthcare at your local DMV or post office?
5. Do you want to pay more for "medical devices" (including, but not limited to such mundane items like "feminine hygiene products" and syringes) to pay for "free" healthcare?
6. Do you want your parents and/or grandparents to have their Medicare benefits cut to pay for your "free" healthcare?
7. Do you want your future Medicare benefits cut (you know, those future benefits that you are paying for today) to pay for your "free" healthcare today?
8. Do you believe that you will ever be able to collect from the federal government all the money that you and your employers have paid into Social Security?
Simple, easy test/poll. An answer of yes to 6 or more of the questions, then you are a staunch supporter of government run healthcare. An answer of yes to 4 of the questions, then you are on the fence. An answer of yes to 2 or less of the questions, then you are against government run healthcare.
Do we have problems in our current healthcare system? Yes. Can those problems be fixed by adding additional government regulations and bureaucracies to already overburdened system? No. Simple.
again. you don't use wikipedia as a source.
you look up the valid sources the wikipedia article uses as citations, and use those.
do i need to repeat myself a third time? let me know.
Again, their souces /links aren't always accurate not factual. Do I have to repeat that 1,000 times, before you finally understand that simple statement ?
No wonder you don't know the difference between "their" and "they're", you just don't pay attention.
the vast majority of mankind lives on coastal areas. so as land based glaciers and ice cover melt, the oceans rise, and yeah. even one degree has made a difference.
if you did bother to crack a book and actually learn about global climate change instead of dismiss it outright, you'd know that the model based on 20+ years of research is a feed forward system, capable of drastic change. i.e. it only starts slow.
go look up the IPCC. read about it. go see how the data models predicted in 1992 have actually been overly conservative, and we are seeing the effects predicted but at an even worse scale.
Actually, most of them. But the folks here like them, and more important, believe them.
"gain, their souces /links aren't always accurate not factual. "
well, that's why you should confirm before you use them. right buddy?
Little boy, all you're doing is regurgitating specious faux science, which has been disproved over and over and over again.
Spitting out insults, at me and everyone else who disagrees with your factless, idiotic posts, isn't debating, nor does it do anything but waste bandwidth.
Global Warming is a HOAX; so much so, that now the snake oil con men pushing it have had to change the misnomer to "CLIMATE CHANGE", or else be laughed at even more. And guess what? CLIMATE CHANGES ALL THE TIME !
Go back to posting on the libtard sites……………..maybe you can pick up a few new talking points to
post. The same old same old stuff you keep dribbling out, is getting far too repedative/old/boring.
"which has been disproved over and over and over again. "
where exactly? I do not believe it has.
Nope, the consensus is heavily weighed to the other sided; against humans having anything at all to do with it and that it's all just a hoax.
I'd post the proof, but know that you'd olnly pool poo it, so shan't bother.
HOW'D YOU LIKE THE BIG GOP SWEEP IN VIRGINIA, SCOTTY BOY? YOU SAIDX IT'S NEVER HAPPEN, IIRC. LOL
didn't use spell check, sorry. A recurring theme amongst your ilk is pointing out meaningless trivia. It doesn't add anything to your rant. If you like the cradle to grave approach of Obama fine. We don't, and aren't afraid to point out the insane rush to consolidate a left wing power base before they are thrown out next year. Like they are getting thrown out this evening. It isn't inconceivable that marxist revolutionaries would generate a crisis to stay in power. We do not put this past them- and it is people like you who will be the useful idiotsin this quest.
So channel your anger. You might need it for something important- like surviving…
Unlike your mistakes, mine were typos and you wouldn't know correct grammar if someone held a gun to your head and told you that they would shout you, if you made an error.
You didn't capitalize any of the "I"s, which must always be written in caps; not to mention all of your other grammatical and capitalization errors you keep making.
Why don't you want to talk about all of the DEMS losing tonight?
