Hoffman Concedes NY-23 Race
by PubliusFrom the Associated Press:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – Democrat Bill Owens has captured the special election for a New York congressional seat that became a fight over the identity of the Republican Party.
Owens defeated Conservative Doug Hoffman and Republican Dierdre Scozzafava (skoh-zuh-FAH’-vuh) in the heavily Republican 23rd congressional District in rural northern New York. Scozzafava abruptly withdrew Saturday and supported Owens.
Hoffman has conceded the race.
With 88 percent of the precincts reporting, Owens had 49 percent of the vote to 46 percent for Hoffman. Scozzafava had 6 percent.
The race has been getting national attention, with some calling it a referendum on President Barack Obama and others saying it could help Republicans focus their message to attract more people to the party.

"Paging Mr. Gingrich! Paging Mr. Gingrich! Please come to the podium Mr. Gingrich!"
GD!!! Hoffman would have won!!! GD!!! GD!!! GD!!!!
Down Goes Hoffman
Down Goes Beck
Down Goes Palin
One year ago the democrats made history by electing Obama and they make history again by regaining seat lost to them since the civil war.
New York seems determined to remain a depressed economic state. They love their liberal pols and keep bringing them back. Upstate NY is a disaster. Let em have one more socialist pig.
The democrats are making much bigger history by destroying our economy and our liberty. Their dirty tricks will get them in the end. Bad Karma begets bad Karma.
And losing two governor's races in states that strongly supported Obama one year ago. Or did you miss that little bit of news.
And the "IT'S ALL ACORN's FAULT!!!" thumb-sucking tantrum begins in 5…4…3…2…1…
Sorry, Mr. Gingrich has left his principles. Oops, I mean his party. Oops, I mean the building.
Bob,
you're an ass.
And how many dead people voted? And where was ACORN in all of this? Just asking.

cue the loonies!
The only close election that has an implication on the federal level, and the GOP didn't win. Our nation is fed up with Republicans!
So what?
My state of California has a Republican governor- doesn't mean that we would ever send a Republican to the White House.
Bob
Dede still took 6% of the vote. Add that to Hoffman's and the GOP would have won.
The fact is that most of the GOP voters in NY23 rejected liberal republicanism.
Dems got thrashed in the other races.
Keep on dreamin' Bob.
OMG…NAILED IT!!! ACORN Derangement Syndrome is more predictable than freakin' daylight!
…and the party just left NY-23! C-YA!!!!
Umm…you've heard of Ronald Reagan right?
This blog is so full of hatred, no wonder our country is fed up with Republicans and their wars.
Yep, proves one thing. Liberalism IS a mental disorder.
Umm… did Reagan, whom I love btw, invade a country illegally?
Who gives a crap about Governor's races? Sarah Palin quit her job as a Governor and according to the tea-baggers, it wasn't a big deal. Glenn Beck didn;t care about the Governor's races but he certainly did care about the House races in which Dems won!
On behalf of the New York Democratic Party, thank you so much! We couldn't have done it without you…LITERALLY!!!
What a shame. He should have held in there and waited for the final counts.
Not really. You know what IS mental disorder though? Not realizing what the GOP has become- a war-mongering, profit-driven party.
I was not a supporter of Dede the democrat and she is probably dancing in the streets like the fat toothless palestinian women on 911 upon hearing that Hoffman lost but I say all the more reason that she should NOT be representing the GOP. Let the democreeps win by any means the GOP will be better off in the long run.
I blame Bush for VA and NJ.
The GOP now have no choice but to find away to take back their party from the right-wing whack jobs and give a platform back to the REAL Conservatives and Republicans. And they better hurry it up before 2010 or these tea-baggers who enjoy snatching defeat from the jaws of victory will be handing more seats over to the Democrats. These tea-baggers are more effective for Liberals than a 1000 George Soros'. The NY-23 seat was an easy, no-brainer victory for Republicans only 4 weeks ago and this is how much damamge they have done in just 4 short weeks. Time to call a "political exterminator" to rid the party of the cockroaches.
Obviously your not paying attention.
Hey Bob, how come I don't see you and your merry little co-horts on the threads announcing the winners in NJ and VA. Your silence is the same as the silence from the WH. They don't want to make a statement about the results there yet. I guess theres too much crying because of all the times wasted stumping for the LOSERS.
"we'll be back"
48,000 votes and Hoffman fought the NRCC and DNCC …… to lose buy a "Dede" hair is not a bad day for a one year seat
~Death or Glory
Why don't you take your negative FLOODING of this forum elsewhere? I think you have made your point.
Hey dummy, you already posted this. Grow up or buzz off.
The only reason Bill one is because of the liberal Scozzafava who took votes away. If it wasn't for her Hoffman would have one.
Considering that I am only interested in what the Congress will look like next year, I personally don't give a damn about any races for governor.
Well lookie hear a concerned troll.
Don't wanna talk about NJ and Va that went to President Wee Weed in 2008.
Are you retarded? [rhetorical question]
No, you?
This is just the begining.
Hoffman is what had been wrong with our country between 2001 and 2008. If I lived in NY, I would've voted for the True Conservative: Dede S, and not the freedom-hating Taliban.
Well…Bush did cause the Republicans to lose those positions. But Republicans put up Moderate candidates that people like and support and *VOILA*, Republicans win the positions back! Are ya seeing the big picture here or is this too deep for ya?
Given her credentials and record, and her support for the donkey once she dropped, I think she was a donkey plant. That little gang of precinctmen should be ousted.
Teabagging? stop the homophobic self hate. Now if you want to discuss the tea parties and not your favorite activity, go ahead..
Yeah…there was a glitch. Sorry about that. Must have been ACORN's fault. LMAO!!!!
That makes no sense. She took votes from the Dem, not from Right Wing Crazy Doug.
Here's the point for you…keep your "negative candidates" out of our backyards!
Who care if another dumbass liberal became a congressman for new york… the point is RINOS are dead weight and republicans will stand on principle. No longer are republicans "playing nice". We actually are different than democrats and we have just as much right as democrats to have people represent us who actually support our values. This was a big win for the party and the country.
There is no way in hell this sticks to Palin in a bad way. All Palin did was scare the crap out of the RINOS. No point in having republicans in office if they are going to vote lock-step with the democrats.
That used to be acceptable… but no more!
Are governor races important now? When Palin quit her job as governor and abandoned her commitment to her supporters and voters, y'all said it was "no big deal" and praised here as being all sorts of "mavericky". NOW, governor races are important to you?
The beginning of what? The only certified teabagger in the bunch lost. In a district that hadn't elected a Democrat since the beginning of time.
1. It was a very close race with Hoffman running as a Conservative.
2. We won NJ.
3. We did a clean sweep in Virginia winning EVERY major seat. A year ago Obama won that state. Today he lost it big time.
4. Stop drinking the kool aid. Sugar rots your brain.
5. Sarah Palin has a best selling book. It hasn't even been released yet.
6. Glen Beck and Fox News has more viewers than CNN, HLN and MSNBC combined. Even at 3 in the morning.
Spin it all you want but the country has sent a HUGE message to your messiah.
"The GOP now have no choice but to find away to take back their party from the right-wing whack jobs and give a platform back to the REAL Conservatives and Republicans."
What a total failure to understand what is going on in this country. You need to get off the Oberman and come back to the real world.
Is reality just a deep buzz way down deep in your skull?
Yoo hoo, Dede, the Republicans would like a word with you about throwing the election to the Democrat…
Your state has a RINO who is married to a Democrat Kennedy.
Actually, the "tea-bagging" label in reference to you came from Fox News. The nerdy looking guy with glasses who likes to stalk people and was caught on tape along with a producer at the 9/12 rally inciting excitement for the "fair and balanced" news cast was the one who coined that phrase in reference to the tea party protesters. Naturally…well…you can't let a gift like that go. Sure beats the whole "liberal moonbat" thing.
The trolls are feeling their Prozac tonight, bright eyed and bushy tailed and fulla schiess. S'awright, though Hoffman should have waited. We got two out of three, and they weren't "moderates" i.e. democrats lite. Thanks for running, Doug. Don't be afraid to do it again.
Um, is every republican Bush? Bush wasn't a conservative or a republican, he was a pawn of interests of which are too complicated for this blog.
If by "the country", you mean roughly 10% of NJ and VA residents, then yes.
A guy with no personality that just entered the race put a big scare in the Dems and missed by 3 points. Maybe if the POTUS would had stumped for his opponent he would have won by 20 points.
In all the races, Hoffman was my favorite candidate, with Harmer in Cali coming in around 2nd place. It's not over for Mr. Hoffman though, I think if the GOP backs him in the normal elections he will pick the seat up from this mindless democrat vote represented by Owens.
Oh and Michael Steele and other republican moderates — don't think you're off the hook for these shenanigans. You backed Scuzzafava, who clearly is a RINO. Let me ask you something Mr. Steele — what do you stand for? What do you believe in? Are you merely a hapless and dimwitted political strategest, or do you believe in the founders and the constitution? If you believed in the constitution, you wouldn't have backed Scuzzyfava. So clearly you have no core beliefs. Step aside. Resign. GO AWAY!! CAN'T YOU SEE YOU LET A GOOD MAN DOWN?! Mr. Steele, conservatives around the country would breathe a sigh of relief if you would just go away.
not a good loss. no way to spin it. great wins in NJ and VA but this is the one everyone here was looking at. tough loss for conservatives. it is a heavy republican district. something is not right when a democrat is voted in. tough loss. we do not need liberal dems but voters also do not want to feel like they are being preached to by Beck and Palin. there was too much gloating. upstate NY are good and decent people. they felt like pawns and they rejected it. in a way, good for them.
McDonald? Moderate? Not the way I heard it, from him or from the Dems in the Old Dominion…
No sense being discouraged by Hoffman's loss. I admire his effort, but he wasn't very dynamic so likely lost the votes of the People magazine crowd in the Republican party. My takeaway from this election is the conservatives have woken up. Republican moderates and liberals likely supported Scozzafava or sat home in bitterness giving the election to Owens.
So what? Without moderates and liberals on board, conservatives lose by a few points, but as Republicans learned in 2008, when conservatives check out, the Republican moderates and liberal suffer huge losses. I sat out the 2008 Presidential election because of McCain, and I'll sit out every election without a conservative on the ballot from now on. Let's see who blinks first. If Republicans continue to assist Democrats in flushing this country down the toilet, they'll do so without my help or my vote.
uh, no, it was "look at me my hair is white" Cooper at CNN.
A lot of brain dead people voted … the overwhelming majority for Doug.
In any case, an important message has been sent.
Hoffman would have won if he had been picked in the first place.
So much for the local Republican leadership picking an "electable" "moderate" candidate instead…
???
no, SEIU's.
It's a pathetic showing when you consider that the district hadn't elected a Democrat since two centuries back.
Palin stepped aside with another conservative filling her slot. Unlike the governorships of New Jersey and Virginia which lurched far to the right with the reluctant departure of the leftist incumbent party.
You can tell the libs are nervous when they look to give "helpful" advice to the sane Americans. Sure, we're all ears. Tell us what we should do now.
CorporalO…
social conservatism in no way is in the constitution… if we want to talk card check and what not, that is fine, but major "social" issues are not defined in our great document. also, there are 3 branches to government and the constitution grants the judicial a certain amount of power… therefore, Roe v. Wade, for the time being is Constitutional. If we want to debate some of the RINOs ideas about "social conservatism" leave the constitution out of it or go back and read it.
Sarah did not drop out of a race. In fact her lieutenant stepped in and will likely win re-election.
He probably meant the freedom-hating Taliban Hoffman.
See what happens when your party is run by a bunch of "Wack" jobs….like palin, beck, looneybaugh. Be prepared for more loses in2010!!!! It's "We the people" not "They the corporations"!!!!!
You lost Jersey, the bluest of blue states. Even ACORN, Unions, gangbanging thugs, and Barry not only going there THREE times and spending ALL of Sunday stomping for corrupt Corzinze could keep Jersey blue !
And you lost Virginia, which according to Barry wouldn't ever go red again.
Ummmmmmmmmmm…..Grenada ring a bell ?
Dede tossed her vote to the democrate. Enough said.
You do realize that the republican dropped out because people saw she was actually a Dem in disguise. And if Hoffman had half a personality he would have won by a landslide. I can't wait for 2010 when Dems will be crying in their cereal the next morning wondering what happened.
Getting rid of Taliban begins at home! Get freedom-hating GOPhers our of the United States!!!
We're not exactly for the corparations you dope, if you haven't noticed it's not conservatives handing out the bailouts.
Actually you did it with the help of the idiots in the RNC, Newt, and the GOP pols who stupidly picked Suzzyfuzzy in the first place.
Not bad for a 3rd party candidate that did not get support till the last 3 weeks. Anything over 35% was a good show. This seat is back in play in a year. This sent a message to the RINO's that they better not forget.
Well, Democrats are better than freedom-hating Taliban, that's for sure.
"Tell us what we should do now.
" — ummmm….stop handing seats over to the Democrats? It's a start.
go back to your socialist slave owners.
The absentee ballots were sent in before Scuzzyfuzzy withdrew. I bet they would have made a big difference.
You can try to spin what happened tonight, but it isn't going to work.
Actually it is…but its a socialistic view…sorry repukes but it not in your favor…"Promote the general Welfare"…"Provide for the common defence", secure the "Blessing of Liberty to ourselves"…dang..all socialist views….notice it does not mention the corporate whores that your party supports!!!! Its based on "WE THE PEOPLE" which means that corporations should be supporting and bettering the middle class through HIGHER taxes…"WE THE PEOPLE" not the 1% superrich and corporate politicians !!!!
bryan…I'm considered the troll here but you're 100% right! When you have part of Hoffman's entourage labeling our issues and subsequently us "parochial", you're not going to win over enough votes to win the election. That was an insult to us.
And Owens is not a liberal Dem. He's a moderate.
the lesson from this is that there must be a middle road… in a very heavy republican district a democrat won over a conservative. this does not mean we need to sacrifice conservative values but there needs to be something in between Limbaugh, Beck, Palin and moderates like Scarborough, Gingrich etc. Reagan had very strong beliefs but he never said "you can not be part of my party if you disagree on an issue or two"… I am not advocating Scoffazza (sp?) type candidates but something between her and Hoffman without the knowitallism of Beck and Palin would do this party good on a national level… AGAIN, a heavy Republican district just went to a democrat when the entire conservative stage was set on NY23… they voted against it and you can bet we will see more of the same if it stays this way in '10 (though we will pick up seats) and '12 (which is lost if we do not look honestly at how Reagan campaigned and governed)
He was not talking about Conservatives, but about the GOP.
As much as I wanted Hoffman to win, I'd much rather have the win in Jersey; it sends a much louder message.
The Dems were dancing in the streets, a year ago, claiming that Virginia would never be a red state ever again. How very wrong they were!
Jersey is not only one of the very bluest of blue states, but the voter fraud and corruption there are what legends are made from.
To have the GOP sweep through both iof these states, tonight, should be a really big wake-up call to the Dems; Obama is NOT someone who can help you win an election nor a re-election !
And next year, Owens will lose that seat; mark my words !
I can't find corporate backed K-street lobbyists and their astro-turf fronts like Freedomworks and the Club For Growth in the Constitution. I looked! I can't find them!
Uh guess what…IT WAS BUSH STUPID!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA The economy is coming around and Obama has only been in a short time….HAHAHAHA..Dems are making history by destroying your party!!!!!! HAHAHAHA…and your right YOUR dirty tricks and lies will get you in the "END"….HAHAHAHA "We the people" are taking control again!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!!!
And the Democrats hope you keep up the good work and keep sending those "messages".
You, as a liberal, do not know what he was talking about and thus, as a liberal, should go to bed savoring the fact that the health care bill is now effectively defunct.
NY 23 ia gonna get what they deserve! Too bad that the rest of the freaking country has to live with it too. Doug will win next year in the regular election.
Instead of worrying about real issues affecting this country (like jobs, the economy, troops at war, etc.) the White House decided to spend the evening blogging on Big Government. Keep it coming liberals, we've only just begun.
ENOUGH with the positive spin! we were gloating that this seat was ours… go back and look at anything Rove or BEck or Palin said… THEY WERE WRONG! in a Republican district the people chose a liberal over a conservative. how is this good for the Republican party? i don't care that is was a third party… a conservative lost to a liberal in an extremely traditional Republican district. reevaluation is needed… there is common ground.. not in the Scoffazza sense but between her and Hoffman without all the noise from Beck and Palin. the average person (republican or democrat or independent) does not like them and does not want to be told they are doing what they are told. How is this not obvious? how can we spin this positive? what is wrong with you people?
Owens has 1 year in which to dutifully toe the Pelosi line as blowback for this. Then he should be toast, and NY 23 should be Republican for another century or so after the party leaders screwed up by backing Dede.
That's because republicans are trying to stick their balls over everyone eyes…thats why they use that term…so we wont see that they are corrupt and out of touch with "We the people"…..it does not say "They the corporations"!!!!! Get a clue and read the constitution!!!! It's based on a socialistic view….HAHAHAHA
The only gangbanging thugs are corporations that have retarded idiots like you believing their message…….restore the tax breaks that Ronnie the "pee on the peons" Reagan gave the corporate whores!!!!! They are here for the "Public good" as the "Founders" intended!!!!!
Scuzzyfuzzy…that's kinda funny.
Spin what? You lost! Beat it!
The "public" option is alive a soon to be passed….no thanks to the Party of NO!!!!! It's about time for "We the People"!!!!
How many Republicans did the corporations buy…..ALL OF THEM!!!!!…….hahahaha
no he just pardon them……..HAHAHA It's illegal employers, not illegal aliens…….without jobs they would go back home!!!!!! Thanks Ronnie and the Repuketins!!!!! Lowering wages for all!!!!
The real Franklin is rolling in his grave, because you have used his name for your nic.
Take your MARXIST rant and comfort yourself with your envy. It won't do you any good, but at least it's something. Your class warfareitis is appalling and shameful.
But what makes you think that big corporations haven't/don't support your boy Barry and his MARXIST crap? They do!
And besmirching President Reagan is beyond stupid.
Go away you toady troll.
Actually the reason the repugs dont want health care reform is that they would be able to go and get help for their disorder and would no longer want to be republican but would join the Party of "We the people"…ie democrat!!! HAHAHAHA
"how can we spin this positive?"
Much easier than the Dems can spin NJ and VA where Obama campaigned and lost.
Obama lost big time tonight, he is losing the war.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight; that's why we have PRESIDENT MCCAIN. :-[
While Cristie isn't a conservative's CONSERVATIVE, he isn't a damned squishy moderate ( RINO ) and he won tonight.
McDonnell is NOT a damned squishy moderate either and he won BIG !
There goes your idiotic theory………….blown to bits!
Nope…………….YOU lost and lost BIG! So YOU beat it!
Obama lost everywhere he campaigned. Maybe he should stay home and do some work.
New Jersey is the bluest of blue states? When did that happen? I thought it was Massachusetts that was aways the bluest of blue states. Then there's Maryland which is more blue than Jersey and then Vermont, Washington, Oregon, etc.
Governor races come and go. It's the House and Senate seats that are a referendum when it comes to people voting for candidates that are going to be in a position to further the President's agenda.
You're absolutely right Lynne!!! That's why we voted you and your kind out of office to election cycles in a row! It was karma!
Sorry but the "Founders" are rolling in their grave over how you party has corrupted the constitution to favor corporations over "We the people"….your party is the MARXIST party…ie one that is controlled by corporations not "We the people" which is what the "Founders" did not want……they overthrew a corporate run government ie the East India tea company!!!! Ronnie was a NUT job!!!!!
"You the People" are pawns for "They the (democratic) Slave Owners"
You really don't understand politics at all.
Of course the N.J. and Va. governor rfaces are HUGE ! Jersey is and has been an extremely blue state and corrupt to boot. Last year, when Barry took Va., the Dems were all over every station proclaiming that it would never go for the GOP ever again. As a matter of fact, their stupid claim was : "THE TIDE HAS TURNED". Well, yes, that "tidxe" turned again, tonight…………………BIG TIME !
We're depressed? We're a disaster? When did this happen?
I mean, I know we got screwed during the Bush years pretty bad and Hoffman's entourage labeled us and our issues "parochial" but things seemed to have begun turning around for New York in the past 10 months. Our unemployment numbers are a hell of a lot lower than most of the Red states that's for sure.
Hoffman never attended a TEA PARTY !
Using that homosexual term, that almost nobody ever heard of, until the idiot MSNBC queers used it, shows just how pathetic you are.
Yeah, and since Republicans now run New Jersey and now lead Democrats on who is most trusted to handle every major issue from the military to taxes to the economy to healthcare for the first time in years…not that fed up. What you're seeing is the death of liberalism in the US and it only took 10 months. I'm so freakin' happy!!!
Why can nobody here understand that there are Conservatives that don't support Obama, but despise the freedom-hating Taliban, like Hoffman and Palin, even more???
And Franklin along with the MAJORITY of the founders set up another socialist program……The Post Office……HAHAHAHA…lets see socialist military..socialist police dept….socialist fire dept….socialist welfare under Washington…..socialist "Promote the general Welfare"…..socialist "To form a more perfect union"…….for ALL of us…which you term socialism….what a dumb toady troll u are!!!!!
Well…he didn't lose NY-23 or CA-10 and those are the only candidates that will be in a position (House seats) to further the President's agenda. Now why on Earth would the American people, the massive tea-protesting majority of Americans elect to candidates that can help further the President's agenda? Hmmmmm…..I wonder why? Hmmmmmm??????
I smell a rat like the A-holes er Acorn and union thugs, same old demacrap playbook=Cheating and fraud. This guy was up 5 points a couple of days ago. That fat hog Scuzzafava the stealth libera whol helped to screw this election. As for Michael Steele he is lame affirimative action pick for the RNC. We need to clean these deadwood RINOS out!
This seat is only for one year, they will have to elect again next November, we will be ready then!
Jersey is just as blue as the other states you named. It's a pity that you love to post about that which you do not know.
Oh don't worry; the GOP will get that NY 23 seat back in a year. It was the local GOP idiots who wrecked havoc with that seat and something that they will now NEVER live down !
Hey…………………..pssssssssssssssssssssssssst……………………here's a hint………………governors play a very large role in elections; that's but one reason why tonight's blowouts in Jersey and Va. are a big deal. Go do some research on the topic.