Bull S***t! Tell me what happened to the 3 mile thick glacier that covered the Chicago Area (forming the Great Lakes) before the Industrial Revolution. Did they disapear because of man or dinasoar FARTS! I'm fed up with you Pseudo- Intellectuals that know EVERYTHING !! You CAN'T Answer my question, can you? You Ignore the Sun's Influence on Earth don't you? Watch the History Channels Series on the "UNIVERSE" and you'll see how stupid you and Al Gore Really are. Your statistics are propaganda and garbage.. ANSWER MY QUESTION…..WHAT HAPPENEN TO THE GLACIERS , was it NATURAL or did evil man create it.??? You Have No Answers do you?????????????????????????
"not to mention all of your other grammatical and capitalization errors you keep making. "
i do that because this is an informal web forum not a professional paper, and i treat it as such.
"Why don't you want to talk about all of the DEMS losing tonight"
because this thread is on a completely bogus health reform poll run by the health lobby working against out best interests, posted by biggovernment.com's editorial staff. and as discussed earlier, i do not have the ability to post stories at the front page level like the editorial staff.
What an ignorant fool you are. You cannot see how dangerous this Obama "ADMINISTRATION" is to America. They will come after you too but you are blind now and I hope you see the light of Freedom and Liberty when you too will lose it. Get off the Kool Ade, Learn what's hapenning, you are in the Same Boat as the rest of us, when we sink you sink also………
Look at Tom Daschle; Voted out of Office and now makes 4 Million a year as a Lobbyist. and his wife makes even more in government (service?) All politicians should be banned from lobbying for 10 years. Oh Yeah, Bill Clinton recinded that……………… Daschle is de facto is running the Health Care agenda from all his visits to the White House. Truth Hurts……..
Good questions. But why did you state that Health Care would be "FREE"?? Many think it will be FREE, that's why they support it……. You've got a big suprise coming. if you don't" BUY" Healthcare you will be fined by the IRS…Did You Know that ????????????????
Could be worse. He could be reacting like Chrissy Matthews listening to an Obama speech, with that feeling running down his (?) leg…
As long as you know that you're considered bottom-of-the-barrel scum even by those who you think are your friends.
"Nope, the consensus is heavily weighed to the other sided; "
IPCC disagrees: http://www.ipcc.ch/
"I'd post the proof, but know that you'd olnly pool poo it, so shan't bother. "
no, no really please post it. that is what i had originally requested, a refutation of IPCC's 20 year long peer reviewed findings on the true effects and extent of human caused global climate change based of tens of thousands of scientists from over 130 different countries.
please post it indeed, that is precisely what i requested!
thanks in advance,
if you can refactor that gibberish you just wrote in to a single coherant question, I would seriously be happy to answer you.
No, admit it, you do it because you are a kid, who doesn't follow the rules, when you don't feel like it. Nobody else posts like that.
This is a political forum, not your cell phone or blackberry.
The ONLY thing "bogus", around here is you; child.
I never down voted your post, and I'm not sure why you would assume I did? I think you need to grow up, and put your big boy panties on!
Oh, and maybe you want to edit your above post for a third time to suit your argument? Or maybe quote that bastion of factual knowledge again, Wikipedia. You know, the same place that Rush was quoted making all those racist remarks.
edit: Stop your whining!
Even though the libs are backing off of Healthcare right now, please don't think we have won the battle against it. The libs are holding off the vote on healthcare reform because they know they can't get a bill done prior to the year's end. In order to calm the prospective voters down for the mid-terms they will sweep this under the rug so they will have a better chance of being elected. If they keep enough seats then they will move foward with their agenda. This is the best option they have of keeping power & promoting their agenda. They are going to begin to rally many of the uniformed masses like they did to take the White House. They are fixing to go into campaign mode again so we as Conservatives need to be ready to take them on & not be sitting on our heels gloating about our momentum shift.

This is the lamest poll I have ever seen, bar none.
"Would you favor or oppose killing endangered wolves if there were a wolf leaping at your throat?"
Also, from Cliff: "Health care equals slavery. "
Just take a moment and let that sink in.
"and I'm not sure why you would assume I did"
i didn't assume YOU did. but several other people evidently did. And I'd like to know if it is because they actually have a point to make, if they can explain any factual errors i have made…
or are they just downvoting because their fragile egos and wrongheaded world views are bruised and damaged by my post?