What common ground Bryan? WHAT COMMON GROUND? High taxes, weak military, government run industries? Rushing to pass healthcare legislation no matter how bad it is? Abortion? Abortion or social issues weren't in play here. So what stinking common ground are you talking about? Seriously!!! Even if you're talking about global warming or something like that, even if I as a conservative agreed with a liberal that it was an issue, I wouldn't want their dishonest solution! So if you can tell us what common ground you're talking about I might think you're for real. But you're probably just a troll disturbed like the other trolls on this wonderful night.
No its was the (republican) corporate, they want cheap labor, Slave Owners……
And losing two governor's races in states that strongly supported Obama one year ago. Or did you miss that little bit of news.
No, they're frantically trumpeting barely winning NY-23 so they can ignore those little bits of news. Sort of like a small child putting his finger in his ears and humming. In this case they're humming "We won NY-23! LALALALALALA!!"
I like all the thumbs down some people are getting. Is there a thumbs down for a party with no real economic plan other than letting big business slither in and out of the country taking jobs and tax cuts but not creating any jobs? Go ahead and thumbs down away but there is no real rebuttal to improving the economy, which is more important than a thumbs down opinion.
I don't understand politics at all? Are either one of these two governors in a position to further the so called "Pelosi/Obama" agenda in the House of Representatives? Even if the Democrats had won these 2 governor elections, would either one of them be in a position to further the "Pelosi/Obama" agenda in the House of Representatives? Hmm? Either one? Like oh lets say CA-10 and NY-23? Either one of those 2 governors have seats in the House of Representatives like CA-10 and NY-23? Either one?
So let me get this straight, the voters of CA-10 and NY-23 purposely elected 2 Democrat officials to the House of Representatives KNOWING that they would be in positions to further the "Pelosi/Obama" agenda and the tide has turned how? Governors? Are you kidding me?
Ditto Darrly!!!!! They are the party of "Cheap" Labor no matter who it hurts!!!! Fine the Employers and there would be no immigration problem!!!! No jobs no illegals!!!!
Oh…you obviously haven't heard have you:
http://biggovernment.com/2009/11/03/ap-hoffman-lo...
Wow, you live up to your handle. Nice little game you have warping syntax to suit your purposes.
Under the circumstances Palin faced, resigning wasn't as bad as you guys are so desperately shrieking about. Neither Democrat who lost their bid for governor faced those circumstances. They just faced the will of the people. You know, the thing you guys were crowing about a year ago? Guess you thought that it was the end all of everything and you didn't have to worry about future elections.
Oops. Guess you were wrong.
Not only are you unable to write a cogent, coherent, grammatically correct sentence, but you don't know what Marxism is, nor anything whatsoever about this nation's FFs.
FYI……………….the FFs though that the populace were far too stupid to be able to elect a suitable president. That's one of the reasons that the Electoral College was set up. As a matter of fact, they truly believed that most times, the EC count would end in a tie and so the Senate ( Senators were not elected back then, but rather picked by those in the party that had the majority in each state ) would then make the final and binding decision.
The Boston Tea Party was about TAXES; not about the company who was shipping the tea to Boston !
Never managed to get past the third grade, did you?
You use the word, but I don't think it means what you think it does.
(Why is it when I read one of the prog trolls pontificate on something, that quote from The Princess Bride always comes to mind?)
The party of "NO" is going down……..
pssssstttt…I did! You didn't give a crap about the Governor races until a couple of hours ago when you lost NY-23. psssssttttt….it only matters to you now because it's all you got. Psssstttttt….funny stuff huh?
Once again a prog troll uses a word that does not mean what he thinks it means.
Sad, sad state of education.
Hint: Socialism is government control of the means of production, not a government service like a police department, fire department, post office, military, etc.
And the "IT'S ALL ACORN's FAULT" thumb-sucking tantrum begins in 5…4…3…2…1…
Possibly in New Jersey…
Police departments are NOT run by the federal government.
There is no such a thing as a federal government run Fire Department and many, in this nation aren't even funded by the city or town they are in; they're all volunteer.
The Post Office is and it's a disaster.
Okay, you just proved that you known less than nothing about this government, the FFs, any American history at all, the meaning of the word "SOCIALISM", and how to use the English language.
I suggest that you go back to whence you came and sulk in a corner. Whatever your purpose was, in coming here, you have failed and failed miserably. Your parents must be soooooooooooooo proud……………………….NOT !
Oh, he can't do that. He has to take what little he can and hammer it. All in a pathetic attempt to destroy the morale of those who disagree with him so they'll give up and let him have his way.
Not going to happen. About all he can do is flood the comments section and hopes it disrupts discussion.
Really? How is that? By sending more jobs overseas? Actually I think that is because business is making a profit from the cost of living differential from the US compared to developing nations. But have no fear. Once we are as poor as a developing country guess where big business will flock to? Tell you great grand kids jobs will be returning in about 60 to 70 years. But I hate to tell in the mean time what that will do to our military and the veterans that served this nation.
He heard. He also knows there were other elections that didn't go quite the way you wanted so you'll have to cling to NY-23 as your security blanket and keep humming real loud.
Yeah boy…Sarah Bara-quitter, the professional whiner and victim can sure pick the winners eh? Now tell that unemployed teen social network blogger to stop robo-calling my house or I'll press harassment charges against the idiot!
I really think this race should be investigated thoroughly – this was the one where all the real conservatives smelled rotten ACORN and the Unions. Can someone tell me why when dede wasn't forced to hand back to the RNC the $900.000 they put into her campaign? Why wasn't Mr. Steele all over the news demanding the refund of the said funds? Also, ACORN and the SEIU came out in full force to say they would have battled if Hoffman won? I smell a huge rat named : ACORN with Scozzafava's husband Ron McDougall.

Breaking: ACORN expected to Protest Election Results Tomorrow in Clinton County
http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2009/11/02/b...
wat do you do, just come here and type a bunch of keys to throw some words together and post them?
Cheap labor = illegal immigrants, illegal workers. Name me a few conservatives who are for that.
The people in NY 23 were going to be on the losing side, with old lefty Scuzzyfuzzy or Owens.
OTOH, ObamaCare is in big trouble in the Senate and Prince Harry said, just today, that there won't be a vote, in the Senate until NEXT YEAR; which leaves the House cooling its heels. Next year is a BIG election…………………..all of the House members ( which includes Owens ; Cal. is a lost cause ) and 1/2 of the Senate seats on the line.
Governors play a big role in elections ( if they didn't, why would it matter to presidents WHO is the governor of any state? )………….go look it up.
And FYI…………………no matter how hard Barry wants to force fed this nation's populace his SOCIALIST claptrap, most are now rejecting it. Ergo, the Blue Dogs aren't going to want to be defeated next November and probably won't play ball with Pelosi and Reid.
And no, you really and truly don't understand politics at all.
You can't count, I guess. Two centuries = 200 years. Clinton County hasn't sent a Dem to the House since the Civil War. The Civil War too place between 1861 and 1865. The year, right now, is 2009.
Do you know how to dxo simple subtraction ?
Oh GOD NO!!! We don't want to destroy your morale!!! My gosh, we want you to keep going with your messages and energy!!! You're more valuable than a 1000 George Soros' and have stole more votes for Democrats than a million ACORNs. Keep up the great work! NY-23 was comfortably Republican 4 weeks ago until you people came in and pulled some of that "Liberal magic" for the Democrats. Thank you!!!
Spot on; great post !
Yeah but the ones actually in a position to further the President's agenda, House of Representative seats CA-10 and NY-23 were elected by the people for the people. These are the ones that were very important to your opinion generators up until about 15 minutes after you lost them.
Part of the Hoffman loss is also attributable to the fact that he was on the Conservative Party line ( most people look at the two major party lines, when they vote ) and the fact that mail in ballost awere sent in long before Scuzzyfuzzy's "troubles" began and her backing out.
…and when called on it, he'll try reverse psychology and wonder why it isn't working either.
[...] Doug Hoffman has conceded. Over at RedState, Erick Erickson explains why conservatives still won in NY-23, and Third Base [...]
If NY-23 is any indication of the same "Liberal Magic" you've been pulling in other elections since 2006, Barry doesn't have anything to worry about. He'll lose a few but not enough to make a difference.
There is absolutely NOTHING in the Constitution about about corporations having to pay blindingly high tgaxes to support a MARXIST "UTOPIA".
The word "welfare" doesn't mean what you think it does; it wasn't the DOLE !
There are corporate "whores" alright and they fund the DEMS and far lefty organizations ! They also get big breaks from the Dems…your "dear leader", that empty suit in the White House gives them lots and lots and lots of my tax money.
Go away kidx…………you're not only mentally unstable, but you're a moron. No wonder you're a lefty.
Unlike President Bush the younger, who unusually GAINED GOP seats in both Houses in the 2002 and 2004 election; Barry is going be in the more usual circumstance of losing seats in both Houses! He'll find himself without Pelosi in 2011 and no filibuster proof majority in the Senate.
Are you old enough to remember 1994?
There is no calling on it. It is what it is and it doesn't cost the Democrats a dime!
The opinion generators and their obedient acolytes such as yourself accused Scozzafava of being "the candidate of the Workers Family Party" when the truth is, Owens was the candidate of the Workers Family Party. You took votes away from the Republican and gave them to the Workers Family Party candidate and subsequently brought him to victory. All because you took what you were told as gospel without having enough common sense to research if what you were being told was even the truth or not. Hopefully, wew can rely on more of that incompetence next year? We sure hope so!!!
If that is really the case, then you must not count on him to go along with crazy Nancy's yearnings to push through all manner of SOCIALISTIC garbage. Owens' seat, as are all of the rest of the House seats, will be up for grabs in exactly 364 days.
Neither can Ben; nor can he or you find the likes of GE, Goldman Sachs, or the uber Liberal version of K Street.
See what happens when you have a bunch of sting Commies/MARXISTS in the White House, the House, and the Senate? People, yes, WE THE PEOPLE rebel and will doing everything in our power to oust them !
It isn't the GOPers who want to rule every inch of your life, from cradle to grave; what you are allowed to eat, what kind of health cares you should be allowed to get……….or not, what cars you may drive…..down to the color of them, what color the roof of your abode is permitted to be, how much you are allowed to earn, what volunteer work you are allowed to participate in, or whether or not you have to participate at all ! Nope, that's the Dems and Barry in particular.
Try to look at just how President Reagan did campaign and govern. He didn't do either as a "moderate", as a RINO, nor even as a Dem-lite.
Owens won the NY 23 for a rather pedestrian and simple reason……………..the idiot GOP team picked SCUZZYFUZZY, who is further to the left than the Dem, Owens is.
Hoffman is the anti-Obama! A real human without teleprompters who we doesn't send thugs to beat up the opposition if they don't go along with the extra-constitutional social engineering.
That was a great effort coming out of nowhere — We need more Hoffmans!
We need an RNC that will back Hoffmans. Why was a liberal democrat, Dede, get on the ticket anyway?
Newt, you got some 'splaynin to do……
.
If anyone is like the Taliban, it's Obama, Holder, Pelosi, Reid, Rangle, Rahm the ballet dancer and his brother, Dr. Mengle Emanuel, and especially Valerie Jarrett; to name but a slight few.
Ask Moby.
You have to love Liberals. They lose all the slots in Virginia by a landslide. They lose New Jersey, despite 5 visits by His Highness, giving a multi-millionaire 3 1/2 million more for campaigning, and endless attempts to paint Christie as Bsuh. Health Care reform is dead for the year (and hopefully forever…at least as Nancy Pelosi tries to define it). Cap & Trade is a distant memory. Unemployment isn't moving, despite Obama spending us into oblivion. The "growth" we experienced is hugely attributable to the stimulus spending (which is counted as more important by the economic formula than actual business investments), and will drop off next quarter. None of Obama's cow-towing to foreign despots has yielded a single benefit…not one single concession by any country we are presently at odds with.
But this Lib-tard is on here crowing because a low-level seat went to a Democrat for 1 year. Pretty much says it all, doesn't it?
No bailouts, lower taxes, don't push through CAP&TRADE, don't put taxes on financial transaction, and don't pass Obamacare. Oh yes, there really are quite a few ways to make the economy blossom. Unfortunately, none of it is anything at all t5hat Obama andx the Dems want to, or will even consider doing.
….and the evasion and canned responses (really, how much have I said about Scozzafava at all on this blog) begins.
But it's those icky others who are "obedient acolytes" of "opinion generators"? Someone's projecting.
Oh sorry, did you expect me to bother getting into a conversation with you? To feed your need for attention?
Funny, you made the exact same comment on another thread. I guess originality isn't one of your skills….
Well, rest my case on this one.
Is there a point?
GE are Republican party contributors. Google it! As far as Goldman Sachs and that level of BS and the power they have been given in our economic policy decisions, I'm on the same page as you on that one. That ain't right at all! Something we agree on.
How cute. He thinks he had a case.
You're wrong about GE. Jeffrey Immelt is a huge DEM. GE owns NBC and NBCs cable stuff. I have seen the DEM donation lists and GE is prominant contributor.
Goldman Sachs has had it's fingers in government for a rather long time andx has really messed things up!
"Wall Street " ( though that truly is a misnomer, due to the fact that the banks shouldn't be lumped in with the exchanges ! ) has been DEM for a long time now.
Gee wiz……………….don't you even listen to the news? HARRY REID SAID, TODAY, THAT OBAMACARE WILL NOT BE BROUGHT TO A VOTE, IN THE SENATE, UNTIL NEXT YEAR !
Now pay attention………………..
The House and the Senate bills aren't even fully written.
Before both Houses can even vote on a Bill, each House must separately pass their own Bill.
Then both Bills musgt be consolidated.
Once that is done, then both Houses vote on that Bill.
If that Bill doesn't pass either/both Houses, then it must be reworked and sent back to the floor olf each House to be voted on.
THERE IS NO BILL, UNTIL IT HAS BEEN PASSED BY BOTH HOUSES ! THEN AND ONLY THEN DOES IT GET SENT TO THE PRESIDENT TO BE SIGNED OR VETOED.
THERE IS NO PUBLIC OPTION, RIGHT NOW, TO BE PASSED !
You truly are a complete and utter moron !
You're right and wrong on GE. They have contributed to them both. Only recently has GE become a Dem contributor because of all the green energy incentives since GE is way ahead of the curve on green energy technology. This is why I'm against Cap & Trade because capitalism and our free market can do a better job with our environment then government intervention on an enforcement level. Instead, government would do better with an incentive level (tax cuts, etc.). I don't play into that Liberal media nonsense because it's "corporate" media. News Corp is no different. If you divide people against each other, you can conquer them all and in the case of NBC and Fox, sell more Lexus'.
Historically, it was mostly Dems who owned slaves.
And believe or not, many blacks owned slaves, when it was legal.
"Cheap labor" isn't "slavery" and as usual, you don't know what you're talking about !
Doles your mommy know that you're up so late and using the computer; kid?
GE has been a HUGE Dem contributor since Immelt took the reigns.
And yes, they/he wants to make a pile out of the damned "GREEN HYSTERIA".
Neither NBC nor its "news" cable programs, together, have the ratings FOX does and for good reasons.
I'm delighted to see that you are against CAP&TRADE and for the FREE MARKET; there may be hope for you yet.
That makes a few things which we now have seen eye to eye on, though I am completely against the "greenie" stuff ! As long as I am not somehow forced into using those crappy light bulbs ( they induce migraines ), frankly, I don't care if others use them; each to his own.
There's another thing we agree on…those swirly lightbulbs? I hate those freakin' things! They induce headaches and make your family look like zombies. lol
Newt's an idiot and has been a RINO for quite some time now.
He was quite good at being a backbencher, but was unable to really handle the power, once he got it. Now, being out of office and irrelevant, is making him more than a bit unhinged and worst of all, he's an attention whore.
We seem to be finding quite a lot of common ground. Should both of begin to worry, or just admit that perhaps we are reasonable people?
FYI………….not only do those bulbs causes migraines, make everyone look like escapees from a bad production of THE MUNSTERS, but they are also very dangerous, when broken. You have to call in a HAZMET team to clean up the spilt mercury.
I only have ! thing to say, and I say it with sarcasm here goes nothing!
THANKS ACORN for once agin stealing another election you reputation is for being the biggest theif of the United States of America's political system is still stong as ever, So with warning I say good luck ACORN time is not on your side.
Good points, Lynne, I couldn't agree more. That you're on target is pretty well illustrated by the knee-jerk response you got from the two trolls, "Syntax_game" and some oaf with the unmitigated gall to call itself "Ben Franklin" while spouting idiotic drivel and rooting for the destruction of everything Franklin stood for.
I'm sure we are reasonable people but I know I have my moments as I'm sure you do to. I'm sure we will be "locking horns" again my friend but at least now we know that we're both respectable people.
If I disrespected you beyond a reasonable debate, I apologize. And if I do it again, just let me know. I get carried away and may need to be slapped! lol
CorporalO, I don't think Michael Steele is one of the bad guys. I could be wrong in believing it was the NRCC rather than the RNC promoting the Dede monster, I'm not really up on that, but I am aware that there was a lot of table-thumping against Steele and inter-Party fighting when he was first elected to head the RNC. Clearly there are some elements in the Party (National and individual states; Illinois is a mess, re: state GOP) who would probably be more "comfy" working for the Dems, but I don't think Steele is one of them.
As to GOP liberals trying to pass as "moderates," I'm with you.
still waiting for you to respond to the challenge from the fabrizio mcClaughlin post yesterday – nothing to say, (that makes sense) or when truth arrives you skulk off ? does`nt matter – you show your immense logic and political savvy all over the net.we are all in awe.
WAIT A MINUTE HERE……….a no name politucal neophyte with sound conservative ideals (and an unfortuate lack of charisma…hey just saying…not a problem for me…personally sick of all flash and style and ZERO substance) runs on a third party ticket and comes within 2 points of winning….how can this possibly be seen as a horrible thing or some sort of positive vote for Obama. There was NO Republican running! If you think this is some sort of repudiation of
Republicans or a resounding "atta boy" for Obama your brain must be scrambled from all the spin in the media these days.
Let's not forget that Hoffman is a republican who only ran on the conservative party brand because the GOP fixers froze him out. Scuzzy dropping out benefited Owens more than Hoffman, which is clear from the final outcome. If she had stayed in, Hoffman probably would have won in a real three way race.
I say let's (truthfully) lay out what the candidates stand for and let us (the voters) decide who's the Republican and Democrat. Seems to me that we had a 'discrepancy' in what one candidate labeled herself, and the principles and platform that she espoused. Statements and intentions never outweigh actions. You are what you are and do…and not just what you say.
I see this extremely close race as a victory for conservatives.
Add one more liberal politician to the bunch and you will get an even faster fall into where this insane government is leading our country. By 2012 people will be fighting mad because they will truly see how awful and oppressive the government is. They will either stand up screaming hell no we won't take it anymore and we can clean house on both sides of the aisle, or we can just plain give up our liberty and freedoms and everything that made this country so great and set it apart from all others.
Meanwhile, I am making my first ever trip to DC to support Michele Bachmann with boots on the ground.
My battle cry is DON'T TREAD ON ME!
In the imortal words of Ron White…" You can't fix stupid"!!
Uh, thanks Newt.
Black people made history by actually voting for a black man for president – it was a one shot event. Black people will never support a dem white candidate with the same fervor. You take out the emboldened block of black voters who never saw the inside of voting booth until a black man had a shot, AND you take out the ticked off Reps mad at Bush sending a protest vote to OBama – then you have McCain, who would have been a disaster. Democrats will eat themselves this election cycle and Obama has destroyed any chance for improving race relations for a another few decades.
And Hello Mr. Astorino!! Spano out in Westchester is a bigger story than NY23.
When are the ACORN drivers ever going to produce a record of arrest with their accusations? ACORN encourages people to get out and vote. That's a civil duty. And to some that is a bad thing. Great constitutional logic there.
I knew two days ago that Hoffman would lose, unfortunately. Had nothing to do with the polls, but with comments of locals I was reading who were sick of national politicos telling them how and for whom they should vote. Many of the votes for Owens were "protest" votes against so much help coming from outside the district to Mr. Hoffman. Don't overlearn a lesson here — NY-23 will go Republican a year from now. But they'll do it their own way next time. And we of the Tea Party persuasion need to watch how heavy a hand we use. Learn the right lessons, and let's do better next time. VA and NJ were HUGE (!!!!!!) wins, and should make everyone at the White House shudder.
Professional whiner? Ha ha, that would be Obama.
Pick the winners? Hey idiot, it was Obama who swooped in (how many times) to campaign for the gubernatorial losers. And in cased you missed it, Dede the libtard dropped out because Hoffman was trouncing her.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
A relative newcomer got nearly 45% of the vote after only one month on the campaign trail and with the GOP candidate actively campaigning for his opposition? Really, how bad of a result is that?
So he didn't win. Dede Scozzafava only got 5% of the vote. She may have lost by more–she never had a chance.
Good show Hoffman! You should be proud of yourself!
Your idiocy knows no bounds. Under Reagan, there was upward mobility; upper-class grew, lower-class shrank.
I know that is failure for libtards who prefer collectivist misery.
"They the corporations"?
Ha ha, fool; Wall Street donated (by far) more money to Obama.
Your stupidity is really embarrassing, even for a libtard.
Ha ha, it's your Messiah who didn't give a crap about the Governor races (Gibbs: Obama not following election results) after REPEATEDLY campaigning for the losers.
Too funny!
What a fool you are. Federal level? Nation fed up?
It was a local election and Owens got less than 50% of the vote.
Conservatives owe NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman immeasurable gratitude. He overcame impossible odds (single digits just a month ago) to come within two points of defeating Democrat Bill Owens. Hoffman had zero name recognition. National Republican Party officials dumped nearly $1 million into the race on behalf of radical leftist GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava, who then turned around, endorsed Owens and siphoned off 5 percent of the vote with her name still on the ballot after she dropped out.
Conservatives’ money went to pay for specious attack ads against Hoffman run by the NRCC like this.
Conservatives’ money went to support a GOP candidate who shares the same socialist alliances with fellow SEIU/ACORN/New Party/Working Families Party activist Patrick Gaspard, the Obama White House political director who intervened in the race to secure Scozzafava’s endorsement of Owens.