"Just take a moment and let that sink in. "
DNorman, your assignment for the day is to learn a new word:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/context
"i didn't assume YOU did."
One must be careful when typing text, because there is no way to articulate a meaning with emotion when using text alone. You replied to MY comment stating that:
"here is another example of biggovernment.com downvoting in the case of simple irrefutable scientific fact."
By grouping every single person on this board as 'biggovernment.com', I think it's painfully obvious how one, anyone, could assume you're talking about them. Or do you think that the moderates of this board don't like you, and therefore punish you by down voting your posts'? Either way, it's a blanket statement, and you should try to be more specific next time in order to remove any confusion in your meaning. Granted, you actually have a meaning to begin with!?
"or are they just down voting because their fragile egos and wrongheaded world views are bruised and damaged by my post? "
So you are always right, and everyone else is always wrong? I think from reading your posts', it would be you that outwardly appears to have a fragile ego. If you present a point of view, with "technical understanding" that's great. But there are always two sides to everything. And when you go on, and on, and on, and on about how factual you are, and how well you may have an "explanation of the phenomenon"…You are bound to be met with some opposition. The problem is that you refuse to accept anyone else's explanation of the phenomenon as even being remotely credible, because you have a Wiki article that definitively proves otherwise…And that's the way it is…Mind you, I'm stating just one incident of many that I have seen.
It's one thing to have passion about the issues and topics, and to share your opinions with others but don't forget…Opinions are like buttholes, everyone's got one. And unfortunately for you, most people you engage with, think your's stinks!
Nobody is forcing you to be here are they?
There are rules, when one write English.
Stupid kids ignore the rules, as you do, but only sometimes, here, when they text message on cell phones, Blackberries, whatever. Using that form, here, doesn't make you "special", a rebel, nor "cute". It just porves what an idiot child you are.
[...] Owens won because he was a moderate…end of story. And no moderate bluedog is going to feel a-ok with voting to spend a trillion dollars on healthcare especially when people are very anxious about it. [...]
nobody is forcing me to be here.
but what is the purpose of commentary if dissenting voices simply downvote rather than engage in debate?
1. Yes (not flawlessly, but medicare/medicaid and many other countries demonstrate the potential)
2. Yes (the alternative being automated phone systems?)
3. Yes (will FedEx deliver a letter for less than 50 cents?)
4. No (indirect, not direct, from Cash for Clunkers)
5a. Yes (reuse of existing facilities sounds smarter than creating a new office)
5b. No (I'd want it to be paid for through payroll taxes much like medicare and social security)
6. No (if "free" healthcare is provided, taxes need to be raised)
7. I don't care (I don't use any optional federal subsidies, even if I pay taxes for them)
8. Yes (too politically unpopular to kill)
I think your poll is sort of broken. I don't want the federal government running any entitlement programs at all. I support ending SS, Medicare/Medicaid, welfare, unemployment, etc. Even if the government provides something cheaper than the private sector, the government is too inefficient at innovating. This means something may be cheaper and "better" today when provided by the government, but allowing innovation would eventually surpass anything the government can accomplish. It is also dangerous to let people rely on the government and forget how to protect themselves. Look at Social Security and how people now can't even balance a checkbook. If there were no safety net, maybe people would recognize it is worth staying awake in Math class.
I'd prefer people and corporations to set up their own organizations and get recognized as being charitable if they give money to the needy. I dislike being forced to give it to the government and letting the government appear charitable with my own money. People often resent the government and those who are in need when the government is so involved, and corporations can get away with being incredibly greedy. Those in need also often feel entitled to help, which I think is much worse than feeling appreciative of the help people generously provide.
So, given my views… do you find it a little odd that your poll shows I am somewhat supportive of government-run healthcare?

We have the power of the purse strings! The answer at this time is nonviolent resistance. What if everyone who worked for themselves refused to pay their quarterly taxes next April and every one who works for another person or company changed their exemptions to prevent any further money from being withheld from their pay check right now and refused to pay in April? Let them try to put half the country in prison at the same time!