Hoffman’s candidacy illuminated the stark difference between GOP political opportunists willing to pimp out their endorsements to any old ACORN-embracing, Working Families Party-consorting, Big Labor crony who puts an “R” by her name — and movement conservatives who refuse to “mooooderate” for the politically expedient sake of mooooderation as dictated by out-of-touch Beltway party leaders. The NRCC/RNC’s $1 million debacle will cost much more than that.
As I’ve repeated many times over the last several weeks:
One thing is guaranteed at the conclusion of the NY-23 special congressional election: The Beltway Republicans who endorsed radical leftist Dede Scozzafava are going to have indelible egg stains on their faces. And GOP establishment fund-raising organizations will be the poorer for it.
To illustrate the point: This blog now has a regular feature spotlighting readers’ RNC rejected solicitation forms of the day.
Today’s rejected RNC donor form comes from reader Bud:
Which brings me to my syndicated column today.
Let me see, you are claiming that the form of government we have in the United States of America is a democracy. I have some bad news for you, it isn't. Probably time for you to go back to school and take government 101.
Well, the candidate Newt Gingrich endorsed by proxy through Scozzafava won, so he should be happy. Right?
Don't like profits? I guess you work for free.
Conservatives owe NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman immeasurable gratitude. He overcame impossible odds (single digits just a month ago) to come within two points of defeating Hoffman may have lost narrowly, but NY-23 is a much broader victory for conservatives who believe the Republican Party should stand for core limited government principles. Scozzafava, who was endorsed by far Left blogger Markos Moulitsas Zuniga and backed by Planned Parenthood, the National Education Association, and card-check-promoting trade unions, was denied the congressional seat because movement conservatives refused to support Arlen Specter in a skirt. This is a victory of principle.
Better a donkey in office that acts like a donkey than a donkey in elephant’s clothing making a complete ass of the GOP.
Moreover, NY-23 is a victory for conservatives who refuse to be marginalized in the public square by either the unhinged left or the establishment right. A humble accountant from upstate New York exposed the hypocrisy of GOP leaders trying to solicit funds from conservatives by lambasting Pelosi and the Dems’ support for high taxes, Big Labor, and bigger government — while using conservatives’ money to subsidize a high-taxing, Big Labor-pandering, bigger government radical. The repercussions will be felt well beyond NY-23’s borders. Conservatives’ disgust with the status quo has been heard and felt. They have been silent too long. They will be silent no more.
The GOP leadership knows it cannot afford to rest on its laurels, continue business as usual, and bask in yesterday’s electoral victories without confronting its abysmal abdication of principled conservative leadership in NY-23.
As Hoffman said in his concession speech, “This is only one fight in the battle.”
Onward. Upward. Rightward. Bill Owens.
Conservatives owe NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman immeasurable gratitude. He overcame impossible odds (single digits just a month ago) to come within two points of Here is one of the loudest messages of the 2009 off-off-year elections: Conservatives in America will no longer let their opponents define them out of the mainstream. They will not submit to Democrats. Or to the media. Or to Beltway Republican capitulationists. They will not “rebrand.” They will not sit down. They will not shut up.
Just this past weekend, Democrat Rep. Jim Moran attacked the Republican candidates for governor and attorney general in his state of Virginia as the “Taliban ticket.”
New York Times columnist Frank Rich decried the Right’s “Jacobins” and “Stalinists” who he said joined a “putsch” by supporting Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over ACORN-embracing, Big Labor-promoting, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, tax-and-spend Republican Dede Scozzafava in New York’s 23rd congressional special election.
And senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett told ABC’s “This Week” that the grass-roots conservative-vs.-GOP leadership battle over NY-23 showed that the Republican Party leadership was “becoming more and more extreme, and more and more marginalized.”
Let’s talk “extreme.” Valerie Jarrett is the White House official who bragged openly about recruiting disgraced Marxist rabble-rouser Van Jones for the green jobs czar post. She lavished praise on his public career and said she had followed him “for as long as he’s been active out in Oakland.” In Oakland, Jones was working to dismantle California’s juvenile justice system, pitting minorities against police officers, and crusading to free Death Row cop-killer Mumia abu Jamal.
Who are you calling “extreme?”
Jarrett’s White House colleague Patrick Gaspard, Obama’s political director who intervened in the race to convince Scozzafava to endorse the Democrat candidate Bill Owens after she dropped out, was a top organizer at the militant Local 1199 chapter of the Service Employees International Union and an activist/organizer for the New Party and the Working Families Party – both ACORN/Democratic Socialist Association front groups.
Who are you calling “extreme?”
“It’s rather telling,” Jarrett sniffed, “when the Republican Party forces out a moderate Republican and it says, I think, a great deal about where the Republican Party leadership is right now.” It’s rather telling that the White House persists with this pointless marginalization strategy as Gallup polls show conservatives continuing to outnumber moderates and liberals across America.
As I pointed out in my Oct. 16 column, there was never anything moderate about Scozzafava. There was no fiscal conservatism to balance her social radicalism. It wasn’t merely that she was “pro-choice.” But that she was a proud recipient of a pro-abortion award named after eugenics proponent Margaret Sanger.
It wasn’t merely that she favored higher government spending. But that she supported the stimulus that every single House Republican in office opposed, on top of her support for the union-expanding card-check bill, on top of her ambiguous statements on the energy tax-imposing cap-and-trade bill.
Newt Gingrich, who foolishly stood with Scozzafava until she threw herself under the bus over the weekend, piously invoked Reagan and condemned the extreme “purism” of unruly conservatives who wouldn’t keep quiet about Scozzafava’s radical Left agenda.
But conservatives are not demanding “purity.” They are simply abiding by Reagan’s own wise counsel in 1975: “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.”
The Republican National Committee and National Republican Congressional Committee threw an estimated $900,000 down the toilet for a candidate whose core views and political alliances undermined conservatism’s fundamental beliefs in limited government from day one. It was a reckless expenditure of the GOP base’s hard-earned money and a bitter tuition bill for a teachable moment on the perils of political expediency.
The days when immoderate political operatives and feckless Beltway opportunists could define “moderation” by their own warped yardsticks without pushback are over. Hoffman may have lost narrowly, but NY-23 is a much broader victory for conservatives who believe the Republican Party should stand for core limited government principles.
Gosh, if progressives are like you, I sure do want to be one! You're so kind and reasonable. Peace and love brother Ben.
Up with deadbeats and Government cheese. It's going to be beautiful when we'er all equally poor , stupid and dependent on government for everything. Right Comrad?
Steele is as weak and wishy washy as they come. He stands for nothing. The GOP is only interested in power, not doing what's right for the country. They'd be happy with Scuzzyfuzzy because it gets them one votes closer to committee chairmanships. That's why they continually back liberals against conservatives.
No ACORN would NEVER cheat. They never have and they CERTAINLY never have for progressive causes. I want to be all kind and peaceful like Syntax_game. When I read his comments, I swell with pride that another human being can be so wonderful. Show me to the progressive sign-in table. If only he had spoken to me earlier, I would not have wasted all that time being right.
I want to be all loving and tolerant like you are twinespc.
I smell something fishy in the state of Denmark. ACORN anyone wanna bet..
That's because even YOU know it's a possibilty syntax, how else were you so able to predict it. *snerk*
"Time to call a "political exterminator" to rid the party of the cockroaches"
Awww come on syntax the dems aren't THAT bad. *sneer*
Thanks to Doug Hoffman and all who voted for him. Congratulations to Owens and those who voted for him. To The Newt Gingrich and Michael Steele, I ask you to stop dressing Progressives and Liberals in elephant suits. Give the voters true representatives of the party. I don't think there are many Republicans, moderate Republicans, conservatives, or Libertarians who would not vote for a fiscally conservative candidate. At this point in time, social issues like gay marriage and abortion rights are not as important to most conservative voters as knowing someone will rein in government growth and spending, IMHO.
Dede is dead in the water to the GOP. She may as well keep kissing arse on the left because she is so done that she may as well stick a fork in herself.
You're a sorry little twerp.
Well the die has been cast. I think that with the good sport award going to Dede that a full and compleat refund of monies given to her because of her supporting the oposition canidate gives me the feel of fruad.
PRINCETON, NJ — Conservatives continue to outnumber moderates and liberals in the American populace in 2009, confirming a finding that Gallup first noted in June. Forty percent of Americans describe their political views as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 20% as liberal. This marks a shift from 2005 through 2008, when moderates were tied with conservatives as the most prevalent group.
Uh, Mr Lib- you are the minority. Please continue to think that the Republicans are "tearing themselves apart." Actually, we are trying to increase our "tent" by welcoming back the Conservatives.
A few quotes from the Founders:
Regarding "general welfare" that dumb Libs spout as the end-all, be all: "If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions." -James Madison
“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” – James Madison
(Sounds like Queen Nancy's health care, doesnt it? I mean Conyers said: "What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
Please continue to be IGNORANT. We've got your back.
Meanwhile across the aisle, the president of the United States continues to cry and whine and mess his pants claiming "Bush did it!"
Interesting election. Here in Virginia a very popular incumbent Democratic first term delegate (endorsed by the local left wing paper, of course) LOST to the same guy he beat two years ago. No way should this have happened.
The incumbent paid attention to his district, and so far as I know, voted his conscience in Richmond. At least he said he made both sides angry by sticking up for what he thought was right. His signs were all over the place, plastered at the last minute by the endorsement of the left wing paper (which may have hurt him. If the VA Pilot endorsed St. Francis of Assissi, I'd figure the saint was to the left of Lenin and Marx and vote for the other candidate. How many others feel that way?)
Dems and Republicans will make much ado about New York's 23, but it was a fluke. First of all the back room boys gave the nomination to a candidate in favor of every of President Obama's unpopular policies. She was to the LEFT of the Democratic candidate (who, if he's smart, will become a blue dog. They seem to be on the ascendency and have much power in the GOP). The GOP rebelled, that's all, something the Dems have a hard time understanding since they are party ideologues and support whoever they're told to by the dear leader(s) — just like the Russian Bolsheviks and all other hard left parties.
LAST NIGHT WAS A CONSERVATIVE VICTORY!

That Hoffman came as close as he did is amazing. Palin told the country when she quit the Governorship of AK that she would back whoever was the most conservative. Had the NY 23 race been between the Liberal Republican and the Less Liberal Democrat, it's feasible she would have supported the Dem. Gingrich has a tin ear so far as politics goes. The GOP was lucky. Had Dede whateverhenameis won, the Dems would have had another member (tho' undeclared) and so could have screamed "BIPARTISANSHIP" whenever she signed on to some left wing project. Too bad Hoffman didn't pull it off, but Owen has no smooth sledding ahead of him. Nasty Nazi Pelosi is his leader! Heaven help him.

You are wrong —Anderson Cooper (more money than brains or good taste) of CNN coined that phrase on April 15.
I am wondering if you THINK at all or if your childish rage is because of your dependence on a gov'tal body too take care of you. Does your Mom still put out your clothers to wear in the morning?
Actually the NY GOP has failed to win two straight special elections in 23 and I think it was 20. The issue is to quit nominating clods to run. To the protester movement, you have your answer, no third party will work. You must do the dirty work at the county level and make sure you have better candidates to run in GOP primaries (or to be picked as was the case in NY 23 where Dede wouldn't have won in a primary).
CA-10 was a +18 democrat seat. There was no danger in losing that one, only the spread was in question.
The problem is that in Virginia the democrats lost more than just the governship, they lost everything down stream and lost delegate seats. In NY-23, Obama won the district and the dem barely won against a stupid GOP state party. There are many additional House seats up next year in which Obama didn't win the district. Everyone of those democrats in the House are now exposed. People don't hate Obama, but they increasingly do hate his policies. This was not a good night for the White House. Reid says probably no health care vote this year and cap and trade cannot even get out of committee. Pelosi is going to force her conservative democrats to walk the plank on health care just to make their re-election almost impossibel next year. All fo Obama's political capital has probably been spent. Now we will see if the GOP has learned its lesson or not. Next year will be an incumbant blood bath and the democrats will be playing defense.
I blame it on global warming…

In the past year NY has lost more millionaires than any other state, Maryland was second in that race to drive out the highest tax payers. Both states now have a smaller tax base and even with higher taxes they are experiencing a tax shortage. Way to shoot yourself in the foot Dem's!
Obama took the district in 08. It has been trending increasingly dem because the government is so influential in the district, there isn't much industry up there. What this proves is that 3rd party candidates cannot win. This was as optimal a chance to win a 3rd party as possible. It didn't happen. You need to get influence in the county party leadership. Dede was a terrible choice and Owens is probably a better choice than she would have been, I agree he was more moderate.
It's Al Gore.. He did it..

Even with your hand on top of your head you still can't find the point, it's right there dummy, the sharp thing poking your finger.
Did not bother with such details! remember Kadhafi? Reagan did it my way. no questions no shouts no discussion no UN BOOM your house is gone Mr Kadhfi don't blow our people out of the ski. It took over 20 years before we heard about this idiot again on the floor of the UN. It took Obama to bring him back to center stage. It took Obama to legitimize a government that sponsors terrorism. No you are right Reagan did not invade a country he did not have to people respected his strength.

Guess you haven't paid enough attention to your man-child master–he say, Taliban=Good. only a few is miss-guided.
Have noticed they don't seem to remember that we are under a Republic, and can't seem to recognize Marxism staring them in the face. What is wrong with these people. They want us to use all the correct PC terms but they cannot use the correct terms for everyday civics.
The Race verified Obama is a falling star, The fact that this "unknown" came as close as he did too win the seat in such a short time shows how strong the Americans are rebeling aganist Obama's socialistic agenda. Plus, the fact the Republican runner would not end up in the seat and become Obama'a bi-partician show piece. How good is a seated 'Repubican' in name only?

If the republicans had gotten their act together sooner Hoffman would have won. He started out very late and his finish was marvelous. He is not the most charismatic leader and in spite of that did very well. Sometimes winning is not was you should judge. The tea baggers were at this for the first time and learned some valuable lessons, the republicans noticed what can happen if they force speudo-rep on us. I think it was a win for the tea baggers. You know the few people who showed up so few that they were counted as astro turf. WAKE UP there is a move and the fact that Hoffman lost is no indication of what is to come.
Thank you Mr Hoffman for giving it your best. We need Rep that we can trust regardless of the party they belong too.
How is it with your head in the sand? comfortable?

We don't need and we don't won any Arlen Spectators or Arlen Scuzyfuzy, you can have them.
Time to brace ourselves for the biggest hissy fit ever seen out of the White House and from the progressive minority. The Conservative roar of passion yesterday is far more powerful than the progressive power push.
The Teabagger Party: Losing to a Democrat in a district that has been Republican-dominated since 1993 is still a victory because we said so! Yeah!
Pazzi,
They recognize the marxism/socialism. Sadly, there are many people who actually WANT the USA to be socialist. Once you accept that, current events start to make more sense.
To Conservative New Yorkers:
I am sure Mr. Hoffman will win in the future, but one cannot build on hope. So I have a better idea:
Move your businesses, (those of you who can), to "Joisey" or Virginia, especially Virginia, as apparently those states are taking seriously the challenges of jobs and growth, and are making changes to help you meet those challenges…
For those left in NY…keep voting for those chains on your economy…we need examples of what doesn't work, like CA, locally on the East Coast…
Palin/Bachmann 2012…free your economy
Who was Doug Hofman 10 weeks ago ? and the Dems are giddy that they beat a guy by 5 points? A nobody?
Stay in the fight Doug – Your time will come again … hmmm Mayor ????City Council???
I just want to say that democrats won with only 49% of the vote! This is a sorry win considering that the entire white house and friends were behind it. We will see what happens in 2010
Questions need to be asked about those in the local Republican establishment (county by county) that considered Scozzafava (a Democrat mole if ever I saw one) to be the one. Either they were bought off, or they themselves are moles, or they have the IQ of a plant.
I'll say it again:
Either they were bought off, or they themselves are moles, or they have the IQ of a plant.
It's obvious Scozzafava endorsement of the democrat hurt, but also the fact she bowed out so late, after many absentees had already been sent . Her 6% maybe cost Hoffman the election. It was a good battle, but a bad defeat for conservatives. I'm assuming Hoffman will began campaigning immediately for next year, with maybe more GOP support…http://cooperscopy.blogspot.com/
Hey ben better look at the donor lists again Democrates are the ones profiteering from billionaires and banks. The Republican party supports small businesses. We would like to see large corporations we feel can and should take care of themselves, Unfortunately they are ussually unionized so the dems show up for protection money. You know like Michigan GM-Uaw-Grandholm-Stebbina-Levin. Welcome to my pain.
ah, yes, our state's lovely democratic party. putting our state billions in debt isn't a big deal, right?
bryan, I think you need to review what Roe v. Wade really acomplished. It wasn't a question about Abortion as much as it was a question of if the states had the right too choose if they wanted it legal in thier state. Funny, Fed's in this case said the States must allow abortions which has become the Dems Bible, Yet, with Medical Marajana, how dare the Fed's try too rule the states on what they voted in. So, I guess since you are such a Constitutional versed, you also support the Fed's authority to ban Medical Marajuana in all states opps backstep Obama just went the oppostite way didn't he. Isn't the problem our politicians wish only to bring in the Consitution when they think they can manipulate it to support whatever their agenda may be. Like the Dem's War Cry of Roe v. Wade – Bush's Fault – Your Raciest etc.. It's really about others taking care of you and not being responsible for yourself. The Consitution is about all having equal opportuntity not a gurentee of Success.
Interesting. The left-wingers are ignoring the big wins in NJ and VA and focusing on NY-23, a seat that Owens will have to fight for next year and will probably lose. Good. That means they're cocky, and they'll get hammered in '10.
Obviously Syntax_game is a Democrat, note his use of the term "tea-baggers". The "Conservative" candidate got 46% of the vote and the non-candidate "Dede" still got 5%. That means 51% of the voters rejected the Socialist candidate, Mr. Owins.
Having one fewer RINO stinking up the joint is a net plus, and in one year we can put up a true Republican to win the seat back.
I also wonder how many of the 5% Dede voters voted early or by absentee ballot, and would have voted for Hoffman if they could change their vote after DumDumDede dropped out.
Hell, he could go after Owens again in a year…especially since Owens will have a record to defend at that time…
One that Pelosi will do everything she can to put her personal stamp of approval on…
Be very careful, Mr. Owens. Remember that Chinese curse?
"May you get exactly what you wish for…"
We need to clean house. Gingrich and Steele, to name just two, need to be taken to the curb with the rest of the garbage.
Hahaha, yeah, pat yourselves on the back for maintaining ideological purity at the expense of actually being in power. That's how we like you Republicans: paranoid, self-righteous, and utterly emasculated.
Bill Owens Dem. 60,458 49.0%
Doug Hoffman Con. 56,174 45.5
Dede Scozzafava Rep. 6,796 5.5
So, let me get this right.
The "real" Democrat wins 49%.
The real Republican takes 45.5 and the RINO takes 5.5.
Two Republicans split a total of 51% while the Democrat takes 49%. Not to mention the RINO sent her moderate supporters over to the Democrat which are likely to vote for a Republican in the future.
The next election (coming right up) will have only one Republican on the ticket.
And the Democrats are celebrating?
Disappointing, but you know what? I think Hoffman can still hold his head up high.
Now he has one year for the rematch. And next time, he'll be better funded and without the turmoil this race has been.
Exactly! Reagan was a man of principals and had the courage to back them up. Which is why the dicators of the world feared him and ultimately communism failed. All thanks to Reagan's wisdom and courage.
The more Americans allow the Gov't to do for them – the less freedoms they have. You will become a child living in your parents house again. Only this time the Gov't is your meal ticket.
You can educate ignorant people but you cannot fight Stupidity…..Just ignore the Libs, don't respond to them, they need the "attention".. No sane person would be a Lib…………..
Yes. Read "The Liberal Mind. the Psychological Causes of Political Madness", by Lyle Rossiter, Jr. MD. Psychiatrist.
You will remain a Liberal until you are "Mugged"; Obama will "Mug" you too………….
syntax is still in diapers…..:-)
You certainly don't sit at the grown up table. What about government control over the individual has anything to do with freedom?
Does anyone else think something smells rotten in Denmark? (No offense to Denmark intended!) Hoffman was leading handily and yet he lost by 4%. How can that be? What am I missing and why didn't his support grow after Dede dropped out? Just wondering.
Doug,
Start prepping for 2010. Ovens will have a record to refer to by then, and if he wants NY to even make it into the room, he'll have to toe the Pelosi line…
Keep meeting with people, making the town halls and senior centers, keep referring to the Obama mess, and keep up the values of conservatism…
I would also ask the powers that be to review the events that led to "Scuzzy Dede" being chosen in the first place…and make sure they are held to account for that decision…and her support of Owens in the end…
Keep the Faith; just because NY is slow to the party doesn't necessarily mean they won't find their way there eventually…
And to the Conservatives of NY: I heard "Joisey" is looking for 1.5 mil people, and they are willing to clean up their state to get them…
and now his show on CNN has dropped to dead last in the polls.
ROFL!!!
Correct; If Obama was "White" he would never have been elected………
Yep, it's not rocket science to see through the mindset of a "do-gooder".
go re-read the Federalist Papers.
Read James Madison's specific comments regarding the general welfare clause.
Ever hear of the Articles of Confederation? Know why they didn't work, and how the failure directly impacted the Constitution?
Do you know that most of the Founders were against having a standing army in peace times?
Having a public police force is part of the enforcement of the laws our elected reps enact. Ever hear of the 3 branches of government? Legislative, judicial, EXECUTIVE. The executive branch executes the laws enacted by the legislative branch. Police fall under the executive branch.
You need to seriously read some books and get a grasp on history before you start calling other people "dumb."
Exactly. Even the simplest person venting on this thread realizes such even if they can't bring themselves to admit it. Hoffman's loss lands squarely on the shoulders of Newt and the rest of the "old guard" who are desperate to avoid having to take a position on their values. Flying below the radar is part and parcel for those merely wishing to keep their seats when the music stops. It'll be interesting to see what Obama and his sycophants have offered up to Ms RINO for the victory as they certainly needed her and she did indeed hand them the keys in this instance.
It speaks volumes when the liberals have to depend on blacks and the loony left to get elected. And when they don't come to the polls, they lose.
Don't move to Jersey. I am the third family on my cul de sac moving from Jersey to Delaware….Low property taxes, NO Sales Tax. Jersey increased my Water bill 300%, Doubled sewer rates,Inncreased property tax all in 1 year.. Property tax on a 120,000 dollar home is 5300 dollars. No end in sight…………..
Don't ever expect a little thing like FACT to be getting in the way of Democrat vitriol.
Ignored as Stupid
Gascott: you forgot the Republican millions Scuzzy spent on getting Owens elected.
“Down Goes Hoffman
Down Goes Beck
Down Goes Palin ”
I don’t think so.
Feller said he wasn’t interested in the elections, was going to watch a basketball game. What was his name again? Nero?
New York is going DOWNHILL past 10 months. Wealth is LEAVING…. Where have you been living ??????
yeah because the Dems wouldn't ever get into bed with big business… *cough*General Electric*cough*Labor Unions*cough*cough*
both parties are bought and paid for with big, special interest money. wake up, schmuck.
What's a little thing like context to a ranting Democrat?
So how's the welfare system treating you?
yeah, you and your buddy syntax are here to spread good cheer.
One lost battle does not lose a war. The Grassroot movement is well and very much alive and growing. This war is not about labels of republican seats or democratic seats its all about putting all Politicians in check, Its American voters taking America back – Right now it is important too get a politician to vote for the people and us holding them accountable. If we did that, the people would always come out ahead. The Dems who have all the seats too pass anything they want can't get bills on the idiots too sign-why? It's us-
Yes, congratulations are in order for the Hoffmann campaign and all the helpers. This was one heck of an achievement.
In retrospect, (that means I didn't see it coming either, although my radar was getting itchy), I think Micheal is on to something.
I noticed in Mr. Hoffmann's remarks the last day, that he was addressing the national audience. Makes sense, he was getting national attention.
But all politics are local. IOW's, outside assistance is welcomed and necessary in this case, but the candidate needs to stay focused.
Just a note, I do remember that when I grew up there, there was an aversion to 'outside agitators'.
Coupled with the fact, that getting independents in the North Country to cozy up to the inside baseball of a Republican Party in disarray could be problematic. Add to that, the ~10,000 absentee ballots in a ~100,000 ballot race, along with 'stuck' voting machines in precincts (Fulton County) favorable to Mr. Hoffmann, this race could be closer than it first appears.
The lessons learned will be implemented within a few short months, when we ALL do this all over again.
Don't you hate the answer 'NO' –No Healthcare–No Caps and Trade–No more freeloaders–No Obama Utopia–etc..etc..etc.. LOL
Question Poll Keepers: Shouldn't have Scoza's name been marked out with a black marker, as they didn't have time to print out new ballots? She got 6% of the vote….which way do you think those votes would have gone????
Hello: No More R.I.N.O.s!!!
Considering that Obama invested so much of his far too precious time in both gubernatorial races, there is no spin divesting him of the message. People dislike imaginary jobs, fictitious results and most of all the Democrat party after seeing how they work with a majority in everything. All Obama's machine could do in upper state New York was go on and on about how they NEED government handouts and which candidate they would give those funds to. In the end they still needed to dangle a carrot or two in front of Dede Scozzafava to secure a win. Now there's something to brag about! "We spent like tweens with dad's credit card and still managed to come away with only 3rd prize." – Obama's first thought this morning.
Our back yards? As a Democrat you're likely in public housing. Its not your yard.
Agreed – and if the Phils didn't have Chase Utley they would already be cleaning out their locker:) had to pick up on your Philly Mike moniker as I am NYmike. good luck tonight, but not too much luck
Cheers
He borrowed one. Some day though… when he gets his Obama check…
Syntax, looks like you got some of those right-wing whackos riled up. I agree, if the GOP keeps shrinking to a party of false conservatives who supposedly decry government but would legislate how we behave, then they are doomed. I'd like to see some real conservative who decry big government on all levels (including social), who champion civil liberties instead of gutting the Fourth Amendment (like warrantless wiretapping), and oppose foreign intervention (instead of invading Iraq based on lies and propaganda). The neoconservaties like Bill Kristol who embrace big government if it furthers war and imperialism, and the social "conservatives" who would take us backwards to religious fascism, need to be marginalized.
That's a thought which has been carried on many sites since Dede Scozzafava was announced. Also lauded was just how much of a "have not" area it is. The citizenry must have crapped a brick when the base closure rumor surfaced.
Think yourself of all the expenditure in NY23, the constant reminders of how they NEED the government teat and who can get them suckling on it. In the end though it still took Dede herself to get victory for the Democrat party and the most interesting thing to come of it is the cost. What did POTUS and his disciples have to pay her? What was the prostituting of her political self worth?
Obviously he's never been Huffing With Arianna.
If you had a clue you might be dangerous.
At least it's not up my ass.
Look Red, I know you are as dumb as a tree stump, but see if you can follow this. This is the 21st century. Subtract two and the answer is 19. The Dems last held this seat in the 19th century. That was two centuries ago. I didn't say 200 years, I said two centuries back. Why don't you check with your insurance company and see if your coverage includes brain transplants.
Your an idiot. Hoffman, a nobody BORING accountant that decided to run EIGHT weeks ago with NO MONEY, experience or support from any national party or the media lost by THREE measly points.
IT took SEIU, ACORN, the MEDIA, Democrats, Republicans, shenanigans and TONS of money to squeeze out a 3pt win for the STATUS QUO. This won't scale in 2010, the establishment incumbents are all at risk. Dems and RINOS both.
Let me get this right, you consider a THREE point win with the full weight of the establishment behind your candidate a victory? It's a shallow victory considering ACORN, SEIU, POTUS, the Media, Democratic Machine, RINO candidate supporting her opponent, shenanigans, TONS of money all focused to defeat a boring nobody accountant with no party affiliations who started his campaign like EIGHT weeks ago a victory?
Had Dede dropped out sooner, those 6pts she got would make a difference. Hardly emasculated.
In a year, there will be another election for this seat, can the established power base throw the same attention and resources to hang on to the seat? Considering this battle will take place in EVERY state. I seriously doubt it.
Continue to gloat, call names and remain ignorant, that's the way we like our Progressives.
Mark
We have to keep fighting until we get the ultimate price. Take over the Congress against corrupt politicians. Defeat Pelosi and Reid.
Patrick Chester
The trolls of the man-child here on this posting site, are a poor representation of the 'won', who it is purported has such a soaring IQ, to go with the soaring Ego. The Ego I believe!
Actually, they are no real challenge. man-child is sinking his own boat, they will go down with him, never knowing what happened.
The sad thing about rabid liberals is, whereas they are absolutely brilliant at destruction, they can't build or maintain a darn thing.
Again, let's not overlearn the lessons here…first, this is not a heavy Republican district. It has been held by a Republican since 1871, but that's meaningless, as the Republican Party has been through a number of iterations and political philosophies since the 19th century, the most notable being that it was the GOP who was the party of big government, and the Dems being for limited government/state's rights.
If anything, it speaks to the value of incumbency rather than party.
Secondly, the district went for BHO in 2008 — hardly the bastion of Republicanism you're making it out to be. Bottom line, this should teach the party two things — you MUST let candidates be chosen by primaries, and you MUST not ever nominate candidates who are further left than the Democratic candidates. The GOP was in a shambles on this one, and Doug still came within 5000 or so votes of winning, and the bulk of those were votes cast for Dede Scozzafava in early voting or absentee voting before she left the race. Many of those would have gone to Hoffman as well.
this will be down played by all the radio wing bags (rush, levin, hannity) today.
No, your head is firmly up Obama's ass. Enjoy the stench while you can, you dog turd, because next year and 2012 will be a bloobath for all you traitors.
Gingrich looks like an idiot.. he backed scuzzyfuzzy, and then she dropped out and endorsed the democrat. Gingrich should have just come out and endorsed the democrat and saved himself some time.
pop quiz for anyone who may read this:
Who was the first person to run for president as a Progressive?
Yes! Thats right, Teddy Roosevelt… a Republican! R's and D's are both progressives, and both suck.
yeah, that crazy guy with the crazy idea that when you're several trillions in debt, you should probably stop spending money.
thats absurd!
in order to get rid of a multi-trillion dollar debt, you have to spend trillions more! that makes complete sense.
The Hoffman loss was a heartbreak. All the more so because Sarah Sunshine spent political capital on it. How delicious it would have been to watch the commie-libs foaming at the mouth in frustration over her increased clout.
Goddamn, but you're stupid, Ben. What the hell kind of school does one have to attend to learn some bullshit like that? I sure as hell don't know, but I bet you rode the little yellow bus to get there, didn't you? You are, quite literally, a stupid person. How do you possibly get through life? Oh that's right, you sponge and feed off of hard working people. I think you people call that "social justice", don't you?
1redcent,
I think douchebag Ben might have been blathering about the British East India *Trading* Company, but who can tell with these liberal idiots anyway?
Why did hoffman lose? Once again it was the election laws. Election laws are meant to maintain power of both parties. Why was there no run off? Both parties prevent the run off election.. When the republican dropped out how many over seas soldiers were allowed to change their absentee ballot? Why did THE republican campaign for the Democrat?
the Constitution is based on socialism? Not on individual freedom?
wow. you should write a paper explaining that, because i'd sure love to read it.
yeah, like i said before… the Dems aren't in bed with big corporations.. certainly not General Electric or the Labor unions…. or car companies.. or major financial institutions… no, never.
what was bush's failure, in terms of economic policies?
i would most definitely say that he advocated spending more money than we have… we had record deficits under Bush, and i absolutely hated it.
Obama is doubling down on the crappy policies of Bush. He plans on having a deficit of $1 trillion every year, for the next 10 years.
tack on another 10-11 trillion to the 11 trillion we already have.. how the hell do you propose we get rid of our multi multi trillion dollar debt… especially with the bush/obama model of "spend more than you have"?
you're a douche bag, and severely misguided. you get destroyed on every point you make, mostly because you don't have any real logical argument. you just talk crap. oh, and you have no concept of historical accuracy.
spend, spend, spend. that will solve all our problems of debt!
where the hell in new york do you live?
come upstate. its a crap hole. i've lived down state, and i currently live upstate. its a nightmare. i could go on for days with stories of how poor and depressed upstate is.
This contest had a voter ballot that shows Owens twice, Scozzafava twice and Hoffman once. Hoffman got 46% with the liberal extreme Scozzafava supporting the Democrat. What would have been the results had the Republicans gotten behind a conservative candidate instead of an extreme leftist candidate? Hoffman came very close to winning this race. He was not necessarily a charismastic candidate. He came very close to winning on principles. Lesson for the Republicans? Get some principles! Democrats? People are looking for conservative principled individuals (focus on Principled). 2010 is not looking good for the Democrats but the GOP better learn from this valuable lesson if they want to win. GOP & Newt, get your act together. Time for some serious reflection 'cause you are on the WRONG path!
And you are entertaining.
Get over the Palin thing!!!! She has more integrity than all of the "Hypocrates", I mean Democrats. Why are the Dems so afraid of her??

Actually, the “tea-bagging” label in reference to you came from Fox News. The nerdy looking guy with glasses who likes to stalk people and was caught on tape along with a producer at the 9/12 rally inciting excitement for the “fair and balanced” news cast was the one who coined that phrase in reference to the tea party protesters. Naturally…well…you can’t let a gift like that go. Sure beats the whole “liberal moonbat” thing.
==========================================================================
and your a flat out liar, that term was used by the left news agencies to denegrate people protesting your liberal socialist agenda!
I would like to know what big government thinks about a whole country yet to be counted. Why is no one telling us about this? The ACORN planted absentee ballots have yet to be counted, and then this whole country will have to be counted. So the question is, HAS HOFFMAN REALLY LOST?
Last Update: 3:07 am
Fulton County (WSYR-TV) – NewsChannel 9 has learned voting machines in Fulton County, which is a part of the 23rd Congressional District, have been impounded, after the machines were not working property, the Fulton County Board of Elections confirms.
The county was forced to switch over to paper ballots.
They were not planning on counting any votes Tuesday night. We’re told by the Board of Elections, the paper ballots cannot be touched until the absentee ballots are opened a week from Tuesday.
Do you mean bluebath? Like the result in NY-23?
Better savor it, Bob. It's likely to be the last you're going to see for a LONG time. If the geniuses at GOP national had't brilliantly dumped $900,000.00 into the campaign of a turncoat who ended up endorsing the DemoRat, you would't even have that crumb this morning.
Nobody is afraid of her. She's a joke.
True………..and I sholuld be paid for posting factual history lessons for those who never managed to learn anything in school.
Liberalism is a mental disease; that's for sure and certain !
He might have, but then, nobody could really tell that from his incoherent, error filled, benighted, revisionist spews.
Unlike Ben, the Founding Fathers knew history. The Mass. Bay Colony tried a very early, pre-Marx form of MARXISM, the first year and discovered that it did NOT work, so they ditched it and it was never again tried, on this soil, for 100s of years.
People like Ben don't pay taxes, they don't do anything productive, they're the parisitical class of brain dead bottom feeders.
Your inability to read minds is astounding ! I cared a VERY great deal about the governors races! I've been obsessed about Libtard Jersey governors ( including RINO ones ! ) for decades.
Actually, Obama has set back race relations for at least a century.
There will NEVER be another black president ( which is a shame, because there are some brilliant and very capable black GOPers and I don't mean Michael Steele ) in our life time. And I said this far more than a year ago; way before I knew about Barry's connection with Harold Washington, the one and only black mayor of Chicago.
Delaware is almost as corrupt as Jersey and as blue.
But as long as you're moving there, make sure to do all you can, to keep Joe Biden's idiot, very corrupt son, from winning his seat in Congress next year.
Try listening to Rush and Hannity and you might learn something !
FYI……..thus far, neither of them has "down played" a thing; you jerk.
You're the joke; not to mention an idiot!
Back to being a complete jerk, I see.
Look, you can try to spin this, as hard as you can, until you've screwed yourself into the ground, but you are just full of hot air and delusions. I just hope that you'll show up a year from now! Do you have the guts to do that?
You're the paranoid one; not to mention brain dead.
The American populace woke up, saw MARXISM starring them in the face, and are disgusted, horrified, and fighting it tooth and nail !
In Pa., the GOPers took 6 out of the 7 elections there and that carried through in all other states of the Union.
Today, Obama's spinners and handlers are trying to "protect:" him and keep him out of it all. This is only going to continue to get much, mush worse for Dems and especially the empty suit in the White House. A year from now, Obama is going to completely lose it and will have to be carried out of the White House in a straight-jacket.
No, he just doesn't know much about nor understand politics and his tenuous grasp of history is abysmal.
That's exactly what happened…..many voted by absentee ballot, long before Hoffman managed to come up on the radar and long before she quit the race..
Psssssssssssssssssssssssst….Obama just had Holder stomp all over a law suit to stop the wire tapping of TERRORISTS. Obama is doing it too.
Look moron, two centuries equal 200 years; A CENTURY IS ONE HUNDRED YEARS! It's really as simple as that. A four year old child understands this, why can't you?
Since you are the one who is brainless, I suggest that you now crawl away and cry.
Obama was in constant contact with here, to throw her votes to the Dem; Owens. Scuzzyfuzzy will now probably get some kind of job with his administration.
Hoffamn did better than any third party candidate has, so your premise is off.
You missed the explanation, didn't you Red Man? I knew I was wasting my time explaining it to you. Have a nice day El Dopo.
I really did LOL @ that comment ^ ^ ^ HA!
Oh I read what you wrote, but it was assinine; as are you, bozo!
You get your news from MSNBC, don't you? LOL
Almost nobody, who is a GOPer and/or a Conservative and most assuredly nobody, not the Indies, the Dems, the apolitical, nor the GOPers in the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT ever heard of "tea bagging"; let alone knew what it meant, prior to that simpering fag, Anderson Cooper and then picked up by other brain dead lefty Libs.
Neither winning GOP governor "separated themselves from the Tea Party Movement" !
Oh bet on it………the GOPers are going to keep on winning and winning and next year, you will be gnashing your teeth ( if you have any ), keenning, and on suicide watch !
You just nailed it, but facts don't matter to our resident trolls.
They're brain dead and just regurgitating DNC talking points.
The kids also didn't vote……………in droves.
RAISE THE AGE TO VOTE !
Interesting stuff about that race. It might not quite be over just yet.
http://madisoncounty.org/boe/esuitereports/r17_di...
Some glaring discrepancies in the lists of votes received. The vote totals may very well be different than what was originally reported.
Town of Fenner, Scozzafava gets 248 votes without Hoffman getting any? Same in the Town of Sullivan, precinct 2. Scozzafava gets 251 votes without Hoffman getting any? Not likely.
From what I understand, there were questionable actions after the polls closed as well. I won't go into particulars, since I didn't directly speak to anyone at the Madison County Board of Elections but I know someone who did (they worked on the Hoffman campaign).
It may all come to nothing when all is said and done, but nobody should be surprised if there is more news that comes out regarding NY-23 or if the tabulated vote quantities are revised.
Thanks MerryJ. I really want to agree with everyone but I have to be cautious here. I saw Michael Steele on CNN for a sec and he tried to assuage my doubts. In the end the doubts only grew stronger. He talks predictably like a beltway insider, not like a real conservative. One thing we need in a GOP leader is the confidence that he will reliably seek and back conservatives. The last thing they would do is work for the Dems. No one else is talking about Michael Steele working for the dems, till you mentioned it. I don't think that's realistic but I'm not sure.
Conservatives!! Please, we need to stop being so complacent about allowing wishy washy Republicans to stand for us. After eight years of Bush I know we think that's the most we can hope for, but if we really just had a conservative Republican party we would have a party that stood for truth and the American way instead of one that postures about big tents, social values, and inevitably, reaching across the aisle to socialists. We need
I’m amazed that Hoffman did not win. He should have.
How, when Dodo Scuzzyfuzzy dropped out, she wasn’t removed from the polls. Either paper, crossed out, or electronic, NA.
I think NY-23 had blatant voter fraud and no one has called it.
If New Yorkers are that stupid to vote for the candidate that dropped out of the race, then by all means, live with what you put in office.
California just started robbing it’s citizens, I guess one size really does fit all.
Thanks, CorporalO. I think my wording was a bit confusing on that "working with the Dems" thing — I didn't mean it literally, just that some Repubs are either (a) liberal and/or (b) more pragmatic than principled. I don't think Steele is one of those, but I do think that's an element that was trying to undercut Steele when he won the RNC leadership post.
Any leader gets the blame for everything that happens on their watch, even though — especially in a bureaucracy, and the Party is as bureaucratic as a government body — subordinates often create the problems without the leader's awareness, then the resulting mess is dumped at his feet.
One thing looks promising: Sean Hannity is going to be posting all Republican candidates and their positions on issues and voting records, hopefully before the Primaries, to alert us to which candidates "walk the walk" and which ones just, at campaign time, sound like conservatives but then vote like liberals.
Thanks again, MerryJ1
Well….yeah 1RC! I like poking badgers with a stick and yeah, I'll get bit someday! So be it! I'll see ya in a year but you're not getting an argument from me…the Repubs will gain back seats next year. That is unless you pull a NY-23 and hand another seat over to the Dems. lol
You've already been bitten and are losing pint after pint of blood.
President Bush the young is one of the very few presidents who didn't lose seats, after he was first elected; he gained some. That is NOT going to happen to Barry! no, Barry is going to lose seats in both Houses and probably one House; if not both.
NY 23 was an outlier; no primary and an idiot pick in a back room, with some votes counting much more than others. If you're counting on a repeat of that……………………….you're being foolish !
I'll see ya in 323 days !
You're on 1RC but I think things will be different in NY-23 as compared to this year. Michael Steele said it best today when he said "If you don't live there and you don't vote there than obviously, you're opinion doesn't matter there!" Obviously, the Republicans need to re-think their strategy when it comes to picking candidates but I believe the Republicans and the voters of NY-23 are going to be telling the corporate backed, K-street lobbyists Club For Growth and Freedomworks to stay the hell out and take the unemployed teen social network blogger, Sarah Palin with ya!
A Republican can take back that seat next year but it will be OUR Republican and not yours!
The Republican won Chester. That lie only works when the other candidate is in the lead or wins. Nothing came of that lie because the liar's candidate won! Catch up son!
Oh dear…………………you're back to spewing delusional horse manure again.
Michael Steele is an idiot; however, I heard him speak today and I don't remember hearing him say anything at all like that. HE APOLOGIZED!
And it's THEN, not "than".
Your extremely childish insults are getting old and don't help your case.
I don't mind getting into it with you, but sometimes I wonder if I should bother, seeing as you have the mental capacity of a backward 6 year old. What's next, calling Mrs. Palin a "poopyhead"?
A GOPer WILL take back the NY 23 seat next year and it probably will be HOFFMAN !
How about if I call her a pinhead? Works for O'Reilly?
I don't think it will be Hoffman. He conceded awful fast. I'm not being insulting or anything but didn't you think he conceded a little too quick? It's just an observation.
If it is Hoffman, he's got a year to familiarize himself with the issues so he's not facing an editorial meeting asking for the questions to be provided in advance. It's a House seat Mr. Hoffman, you shouldn't need "Cliff Notes". And his entourage calling our issues (and subsequently us) "parochial" and saying our issues weren't important cost him votes. It really did, that elitist crap on behalf of Dick Armey cost Hoffman votes. I wouldn't make that mistake again.
But hey, ya never know! He could win.
Well, that wouldn't fit, since it is patently obvious that she doesn't suffer from microcephaly.
Frankly, O'Reilly is a jerk most of the time and not nearly as "brilliant" as he imagines himself to be. But hey, you should love the guy, since he went into the tank for Obama, when he interviewed him.
Corzine conceded even faster. What say you about that?
If there are any overtly obnoxious elitists out there ( and yes, both parties/sides haves them ), the Dems win, hands down, with Obama leading the pack !
In any event, one thing is for sure and certain, if not Hoffman, it most assuredly won't be a Scuzzyfuzzy clone.
Radio Erevan would answer you "Bob you're right with 2 minor corrections: the civil war remark would be true if you rewrite history and place it 17 years ago and the second one is more like an addendum: Stalin made history too".
If you don't know what "Radio Erevan" is, I am afraid you have no clue on what kind of history you are making.
